Reviewer's comments
"A remake of The Tomb of Qualopec level from TR1, this one completely retextured but keeping almost the same gameplay from the original one. The battles with the Sheeva statues were fun, although I don't know if they can still be called "Sheevas" when they have a bird head and only two swords! But anyway, it was fun but nothing too memorable." - alan (04-Sep-2020)
"Another effort by Turbo from the early days of level building and this one is based around the Tomb of Qualopec from Tomb Raider 1. Many enemies abound but they do little to injure Lara if she simply steps away from their circular course of attack. Pretty simple but showcased what could be done in those early days and again, if not for these early attempts we would not have the magnificent levels we enjoy today." - Torry (06-Oct-2019)
"Here is another return2 remake from legendary programmer Turbo Pascal. The basic design comes straight from Tomb of Qualopec, but it serves mostly as a way to showcase a bunch of new enemies made by combining different elements. Much like Return to Palace Midas, the gameplay is streamlined and is pretty barebones. I did enjoy the enemies, in particular Larson & Pierre waiting at the throne room hoping to ambush Lara, but I can't say the same mix and match approach worked for the textures... 15 minutes. 09/19" - Treeble (29-Sep-2019)
"A short remake of the Tomb of Qualopec from Tomb Raider 1. Took me about 20 minutes or less. Apart from the textures that have been changed completely, there are also changes regarding to level procedure. And we encounter some pretty funnily designed enemies, that are a mix of enemies from diverse Tomb Raider games. But I have to admit, that this level didn't impress me much. There wasn't much puzzling and there was less decoration in this than in the original." - Nuri (04-Jun-2019)
"A bit of an odd level, this one. Take the original Tomb of Qualopec format, give it a lick of paint, add some new textures and some familiar enemies and you have the basic idea of what this level is all about. Probably only worth looking at for those enemies and an easy fight with Larson and Pierre." - Ryan (07-Aug-2016)
"What a strange little level. This is I think worth looking at only for the unusual enemies, which I can't recall having seen before or since. They look fierce but they're actually really easy to kill. Apart from that, you do get to meet up with Larson and Pierre." - Jay (26-Jul-2016)
"It seems that the author only built this level to test the new enemies, 'cause the gameplay is poor, only pull some switches and find some keys. Excessive enemies in my opinion, and not extra guns to deal with them. At least there are some cameras showing the doors opening. Basically, an existing level, retextured and changing some triggers and enemies here and there. Not worth to play." - Jose (11-Jan-2016)
"If you've played TR1 fairly recently upon starting this one up, then this will look instantly familiar to you, as its merely Tomb of Qualopec(only with different textures, enemies and slightly different gameplay tasks to perform from the norm). Does that necessarily make it a must-play however? Hmm, probably not. But if you're interested in an alternative take on a well-trodden level map regardless, then by all means give it a shot." - Ceamonks890 (23-Sep-2014)
"A level close to Tomb of Qualopec one, with different enemies though, such as the big statues or the mortal mummies. I liked this remake as it was a little challenge because gameplay was something completely different than 1 to 1. Textures were OK too, but if you run up the ramp at the beginning you can spot a missing one. Atmosphere was mediocre, though." - manarch2 (03-Dec-2010)
"A Tomb of Qualopec makeover, and the only novelties here are essentially the enemies. Some are more weird like the mock-mummies, Xi'an warriors and the Falcon-headed statues, and some more familiar and down to earth like Larson and Pierre. Apart from the latter they don't necessarily pose a great challenge, since they won't follow Lara if she's even on a somewhat higher elevation and even when they get to her all they do is push her around, so the battles are more comical than challenging. It's an enjoyable variation, but is over too soon and the novelties are not that great to award it higher scores, but I'd recommend it anyway if you're in for something simple and fun." - eTux (06-Nov-2010)
"There are lot of enemies on this level. We have just the standard pistols, there aren't oother weapons and medipacks. But you don't need it. It's a short adventure. The goal is that we have to kill everyone, and pick up the four keys, than we have to pick up the stone at the end. Don't forget, it's almost a 10 years old level. Then it was great. But today worth it to play it too. :)" - Obig (30-May-2010)
"A bit of an oddity this one. Take the well known Tomb of Qualopec level layout, throw in a bunch of undead enemies roaming the place, plus a pretty cool bird rendition of the shiva and let the player chase through this weird place for a few keys, one of them kept by the initially living and then dead Pierre (or Larson). 10 minutes of quick fun." - MichaelP (14-May-2010)
"Lara shoots a lot of hapless zombies or mutants. They run in circles in their rooms, so if Lara stands in an entryway she can pick them off one by one. If they rush at Lara in a passageway, she can lure then to the end. When Lara runs in the opposite direction, the creatures continue to run against the end wall, so shooting them is easy. The texturing is sloppy: note the textures over the doors in the beginning hub room. About the only reason for the author to make this was to apply heavy shadows and darkness in many places as a test; other Turbo Pascal TR3 levels have uniform lighting. The physical layout of a few rooms will remind players of early TR1 "Tomb of Qualopec," which I guess is why this is classed as a remake." - dmdibl (26-Dec-2009)
"A solid, short level with rather a lot of shooting (although all the enemies are easily despatched);decent lighting and textures, and back-and-forth gameplay. Entertaining, but it wont keep you awake at night." - Orbit Dream (14-Oct-2009)
"The most impressive thing here is the new enemies, some of whom every tr player surely remembers from TR1 (Larson and Pierre), some others reminded me to the monks from TR2 (but they look different), and some others (mummies) are new. Level design too reminds to TR1, but rooms are textured differently. Gameplay-wise it's only running around a bit, looking for some switches and keys, so I think this level was built in the first place in order to introduce those new enemies which was great regarding the time the level was built." - Jerry (14-Sep-2009)
