Reviewer's comments
"Couldn't finish the level due to the problem of reloading that didn't let Lara move because the cutscene bars appeared. I had never seen that bug; it's a terrible game killer. That happened when I arrived at the dark room with helicopters. I was near the end so I quit the level there, sadly, 'cause I really wanted to blow away those helicopters and sentry guns. The level is not bad, textures are quite good and is a bit dark in places. You will find powerful weapons along your way to deal with the guards. Play it but beware of the killing game bug." - alan (02-Apr-2018)
"A very brisk City/Base level involving shooting guards, destroying machine guns and using the motorbike very briefly. It's not too bad to look at, albeit a bit dark in places, but there's nothing really hefty going on. Nice to see an old level branching out in different texture sets though." - Ryan (01-Jul-2017)
"Not a bad little base level, this one. It's business as usual, with lots of guards and sentry guns, plus a short motorbike ride, but it moves along nicely and some care appears to have been taken with the actual building work." - Jay (25-Feb-2016)
"Small level easy to play with a fast gameplay. Nothing interesting except shooting the barrels to make the machine guns explode (freezing the game if I reload); pull a floor lever, pull another floor lever... There is an effort with the lights, and the texturization is not bad too. Good flybies and cameras but no musics; only SASs to shoot and enough guns and ammo. Playable but not very funny." - Jose (12-Nov-2015)
"A typical army Base level built with the city Wad , which is fluent to play and with nothing tricky to do. There is a couple of choppers to blow out and a short drive with the motorbike. A quickie about 15 minutes a bit too simple with a certain quality. Good flybys , and I like the rusty textures in the corridors. There is a big annoyance with this level : when I reloaded a savegame , Lara was frozen , and I could only quit the game with CTRL+ALT+SUP. So this level is only playable if done in one go, which is not too difficult as Lara does not die here except possibly at the end, but I had to restart the level at least 5 times to take the screenshots !" - eRIC (19-Jan-2009)
"Well that was fun! Due to the Savegame Bug I was compelled to play this level in one go without dying and the added frisson subsequently induced provided a boost to the overall Gameplay. Not that it necessarily needed it as this is an action-packed and continually fast-flowing outing in a very well textured and lit environment. Indeed the Finale in the beautiful Military Hanger at the end was one of the best I've yet encountered and was very well done (as was the cinematic sequence when you blew up the first Helicopter at the start of the adventure); so much so that I was frustrated with the Save Bug for not permitting me to experience it (and the 'fire-chase' sequence that has you sprinting over the Finish Trigger) all over again. This level seems harshly underrated to me as it provides a classic example of a fun 25-30 minute experience which builds in momentum all the time leading to a splendid and definite end." - Orbit Dream (20-Apr-2004)
"Bright detailed textures make a good impression on me from the start. Good camera moves add to that. You get lots of action including a detonating helicopter. I liked the final sequence when Lara is running fast through a corridor that starts burning. Unfortunately everything was a bit too simple - go to the next switch the next door opens and since you find ammunition en masse your opponents don't stand a chance either. And the motorbike ride was too short. The level may be fun for beginners but not for experts." - Rüdiger (07-Nov-2003)
"The prj and tga I got were fine when I called them into Room Edit but when I outputted it I could play the level sort of but had a very psychedelic experience as regards textures. So I got to pull a floor switch blow up the helicopter shoot guards pick up lasersight and revolver crash through the wall with the bike but nothing else. Couldn't reload or I crashed. So in the end I abandoned the level and never got to see the burning petrol I read about in the other reviews. My scores are probably too severe as a result." - CC (02-Oct-2003)
"After reading the other reviews and the problems they had with loading saved games I decided to play this straight through without saving which was difficult as the level was pitch black and there were both soldiers and machine guns to get by as you searched for jump switches in the dark. This prj. file might be a good starting place for another level designer but it's hard to see this as a completed level." - RaiderGirl (05-Feb-2003)
"A very annoying level. I started this and as I was getting further I sort of liked it although it's straight forward with nothing spectacular only levers and a couple of jump switches to open doors. Well the whole atmosphere a typical base setting altered to the worse when after dying a couple of times mostly from fires every time I tried to reload Lara was trapped in a cut scene. I played it twice and I had to not save not even once although there are quite a few SAS guards but the sentry guns and being too close to the explosion when you shoot the red barrels to destroy them along with the helicopters is the biggest problem. At one point when you get to the area with the first helicopter if you go through the opening above you find some goodies but also you are behind the helicopter and sentry guns shooting through that breakable wall somehow the cut scene is triggered as if you shot the red barrel and its destroyed. Anyway I was terrified near the end with the fires starting to light as Lara moved along but thankfully the level ended soon after that so I didn't have to play it a third time. My advice is not to play it because of its loading problems very frustrating." - Kristina (29-Dec-2002)
"A typical base level with surprisingly few crawls. You open a lot of doors kill some SAS guards drive the motorbike through a wall and have to get rid of a couple of sentry guns by blowing up the nearby helicopters. Actually there are some signs that you can't save after you blow up the first helicopter (well you can save but you can't reload) but thankfully there are no mean traps so I was able to finish the game on my first try. I liked the rusty bits the fly bys and the fast pace; in fact the atmosphere is quite good; however this can't disguise the fact that the gameplay is rather unimaginative and offers not many thrills except for the final dash from the oncoming flames. But as you're through it in 20 minutes it ends before it can become boring. But what was the second revolver and lasers sight for?! Was it a subtle hint that you had to do some more target shooting? After all you were unlikely to reach the second set of weaponry if you had missed the first one." - Dimpfelmoser (14-Dec-2002)
"Set in a base gee there's a surprise you have to make your way through the level pulling levers exploding a couple of choppers and of course taking out many SAS. I found the level which only lasted 20 minutes quite straightforward but there were a couple of stand out moments at the end a great camera flyby shows some spilled gasoline being ignited and this lit spill then chases you down a hallway and just before this happened by accident a soldier shooting at me had his bullet roll back and ignite a barrel that exploded the chopper killing him ain't irony a bitch! Otherwise this level was nothing we haven't already seen in the dozens of other base levels out there." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"A standard City WAD level with the added bonus of a great texture set. Gameplay is very straightforward and you get a decent amount of soldiers to kill with your pistol. Helicopters and machine guns are nicely used. Unfortunately there seems to be a major bug with the first helicopter fly by camera as this screws up the Lara camera and also I was unable to reload a savegame as my game then freezes so I had to play it all in one go." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"A nice level though it was really short (around 20 minutes). You have just to find your way out of a base. The author did a good work in the flyby cameras. In some part of the level you could wisely choose to take a ride on the bike or go on foot to the other side. Nice objects placement mainly the machine guns and helicopters. Unfortunately I had the same problem that Michael had and this happens only in the FINAL AREA: this is if you die there you have to start from the beginning! It was ingenious that the author had the idea to make the fire burn and advance tile by tile right behind Lara. Take it and play this cool level." - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"This level is very well designed but it is an example for a nicely decorated box with nothing in it. What I mean is that the level is impressive: nice explosions helicopters enemies- but no puzzles at all. There is only one puzzle type which I call "pull this switch trigger that". No puzzles at all. Still the level was very enjoyable very fun and even challenging." - Yonatan (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a dark dark level. I had to use the flycheat to give me more flares and even then it was impossible to see where Lara was going. So bumping into something that means you found a wall so stay close to it. Halfway through I gave up. And I take the other reviewers by their word. Still wonder if it was me or if this was a very dark level. 25-05-2002" - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
