Reviewer's comments
"What a lovely little level! I have to say first of all i just loved the sunny bright location and setting in a small beach resort/estate, what a relaxing and gorgeous looking place to explore around. Gameplay wise this level is mostly a simple and relaxing exploration adventure with the focus mainly on platforming, climbing, acrobatics and exploring around for items and switches etc and it actually reminded me a bit of a Venice level where your jumping across to buildings, shooting windows and exploring rooftops accept this time for Easter eggs and tulips though haha! With no puzzles, no enemies and only 1 trap (involving a beach ball) players looking for a challenge maybe disappointed but with all the fun platforming and exploring in such an inviting environment this level is certainly not one to be missed!" - John (25-Apr-2023)
"A lovely and relaxing adventure through a small beach town. The general layout of the city is quite spread out, but not hard to navigate (and even easier with the walkthrough to guide you to the end) as you search for keys and buttons to proceed. There's a bit of backtracking to be done here but nothing particularly aggravating. This level also houses the heaviest beach ball of all time, so you'd better watch out. Maybe it's due to the audio tracks, but there's a bit of a TR5 Rome flavor to the general feel of this level. Definitely recommended, especially as a break between the longer releases out there. 35 minutes, 4 secrets. 11/22" - Treeble (20-Nov-2022)
"A look into Nadine's BtB helped me a lot in my package contribution and when I finished I wanted something more as a reward. I sought a short one due to imminent building phase. And here it is, built for peace and no trouble. I also haven't played a new level for months it may bias me - but maybe in this case it should. Initial run through shows discreet attempts of geometry complication and object customization marking a transition between fresh and experienced - the place is like a crossbreed of trxii and Sponge, only a decade earlier. What was I doing when I was that young? For sure I could neither craft nor appreciate art. Plus it appears here what I spotted in this builder's other games: a mature care about players. I don't just mean enemies removed to ensure Easter peace but e.g. landing in a safety pool if you swing a pole too early. I didn't know if I was supposed to shatter that lock with pistols but it only reduced backtracking so I rate in favor of the author. Secrets are properly cleverer than the main progress, which gets kinda boring in time, after visiting a series of patios with pianos and flower pots. What makes it better is varying architecture allowing these furnitures to exist in different configurations - the cityscape just makes sense. What nothing can help is lots of switches pressed and lots of pickups found in odd places, identical issue as in Reign of Chaos - and if I mention that already, the final part gave me Mexico vibes with its coloful palette. Finally, the setting would be much better with some inhabitants, not neccessarily human - lack of enemies is one thing, lack of life is another. SUMMARY: A simple level to explore and relax, just a break I wanted before the building mess begins." - DJ Full (14-Nov-2016)
"This is a peaceful, stress-free and enjoyable level set in a beautifully textured environment. Again, as with so many of these seasonal levels, enemies won't intrude on your exploration, so I spent an enjoyable half hour roaming this beautiful level for sneakily hidden tulips, secrets and keys and doing a spot of climbing and pole swinging. Recommended for a relaxing raid." - Ryan (25-Oct-2016)
"What a magnificent level! Very nice and I loved it. It was a very nice easter level. The texturing was very good especially inside the buildings. The object placements was brilliant and the gameplay was really good. The level was pretty short but nevertheless loved it. There were no enemies here but I think that makes it better considering it is an easter level. The secrets were placed very well also. The cameras were used very well and so were the flyby cameras. The areas you visit were really nice like the mansion, the beach and some plazas. I really enjoyed this level and hope to play more levels by this brilliant builder. Highly recommended." - afzalmiah (07-Nov-2011)
"Here's a nice Easter level with a beach resort setting. The architectural appointments are visually pleasing and there's ample lighting for the player to enjoy everything, a combination which I always appreciate in a level. We no longer have access to this talented builder's body of work here at trle.net, but we can still submit reviews, so review it I shall. Having once been offered for public consumption, the levels thereby became part of the public domain and all can still be obtained at the Hungarian site (see link on the home page). There's a little bit of unwelcome backtracking near the end, but for the most part you'll have a pleasant, enemy-free raid of about an hour. Our now departed and sorely missed Selene has provided a walkthrough that documents the four secrets, all of which require a little extra effort to get. I'm surprised I hadn't played this one before now, but it's certainly worth the effort to go find it and play it." - Phil (20-Jul-2011)
