50 years ago in a mysterious far Eastern country the first human cloning experiment took place. The experiment was going well until the young clones turned into psychotic stick wielding killers. They took over the nearby monastery called The Temple of the Dragon, killed all the monks, and sealed themselves in. They have stayed there in isolation ever since. One day whilst Lara was taking a trek through this country she fell down a hole in the forest and landed in the monastery. To get back to the outside world Lara has to find three Dragon Gems and put them back on their proper pedestals.

Lara is in Japan looking for an artifact. But when she gets trapped in the Gardens of Japan things start to get interesting. Lara must find a tunnel of water to escape from the Gardens of Japan.

Lara is traveling to Guizhou. It's a Chinese province full of rainy weather. There is a forest with difficulty accessible in the valley of a tributary from the Yangtze River. Here, there is a very old monastery where strange things take place. Lara gets to know from a researcher that the monastery is afflicted from ghosts. They try to throw out the monks, but most of the monks are already damned. So Lara goes to this mysterious place to see for herself.

Fact...in 1924 (30 years before Hillary and Tenzing) George Mallory attempted to climb Everest by its north-west ridge and disappeared close to the summit. In his pocket (among other items) he carried a valued family posession which he intended to leave on the summit as physical proof to anyone in the future,following in his footsteps,that he had succeeded. This object has not been found. However,in 1999 Mallory's body was discovered beneath the summit,perfectly preserved. In his pockets were many personal items,all in good condition.The only item missing was this valued posession. In 1960,the first completely successful ascent of Everest by the north-west ridge (and only the second undoubted ascent overall) was undertaken by the Chinese. It has long been believed that they discovered Mallory's posession and removed it deliberately in order to quell the knowledge that he had managed to get there before them. Fiction..Lara has decided to track down the posession (a large diamond) which she believes the Chinese are hiding (they can't destroy it, because diamond's are indeed forever)in order to exhibit to the world as proof of Mallory's success. She needs to follow the trail of Mallory's diamond through the foothills of Everest to the Thyangboche Monastery.

During an expedition to the east in search of the fabled treasures of Hoo Flung Dung, Lara had followed a number of clues that had led nowhere. One afternoon, Lara was contemplating her next move while walking in the grounds of the Hoo Flung palace when she spotted a dark opening through a dense thicket of shrubs. Ever the curious one, she just had to investigate. Cautiously, she made her way through the undergrowth and found a small opening in the steep hill beyond. In she ventured and found herself sliding down a steep slope into a hidden, but well tended garden. Could this lead to the object of her quest? Or would it be another dead end?

Lara is currently rather burnt out and irritable - she doesn't fancy much to do something and nothing seems to enjoy her. She travels to Asia to visit her old friend Master Lu, who promises her to bring her back to balance and to calm down. She just needs to solve his riddles - help her with this task. On the highest floor of the Chinese emperors palace, very close to heaven, there`s the Heavens Gate. Nine steps are leading the emperor from there to the heavens altar, where daily he sacrifices to harmonize Ying and Yang (good and evil). Unfortunately the emperor lost the Gate Key while walking thru the palace garden. Bad luck for Ying an Yang - with no sacrificing good and evil will fall into imbalance - a real threat to the whole world. One day, Lara receives a letter from an old friend and fellow adventurer, Kuan-Yin Lo, inviting her to visit him at his home in Huoshan, northern China when she is next in that part of the world. As luck would have it, Lara was planning an expedition to an ancient temple in nearby Jiangsu and so wrote back to her friend, thanking him for his invitation and saying she would see him in two weeks' time. On Lara's arrival at his house, Kuan-Yin greeted her warmly. Lara was very happy to see her old friend, with whom she had shared several adventures and that evening they reminisced on their past quests and explorations. Eventually their conversation turned to the Zhu Deng, an ancient and beautiful artefact which Kuan-Yin had found many years before and which Lara had seen on a previous visit. Lara was fascinated by its beauty and admired it greatly. Suddenly, Kuan-Yin turned to Lara and said “Lara, I have many treasures I have gained through years of exploration and which have brought me great joy whilst I have had them. However, I am no longer a young man, one day I will die and I have no children to leave these things to. I am therefore giving some things away now to my closest friends, and I would like you, Lara, to have the Zhu Deng. I hope you will treasure it and keep it as a memento of our friendship”. Lara is amazed at her friend’s generosity and at first says no, she couldn’t possibly take the artefact. Kuan-Yin looked thoughtfully at Lara and then laughed. “You are very much like me. An explorer, an adventurer, one who takes risks in order to find precious things. There is no challenge in being given treasure without danger to overcome. So what if I give you a challenge? I will hide the Zhu Deng and if you find it, you can keep it?” Lara smiled at her friend. “What did you have in mind?” Kuan-Yin stood up and walked slowly around the room. “I have a house a few miles to the north of here, up in the mountains. This house has been in the Lo family for many years and my father, who as you know was also an explorer, turned the house into a training course, somewhere he could practice his skills, and I too have used it for this purpose. I could hide the Zhu Deng somewhere in the house and if you can find it and bring it to me, it will be yours!” Lara is intrigued. She is still hesitant to take the precious artefact from her friend but is unable to resist such a challenge and agrees. A few days later Kuan-Yin takes Lara to the house in the mountains, the House of Kuan-Yin Lo.

Legend has it that Mitsu Toranagu a famed evil Samurai had found the Dragons Eyes, a pair of blue gems that was said to give the possessor of them great power so long as they had the Dragons Disc, a circular plate with dragons in the shape of Yin & Yang. Lara discovers in her research for another Japanese artifact that his legend is true in regards to the artifacts and where he kept them hidden. So, she set out for Itsunia Village in the hills near Mount Fuji to retrieve the artifacts.
