Reviewer's comments
"Labyrinths are bane for most players, and this level made it worse by the fact that there's no goal, no objects, nothing much in this 'level'.
At least the 'level' is short, and there's a walkthrough if you want to reach the 'end' hole of this labyrinth. Also, easy review to bump up our review counts." - Charles Kane (03-Oct-2023)
"One object (Lara), one room, two textures, and no trigger. Must have taken all of two minutes to put it all together. I had a look at it only because I wanted to spot the third texture that I thought must have been used somewhere, because in TRLE it’s not possible to use only two without messing up the visuals in the level file. But with the TR3 engine, apparently, it is. I came across one curiosity not mentioned by other reviewers, namely that at one specific point in the maze, a waterfall loop becomes audible—as if the builder wanted to keep the hope alive in the player that there was an outside. But there isn’t. God is well and truly dead." - Mulf (12-Oct-2019)
"No exit, no finish trigger, no point to this level. I found a hole that supposedly could have been an exit but after exploring the maze carefully I found myself back at the starting point with nothing to show for the effort." - Torry (06-Oct-2019)
"This might as well have been a test level instead of a proper one. What you get here is essentially one more of those trials we've seen countless times, just a flat and single room where gameplay is all about running around. It could be worse, I guess -- it could have been bigger and multilayered, like Extravaganza Level, or it could have hidden pushblocks randomly placed arund. Fortunately, that's not the case. 5 minutes. 09/19" - Treeble (29-Sep-2019)
"I found a hole, but no finish trigger. The builder wanted to see how much time we would waste looking for the nonexistent exit to this horrible little place. Should have been called claustrophobia!" - Chel (20-Oct-2018)
"I always wish for some distinctive spots in mazes so there is at least some little orientation for the player. But mazes like this one, where you have the same texture everywhere and you can just hope to find the exit randomly, are annoying. The maze wasn't even diversified at all. There's just a bunch of dead ends. The whole in the opposite corner of the maze seems to be an exit, but once again: No finish trigger! Don't make poor Lara be trapped in her worst nightmare!" - Nuri (23-Sep-2018)
"This one is better than the previous one I suppose , I used to like mazes in TR2 , but this one is meaningless and tiresome ." - Mehrbod (26-May-2018)
"Boy, I hate mazes!!! I get especially cross when they offer absoultely no visual indications or hints to your position or direction. Identical texturing sprawled over one room and military clad Lara desperately trying to get out. Somehow I managed to find some sort of escape hatch. There was, unfortunately, no handle. Lara might have just raided her last tomb;)" - PolishRaider (10-Mar-2018)
"This is only a small maze where you need to go around always to the left or always to the right with nothing to do except to drop at the end onto a hole in a corner. I think only two texture tiles were used here, one for the wall and another one for the floors and ceilings. Not worth to play." - Jose (03-Nov-2017)
"The builder could have done so much more with this level - there could have been enemies waiting to ambush you around the corner, some traps at the end of paths, etc. Instead, there is only a headache and a small hole as rewards for getting through this level. There are few things more boring than this." - Ejecta (08-Aug-2017)
"There is a maze, That is it, Why do i always get the bad levels in my featured level TRLE." - JoeTheCrazyGamer (25-Jul-2017)
"A labyrinth. Run to find the hole and it's the end." - alan (19-Apr-2017)
"You can't disagree with the title. It most certainly is a labyrinth and not a very entertaining one either. Nothing to do and no finish trigger so you can let Lara starve or exit the game." - Ryan (19-May-2016)
"If there's one thing that this level has managed to successfully cement for me(in regards to game design), it's a general hatred of mazes. And after recently playing the builder's latter 'Pure Training' release(for the purpose of reviewing), its good to know that he at least learned how to properly end a level, once it outlasted its welcome later on. Unfortunately, the same can't really be said towards this earlier attempt as all you essentially do here is run around a sleep-inducing maze aimlessly, before quickly deciding to toss it into the recycle bin(upon realizing there's nothing to actually do.) So overall, simply not worth recommending whatsoever." - Ceamonks890 (19-Sep-2014)
"Never-ending maze. I haven't found exit and I am not sure if there is one :) Textures as for labyrinth are okay as they look exactly the same and you don't know if you were here or not but level is boring after 2 minutes." - Casual Raider (10-Jul-2013)
"My rating seems to be too high for this level, but I really think lighting and textures are appriopriate for a labyrinth, so that's why I give 1 point for each of these subcategories, what results in total 2 points for "L&T" together. Also, I feel the urge to give 1 point for atmosphere, as I really felt like in a labyrinth. Sound of footsteps doesn't match the kind of ground, but I think that was the author's intention. SUMMARY: If you are one of the "finish trigger collectors", don't bother this game. I could recommend it to all of the sewer rats, which would probably enjoy playing it." - DJ Full (21-Sep-2010)
"If there is a maze, you could think the level has a gameplay. This hasn't. The maze has got no end. The textures are nothing special and all the same; there is no lightning and no enemies. The hole in the other corner seems to be the end. Maybe it's better than going on: I don't want to spend even more time on this level." - manarch2 (11-Jul-2010)
"We can run in a small labyrinth. Nothing challanges, nothing enemies. Nothing interesting on this level. :)" - Obig (25-May-2010)
"An enclosed labyrinth. One quickly gets suspicious. The only item in this maze is Lara. There is a lower square at the opposite end of the map from the beginning. A totally meaningless maze with no pickups and no exit." - dmdibl (15-May-2010)
"This labyrinth is great, seriously. But the level is about nothing. The hole was an epic discovery at the "end". Well, end is a bit pointless because there's no end trigger. 5 mins." - rtrger (05-Dec-2009)
"Found the hole. Nothing much more really to say about this one. Everything is technically fine apart from the lack of an end trigger. Stiggy" - TheStig (14-Nov-2009)
"Honestly, this is getting a bit old. Don't we have enough of these short and pointless levels with nothing but a bunch of empty rooms/a neverending maze, absolutely nothing to do and no end trigger to release you from further misery? After about 6 minutes of running around in multiple copies of the same room I dumped into a hole, so I guess that marks the end of it. I think boredom just found a new friend." - Selene (25-Oct-2009)
"One room, two textures and did probably not take much more time to build this than it will take you to run through the maze to reach the hole with no finish trigger. Not really worth a look..." - MichaelP (09-Oct-2009)
"I was going through the review wshlist when i saw this and i thought (seeing as though my pictures don't show) this should be interesting. I played the game for about 2 seconds to see nothing but a dark maze made from thye textures from Lara's home, please try a better game to get more of a graps of this level-maker. Grade = U" - herothing (02-Oct-2009)
"It's well named, this level. It's a maze and only a maze. Although quite solidly built, it's completely featureless (apart from one hole with nothing in it) and the wooden flooring sounds extremely damp as poor Lara pounds around endlessly (and fruitlessly) seeking an exit." - Jay (22-Sep-2009)
"Those of you enjoy mazes might get something out of this otherwise pointless excercise.I've certainly encountered worse labyrinths in custom levels,as this actually isn't all that big. There is no Finish Trigger, but you'll recognise the end when you get there." - Orbit Dream (20-Sep-2009)
"You might as well call this "Lara in a Labyrinth-shaped Box" because that's all it is. Find the hole where you can drop in and you've seen all there is to it. No finish trigger, nothing to do, no fun to be had here." - eTux (13-Sep-2009)
"Thanks to Treeble for confirming that there is no end trigger in this level, and nothing to do except finding a hole somewhere which can be considered as the ending of this aimless roaming inside this monotonous labyrinth with no lighting and no background audio loop." - eRIC (05-Sep-2009)
