Reviewer's comments
"By all accounts this feels and looks like a test level. A lot of textures and objects from different sets mixed together without rhyme or reason, with all sorts of objects randomly scattered about. Nothing else to say. 5 minutes. 01/23" - Treeble (08-Jan-2023)
"Cynthia’s Cynthia is a level made by Cynthia, whose name is Cynthia. If you have doubts about levels whose title incorporates their builder’s name (as well you should), this goes double for those whose title is nothing but their builder’s name.
I’ll make this short: it’s Slaska’s Satan Temple, but with triggers. Does that make it any better? In a technical sense, yes, I guess. But it’s too random to be funny, and not random enough to be truly baffling. An eminently skippable oddity." - Mulf (18-Jun-2021)
"I really wonder what goes through a builder's mind when creating something like this? Lara in a Playboy bunny outfit? Seriously? Game play is non existent, objects random and incomplete, death traps everywhere and areas that once you enter, there is no way to get out. Pointless." - Torry (22-Nov-2019)
"What all of the other reviewers has said is true, but I am inclined to agree particularly with DJ Full: this level is certainly worth giggle for the sheer absurdity. I attempted to push around the statues of Seth to see if perhaps there were some brilliance underlying the missing textures, absent lighting, random enemies, levitating upside-down spikes, or the silent boulder that rotates away into nothing behind some crates . . . but sadly it appears there was no meaning after all. I got the giggles in the first room and at the end when Lara unexpectedly jumps into an unmarked water room, and for that alone, I'm glad to have played this. It looks as if the builder has been inactive for over a decade, but I was glad to see that she improved rapidly over the year she was creating levels. Do I recommend playing it? Yes! I hope you laugh like I did." - Cbl (13-Nov-2019)
"Mmm, decisions, decisions. Which category shall I give a point to? I'll give 1 point to the second category because the enemies were nicely designed (probably the only aspect that is) and the misplaced objects in the water room near the end amused me slightly. Everything else is a badly designed mess, looks-wise and gameplay- wise. Save yourself the trouble and leave it well alone. That outfit has to go too!" - Ryan (18-Nov-2016)
"I just have that one because the camera works (you can actually see Lara what it quite a surprise) and because there is light on the map... Good job on that. And this was one of the most random level i can ever imagine and... well i just have way to many questions on this one.. Not recommended unless you want to bet someone that you only make dinner if they can finish this.. Nothing really else to say" - Leeth (21-Nov-2015)
"A complete mess full of random things with no sense, random missing textures, random traps, random enemies that won't follow you, random key holes with no purpose what so ever. Basically the objective of this level is to go from start to finish, without worrying to pick any items or killing any enemies. Nice outfit though." - Zhyttya (21-Nov-2015)
"The first room is actually half-decently textured, but the level goes downhill from there on, having numerous part that arise the feel that the builder put the rooms together in a very random mood, without any sense at all, may it be bad texture and object placement, no gameplay at all except running through the corridors and making a very easy jump sequence (that is spoilt by some pillars not being accessible due to door collision). So all in all a 3 minute level that can be ignored without feeling guilty." - manarch2 (15-Jun-2013)
"Comprising of textures from various levels of "The Lost Artifact", enemies and objects from India, Cambodia and Egypt, unpredictable death zones, misplaced traps, misdireted spikes, wafer-thin walls, useless puzle holes, pushables and items, pits with no exit, a rope and a ledge one can't grab, an anti-gravity waterfall, a vertical portal to water room, and, finally, an underwater door opening without reason, "Cynthia" is the most hilarious level I've ever played. SUMMARY: Why there is no category for ridiculosity? The game is total mind twist. It's obligatory for absurd fans, who love to go vertigo. I'm sure all classic raiders should stay away from this piece of work, but this level is certainly NOT A CRAP like it seems to be when you look at the ratings. VERY UNDERRATED. VERY UNIQUE. IMO recommended." - DJ Full (21-Sep-2010)
