Reviewer's comments
"This looks like a safari shooting trip from hell but set in a small walled area and not with the regular animals you would expect. Even the nightmare I usually have when I have the flu does not make me sweat so much. In between shooting the living daylights out of the creatures you would think you can get a rest in the cosy bed and do some binge watching on the nice flatscreen in one of the upper rooms. But nooooo, there is no wi-fi, no satellite dish, zip, nada, niente. So what's the use to have a Netflix subscription? At least the author gives you some a break in providing, albeit a very tiny, swimming pool so you can cool off a bit." - bERT (01-Oct-2022)
"Well that certainly is an outfit if ever there was one. The boulder-head bears in this are awesome. Well done Cain, a truly beautiful home." - Sethian (10-Dec-2020)
"A 10 minute level with a nice Outfit for Lara, I'll give some points because I liked the spike head lion. 10/40" - JoeTheCrazyGamer (08-Apr-2020)
"I thought I'd seen everything that was weird in custom levels, then along comes Cain with this little oddity. Lara's sprouted a rat's head and seems to be chattering her teeth intermittently. Again blast away everything you encounter and then by all means exit manually as there's no finish trigger I could see. I did wonder at the reason for the additional messages in the download, but what Cain wrote did make me laugh a bit." - Ryan (26-Mar-2019)
"What. The. Hell?! Why does Lara have a rat face?! That's the creepiest and weirdest outfit I have ever seen in the history of TRLE. Now, this doesn't look a lot like a house, it's just a big field with two plain buildings that contain a TV, a bed and things on them. The enemies are weird too, consisting of those eels, huge lions with spike heads and soldiers dressed as God knows what. Even one of those lions appeared on the roof of one of the buildings, and I died after it pushed me off. But that's all you do in this level. Every time they're getting weirder and weirder..." - alan (16-Jan-2019)
"Except for the inventiveness in the enemies and Lara sprouting a rats head this is one for the trash bin I am sorry. You pick up ammo and weaponry, and get attacked by multiple opponents with every switch you use. Once defeated there is no end trigger." - Torry (23-Sep-2018)
"Another Cain level that includes the exact same issues as always, with your only goal being to destroy all of the bizarre creations that you would usually come across in any other level from the builder in question(unless you decide to prematurely stop out of boredom like I did), due to the generally tedious and unfair nature of the enemy spawning. So much like I said previously, you'd be much better off skipping this one altogether if you can help it, as there's ultimately nothing remarkable to be found here overall." - Ceamonks890 (04-Dec-2014)
"This level is completely hard in the shooters elements and... We only do this, we have only 3 different weapons but I wish I had more ammunition for the grenade launcher because you must shoot and fleeing. Nothing more to say, the textures are basic and wallpapered, and the atmosphere is missing. THERE IS TOO MANY ENEMIES!" - Quentin (04-Apr-2014)
"Again, again... no pain, No Cain. I like this guy, no matter what people think about him. Some of his works are definitely poor, but some remain underrated only because of the fact players got used to Cain's style, and everytime when they see something new from this author, they get prejudiced at once. I know this is not their fault, but on the other hand I also don't treat Cain's levels as a fault. Still, I feel objective when rating this one - without gameplay, with no puzzles, no atmosphere, no cameras and full of annoying sound. That's what is bad here. For good things, players got another mindless ridiculosity. And I like it. SUMMARY: This game doesn't exist in technical, intellectual or adventure field. All players searching for clever puzzles and mysteries are allowed to skip this classic. Despite it IS a classic." - DJ Full (13-Oct-2010)
"The master of the bad taste and weird humor has struck once more. Well, I did not find it so amusing to see Lara in Bunny clothes with arat's head, what however quite unambiguously lay on the Bunny clothes. Cains home looks very strange. What does he make in the wintertime? He must freeze quite frightfully. Does he live voluntarily there, or was he forced to it? And why was the beginning text faded in so often? Did Cain think possibly which the players are so forgetful which they do not know after a few steps any more what they should make? And why are his domestic animals so crusty? Has Cain not fed them enough? Questions about the questions on which we are never probably got an answer. And now I must get rid of my very big grin." - Scottie (09-Jun-2009)
"I had to laugh at Ruben's review, especially after looking at how he reviewed "Cain's Tower" from the same author. Anyway, what you get here is a single box filled with 40 or so animals. I only found extra firepower after dealing with all of them. 10 minutes. 03/08" - Treeble (02-Mar-2008)
"Ok, this is probably the strangest custom level i have ever played! :p There is no atmosphere, lightning and real puzzles. Just some levers to pull to trigger lots of strange enemies we're used to see in Cain's levels. I give it a 3 on objects because of the strange and funny Lara model, but nothing else." - Larson 1988 (15-Feb-2008)