"A beautiful feel-good adventure, with a holiday feel, perfect for some carefree gaming. Lara is in Corsica, wandering in lovely exterior locations and tastefully decorated interiors, looking for easter eggs and tulips. There are no enemies, so you can marvel at the settings as you go. Although this is an Easter level, it has a summery feel to it, but in any event it's recommended to everybody: those who like challenging levels will surely enjoy it because there are a few tasks that do require thinking and there's a fair amount of exploration too; but also those who don't prefer requiring levels will like it too, as said tasks are not difficult to carry out. The textures are rather fitting for the theme, as to a degree you do get the feel of being in a mediterranean island with its sunny gardens, calm beaches and charming side-streets with local shops. Gameplay is not demanding, but still there are some nice moves to do. Overall a charming level that you can play any time." - Ravenwen (16-Jun-2009)
"Beautiful and peaceful level. No enemies, and no traps. Just finding secrets, keys and buttons. I liked wonderful beach and mansions. Beside I found another shortcut. It's from beach to starting plaza. When you are in beach, go under the bridge and to area with too pools. Go upstairs and pull lever behind blue flower. And you will be in roof at starting area." - Andzia9 (12-Apr-2009)
"It's always nice to have a calm TR experience once in a while, and this is the perfect solution. Exploring the beautifully decorated and laid out streets was a pleasure, and the beach with its sand and clear waters was great to visit. The atmosphere was really good, and it actually felt like a little seaside town. The gameplay is pretty simple, and there are pretty much no traps here (apart from a giant 'beachball-boulder'). It mostly consists of jumping around rooftops and swinging across poles/tightrope walking to reach other areas. My visit to Corsica was very nice indeed, and this is definitely a recommended level." - Spike (28-Jul-2007)
"When I played this level some time ago I really liked it. :-) It is really good to stop fighting sometimes. No enemy who are waiting for Lara after a corner, no sprint to avoid big boulders in a little corridor... I really liked this level where there isn't any danger for Lara. The little village is really beautiful and walking in the alleys or on the beach was really relaxing. I liked to search easter eggs and tulips to finish the level completely. :-) I'll recommend it to beginners and also to others who want a quiet game for a while." - TimJ (20-Jul-2007)
"After killing, fighting for survival, killing and more killing it's always refreshing to spend time in a phyically relaxing level where never a shot is fired in anger and the atmosphere is serene and calming;such is the case here. 'Corsica' is not so much a 'level' as a beautifully realised environment, into which elements of Gameplay (the 'search and use' variety) have been inserted.Combined with some clever acrobatics (the pole-swinging sequences are superb,as is the pole-walking and the clever rock gymnastics)and a huge eye for beguiling detail, and I subsequently spent a calming and intriguing hour here and enjoyed it thoroughly. Perhaps it was a little too non-linear for my liking (but that is purely a personal preference and doesn't reflect in the scoring)and the placing of the four tulips (although elusively hinted at) was a little too obscure (a camera hint would not have gone unappreciated),but the construction is absolutely faultless and there's little here that even a novice raider would find too demanding provided they kept their eyes open.Thoroughly reccommended for an absorbing and stress-free outing." - Orbit Dream (19-Jan-2006)
"This Easter level by Horus is something to itself. In this harmonious, peaceful level Lara is on a holiday at the island Corsica and there is quite a bit there to explore for our heroine. The scenery on the island is absolutely stunning. There are flagpoles with the national flag waving proudly in the wind, there are pool areas with sun chairs and colourful plastic balls, there are white-chalked Mediterranean style houses and mansions and there are beaches with palm trees, glittering ocean and parasols. The whole level is well lit to make it seem sunny and bright and it has a very comfortable holiday feel to it. Lara looks great in her black outfit and the soothing sounds of waves crashing against the shore and the screams of seagulls follow you as you explore the island. Of puzzles there are buttons that must be pushed, crawlspaces, traversing and houses to explore. You can even walk on and swing from flagpoles. Lara must also find some keys and four tulips before the end of the level. There are four secrets in the level that are very well hidden and not always so easy to reach and they come gorgeously in the shape of differently coloured Easter eggs. This level is an absolute recommendation.....now you can go on a free Mediterranean holiday in your own home." - Selene (09-Jan-2006)
"Here we go with an Easter level which will keep you busy for an hour or so, without enemies, but not necessarily a child's play as it gets tricky sometimes. Golden keys hidden next to yellow flowers fooled me once, and a walk on the tightrope is always demanding attention. In between the houses, there is a beach area and a cave to explore. I found 3 out of 4 secrets (Easter eggs, naturally) and in an eggshell, uh, nutshell: jolly good fun!" - Rüdiger (03-Jun-2005)
