Reviewer's comments
"This seems to be a really fancy party by all those cars throughout the mansion. It has been decorated with all the party spirit, and it does look kinda nice. However, there's not much to do apart from the classic tasks we all already know. The racetrack has been changed, but it wasn't as fun as the original TR3 one. This was okay, but every party gets a little boring after a while." - alan (14-Oct-2022)
"i liked the music, the coloured lighting effects, balloons and the jeep course but im sorry everything else is just a carbon copy of the tr3 mansion here, same textures, same layout, rooms, gameplay and tasks so totally unoriginal and dull unfortunately, one thing that is different is that there are two keys that you can find both twice, making some tasks pointless in the end" - John (10-Aug-2021)
"Well, this is the TR3 manor with some minor changes here and there and a lot of added cars, but curiously absolutely no guests whatsoever. Only poor Winston, anxiously inching towards his own death all the time. In addition to the dozen or so cars just outside the manor, the kitchen sink is a car, and so is the garden statue. Tasks are pretty similar to TR3, so you go to the attic, the artifact room, the aquarium, the racetrack. Just as I was about to finish a lap on the new race track, poor Winston was so eager to serve some tea that he voluntarily walked in front of a maximum speed jeep. RIP. 15 minutes. 02/21" - Treeble (28-Feb-2021)
"The only additions to this version of the Mansion format we've all seen before are a few weirdly placed cars, a disco lighting rig, a key and a looping music track. The required tasks haven't changed at all and there were quite a few invisible door blocks door blocks dotted around. If these minor changes attract you to play it, then by all means, but it personally did nothing for me." - Ryan (16-Jun-2018)
"The same old Lara's mansion but this time decorated with some balloons, some lights and some cars (even inside the house). The tasks are the same, the same buttons, the same timed runs, the same paths... and the rooms are darker. Several guns and ammo pickups (I don't know why), a couple of keys to find, and where are the guests at the party? Totally unremarkable." - Jose (29-Jan-2018)
"Yet another rehash of the Core Design style Croft Manor, with the only real notable differences being purely cosmetic(including some rather questionable placement of objects) and that's it. So if that sounds like your thing, give it a quick look. Otherwise, look elsewhere." - Ceamonks890 (08-Dec-2014)
"If you ever wanted a level which was already perfect, then someone came along and decided it was a good idea to make a mess of it, then this is the one for you. There are numerous faults including the cars in the kitchen or floating about, laser beams appearing through solid walls, balloon animation incorrect, switch animation incorrect, squeezed textures, no finish trigger, rain missing in some areas. The tasks here are those of the original, ie pressing buttons in various rooms, opening doors, a couple of timed runs, a ride in a jeep, a couple of swims, and an assault course. There is a positive side to the level, I've never seen outside of the gates of the manor, but this is where the level begins. This one took me 20 minutes to complete." - sonnyd83 (18-Dec-2012)
"Kookee pioneered the use of the 'take an existing prj and add a few silly bits' style of level building, which(fortunately) few other builders have bothered copying. In this case,he uses the tried-and-tested House prj and adds a lighting rig,a key and a looping audio track. That's your lot. I was a good boy and dutifully played through the scenario, performing mundane tasks which I've done countless times before,in order to write this review with a clear conscience; but it was barely worth the effort, really." - Orbit Dream (27-May-2009)
"A very good home-level if i say so myself, an apsolutly amazing disco lighting effects, when i came through the gate i was amazes to see laras house, but with loads of lights covering it. The bad side of this is that she decided to smash up her limo and smash up her counters then join the two together. Also she decided to put a car on-top of the fountin and a car in the tresure room. The best thing about this level would have to be the jeep drive, i love the look of the course that you have to drive through, but i was dissapointed that when i actually looked around the obstical course, there was only a pack of shotgun shells to pick up, was hoping there would be much more, maybe even a secret room, but sadly i was dissapointed. One last thing, i reccoment this to people who like lara's home plain and simple but want it to be a little easier, because, to tell the truth, i could walk to the secret room in lara's house when i pull the switch, because it takes forever to close. Eek, another last thing, if you want to get out of the room when the door is closed, then you have to press the switch twice, nope, he dosn't make it easy by pressing it just one time, he wants you to have to press it twice." - ColeMoles (24-Feb-2006)
"This level resembles TR3 LA training house level very much, there is an assault course almost identical to that if TR3, then there is a Jeep course. Its pretty much the same as TR3 level except for cars & discolights. Plus I cant understand what half cars were doing inside the house. And the discolights gave me a headache. All the triggers & levers are same as TR3. So I dont think there is something new regarding the gameplay in this level." - Anurag (21-Feb-2006)
"I thought this was fun. Quick, easy, over in a few minutes fun. I could just imagine Lara saying to herself, 'There's gratitude for you!, I offer my Mansion for this Ebeny person's birthday party, I hire the most expensive lighting system this side of the Atlantic, almost had a hernia blowing up dozens of gigantic baloons, upset Winston to the extent he sounds like a rusty door. I leave the big training mattress in my music room for those who need a rest, provide weapons and ammo all over the place for a fun target shooting session as a diversion; put my car in the treasure room to leave space for all the guests, got Winston to help me put another car on the fountain out of the way; I even dismantled the limo and stacked it in the kitchen to make more room . . . and for what? Not even the common decency to show up. Oh, I saw a few parked cars outside, and there was I, searching the grounds in the pouring rain, fool that I am. The jeep looks cool and was my only protection from the elements; even killed Winston when I ran over him by mistake because I asked him to help me search the grounds. What am I going to do now without my butler! Well, curse it, I know what I'll do with all these weapons and ammo when I find these people. This lasersight can see for miles. Oh, wait a minute, I've just come back from raiding on the continent, my watch is an hour fast. Doh!'." - CC (30-Aug-2005)
