Reviewer's comments
"I'm giving this level a high score due to respect of the original level (The Great Wall), and to the author for providing new skin (Golderak a.k.a. UFO Robot Grendizer) and new idle animation.
Although, I prefer if the author provide an original level for the Golderak skin to match, like a sci-fi level or an anime-esque level." - Charles Kane (01-Oct-2023)
"I'll just summarize it like this: first level: Lara has a different skin. Second level: Laras has a new standing animation. The rest is the original TR2 level we all know. But it's a test level, so that explains it all." - alan (23-Oct-2022)
"The 'Test Levels' title of this release is a bit deceptive. Both of the levels you will be playing in are copy pasted Great Wall files. The things that do change is that in one Lara's skin has been replaced by an anime character and in the other Lara has a janky idle animation along with some new enemy textures. Both of these things aren't really worthy of being placed in a level from the original game. The additions don't really seem impressive today, but they must have been important back in the olden days when editors weren't as optimized as they are today. Still, not recommended for anyone. You can simply see all the additions in the screenshots section." - LuxQSD (21-May-2022)
"The original “Great Wall” level, in two slightly altered variations. The first swaps the TR2 Lara skin for that of an anime character; the other keeps the skin but adds an idle animation (a thing that never really works in TR gameplay), and also replaces the spiders with eyeballs. Hilariously overrated due to reviewers’ struggles with the perceived dilemma of how to rate such an ontological prodigy." - Mulf (19-Feb-2021)
"It seems that this builder loaded the original TR2 map and did some minor changes with the outfits and the enemies, so don't bother playing the two levels, 'cause they are almost the same. Can't give higher ratings 'cause there are very few modifications. Not worth to play if you already played another remakes. Sorry." - Jose (28-Jan-2018)
"I guess we've been so spoiled with how the community itself exploits and builds upon the TR4 engine that this hardly seems anything, but I'm sure at the time of release they meant something. One of the levels inserts an idle animation to Lara, funny enough very similar to one that would come down the line in Underworld, while the other is a complete meshswap of the playable character. Like I said, maybe nothing impressive now, but a testlevel showcase for DXTRe3D users at the time. 05 minutes. 05/17" - Treeble (28-May-2017)
"I may have scored this a bit lower than average, but there's nothing much to write home about here. Basically, we have two versions of the TR2 Great Wall level, the only changes being that in one, Lara has morphed into a completely different character who seems to have wandered out of another game, and in the other, a new "hands on hips" animation for Lara, possibly pondering her situation and wondering why she has been brought back here. I would say play the original if you must as the differences are minor." - Ryan (27-Jul-2016)
"This is the same like the great wall from tomb raider 2, just Lara herself and some enemies are changed. Explore what they have been turned into!!! ;)" - Nuri (19-Aug-2015)
"This is nothing more than two identical level files of the famous Great Wall, which both share the exact same level of quality as the original. The only real noteworthy differences however is that in one version, Lara seems to be cosplaying as some kind of Japanese manga/anime character that I've never heard of(while on the job) and the other one has a new stationary animation for Lara and eyeball enemies that are in the spider slot(which in all honesty, don't really need a whole new level file dedicated to them.) Unless you're a fan of replaying classic levels with a few cosmetic differences however, this series of test levels simply isn't worth bothering with." - Ceamonks890 (24-Jul-2014)
"The scores may seem a little harsh;but really, all that's happened here is that the author has taken the original prj for the Great Wall level and used it to release two identical levels with only a few minor changes.Viz:replacing Lara with a somewhat clunky individual named Golderak in level 1;and for level 2,modifying Lara so that she places her hands on her hips briefly, and adding eyeballs instead of spiders (which is entertaining the first time you see them). No points in any of the other categories, though,as these were not the work of the 'builder'.Nonetheless, for those who just can't get enough of the original Great Wall level, this release provides them the opportunity to play them twice;in,of course, the two extremely different ways." - Orbit Dream (24-Feb-2014)
"This is two versions of the Great wall, one with a replacement model for Lara and the other with a new idle animation ("animation" is a bit of a misnomer when it just gets snapped to immediately when Lara stands still) and a new eyeball model for the Spiders. The new Lara model has flaws like the old Lara sounds still being present, but I'm not sure how much that an be changed on the old engine. Maybe it's of interest for some looking into what can be done with the TR2 engine but that's it. Since the models are the only changes I rated based on those and ignored everything else." - Mman (04-Feb-2012)
"This level is hard to rate because only the characters and enemies in this level have changed. The builder was not very resourceful to place the Great Wall level with a different Lara, I can't give much points because of that, sorry." - manarch2 (05-Dec-2010)
"These are two test character replacements placed within the TR2 Great Wall level. In the first level, Lara is replaced by the creature, Golderak. This may be quite an accomplishment, and fascinating to builders, but from a player's point of view the creature is crude. There is a visible open seam at the waist. The club hands appear to revert to Lara hands when pistols are drawn. In the second level, Lara has a new idle animation: she places her hands on her hips. At first glance this looks good, but during the course of a game Lara would be in the middle of an activity, climbing boulders, would start to put her hands on her hips, then abort the animation to make a jump up. After a while this got silly. Also in this second level little spiders have been replaced by large eyeballs--there, too, the novelty value wears thin quickly. The Great Wall level, with its textures and game play, are not the point. The author seems to have taken the original level and replaced slots for character animations. He couldn't even be bothered to design a couple of rooms to showcase his handiwork. So I have tried to score only for the author's work. As stated, the character substitutions are mostly of interest to builders." - dmdibl (18-May-2010)
"There are two levels. In the first one the outfit is replaced. The second on is the The Wall level of TR2, just the spiders are modifided." - Obig (10-May-2010)
"Nothing new here in terms of gameplay as we get two rendition of the classic Great Wall level that we all know already. Only modification in these 'test levels' are around the playable character and thus may be worth a look to those who are interested in these kind of changes and what was possible with the TR2 engine already so long ago. Everybody else should probably stay clear of this one..." - MichaelP (21-Mar-2010)
"Not sure if there's a correct way to rate these kinds of levels, but it's on the wishlist so I'll give it a try. Both levels are the great wall level from TR2. The first one uses a different character besides Lara but none of the sounds are altered (something that I acknowledge is tougher to do with non-TR4 engines) and the hands are not fixed for the weapons. The second level uses a new static animation where Lara puts her hands on her hips, and you might notice that the bubbles she releases underwater have become blood stains for some reason. That's all the changes I noticed. Since it is a pre-fabricated level I decided to put the ratings at about average (6) except for the objects score, where all the creativity has gone for this pair of levels. Might be worth a look for the curious out there, especially those aspiring to be builders." - SSJ6Wolf (02-Mar-2010)
