Reviewer's comments
"The 3rd and final level of this Incan adventure, at 12 minutes it is quite short but fun with a dynamic gameplay , traps , jumps , a couple of short earthquakes, and enemies. You can begin with the weapons brought from Within the Sanctuary, it was fun to blow out the dogs, harpies , ninjas and crocs with explosive ammos. Short duration and a half convincing setting like in the previous level and lighting has not been worked on a lot, but recommanded for it's a fun level without being hard." - eRIC (08-Sep-2019)
"This is a short but sweet sequel to Within the Sanctuary. It's quite enjoyable but much simpler, although it contains a few surprise elements like the shock disappearance of the rock cavern and the brilliant slide down accompanied by boulders (if you're lucky you'll nab a secret in the process). Possibly more effective if played as a unit (I played them separately)." - Ryan (02-Oct-2017)
"This has definitely withstood the ravages of time; so many of these early levels fail to please these days, but this remains a well made and entertaining level. There are no puzzles or timed runs, but the enemies are well used and some of the traps and jumps are great fun. If you do elect to play this, don't neglect the second part, as you can play them as a continuous game." - Jay (04-Aug-2016)
"Lineal and short level with easy puzzles and a fast gameplay. Nice to play, good environments and some touches to create a good atmosphere. If you find the (not difficult) secrets you'll dispose of enough guns and ammo to avoid using the pistols. Well balanced enemies, I only missed some flares to light the dark areas. Lights and textures are well worked. Not a great level but well builded and funny enough to take a good time playing. Recommended." - Jose (13-Jan-2016)
"Justin just happened to release this level on my 55th birthday, which seems a very long time ago. Indeed, this was at the Dawn Age of the level editor, making me feel more like a dinosaur than I should, and even through this offering is short (20 minutes) and relatively unremarkable, it shows the promise that Justin would demonstrate in his later releases. Anya Marie McDonald and I, in writing the walkthrough as a collaborative effort, managed to miss two of the three secrets (the first of which you can get before taking a single step forward), but Akci has obligingly provided the necessary information. This plays like a demo, but it has its moments. Flares are limited but not really needed. You get ample firepower to handle the enemies along the way (bats, dogs, ninjas, crocs and harpies). Primarily of historical interest." - Phil (27-Apr-2015)
"Here is a level which left me uninterested, not really difficult but enough trapping for a small increase of adrenalin. Research limits itself to find doors but behind these doors, there are surprises! Decoration is made well and they go for a walk in places with pleasure. Great work." - Daffy (09-Aug-2009)
"After the beauty of Within the Sanctuary, this level was a bit disappointing. The two big lava rooms, one with floating island in the middle, and the big slide are nice, but that is all about it. The atmosphere is fair enough, the difficulty is just above easy. But despite of all that, it is an enjoyable level. Beginners would love it. Found 3 secrets." - Akcy (13-Jun-2005)
"That was short ten minutes with the Amulet at hand. Right about when the level started in a dark cave and after killing dogs ninjas and some harpies Lara crossed a bridge to get the Amulet. The setting changed with a fountain with a flyby and the loading screen kicked in. Maybe this is just the beginning and the following levels will continue where this left off. Off to look then." - Kristina (29-Aug-2003)
"A short level but a lot of baddies. Nice earthquake atmospheres. The textures were not bad for a cave-like level. Hint: When you enter a room with two crocodiles and a door in front of you the lever's on the right hand side." - Cory (23-Jun-2003)
"Short but splendid level. I played this (once again) after a long Night Shift and was (if you'll pardon the expression) quite knackered; which is why it took me forever to find the wall switch in the rock cavern. That is my excuse and I'm sticking to it. (Although how I missed it but still managed to find the tricky secret is anyone's guess). As soon as I've had a bit of sleep I'm going to play this little adventure again because I thought it was a blast. Disappearing floor; unexpected boulder slide; exciting plummets into small pools of water; dog attacks; great scenery. Wow! So much crammed into so short a space of time." - Orbit Dream (11-Jun-2003)
"This level is an old one yet I like it. Justin already had good ideas at those days so this is not by chance that I love his levels. Unfortunately I couldn't get the Grenade Gun so I found only 2 secrets although I don't know exactly how much secrets are there in the level. It's important to find the crowbar in the beginning of the level and you won't get jammed later. It's true you have to notice the lever on the right-hand wall next to the pool with crocs. The enemies are some bats dogs harpies and ninjas. There are no added sounds but the textures are great. This level is a good fun and is not particularly difficult to go through it. By the end I collected the Amulet of Horus the Uzi the Shotgun and the Revolver too." - Obig (18-May-2003)
