Reviewer's comments
"I don't really want to burn out all of these quickies so fast as I still have about 30+ releases from 2005 which are likely to take me a week each, but here I am, right after wrapping up #1865 Cynthia. Essentially, it's the same thing, except here you get a somewhat proper finish trigger. 5 minutes. 01/23" - Treeble (08-Jan-2023)
"Still an useless level in which you are greeted by a nice tune and what is supposed to be Monaco? Is Monaco full of stretched textures, a sudden cave and some skeletons? Never been there, perhaps it is very realistic. Wolfy Regards" - Wolf7 (23-Aug-2020)
"Two minutes of aimlessly wandering about for no rhyme nor reason. Terrible." - Torry (30-Oct-2019)
"Fans of this builder’s debut furrowed their brows at the sight of their sophomore effort, regarding them as coming dangerously close to being embraced by the mainstream, what with the inclusion of enemies to battle, and even a genre-conform finish trigger. They needn’t have worried: they should have chosen to view these seemingly player-friendly elements as mere ironic quotations, as they are entirely optional and irrelevant, thus subverting the very concept of levelediting with a flick of the wrist. However, the surest sign that the builder was well on the way towards their magnum opus is the inclusion of an audio loop which is arguably even more stupid than the one used in Destroy City. Combine this with the choice of an even more misleading title than either its predecessor or its successor (a fact picked up on by contemporaries, but largely ignored these days), and what you have on your hands is a prime example of…oh, I can’t stand it anymore." - Mulf (17-Oct-2019)
"The music seriously made me giggle and was probably the high point of an otherwise substandard level. Misplaced save and load objects, nice lighting and dull gameplay. A joke, maybe?" - Ryan (04-Apr-2017)
"Well the moment the music starts and when the mobs spawn all at the same time was fun... And that's all! There are no puzzles, the only puzzle is in your head when you try to figure out how to leave the pool or how to use the keys.. Well.. there is no answer.. Still, was fun! Cant deny that.. Highly recommend if you want to "troll" someone" - Leeth (02-Sep-2015)
"It was...FUN! I'm not kidding. The level has nothing objective, just strait forward, killing some enemies, picking up some objects, and then you finish. But the music...the music made the level so much enjoyable. Honestly i recommend it if you want to laugh a little bit. This level is so troll! Love it!" - Zhyttya (02-Sep-2015)
"Just another atrociously-made and overall pointless test level from the builder. So don't even bother with this one." - Ceamonks890 (18-Jul-2015)
"Despite the fact that nothing happened when I picked up the Compass (an object which supposedly activated the End of Level Trigger),I seem to have found a smidgen more to enjoy than my fellow reviewers (and heaven forbid that I would ever play a lower-rated level,as Cory suggests, simply as an opportunity for criticism!).The music was pleasantly funky;the lighting in the third area was colourful;and the enemies were entertainingly irrelevant.Nonetheless, everything else was absolutely abysmal;and this remains securely at the bottom of the custom level pile - so actually,Cory had a valid a point after all." - Orbit Dream (29-Apr-2013)
"Streched textures, (almost) no gameplay and some crocs not necessarily to kill - that is the level. I don't think anyone should be so foolish as me and play this level again. It's a waste of time, nothing else. Only recommended for beginner players who search for a easy level to see the very basics of Tomb Raider. And, if I think about it, not even for these." - manarch2 (13-Feb-2011)
"Interesting title, but that's about it. Wallpaper, 3 large boxy rooms, a pool one can't get out of, weird lighting, no puzzles, a couple of useless pickups, a couple of pigs, crocs and skeletons, a finish trigger and the most annoying background music I have ever heard in a level." - Blue43 (18-Oct-2010)
"Slaska definitely likes weird statuary. Here we can find the same Lara objects we could find in Satan Temple, but I still like them. I think textures are less stretched than they were in the previous game of her, but it doesn't change the fact they still are stretched. The author didn't bother to apply gameplay, and a key we can pick up does not match the slot we can find. The rest is silence. SUMMARY: Recommended for fans of absurd stuff. All other players won't lose anything if they skip playing this game." - DJ Full (21-Sep-2010)
