The legends speak of a splitting of the weapon at the fall of Alexander the Great's empire. Supposedly, the two parts were brought to two different locations. The North-South half was brought to the catacombs of Egypt, whilst the East-West portion was brought to a location spoken of only as the place where great things grow from high towers. The following line of text is extracted directly from the Cairo Scrolls, which were discovered only ten years ago in a small crevice roughly 2 km north of Cairo. It was then, at a secret meeting in Hat-kuptos, that the three wisest men in all of Egypt decided to divide the weapon. They knew of its importance and of its power, for they were amongst the men who had designed it. Using the same tools with which they had constructed it, they cut it into sections of equal size. The first part, which aligned itself with the North-South coordinates of Earth, was placed within a network of tombs deep beneath Egypt's sands. The second part, aligning itself to the East-West coordinates of Earth, was brought farther north, to a place situated in a valley; the place where great things grow from high towers. The three men took the pieces to their destined locations, and hid them from the rest of the world, in an attempt to keep the world safe from those rulers to come after Alexander. Since the translation of the scrolls ten years ago, it has been widely agreed upon that the second part of the weapon was brought to the location of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. While the location of the Hanging Gardens is thought to be known, no evidence of a super weapon being there has ever been found. It is because of this, that many people believe the location to be elsewhere. Four days before Lara arrived in Egypt to search for the first half of the weapon, a sunken chunk of desert was located in southern Iraq. The sand dug away easily, and when all of the loose sand had been removed, a large valley of stiff, packed sand was lying, empty, with a dark passage at its west end. Lara heard of this on her way to the catacombs, and placed it on her list of places to visit next. In these levels you will search for the second part of the weapon, known as East-West.