"I can't begin to tell you how refreshing this level was to play. Not only does Nadine give you a really fun level to play but she also conveys the look of a Mediterranean beach resort picture perfectly with the most wonderful sandy beach festooned with umbrellas and deck chairs. I would have to say that the average raider could play this one without much worry but you just have to realise that certain horizontal poles are used interactively to help progression or you could be wandering around the start area like a lost lamb wondering how to move on. This 45 minute level, with 4 Easter egg secrets to find, really put a smile on my face and there is no doubt in my mind it will do the same for you, so do yourself a favour and go play it." - Sash (26-May-2005)
"This Easter-level is very good. There are no enemies during the adventure, but many tasks. We have to collect 4 tulips, and in the meantime 4 Easter Eggs in the four secrets. Meanwhile we have to find keys too. Pole swinging, jumping, then pole-walking, jumping, and finding buttons feature this fantastic level. We need the Revolver and the Laser Sight, but we can ignore them at some places. I wouldn't suggest this level for beginners, but who's a beginner anyways. Those who play custom levels, well, those are definitely not. So I suggest everybody to play it; the textures are wonderful, the added sounds, music could be a little bit more individual, but this level has a good feeling even so. :) You can find a Hungarian walkthrough (as we don't have English version), savegames and pictures here: http://treditor.hu/15/corsica.htm " - Obig (03-May-2005)
"This is one of the Easter levels, but Easter at the seaside on the island of Corsica. The atmosphere is so good I actually felt like I was on holiday, with the beach, the town streets, sun loungers, tables and chairs, beach balls, swimming pools, balconys, etc.Horus has created a wonderful place that I will be visiting again. And a safe place for children to play this level as there is practically no danger. This comes across so well on the beach with the beach balls, sun loungers and large sun umbrellas, you can almost hear the children laughing, and almost see the odd couple passing by for an ice cream. The fun includes finding well hidden Easter eggs, keys and even better hidden tulips. You need four tulips to place in a ringed plant. Finding all these involves a couple of brilliant vaults on flag poles, a careful 'tightrope' walk across another flagpole, shooting out windows ala Venice style, opening all the gates of the town to allow access to all areas and back again, and generally having fun rummaging in other people's apartments. The textures are done so well, it looks like a holiday apartment block in one street, and lovely lighted steps in other streets. Without the Easter eggs this would make an excellent summer holiday release level. Highly recommended for sheer fun. Again, I wish to thank all the builders who took created such wonderful levels for Easter. These and the Christmas levels are enchanting and I for one am grateful that we have such brilliant builders out there who are continually delighting us with their skill and imagination. All these levels are suitable for children, and are an absolute delight to play for adults. Long may you all continue, you're great." - CC (28-Apr-2005)
"Wow, I had a great time playing this level. A lot of care has been put in the design of this little Corsican town and the beach. I really loved exploring here, finding my way, making some interesting moves, and finding the secrets were little puzzles of their own. I did not miss any baddy at all. One sunny hour or so of very happy raiding." - eRIC (27-Apr-2005)
"The setting, the textures to be more exact reminded me of Aegean Legends but overall it has nice beaches and gardens. The idea is to find Easter Eggs and four secrets, which I did find. There are also keys and tulips to pick up with most of the level being in the outside with a couple of building to access. As expected there are no enemies so it's a pleasant walk in beautiful surroundings. Colourful and enjoyable, do try it." - Kristina (25-Apr-2005)
"Springtime is also time for Easter and the picture fits though. At the moment it isn't as sunny and as flowery at where I live, but the crocuses are doing their damnedest to show that spring is in the air. As for the game I had to scratch my head a couple of times as the swinging and walking the tight ropes didn't come up in my head and to be honest I hate those moves. That also means I am very bad in executing them. Of course the secrets had to be Easter Eggs and I found 4, just by plain luck I have to say as I needed desperately the last tulip and going back and fro for the fourth time, I found the Eggs and last but not least the last tulip. Getting my hands on that basket full of Easter Eggs was a bit to greedy as I hit the finishing trigger. 28-03-2005" - Gerty (23-Apr-2005)
"This level is like holidays; in fact, the village is very similar to the Spanish villages in the Mediterranean coast. All is beautiful and pleasant; everybody is sleeping 'siesta', even the enemies (that I've missed a lot). The secrets (Easter eggs) are well placed, and there are few nice puzzles. The objects to find are tulips and keys; the revolver is useful only to get secrets, the lock under the beachball (great!) can be done without it. Nice level that reminds me of the Santorini Intermezzo from the Aegean legends (Trix)." - Loupar (18-Apr-2005)
