Reviewer's comments
"First of all, I must say the builder had rightfully stated in the README file that this is his first level, which means we should have been softer and more sympathetic with our reviews, but I guess some didn't take that into consideration, and some ratings can well lead to a builder's desperate ending in the community, which is a big shame. Although I know this review is not that much able to bring the score up and it will have no effect on the builder himself to make him change his mind, I give this the best scores it deserves. Recommended. Thank you!" - Mehrbod (27-Mar-2020)
"A rather competent debut effort and I would have liked to see more from this builder. The gameplay progresses very smoothly and in a linear fashion and there isn't anything to really challenge you, but it does at least provide a certain level of entertainment for 20 minutes or so. The surroundings are reasonably made (if a little too dark in a few spots) in a brown and sandy sort of way and the atmosphere is pretty nicely done. I'm wondering if there was meant to be more to this adventure though, as Lara left without locating another (presumable) Eye Piece to match the one she had." - Ryan (07-Nov-2018)
"An average level set in Egypt with easy gameplay, some ninjas, mummies and scorpions to shoot. I found 1 secret in this level, though I think the crossbow should count as one too. Some doors remained closed for me, but I guess that secrets 2 and 3 were behind those doors. This is the first and last part of the series that the author was planning to release. I finished the level with a part of the eye of Horus in the inventory." - alan (31-Oct-2017)
"Nice pyramid level with many enemies like ninjas, scorpions and mummies. I found Uzizs and Shotgun. Level took time 25 minutes for me. Level for beginners." - vienna (12-Sep-2016)
"Given that this was quite an assured debut level, one wonders why this particular builder never bothered to follow up with another offering. A shame really. This certainly is fairly competently and attractively built and, whilst the gameplay is straightforward and readily achievable, it moves along nicely and is entertaining enough for its 25 minute duration. The usual suspects crop up, i.e. ninjas, scorpions and mummies, with plenty of weaponry provided to deal with them all without breaking into a sweat. Lara gets to end the level with just half an eyepiece in her backpack, so perhaps she was intending to come back for the second half. Who knows?" - Jay (03-Jun-2015)
"Another Egyptian level ingloriously. Excessive darkness in many rooms and the same monotonous texturization. The low rate in the gameplay is 'cause you can arrive to the end of the level without the needed hand and there's no way to go back to recover that item; also there are several bad placed doors with the invisible block in front of it (remember this if you can run off the water holes). I liked the location of the secrets and cameras and flybies showing you important locations; also the musics are not bad and there are enough guns and ammo if you discover the secrets but it could have more variety of enemies and not only ninjas, mummies and red scorpions. Not a bad level but not very entertaining for me." - Jose (30-Apr-2015)
"A very nice straightforward level set in Egypt. Gameplay was rather easy, enemies well placed, some useless fly-bys but rather well made. Nothing more to say. A lvel for beginners or just to keep you entertained for about 20 minutes" - Gonxii (01-Oct-2013)
One of the superior adaptations of the tutorial level. It is textured and lighted in such a way that I felt I was actually in a tomb, cold, dark and spooky. At the very start if the player is tempted to slide down the slope they are stuck forever. So dive in the pool first. This kind of choice crops up again later with a monkeyswing. When I finished I remember having the impression I had missed some things, one being a waterhole in a room of three waterholes to find switches. I reached a hand receptacle with the hand I got just outside only to find it didn't work., (very funny how the erratic flyby zooms right in to the receptacle, almost as if it's going to crash into it, lol). I didn't see the hand lying on the dark floor in a previous room. We leave with half an eyepiece, no doubt to bring into the next level. Lara was squashed by a couple of boulders until I paid attention to the ceiling, and some well placed ninjas, mummys and scorpions about. There are some beginners problems but the level is well worth looking at. - CC (12-Jul-2005)
"This was a nice short raid with a fine storyline it's just a pity that the author never came up with the second part of what was supposed to be a trilogy. It's just a regular reworked tut1 environment so you shouldn't expect novelties. The textures were nicely applied in my opinion and all in all this was quite a fine debut level! 20 minutes 3 secrets." - Treeble (20-Sep-2004)
"Nothing special about this level that I can say another tut1 level so simple many Ninjas to shoot two Hands of Sirius and only half an Eye piece the second not found... the level ends before." - Yoav (27-May-2004)
"A first try and not too bad I would say. It's a standard tutorial level with a few slides and two hands to find; also I picked up have of the Eye of Horus. Mummies ninjas scorpions were the enemies and big areas that looked like caves. In some areas the textures are stretched but that's a beginners error although could be avoided. Three secrets all of them being guns in a fifteen minutes level." - Kristina (05-Aug-2003)
