Reviewer's comments
"so again its more of a test level i think, at the start theres a frozen dog and a climbable looking pillar thats not climbable and after yo u open that first door its all over in 5 mins after you open some more doors, go for a swim, avoid a fire gun in a alcove, kill some sas men and go for an indoor bike ride that you cant finish unfortunately" - John (12-Aug-2021)
"The Dude abides by his habit of fooling around with the Editor and making the result of these foolings-around available for the public, God knows why. This time he tries his hand at an exceedingly poor rendition of Lara’s mansion (no, silly—the other one, the one where Lara practices taxidermy). A few vague gestures towards gameplay (the highlight being a booby trap ) come to nothing. Texturing is indiscriminate (carpet on ceiling) and lighting negligible (somewhat surprisingly, given the builder’s ‘psychedelic’ debut), though most the rooms are not as oversized as they tend to be in similar products. The Dude makes up for this by creating corridors of excessive length. The last of these terminates in a slope too steep to climb or drive up, though if you use an unmarked monkeyswing (of excessive length), you end up in a room that is an obvious copypaste of the one you started out in (an infertile crossbreed between assault course and gym), with a finish trigger nowhere to be found. What a wonderful metaphor for the pointlessness of it all." - Mulf (18-Jan-2021)
"Not much to do in this level, except to open doors and ride a motorcycle. Insufficient." - Drakan (15-Oct-2019)
"A little 'house' with not so much to do apart from swimming a bit, running through long passages, killing a guard, riding a bike and flying to get over the big ramp because the bike can't go up over it. But above the ramp there's nothing else than a similar room to the beginning. Not recommended." - alan (06-Mar-2018)
"Very short this level, again with simple architecture and no care with the texturization. There is a lonely trap with a sentry gun and the remaining gameplay consists about pick up a gun and ammo and shoot a SAS; the short ride with the bike (well, another SAS on your way) is boring and at the end there's a vertical wall you can't climb with the bike, so not a finish trigger. Not worth to play." - Jose (22-Nov-2017)
"Well, that was a waste of time. A rushed level. Not much to do apart from drive a bike. Play something else." - Ryan (26-Mar-2016)
"Well that's five minutes of my life I'll never get back. What a mess of a level. An outside gym area with no working equipment, a couple of looooooong corridors, a short bike ride and no proper end to the whole thing. Quite honestly, Lara should have shot the architect." - Jay (06-Feb-2016)
"With all due respect, this has got to be the worst home-themed level that I've ever had the displeasure of going through for a review, as literally none of the qualities that I traditionally praise towards other releases usually, apply in any real sort of significant way here. Texturing is repetitive throughout, environments are unnecessarily long-winded and empty, lighting and general atmosphere are incredibly flat, the few enemies utilized just feel thrown in and finally, the gameplay is incredibly boring with the game itself crashing to desktop whenever you attempt to return to the main menu, due to the lack of a proper finish trigger altogether. So in conclusion, cannot be recommended due to the clearly unfinished nature of it all." - Ceamonks890 (26-Nov-2014)
"No. No, no, no, no, no! This shouldn't be called a "house" level. I felt rather like in a bunker or something like that. Soldiers, a sentry gun, roadblocks... They aren't often seen in any house. The corridors are too long and Lara's bed is huuuuuge. Gameplay is proceeding, advancing, going ahead... boring. No puzzles. Lack of objects. Emptiness. Average texturing and lighting. SUMMARY: Another abode too humble for Lara. No raid at all." - DJ Full (25-Oct-2010)
"I wanted to read up, actually, in the Walkthrough whether I am really already at the level end. The silly one is only which there is no Walkthrough. It is a scandal!! And no mistake!! But apart from that: I was actual already at the level end. After only 6 minutes. But what could I have made everything during these 6 minutes? I could have drunk a glass of water. Or eat a bread. Or can write a contribution in this forum. But no, I had to play this level. And what was to be seen there now? A strangely looking beginning room with an frozen dog. And other loveless assembled rooms. One could leave behind most of them with a ride on the motorcycle. This also had the advantage which one could knock down the SAS-Soldiers. Then there was still a waste and too long monkey swing and one was in the final room, which just looked how the beginning room. There I have wasted 6 valuable minutes of my life on earth once more." - Scottie (25-May-2009)
"5 minutes are sufficient to get through this level where you start and end in a courtyard with a structure in the middle. In between , some doors to open , a couple of SAS , a motorbike to drive if you want to, and you have to make a long monkey swing to reach the last courtyard which does not seem to have a finish trigger." - eRIC (23-Jan-2009)