"What wants the levelbuilder to say us with this "work"? She is able to build several rooms without sense and purpose? She can place some figures and objects in the level, which are completely without importance? That the players should ignore placing untextured places? That a story completely makes no difference? I have no notion, what she wants to say us now with this level. I know only one: It is absolutely superfluous to play this level. Only already the outfit of Lara is just awful and crude. This level is real only for players, who simply wants to play all levels." - Scottie (20-Apr-2009)
"Well there really isnt anything to do. I hope my first level wont be rated this low. :(" - herothing (11-Apr-2009)
"Please move on. Nothing to see here." - Orbit Dream (10-Nov-2008)
"Perhaps Cynthia should have kept this one to herself. It was just awful seeing Lara in a dreadful Playboy bunny costume. There was so much wrong here that I felt bad for Cynthia. There is not much to do but kill a few things and avoid a few traps, then jump through a water wall and I guess the level ends. Not a great first effort, I am afraid." - Shandroid (29-Oct-2008)
"How to rate the very beginnings of learning the Le? It's another one of those joke levels, (this one not quite a level) smacking of Amanda Lapore and cohorts. Best played, perhaps, at the Playboy mansion....accent on 'boy'. No redeeming features other than seeing what could have been something, turn into nothing. Woulda, coulda, shoulda done a whole lot better....a shame, really. Two minute download, two minute playtime, I'll go with a two for atmosphere." - Bene (22-Sep-2008)
"With risking to sound like a broken record - if you want to deliver a decent level, the best thing you can do for yourself is give the manual/tutorial level a chance. Admittedly my first efforts in the room editor didn't look much better than this, when I first tried it before working through the manual, and it's actually complicated enough to deliver a memorable level when you know all of that, so why give yourself such a bad start? If you ignore all the texture and architecture problems, and even the object mess - there are still unmarked traps and fire tiles, no real gameplay but shooting the eclectic enemy mix and jumping over the odd blade trap or 2 and in the end neither of this amounts to very much." - eTux (23-Aug-2008)
"Oh dear, that'll teach me to wax lyrical about the high standard of debut levels coming out recently and how I expect Cain will be along shortly to show us what it's all about etc. etc. etc. Well, compared to this offering Cain's levels are little masterpieces. It's just an incoherent mess and best avoided like the plague." - Jay (22-Aug-2008)
"I thought that there were no more bunnies working in Playboy clubs. Oh well, whatever tickles your fancy, but for Lara raiding in this costume is plainly ridiculous. In the readme there is a name I recognize, hmmmmm, same stuff as Amanda Lepore and his friends." - Gerty (21-Aug-2008)
"This level is either unfinished or was just an experiment ground for the author, for many things do not make sense. There is no use for the piece of cartouche you can collect , or for some doors or the cartouche receptacles. There is also some construction problems , the"see through" textures should not be used when they are not applied between existing rooms. I am afraid there is almost nothing to do in the level except for the players who want to kill some of the enemies." - eRIC (21-Aug-2008)
"Well, you start in a badly textured area having to shoot at something and then there is a boulder sinking into the ground, you jump along platforms and enter a water room connected next to a normal one. Apparently this is the end. It lasts around 2 mins and has illogical gameplay and confusing placement of objects. This is a poor effort and I do not recommend it unless you want to build up your review count." - Cory (20-Aug-2008)
"I think that this level isn't made with care and it lacks many things like gameplay. All you have to do is to run in few rooms, shoot couple of enemies and finally jump into a water room where's not even a finish trigger but the game probably ends there. Objects aren't chosen well and they are placed in weird positions like teet spikes that float in the air. Rooms also look terribly boxy including careless texturing and not lighting at all. Unfortunately this level wasn't good stuff and plenty of improvements are needed to create better levels." - Samu (20-Aug-2008)
"Well, according to the readme the author got talked into building a level. I guess next time when you get talked into something, please do make up your mind about what the task at hand might entail. This level, if you want to call it that, is simply a quickly thrown together collection of objects and enemies, set into 4-5 rooms and apparently the jump into the 'water wall' near that golden skull is meant to be the ending. In short: not actually playable, so don't waste your time unless you want to enhance or complete your review collection." - MichaelP (19-Aug-2008)