"I found this to be a little more than a tutorial level as it is not as linear as a tutorial. I did find myself going through that angled crawlspace to end up in the room with 2 mummies and a moving statue to get to another crawlspace. Without the crossbow you are stuck forever as you cannot crawl out of the crawlspace with the mummies there. The level moved along nicely finding 2 hands plenty of pickups while shooting more ninjas than I care to and a few scorpions. A monkeyswing to descend from a high area and some swimming and switches. In the end Lara exits outside with only one half of the eyepiece." - Momster (19-Aug-2002)
"I would have loved to have given this level a much higher rating but unfortunately it only lasted 25 minutes. With a moody atmosphere helped by some great lighting 3 well placed secrets some nice textures and a good amount of enemies this was a short but well put together first attempt by this creator." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"A first creation of a level and therefore more in an experimental state. There is a very short linear way through the level with some side-turns where you can get secrets and more pick-ups. The rooms are quite big and mostly square-like some water textures are missing doors are placed incorrectly so that you run against invisible walls. Most severely though there is a design error that when you miss the Hand of Orion you cannot get back to it later and have to start over again which is not a big issue though as the level all in all barely lasts for 15 minutes." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"In this her latest adventure Lara arrives at a mostly unexplored pyramid to map it out and find a secret room at the top only to find that someone has already gotten here ahead of her. She'll need to fight off an army of ninjas avoid a few boulder and spike traps and work around the pyramid natural inhabitants - mummies and scorpions - to make her way to the secret room where she will find the treasure. She needs to search carefully through this well decorated and nicely lit tomb for several hands as well as three very well done secret areas only gaining access to the third secret if she finds the second one. There is often more than one path to choose from and at one point choosing the right path will get her the crossbow to go along with the many pickups of ammo around the area. After twenty minutes Lara will have what she is after and can go home to prepare for her next adventure hopefully it will be as fun as this one." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"For a first this is a great level. The readme is complete there is even a story about Lara. The level starts with a slide in huge cave. You enter a building and then it gets confusing but further down the line it all makes sense. Look everywhere and try everything. Not so much puzzles but some nice detours to explore. Enemies mostly ninjas some mummies and scorpions. Although you have the fire power to get rid of the mummies it is not necessary and as the readme suggested save your ammo for the next level. Main goal is to get the Hand of Orion and Sirus and you end up with half an eye of Horus. It was over too soon. Looking forwards to the next level." - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a short but quite fun level that's worth playing if you've got fifteen minutes to spare. The texturing is nice and the lighting too. There seems to be various paths with which you can get to the places you need to go to and I got very lost but managed to find my way to the end anyway." - Magnus (21-Jun-2002)
"Not a bad first try. On the whole this is a well-designed level with several options available for the player as regards the order in which the various rooms are explored. I was puzzled as to why one of the stars was attainable only by completing a fairly tricky series of slides and jumps whereas the other is just lying on the ground in the middle of an ordinary room. Some of the doors were incorrectly placed and one of the pools of water appeared to be impossible to access but as no-one else has experienced this it's possible that it was in fact a secret area whose entrance I missed somehow. The camera flyby was a little furious and the back story in the Read-Me was so involving that I was expecting a much larger level. Unfortunately I didn't get it; but a good first try nonetheless." - Orbit Dream (21-Jun-2002)
"Another easy 20 minute adventure of the tutorial persuasion. Yes you are stuck for good if you slide down that slope before you jump into the pool but the experienced Custom Level raider always takes the path that is retraceable. What I found a bit strange is that when you come upon the second hand you obviously are supposed to get it by way of complicated slides jumps and grabs when it is quite easy to just drop down from the ledge above. I liked the secrets in fact getting the secrets took up most of the time in this level. The revolver was pretty useless but maybe it will come in handy in the sequel. The setting is solid and the tasks although neither demanding nor original vary slightly from the norm so I think it will be interesting to see what Jennifer comes up with in her second level." - Dimpfelmoser (21-Jun-2002)
