Reviewer's comments
"What can I say? A test level that really not just unfinished, but looks like it wasn-" - Charles Kane (06-Feb-2021)
"A few scrappy rooms with nothing to do in them that somehow made it onto the TR5 CD. Interestingly, the flames jump when Lara jumps. Soundless; pointless." - Mulf (20-Oct-2019)
"What a meaningful level. It's kinda hilarious, but I won't laugh because it's a test level, I would if it wasn't. Also, 1 in gameplay for the ropes and the fire!! Wolfy Regards." - Wolf7 (06-Mar-2019)
"You start in a big, almost empty room. There are ropes hanging from the ceiling so you can swing around, but there's nothing to it. There are two swimming pools, also empty, some different textures on the ground, that do nothing but irritate the player, because nothing happens when you step on them. You can pick up an almost invisible chloroform soaked cloth in the first, big room, but with no use. Running through the corridor to the next room makes three types of fire appear on the ground. The last room has a doorway, that you can not pass. There is no finish trigger. Strange to say all ingame sounds are missing." - Nuri (09-May-2018)
"Crikey, that was very short, not even two minutes. There is really nothing to do here short of running through a couple of hallways. There were no ropes in my version, but to be honest it wouldn't have made much difference." - Ryan (01-Apr-2018)
"Well, really unfinished this level. I think only four or five rooms (pools included) where you only explore the first one to find a handkerchief and uselessly look for a finish trigger in the next ones. Not worth to download." - Jose (02-Jan-2018)
"I found that this level has no sound, only the one of the atmosphere. There are 2 pools with nothing in them. Some noticeable triggers that activate useless ropes and fire. And a large room that looks like the level exit but it's not. Nothing to do here." - alan (19-Nov-2016)
"Built upon an orphan file in the TRC disk, this actually comes from Core Design's offices. However, don't get too excited as it's pretty much a huge room of nothing. Nice textures though. This is a test level so not really much to see or do here otherwise, pretty much only for the completionists. 09/14" - Treeble (26-Sep-2014)
"Serving as a test level for Core Design team members during development of TR Chronicles, this release(which I assume was ripped from the main TR5 game disk), offers a rather bland quick romp as you dive into the two pools and swing off a few triggered ropes from TR4, in-between some exploration of a few monotonously-textured rooms and reaching the end of the level, where we see the Egyptian mountain horizon from TR4 off in the distance(with no in-game sound effects and music from the VCI levels playing in the background). Overall, only really worth looking at once out of sheer curiosity and nothing more." - Ceamonks890 (11-Jul-2014)
"What a bad level. Two minutes of running around a bit, jumping in a pool, finding no exit trigger and pressing Alt+F4. That was all for this shockingly bad level." - manarch2 (29-Nov-2010)
"One of the worst levels available to play. Missing sounds, stretched, boring textures, no enemies... We can't even make use of the item we pick up. We can't find anything in the pools. We can swing a lot of ropes, but they don't take us anywhere. We can sprint to the end of the level to get out of here as fast as possible, but there's no exit, so we end the game staring at nothing. SUMMARY: Everything in this level is useless. And the whole project is hopeless. You can play it only if one of these things you wanna do before you die is to play all the levels on trle.net." - DJ Full (19-Sep-2010)
"It's an original test level. Developers used this level to try some moves. Maybe they had problem with the flame triggers. Value level. Doesn't include TR5. Do you remember? TR4 has test levels too." - Obig (25-May-2010)
"Found a rag with chloroform on it. There were fires in the corridor. Walls, two pools, no sound effects for footsteps or anything. I can't see that this level is testing anything of note." - dmdibl (27-Dec-2009)
"The word "pointless" springs to mind. A few rooms with nothing to do other than triggering the appearance of a line of ropes, taking a dip in two pools with nothing in them other than water and picking up a cloth soaked with chloroform. It's great that a builder wants to try out new textures and ways of doing things, but why release it to the public?" - Selene (25-Oct-2009)
"Wondering why this Test room is in the listing as there is nothing to do in here , and no finish trigger." - eRIC (24-Oct-2009)
"Erm...a pointless level. Triggering ropes and fires, a pickup, and pools. That's all." - rtrger (08-Oct-2009)
"To give a little backstory for those lazy enough to skip the readme part - this is an original unfinished Core level, probably used by the designers to test some things they were having trouble with in the making of the game. While its status as a released custom level compliments the author's skills for making it available for everyone to see and is another showcase of human psychology - how the hidden things make us the most curious - but it also shows why the level never made it to be part of the game. There's not much to do here, and I suppose if you do play it - do try the alternative scripts with the savegame to check out the funky crossbow that doesn't function." - eTux (22-Sep-2009)
"Nothing to see here." - Orbit Dream (22-Sep-2009)
"Not so much unfinished as never started really. There's absolutely nothing to do, but at least you can do it very quickly." - Jay (21-Sep-2009)
"Err well, other than looking at a nice wall texture and running around a few fairly empty rooms there seems to be literally nothing to see or do here." - MichaelP (20-Sep-2009)