"After playing this level I still wonder. There are so many nice hobbies to share. Why must it be the level editor? Experiments with the LE are ok, but should never be released. 1 point for the audio file." - Jerry (24-Aug-2009)
"This level is a veeeery bad one.The whole level is nonsense. We pick up the items for nothing, you do not need to kill the enemies, there's no any challenge and puzzles in the level.1 minute for nothing." - rtrger (20-Jul-2009)
"I haven't been very active here in a while, so I thought I'd make a small comeback by knocking this one off the wishlist. I didn't really have the time to feel guilty for not doing something more useful, because the level only lasted 54 seconds. I wanted to give it a 1 for gameplay because it did consist of more than one room, but there was absolutely nothing to do in any of them(other than shooting a few barriers). The enemies(some crocs, wild boars and a skeleton) were easily dodged and the generous amounts of pickups were useless at best, thus the 0 in that category. I gave it a 1 for the funky soundtrack, but even that became a bit much in the long run. The five rooms are cavernous and other than the redundant enemies and pickups they're filled with nothing but stretched textures, poor lighting and a lack of atmosphere. I was almost relieved when Lara all of a sudden caught fire in the last room after running across a seemingly innocent floor tile. How thoughtful of the builder to put us out of our misery so soon." - Selene (30-Mar-2009)
"When I compiled the level and I saw that there were only five rooms I thought: "It can't be good". And it was so. This is an example of all you musn't do when building a custom level: square rooms, stretched textures, no puzzles, inappropriate background music,... Even the few enemies you can shoot, you can avoid them easily. A waste of time." - Jose (23-Jan-2009)
"I'm sorry to say but Lara is NOT in Monaco, she is in 5 ugly boxy rooms with a grove of palm trees. It'll take you approximately 58 seconds to finish this if you ignore the redundant enemies and superfluous pickups. Don't jump in the water, it's a dead end and you won't be able to get back out. Another Life-sentencer: ought never to be released." - EssGee (15-Dec-2008)
"This had three more room in this level than the first one Slaska made. Don't think that there is more to it, apart from running around and by accident stepping on a tile that burned Lara to a crisp. The finishing trigger is there as well; it is near the compass, if you want to pick that item up. Still stretched textures, I think that Slaska hasn't read that part in the manual about segmenting the walls. Oh well... another notch on my belt. Very irritating was the endless loop of the music, so be warned." - Gerty (02-Dec-2008)
"Not quite the Monaco I remember. A small adventure with little to do and the only reason to not run through and finish it within mere seconds is if you would like to test your battle skills versus a few crocodiles and boars while avoiding two skeletons. One for the review count." - MichaelP (24-Nov-2008)
"This reminds me of my first levels that I made with TRLE a few years ago....Big monoton rooms with stretched textures and enemies to kill. There was no real gameplay and the lighnings were also really bad...didnt looked like Monaaco at all..." - MpGrill (24-Nov-2008)
"Monaco eh? Hmmmm, certainly has changed since I last saw it then. If you played Slaska's first level (and I have to ask why?) then you will know exactly what to expect from this one. You have been warned." - Jay (24-Nov-2008)
"Well, I've never seen Monaco but for some reason I doubt this is it. I really dislike builders who put things in their level that are not needed e.g. every item in this level. A random finish trigger also doesn't make a good impression. I wouldn't reccommend this level unless you are someone that plays a level that they know is bad so they can critisise the builder - like me(or my dad)." - Cory (24-Nov-2008)
"5 rooms with the Coastal atmosphere and stretched textures from a TR3gold level, with nothing to do , except picking up a few items you don't need and perhaps deal with some of the enemies. What else ? Ah, there is a pool of which you can not escape, and the finish trigger is at the Memcard_save_inv_item , while the Memcard_load_inv_item is a deadly trap. Shall you tell the difference between the two objects in game ? :]" - eRIC (24-Nov-2008)
