Reviewer's comments
"There are some interesting moments in this level as it holds quite a few sneaky traps for the unwary raider, plus an encounter with that stupid, uncooperative bull. I wasn't sure whether to be amused or irritated by the fixed camera angles in the passages with the circular blade traps, but it certainly made it slightly challenging. Not a bad little workhorse of a level basically." - Jay (20-Feb-2018)
"Quite a claustrophobic little level, with very narrow and tight passages. Gameplay wise it's a pretty standard search for the Ba Cartouche, requiring the two hands to open side passages where each half of the cartouche is. There are a few things here, such as the nine flames puzzle (which yes, you have to extinguish all of them although the outcome for doing so -- a remote door opening -- is not even audible) and the flipmap revealing a hidden passage to a partly effective mirror room. Texture work is questionable all around, however, with stretched and compressed textures everywhere but it seems they were randomly applied for the majority of time. 25 minutes, 1 secret. 02/18" - Treeble (11-Feb-2018)
"This is a surprisingly enjoyable little level from the olden days. Although the duration for me was short at around half an hour, the gameplay is quite entertaining and varied with plenty of devious blade traps (circular and floor), an ingenious little "find the safe way across the floor" puzzle, a bull fight(the damn thing didn't cooperate that well for me this time) and a little torch sequence for a secret. The enemies are only bats and the environment is purely functional although not attractive, but as mentioned, this has its fair share of entertainment value." - Ryan (15-Dec-2017)
"This is a pleasant Egyptian raid of about 45 minutes. It has plenty of light and interesting tasks, all documented quite fluidly in Dutchy's walkthrough. There's even a bullfight thrown in to make things interesting. Other than bats and a beetle near the end, I don't recall any other enemies. Spike traps and blade traps are scattered about, so you need to stay on your toes. You also get to activate a laser that reveals a pickup, something I haven't seen for a while in a custom level. Good entertainment all around." - Phil (21-Oct-2016)
"My rating is intentionally higher than the normal on this one, despite the shortness of the level, but I had such a great time playing this 30 minutes raid built with the Guardian of Semerkhet and Tomb of Seth resources. I think the author could be quite a good and imaginative builder, and here you have good puzzles and good use of objects. I found 3 secrets and one of them implies an extra torch puzzle to get the shotgun. The texturing is not perfect , but the lighting is rather good and it is not a dark level. Very good use of fixed cameras at one point to pass the stargates. A level that I delighted a great deal. Make sure to place an Audio file 034 (the regular Audio background loop 109 works great here) to enjoy it. Once again , the gameplay was pretty good and the ideas were fine and well executed technically." - eRIC (01-Nov-2008)
"This is one of those enjoyable little adventures where you need to keep continually on your toes,as anything could happen to you (and probably will). There's never a dull moment as you negotiate a series of smart traps and gauntlets, run from a Bull, avoid nefarious impalement opportunities;in other words, have an enjoyable time. Although textures and lighting are adequate, they're nothing to write home about;and more could have been made of music. There is,however,a degree of replay value as three of the four secrets are really deviously concealed and will almost certainly be missed the first time around. For a fun little blast this level is well recommended." - Orbit Dream (22-Feb-2007)
"It's a very simple level with a guardian key to get that has no use, a vraeus and a bull you need to lure in order to smash-open a door for you. The settomb wad has been used to create the setting which is not appealing at all. I found three secrets and didn't like this one as it has nothing we haven't seen before and didn't keep my interest. Luckily it is very short, about twenty minutes long." - Kristina (07-May-2006)
"I played this a wile ago, but as my PC froze I lost quite a few reviews and my own memory isn't what it used to be I had to play them all over again. I didn't mind, as this was a pleasure. Set underground and pretty dark at places there are traps to avoid. Liked the puzzle with the hieroglyphic tile jumping. The bull always is an adrenaline rush as sometimes it can be pretty fickle. The best is the hunt for secrets as they aren't that straight forward to find" - Gerty (25-Mar-2006)
"A short level with many dark areas, you will not can illuminate some of then even with flares or binocs (many shadows). You'll find many dangers too and all the types of blades you can imagine. In the enemies section I only find the big bull and some bats. Textures from settomb level and not very interesting puzzles. No much more to say about this standard level." - Jose (03-Mar-2006)
"This is a fun, albeit short, level that keeps you on your toes throughout. Easily playable by an eternal beginner though I did manage to finish without finding a single secret. :-D Not a great amount of enemies - mostly bats - but a goodly amount of blade traps of several varieties. These are a most fulfilling challenge to survive - especially the stargates with fixed camera angles. I'm not usually a fan of fixed cameras but, for some reason, these seemed to add a new dimension of challenge to the trap. I loved the animation where the laser revealed the object of our quest and I felt genuinely saddened when the adventure ended so soon after getting into the spirit of adventure. Good level anyway." - Staticon (26-Feb-2006)
"Gameplay not bad with plenty to do in this short level, with enough traps to make it a little tasking. Enemies on the shortage side with only bats and one bull to contend with and pickups etc not really needed. The lighting and textures did combine to give some atmosphere but with a short level like this it is hard to give it a good mark. The camera angles at time allowed things like walls and doors to get in the way of seeing what Lara is trying to do. The biggest downer was the musak-really got on my nerves and had to turn it off fairly early on. Perhaps the addition of further sections will greatly improve the level generally." - Whistle (24-Feb-2006)
"I really had fun with this level once I got into it. The bats were placed exactly in the right places to be really annoying, and the bull wasn't too nasty. Enjoyed all of the blade traps, except for the circular ones! I always find these difficult. Was really just getting into it and it was all over!" - Moonliteshadow (09-Feb-2006)
"Well this was a surprisingly good level, the game play was very good. A nice variety of the older traps. well put together. Like the Rotating Knives where a fixed camera added to the difficulty. The Bull was a crime. Couldn't get that thing to that door for a long time he always came from the side until I made a bold move and lured him into the passage, then jumped past him and he finally came straight to the door. The only thing I though could have been better was the texturing in some places as it was kind of stretched, that would be a great improvement of the level. Same as the connection to the 3 levels, if they were put together with a level jump and the script fixed so items got a name my score would have been even higher. Very nice level of the old school. Got 4 Secrets." - Dutchy (08-Feb-2006)
"Way back when I had a lot of fun with NepT1's debut level, so I was very happy when he emailed me and informed me that actually there are three more levels by him to play. Now these have been built almost 4 years ago and in a way you see this, but this one here still offers an easy 20 minutes raid in a Settomb/Guard WAD environment, with a bull to deal with, a nice secret that you need the torch for, plenty of blade traps and a nice sequence with slicer dicers to get the guardian key. Found 3 secrets, the third actually being the end of the level." - MichaelP (05-Feb-2006)
"I wasn't sure I was going to like this much as the start felt a little uninspired, but as soon as you hit the bull room it all seemed to get a whole lot more fun. You have to take into account though this is only 30 minutes long and that isn't a long time nowadays for a level, and unfortunately when it was getting better, wham bam it was all over. Not fair. This game is set underground in a settomb environment where you'll find lots of traps, especially as it progresses, and also some of the old puzzles that it seems I haven't come across in ages such as a hieroglyphic tile jump with a cool glass viewing area that gives you the solution, there is also a hallway of stargates around another glass enclosure which holds a miniature Egyptian landscape and a mechanised laser arm that was fun to get around. But what I really enjoyed were the 4 secrets as they were all well thought out, the fourth of these my favourite as it was so smartly placed and a real hoot to work out how to get to it. If you don't mind the short duration then this is a really nice game to play." - Sash (04-Feb-2006)