"Marvellous level, lovely level, beautiful level, fantastic level... Good puzzles, only I didn't like go to the mansion for the revolver, have to get back for some tulip and return again to the mansion. Last secret was hard to get. (It was difficult to shoot the padlock behind the fence). Perfect objects. Perhaps could be some cameras to better show the sceneries and give a professional touch to the game. TR5 features are well implemented. A sunny day to show magnificent textures which are the best of the level. Congratulations Nadine!" - Jose (15-Apr-2005)
"A consistently beautiful level, highly playable. The average player (me) could navigate this dazzling level without a walk-through, and still find all secrets. Too often the dark, turgid levels get praise for 'atmosphere', but here is a level where the author dares to give us a treat with bright Mediteranean sun. Wonderfully textured and designed. Gives the feeling of lots of movement. If you know about the 'Purloined Letter', you'll guess how many of the objects are hidden in plain sight, a nice touch. No hanging boulders fall and crush Lara, no spikes impale her, and frankly I found this a relief. I wanted the level to go on, but it ended too soon. Wish there were more levels like this." - dmdibl (12-Apr-2005)
"A feel-good Holiday level if there ever was one. 40 minutes of pure enjoyment as you roam around a wonderfully bright and colourful Mediterranean scenery in search of keys, tulips and Easter Egg secrets. The setting is quite breathtaking and helped me get over the fact that when I initially tested this level I got a bit frustrated as the key items seem a bit listlessly thrown into the flowers in various corners, so keep your eyes open or you will have to do quite a bit of backtracking. The good thing is of course that you can do this backtracking as the level opens up nicely and you can get to all places all the time. There is a bit of tightrope walking to do, some light acrobatics and a few buttons to press, so nothing out of the ordinary - but when you play in such a place that doesn't even register. Great fun! And make sure you go for the four secrets for a bit of an extra challenge." - Michael (10-Apr-2005)
"The first thing to say about this level is that it looks gorgeous. I always enjoy exploring an attractive village setting and this is particularly inviting. It's like being on holiday - sightseeing, swimming, exploring the beachside caves. I was having such a lovely time, I almost forgot to look for keys and things. There are Easter egg secrets to find and tulips to collect and the whole thing is such a delight I was sorry to finish. I guarantee you'll be charmed by this one." - Jay (07-Apr-2005)
"Of the many words that I can describe this level, well, I'd say that it's a good, relaxing level. Here we are in Corsica on Easter, exploring this wonderful city with the perfect holiday atmosphere, swinging on flagpoles and even walking on them. Most of the time in this level you are looking for keys and tulips that are cleverly hidden, usually concealed by the vegetation, and it's also worth looking for the Easter egg secrets, which are fun to get to if I do say so myself. This level contains some realistic city textures, and vacation themed objects, like the beach chairs and the beach balls. The beach and the mansion areas looked really nice, as did most of this level's architecture. I was a bit sad that this level came to an end, just as I was really getting into it, but it was fun. I'd recommend this level to those people who would like to play a level that has a 'brighter' atmosphere to it." - Relic Hunter (04-Apr-2005)
"What a nifty idea of finding the level yourself, my family hasn't done this Easter tradition for ages, so it added a nice twist in addition to simply downloading and playing it. Mind you, I'm glad I don't have to look for all the other levels out there like this, though. Anyway to the level itself - only 1 other level has been able to convey a perfect holiday atmosphere that's been done here very well, and that's Trix's 'Santorini Intermezzo' from her Aegean Legends series. Really, if this level is anything close to the real thing, I can't imagine a better commercial for the isle of Corsica. I've wanted to visit it sometime anyway, and this beautiful, atmospheric and fun in a sneaky kind of way level makes me feel sorry that it isn't summer over here yet. Lara seldom if at all is at the risk of dying here, because there are no enemies, (which also makes this stunning place seem deserted, what I believe wouldn't be possible in real life) and there's only one threatening beachball that will squash you if you don't jump out of its way in time (then again, you might as well wait till you get the revolver and lasersight and return to here and shoot the lock from safety), otherwise, the relatively big heights might be something that cuts Lara's life bar shorter, but to die you'd have to be suicidal, really. This makes this level suitable for anyone to play, and it really is highly recommended if you want something fun, and where you can hardly fail at. Also another good thing to this Easter special are the four coloured eggs - secrets. I found all to be hidden very cleverly and I had my fun finding the four of them. Really what more can I say - maybe besides the eggs you wouldn't actually tell this is an Easter level, but it is worth playing nonetheless for the sneaky search for tulips, keys, buttons and secrets and some wonderful eye candy - don't miss this out!" - eTux (27-Mar-2005)