"A courtyard! With greenery a climbing monkey swinging setup a climbing surface you can't climb up a door a long brown corridor a hall a bedroom a swimming pool another long brown corridor a very long bike run round and round indoors to a dead end off the bike and dozy up to another courtyard with greenery. This can't be Lara's house it must be her crazy aunt Maude's house." - CC (06-Jun-2003)
"Couldn't find a finishing trigger in this level but this one was not dark so that is a plus. A house level but which house? A bike ride and although not my favorite pastime I took it for a spin as high as I could go on that slope. You can't make it with the bike tough there is a monkey climb. It felt so unfinished a shame really. 08-05-2003" - Gerty (12-May-2003)
"Well well well. Big empty rooms long corridors a dog that looks embalmment but it does bleed if you try to shoot it. I killed two SAS guards and got the motorcycle to drive God knows where as you can only drive down but then you have to monkey swing to continue. Then you find yourself in what looks like the room you start but no finishing trigger. One blue block in that room has a monkey swing but it leads nowhere." - Kristina (10-Dec-2002)
"Have I seen the end of it? I didn't trip over the finishing trigger but as Lara's other humble abode has only 20 rooms and I run down two long corridors drove the motorbike around a few corners and did an incredibly tedious monkeyswing there can't be much that I've missed. I ended up in a garden that looked very much like the place I started out from like in both yards are two strange constructions that look very climbable but aren't. In between those areas you make your way through boxy rooms kill two guards and pick up a pair of Uzis. I could tell you what Lara doesn't do or what is not there but that would take ages. I guess this might even classify as a joke level but then again it's not really funny." - Dimpfelmoser (21-Aug-2002)
"This level seemed not to make a lot of sense you start in an enclosed outside area with some odd shaped structures and you end in an identical room no more than 5 minutes later. Through the game you pass quickly through a couple of rooms that included a bedroom and a pool only to come to a motorbike that you ride through an enclosed corral type area which has the only enjoyable moment as you get to ride the bike near vertically part way up a wall. I can't really recommend this level to anyone but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take a look for yourself." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"If you are really into Lara's Home Levels you can find some nice textures back in this very short application. Other than that it is a very quick run-through without many thrills and plainly sequential rooms." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"This level is set in another house of Lara Croft. Another strange house of Lara. This one is very strange and I did not like to play it. There are some things very wrong here as a very deep bathtub (at least I think it was intended to be a bathtub) a sentry gun inside the house and then there's a short bike ride in the house taking Lara to an extremely high slope which Lara won't climb up even with the motorbike." - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"Well...erm...there have been several insane levels that I haven't been able to get my head round and this is one of them. This cannot be anything other than a horrible nightmare for Lara where her house was destroyed and re-built by Changing Rooms and Carol Smilie (awful british TV show). But having said that I enjoyed it very much flying down corridors in the motorbike was great fun and half way up a vertical wall! But all there is left to do is exploration which there isn't much of and some sneaky sections which annoyed me in the end but worth a look!" - TrueRaider (21-Jun-2002)
"Anyone expecting a real house level here will be disappointed as this isn't really a level at all. The starting area is filled with structures that seem to serve no purpose at all the 'house' is mainly just a few very long hallways with a bedroom and deep pool thrown in a closet hides a machine gun trap and then after a few minutes you find a mototcycle that is only needed to ride down one long hallway. Then after a long monkey swing you get back to a room that looks exactly like the first (only missing the frozen dog). This looks like someone was bored and just playing around with the editor." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"In my opinion this level is terrible! You start inside an ugly-looking room and end in an almost identical room less than 5 minutes later! You also get to drive the motorcycle to an almost vertical wall and then the only way to reach the end (?) is to use the DOZY-cheat." - Magnus (21-Jun-2002)
"Well good things first the textures are very bright for those who don't like dark levels. I hate these levels which just leave you high and dry without a definite finish (well I could not find one). Nice long corridors very few things to shoot just a little exploration and a couple of surprises. Perhaps good to play on a boring wet Wednesday in January while half asleep and still full of turkey etc from Christmas" - Whistle (21-Jun-2002)
"What exactly is the point of this? The bike ride is actually unnecessary as you need to monkey swing to the top of the vertical slope; the bike won't make it up there. A complete waste of time irregardless of the fact that it'll only take 5 minutes." - Orbit Dream (21-Jun-2002)