"Happy Birthday Eb, but this is the worst level I have ever played. All I know is, if I ever got this as a gift from someone, I think I would shoot them and myself. The lighting is horrible. I got stuck in a doorway. Cars in the kitchen? Cars hanging out of the ceiling? Cars used as sculptures for fountain heads? Come on...lol....Lara has some sort of obsession with cars. lol The bright side is that, the previous reviewers of this level made me want to play it. I haven't laughed this hard since well...ever. Especially the one person who said something about a car enthusiasts auction. Lol I'll never drive again..." - Marc (27-Feb-2005)
"And again a very boring house level like we already have played a dozen times. Okay the disco lights were to be considered nicely however they must they also go through the walls? What have cars to do in the kitchen high on top as if these would be lamps? Where were the guests where were opponents for which one has found weapons and ammunition? The music was worst nevertheless playing the same again and again. The disco lights also provided for various visits on the desktop. A level we really don't need." - Xxenofex (24-Nov-2004)
"I felt kind of voyeuristic playing a level that seems to have been built for someone in particular but in the end it felt less voyeuristic and more like deją vu. The level is exactly as you all know Lara's mansion with a few exceptions balloons everywhere coloured moving spotlights at the front of the house and in the foyer and the weirdest the kitchen seems to have been converted into a dumping ground for limousines that have been ripped in two though I think it was some sort of bug problem that should have been fixed. I would like to say there was something here worth downloading this level for but I am sorry to say I really cant find anything of great interest as the gameplay is all standard to. I hope Ebeny liked it though by the way happy birthday Eb!" - Sash (23-Oct-2004)
"The party lights and balloons were impressive and judging by the cars parked outside this should have been a great party. Never saw a guest and if they felt as nauseated as I did after a short while (the swinging lights are the culprit) I think I should look for them at the bathroom. Although talking about boring...... maybe the guest left already. Finding cars even parked in the kitchen (and badly textured as well) is not my way of fun. Glad I found the switch to turn the music off as although it was nice at the start it just went on and on. Why the Key to the maze was called Key for CD player is beyond me. 08-10-2004" - Gerty (10-Oct-2004)
"I like home levels but this was a fairly short game. It had some interesting elements like the lights balloons and the taxis/cars/jeep. Otherwise it was kind of boring. I had some missing sounds and it was raining in my foyer as well as outside. I did like having the option of turning the music off. It was nice to start with but got on the nerves after a while. I don't know about others but I found Winston especially pesky here - he trapped me in the fireplace and during the timed run. He must have been taking pep pills. Once you get a look at the kitchen you'll realize it must have been a wild party of car enthusiasts (or not)." - Lady Lara (06-Oct-2004)
"As far as I understood this level was created for someone's birthday. Well it's a mansion level and not to my liking but the balloons and jolly atmosphere made it bearable. There is of course a considerable amount of problems like horizon problems half cars in the kitchen and one in thin air to name a few. A crash while looking at the disco lights in the house wasn't very pleasant but it was a nice touch to include them in the level. The rest is well known the gym room the training area outside a key to find which leads to a jeep ride and that's all nothing new to see. Give it a try if you really like this kind of levels." - Kristina (15-Sep-2004)
"Well I must say I really liked the way the mansion was decked out for a party with the balloons and colourful spotlights and judging by the fact that there was a car in the ornamental pond I'd say it was a pretty lively affair. Otherwise this is very much the mansion as we know it at least until the kitchen which is full of half cars and apparent glimpses into outer space. It was obviously all too much for poor old Winston because at that point he stopped following me round and started walking into the kitchen units. Unfortunately that didn't last so I ended up shutting him in the freezer as usual. There aren't any surprises in terms of gameplay; basically it's a rehash of the original mansion training level but if you've never played that you might like to take a look." - Jay (08-Sep-2004)
"Well I am sure that by now we must have more than 100 Home Levels out there so why load up this one? If you are really into Home Levels this one offers a few treats like a nice use of Dark Death's AoD Lightrig object and a very cool yellow Jeep. Lara's Linkin Park outfit is nice too and the looping music track works pretty well with the setting. But of course it is still the Home as we love (or hate) it. So gameplay is the usual (with a timed run to a secret room that has nothing in it - duh) with two Jeep Keys just to be on the safe side with some missing TR3 sounds (and consequently an awkward silence when you hit water) with some object problems in the WAD which leads to a hilarious scene in the kitchen and a few other minor glitches. But in the end I guess it serves its purpose and for those of you who thrive on Lara's Home levels you may at least want to take a quick look even if only to drive the Jeep into the house and park it in the attic just for the fun of it." - Michael (06-Sep-2004)
