Reviewer's comments
"A short 5 minute or so Venice level. There isn't much to see or do here, sadly. The entire thing has a test level feel to it. Textures and design is pretty bad, but there was some basic effort put into it at least. Surprisingly I got stuck at one point as you cannot shimmy a ledge without pulling a random switch, so that was mildly annoying. Not recommended unless you're a completionist." - LuxQSD (12-May-2022)
"A short but fair Venice level. The level has a lot of potential, yet the lack of finish trigger at the final area is like the builder was suddenly asked to publish the level immediately. Not bad at all, just lacking enough time. P.S.: It's funny how this short level was still having higher rating than the lengthy abomination "Theft of the Dagger of Xian"." - Charles Kane (03-Apr-2021)
"Extremely short Tomb Raider 2 level of around three minutes with no finish trigger and massive texture fade outs with no point to the exercise as far as I could determine." - Torry (10-Oct-2019)
"Just kill a few dogs and mafia dudes and find a lever nothing else." - JoeTheCrazyGamer (25-Jun-2019)
"It's a short little shoot 'em up bang bang Venice level. There are several baddies, and no finish trigger. Takes under 5 minutes to complete. No secrets." - Chel (22-Oct-2018)
"There were no specific puzzles to rate , but the gameplay was not that bad . To be honest , it looked a bit unrealistic that a rat can bring shotgun shells with itself ! Does it have a pocket ? :) . Anyway , I enjoyed the atmosphere ... it was lower that normal rate . On the other hand , lighting and textures were fine tuned enough ... average . I wish there was at least an ending for this game ... Unfortunately not !" - Mehrbod (01-Jun-2018)
"The architecture is not bad, and there's a decent texturization too, but a very short level without a finish trigger where you only need to pull a switch and shoot some enemies involves a very poor gameplay. Another attemp with the unofficial level editor to see how it works, but nothing more." - Jose (03-Nov-2017)
"Absolutely nothing worth seeing here. There are a handful of enemies, a ledge you can only climb after pulling a lever for some odd reason, and no exit trigger. Not worth playing." - Ejecta (14-Aug-2017)
"Barely a level as it stands, with only just a couple of rooms and gameplay revolves around throwing a switch to open a door and crossing it to the other side, while shotting down six or so enemies. Still, the little there is here is carefully designed and textured, so there's that. 5 minutes. 04/17" - Treeble (29-Apr-2017)
"Short Venice level. Only killing goons, dogs and rats. A bit of swimming to pick up ammo, climbing crates, pulling a switch and running around trying to find the finish trigger but there is not one. I noticed the small medipack in the inventory was out of place. I don't know what happened there but it was kinda funny." - alan (21-Apr-2017)
"This is a shortest level that I have played. I liked Venices atmosphere and brightness. Textures OK. 2 min level." - vienna (19-Mar-2017)
"This was my first encounter with this author so I was quite sceptic when he called himself an artist, but this little bunch of casual Venetian houses is well lit, quite decently textured and makes architectonic sense indeed, so even in minimalistic form it acts properly as a teaser for the builder's future works. Zack was also honest about the game length and flaws included, and I just like self-aware people who show professionalism. SUMMARY: Casual foreshadowing of something I'm looking forward to play." - DJ Full (30-Jan-2016)
"A boring TR2 Venice level with no finish trigger. Nice to see those enemies though." - Ryan (09-Jan-2016)
"An unfinished level in venice with no finish trigger!!" - Nuri (01-Jul-2015)
"A very unfinished Venice level where you kill a good amount of enemies and pull a switch to open a door at some point. That's it. With no proper finish trigger or decorative objects of any kind, competent texturing, flat lighting and an overall non-existent atmosphere, this is one release that I simply cannot recommend playing through. So, don't even bother with it." - Ceamonks890 (19-Aug-2014)
"I will give the level this: it does look like a couple of rooms from an actual Venice level in TR2. Not much to any of the rooms, but it was a nice stroll. I loved the outdoor looks of the original Venice from TR2, and it had some of that, so it gets thumbs up there. Not much use for the extra armaments though. Worth looking at if you're exploring some of the older custom levels, as it shows how far they've come." - Xela (16-Jul-2013)
"Unfinished level with some nice touch-ups. Can't say much about it as it was too short but seems that it had potential." - Casual Raider (10-Jul-2013)
"Much though I love a trip to Venice, I must say I've had more exciting excursions. This is an extremely brief level - pick up some shotgun ammo, shoot some rats, dogs and baddies and pick up some more shotgun ammo (but no shotgun that I could find). There doesn't appear to be a finish trigger either, so when you've finished having an invigorating dip in the canal, you can just go home." - Jay (04-Apr-2011)
"Minimal to do except shooting some dogs or goons. Would be interesting if this was the beginning part of a bigger level. Textures look like Venice, ordinary. Not even a finish trigger. I don't advise to play it." - manarch2 (23-Jul-2010)
"This is very short and not so sweet. Even if it is in Venice." - Gerty (25-May-2010)
"Would've been a great Venetian level, but it ends after 3 minutes, and not even a finish trigger in this one. Looks unfinished." - rtrger (14-May-2010)
"The final trigger is missing on the level. We have to exit by ourself. Just some battles on this level. Unfinished level." - Obig (10-May-2010)
"It seems the level editor isn't being used properly. The construction shows flashing buried textures, the sky is somehow not defined right as the tops of buildings change as Lara moves, so things feel unstable. If Lara starts by turning and approaching the door behind her, she can kill a rat for shotgun ammo. This triggers two guys with clubs and a dog to appear, which essentially doubles game play. Lara climbs over crates to another area, and shoots a Venice gunman and dogs. No finish trigger that I could find." - dmdibl (06-May-2010)
"I'd be surprised if it took anyone more than 5 minutes to reach the sort of 'unofficial' ending - namely when you have killed everything in the plaza with the canal. To make it somewhat more challenging I dove into the water for the shotgun ammo first before taking care of the opponents, but that about sums up how much there actually is to do in this brief excursion in a Venice setting. The setting as such is actually rather nice-looking and I'd loved to have seen more done, but alas - it is what it is. If you don't mind them short and sweet, you can give this one a chance." - eTux (14-Jan-2010)
This comes across as little more than a very basic demo in order for the builder to get to grips with the Unofficial Editor. A handful of enemies and a shimmy is pretty much all you get from a gameplay standpoint, while little atmosphere is engendered out of the very basic (although competantly textured) surroundings. There isn't even a Finish Trigger;so this is really only recommendable to those who feel in the mood for 5 minutes of killing dogs and thugs. Try FZ's 'Diocletian Thermae'instead,to see what he's truly capable of." - Orbit Dream (11-Jan-2010)
"All this brief adventure of less than 5 minutes shows is two things: How far we have come with building custom levels if you compare this level from the very early days with todays BtB Venice competition 10 years later, but also how far this author has come from a first very crude experiment where you kill a few baddies, rats and dogs in a few boxy rooms to classic TR4 levels like San Giorgio or Diocletian Thermae within only a few months. Funny to see the small rat dropping the huge shotgun ammo - did not know that this 'joke' was actually already that old :)" - MichaelP (09-Jan-2010)