"I can hardly follow my fellow reviewers points of view , all trying very hard to pick up any INCONVENIENCES in this beautifully designed masterpiece ! Is it that most players just do not understand that Cains Home is so much different to all your custom styled hideaways in which you are wasting your precious time sitting in front of a screen chasing enemies in an imaginary world ? Has anyone ever opened the chests of Cains treasure or has even walked through all the doors that Cain keeps well hidden from the eyes of the unrighteous ? Heed my prophecy all you disbelievers and self-styled rulers in this TRLE world : we all remember Psikos game TR-A and the doom the skull was pronouncing , don't we ? CAIN the MIGHTY is coming !" - Ruben (14-Jan-2008)
"Awful, why build 3 levels in a week? Because you can? No point, Cain should be thankful i gave a score and even bothered reviewing it. It was truly awful, not worth the download." - Cory (09-Oct-2007)
"I am not sure what the builder likes in such levels but this one is again full of enemies and nothing more. You pick up some ammo and weapons and then watch a"thing" that is supposed to be Lara (?) in a red bunny suit with either a bunny's or a mouse's head, probably the first judging from the crooked teeth. I don't like any of the levels so far." - Kristina (21-Sep-2007)
"Well, this was odd. Running around a poorly textured 'garden' and wandering through some hollow blocks (that are supposed to be houses) is not something that I tend to enjoy. It makes sense then, that I did not particularly like this level much. While the selection of objects was original, and even though I had one or two laughs at the enemies and Lara's head, it was severely lacking in the gameplay and visual department. Not an essential download, but worth a look if you want a quick laugh." - Spike (16-Sep-2007)
"Play this level only if you want to see Lara with the head of a rat and bears with a spike ball head. There are three levers and when you pull one of them a lot of enemies (bears snakes and hell knights) appear so you can kill them. That's all." - Jose (11-Sep-2007)
"Hmmm well this is food for thought, not only by seeing the level but also by all the little messages he has put in his download. Oh well another notch on my belt so to speak." - Gerty (01-Sep-2007)
"I like humour. I really do! Sometimes I even like it very dark and twisted and this could've been right up my alley if it would have been a proper level. All you can do is collect all the ammo there is and then flick the 3 switches to unleash the massacre of boulder-headed bears, scarecrows and giant eels unto a rat-headed bunny-suited Lara. As there really is nothing else to do. Knowing the level editor's specifics - you can try and not touch the bears, as they will battle the eels and scarecrows before attacking Lara, to make the odds a little bit more even, but even that barely makes up for what complete drought there is in the gameplay department. I also still am clueless what all the audio tracks that do nothing but 'click' are for? I suppose it may be something used by the level manager, but probably nothing those, who, like me, install the level the old-fashioned way will find out about. If you want to give a joke level a try, or generally like them weird - give this a go, if you're looking for a proper level, do so elsewhere." - eTux (31-Aug-2007)
"All right, the weirdness continues and I'm beginning to thing Cain is seriously disturbed. This is basically part two of The Break In and not only are the enemies becoming even more bizarre, but also Lara herself has what appears to be a rat's head and is wearing a bright red bunny girl costume. I really don't know what else to say, other than I think I'm going to go and lie down for a bit now." - Jay (29-Aug-2007)
"Another shoot-a-thon from Cain; this time with helpful messages at certain points. I actually thought I was going to wet myself I laughed so much when reading them! They earned Cain the extra point in Gameplay & Puzzles as I didn't know where else to put it. {Unfortunately the messages weren't set to"one-shot" so you got them every time you went over the trigger, thus more laughter.} Cain's home consists of two rather small towers but one is furnished with that all important TV! There are also stretched/wallpapered textures and paper thin walls. The gameplay consisted of stealing Cain's"treasured possessions" {weapons} to blow giant eels, bears with boulders for heads {I think possibly the best custom enemy ever devised} and strange scarecrow like men to smithereens. There are three levers to pull, two ladders to climb and Cain's well to swim in! I'm not sure I like Lara's new 'hair do' though. And I didn't find any secrets or a finish trigger..." - Kitkat (28-Aug-2007)
"This is another strange level by Cain but it is classed as a joke level. Lara sports a rat's head and a bunny girl type outfit complete with tail. There are lions or bears with spike ball's for heads & one eye, the giant worms again and something which reminded me of the tin man from the wizard of Oz. The game play is just push a couple of levers and shoot everything that moves.I also could not find any finish trigger. It's worth playing just to see the strange objects." - Bedazzled (28-Aug-2007)
"Have you always dreamed of playing a level featuring a Rat dressed in a bikini who goes around shooting masses of huge eels, deformed comic lions and assorted tribesmen in a bland environment with no finishing trigger? Then, boy;do I have the level for you!" - Orbit Dream (27-Aug-2007)
"And another oddity from Cain. Worth a look only if you would like to see Lara with a rat head and bears with boulder heads and some more of those eels. Nothing to do other than blast everything away that moves and then wonder what it was all for." - MichaelP (27-Aug-2007)
