Reviewer's comments
"Well, what can I say about this level? Way too short to be meaningful. 3 pickups, no secrets, bland textures. Even as a level that's made before TRLE or DXTRE3D, this is just bland." - Charles Kane (09-Apr-2021)
"Another early attempt which predates the official TRLE release. You actually get quite a bit out of this 10x10 room, as it's stated in the readme, but still hardly what you might call a level... 5 minutes. 09/19" - Treeble (06-Oct-2019)
"The textures weren't horribly stretched. Two pickups but no enemies. A hole Lara becomes stuck in. A finish trigger of a lever-less lever slot. Sorry John, but it wasn't any fun!" - Chel (19-Oct-2018)
"What's the point behind this author's releases! Test levels? Unfinished but released levels? Or just a joke? Anyways... all you do here is walk and climb around a little, pick up some stuff that you wont need anyway and let the level finish by stepping in front of a texture where a lever is supposed to be." - Nuri (23-Sep-2018)
"Not much further to add about this. You go around in a large circle, pick up a few items and hit the finish trigger. Nothing to do and I wonder what John was trying to achieve with this?" - Torry (01-Jun-2018)
"The worst thing about this game was that there were no enemies to kill , nor any traps to be aware of . The repetitive use of meaningless pits and holes in this level has made it a bit tiresome ." - Mehrbod (25-May-2018)
"Not much to say about that custom. Clearly, it lacks in all departments. It always makes me think about all those pointless item placements. There is a gun pickup, and yet are no enemies to kill; you grab a medipak only to finish a level few seconds later. There are also few spots when you can get stuck and must reload the game. Raid and send it back to the black hole whence it came;)" - PolishRaider (10-Mar-2018)
"Another poor try with the unofficial level editor. Climb some blocks, a couple of pickups (why? nothing to shoot) and advance a few meters to the finish trigger (well, at least this level has a finish trigger). Disappointing." - Jose (03-Nov-2017)
"A short debut level, there really isn't much to do here. You get a desert eagle which you never actually use about a minute before the level ends. the curved jump you have to do to get to the final ledge was quite a nice touch but other than that there isn't really a lot of good things to say about this level, partially because of the fact that there ISN'T really anything in the level at all." - Ejecta (08-Aug-2017)
"Short level with 3 useless pickups, though I like collecting things. There is no background sound, missing textures and pits where you get stuck. You just have to make your way to the finish trigger, at least there is one!" - alan (19-Apr-2017)
"Not much to tell but it is another notch on my belt." - Gerty (06-Sep-2016)
"Another very old test level. Nothing much worth mentioning except a couple of items and a climbing sequence. Not worth to play." - Ryan (19-May-2016)
"An incredibly short and ultimately pointless debut level that has you do nothing more than move from one side of the room to the other, with some optional pickups you can retrieve(but will never need to use whatsoever), due to a lack of any real opponents to use them on. With bland texturing, non-existent lighting, no objects and a generally flat atmosphere to add on to the basic host of problems demonstrated here, this is one release overall that is better off avoided altogether." - Ceamonks890 (16-Sep-2014)
"Textures are monotonous and some pits are traps from which u can't get away and yet not die. Pickups are useless. Level is short and boring." - Casual Raider (10-Jul-2013)
"Half of this game comprises of getting some ammo, so it can be skipped. Actually, picking any of three items placed ingame can be skipped, as there is no enemies and we don't need to take any advantage. If one does so, the other half lasts for less than three minutes. However, it can take more time - one is likely to fall in some pits with no possibility to get out. Still, we can feel like in the 4th level of the original TR3. These memories give some atmosphere. Everything is set in environment of average looks. Probably the author wanted to create something more, because there are some (inaccessible) rooms above the playable area. I wonder what is up there... SUMMARY: A little project. Recommended for Desert Eagle fans, but they won't have an opportunity to make use of this weapon anyway." - DJ Full (20-Jan-2011)
"Short and pretty senseless. At some points (pits) you are still alive but cannot get out of them. The curved jump was a little challenge but I did it after the second try. You can pick up some items but there are no enemies to use them. Seems unfinished." - manarch2 (30-Jul-2010)
"There's only so much you can do with one room, but this is brief even for that. I suppose the texturing could've been worse, though it's not very distinguishable as it is, and the curved jump at the end must've been a clever touch for that time. Other than that - nothing but a historical curiosity for the custom level world." - eTux (24-Jun-2010)
"Altogether there is one room, where we have to go top of the level. We get weapons, but there anent enemies, so useless. Be careful, don't fall into the pit, you can't climb out from there." - Obig (25-May-2010)
"I guess this shows the pitfalls of even the simplest level building. India textures. Lara can start by getting Desert Eagle ammo, but jumps to crawlspaces don't work because Lara won't grab an edge, and missing textures give a mirror effect. Then if Lara goes for the Desert Eagle, she can fall into and be trapped in shafts. No finish trigger." - dmdibl (15-May-2010)
"Short. It barely has anything to play. A 1 minute long climbing in a jungle. And that's all." - rtrger (21-Apr-2010)
"I have been feeling in a retro mood as of late. Short, and obviously an early experimentation, but it reminded me just how fast the old TR3 engine is, and how responsive the controls are as well. Stiggy" - TheStig (14-Nov-2009)
"Easily finished in less than 2 minutes and a plain and very straight run, climb, slide, jump with two pickups along the way. One of those early attempts that maybe should not have been released to the public." - MichaelP (09-Oct-2009)
"This is another not so golden oldie that is so short that it takes far longer to download than to play. A short climb and a short crawl with a few pickups to find. John's first level appears to have been his last; perhaps his heart wasn't really in it." - Jay (23-Sep-2009)
"This is quite a bad level in terms of most things. Nothing i sright about this game, the only half decent things were the textures. there was no gameplay, no puzzles or anything. Please play a better rated game and posibble that will give you some ideas." - herothing (10-Sep-2009)
"A first level that is found wanting. It was probably a first experimentation for the builder. You can reach the end trigger in 2 minutes , even less if you don't pick up the few goodies. There is no enemies , no background audio loop , no lighting , and no puzzles or traps. You have to climb inside a jungle textured structure, and if you fall into some hole you can't get back. Near the end there is a good jump with a curve to perform. Good sounds and rather good texturing although there is a couple of flickering textures as if two rooms are overlapping. Try to do it in less than one minute" - eRIC (05-Sep-2009)
"I can't believe the age of some of these Unofficial levels! This one dates from June 2000,which is incredible. Not that the same thing can be said of the level itself (except that it's incredibly short);as all you do is climb up a few steps and do a short crawl, until you reach the Finish Trigger. As with so many levels of advanced age,it is merely a curio." - Orbit Dream (05-Sep-2009)