"I had some thrilling moments like the dog attack and the floor falling. This for sure was my lucky day as I ended on top of a pillar. Not so sure about the earthquake effect though the one near the lava but once through the door it stopped I went back as I felt I had to do something else there and lo and behold found my third secret there. Like this one the other ones are nicely hidden. 31-12-2002" - Gerty (05-Jan-2003)
"Like everyone else I'll complain about this being too short but only because I love this author's work so much. It starts out near the jeep where the last level left off and your objective is to escape the deep cave collecting the Amulet along the way. It only took me eleven minutes to get through but I still had a great time because of the cool effects - the disappearing floor and boulders over the high lava cave the unexpected slide down the slope with boulders on either side the spike traps the great lava cave at the end with a floating island in the center and the earthquake as you enter the bottom of the cave and jump over the lava. Good mix of enemies again and I found two secrets by the end." - RaiderGirl (03-Jan-2003)
"Atmosphere wise I reckon this is superior to it's predecessor but with 40 rooms it is a rather small level and you're through it in no time (if you find the cleverly hidden jump switch that is). There is one spectacular moment when the floor breaks away while the boulders are dropping down around you and the flyby at the end is well done but apart from that there is not much do here. Open a few doors with the crowbar kill dogs and crocodiles and push a handful of levers that's it basically. Oh and you can shimmy to the revolver but you don't really need it." - Dimpfelmoser (24-Nov-2002)
"After just playing 'Within the Sanctuary' I was expecting some more of the same. I was not disappointed except that this was only 15 minutes long and so much more could have been done. The same nicely done atmosphere and another great disappearing floor scene but I expected much more after playing the author's previous work." - Momster (05-Oct-2002)
"The continuation of 'Within the Sanctuary' is relatively shortly. I recommend to play both parts together. The puzzles are simpler than in the last level. Except for pressing switches there is not a lot to do. The atmosphere has just remained textures lighting and sound fit well. Again there were dogs baddies and crocodiles as opponents also the harpies were not absent. However due to the enormous amount of ammunition they were no problem. As there were also no jump combinations this level is a wonderful entrance for beginners." - Xxenofex (21-Aug-2002)
"This is an at times eerily atmospheric level set nicely inside a lava filled cave. With a diverse enemy range the most frightening being the initial dog attack a wonderfully unexpected disappearing floor and falling ball trap and some nice textures this was a not so difficult fun level but I do have a grievance with it the seemingly constant earthquake effect that persisted through the whole latter half which just drove me insane and took away a little from my enjoyment factor. By the looks of it this is just one part of a larger game and so I can forgive it somewhat on its short 20 minute duration on that basis but if playing this as a lone level then some players are going to find it a little lacking." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"Being the sequel to 'Within the Sanctuary' this level is very short and took me only about 15 minutes to complete. It is also very linear and you will hardly ever stop to consider your next move. The initial dog battle and the disappearing floor is nice as is the lava deep down below. And the floating island near the end is a great visual moment. Again the classic end with a flyby." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"The level is too short and easy to finish." - Boris (21-Jun-2002)
"Well, knowing a lot of this author's work, when I played this I realized it was among the first round of levels of the author. He has improved A LOT his skills with the editor, so I would suggest you looking for his newer levels. As for this level, it doesn't hold anything special. A quick search to the Amulet of Horus - 15 minutes and you are done. I liked the lava room, but these earthquakes don't fit the level. I think they were included just to give me headaches... oh well..." - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"A nice little level not too difficult and quite linear until the end. Not much new stuff in terms of textures and no extraordinary traps. My net gaming time was 25 minutes and I found 2 secrets." - Qwendo (21-Jun-2002)
"This is quite a short level but the rooms are nicely designed. I liked the dog attack at the beginning - something different for once - and the initial room falling into the lava was also nice. However from there it all got rather simple. No idea how you get the grenade launcher in the spike room perhaps it's a red herring or maybe the spikes switch off later on (but there's no indication that that's what happens). The final big room is nice looking but for such a large room there's not much to do. Overall it's ok but only took me about half an hour to do." - David (21-Jun-2002)
"This wasn't a bad level at least I have very little to complain about. My only complaint was that it was short. As far as levels go this one doesn't do a heck of a lot to distinguish it from other levels. It seems to me that it is very uninspired. If it's a first level then it's a great first if not then it just doesn't have enough 'oomph' to stick in your memory." - Scott (21-Jun-2002)
