Reviewer's comments
"Pleasant linear level for those who don't want to worry too much. The cameras pass through the walls and there are many red baddies. Lots of stretched or packed textures." - Drakan (28-Apr-2020)
"It is delightfully refreshing to behold such a decent Egyptian adventure provided by this author. Everything is almost perfect, although I wasn't satisfied with Enemies, because there were too many red baddies waiting for Lara to evade her bullets, hence you need to pick up as much Uzi Ammo as you can throughout the adventure. Please give this a go, you won't regret it. Thanks a lot!" - Mehrbod (27-Mar-2020)
"This level has an intriguing title, but I found it rather disappointing. It's basically an exercise in finding or doing things that open doors so you can progress, and the game map is so sprawling that this all gets rather boring after a while. The enemies are assassins and bats, and several of the secrets documented in Harry Laudie's walkthrough were completely pointless. The lighting is good, so you never once have to light a flare, but my overall impression after a mere 32 minutes was one of utter monotony. Strictly one to play when you have nothing else to do." - Phil (21-Sep-2018)
"This is another average Egyptian level. In this one there are a lot of red ninjas. Also there are various paths to take that will lead you to the same place, so you decide which one to take. The temple in the end looked good." - alan (01-Nov-2017)
"This level certainly seems well made aesthetically, but I was left rather unsatisfied by the rather meagre gameplay. Some of the texturing in the final area is a bit repetitive and some of the flybys were rather disconcerting, but the appearance was generally rather nicely made. The gameplay got rather tedious though, with a lot of Vraeus (Vraei?) and Guardian Keys to locate, plus scads and scads of ninjas to shoot. The die/reload crash issues didn't bother me, probably because I never died once, so to speak." - Ryan (26-Jun-2017)
"Try not to die or reload if you don't want the irritation of crashing. This level looks better than it plays, being quite solidly built with attractive, if rather empty, rooms. The gameplay is somewhat less attractive, involving visiting and revisiting areas in search of a ridiculous number of uraeus and guardian key artefacts, killing lots of ninjas and doing a fair bit of swimming. Not the most stimulating of levels." - Jay (03-Jun-2015)
"Not so underground 'cause there are outside areas too, but this level was not so easy as I though at first moment 'cause the half lineal gameplay forcing you to re-visit the previous rooms often. This level should be called "pools level" 'cause there are pools almost in all rooms so prepare yourself for continuous swimming. Not good the gameplay always pulling switches, killing ninjas and searching for many golden vraeus to place and open doors; I didn't find puzzles. There's an effort with the lights, and the level is not bad textured, the author knows how to manage the wall panels, but sometimes it notices a clic and drag to apply the same texture tile in big surfaces. I missed more cameras when pulling switches 'cause sometimes the doors are far from the triggers; also there's a pain that you can't reload a savegame when playing. Anyway it was not a bad level for me." - Jose (30-Apr-2015)
"A nice level with lots of Golden Vraeus to collect and use, several levers to pull yet gameplay was extremely easy and straighforward, enemies were well placed, well designed rooms. However, I did not understand the fact some niches were actually secrets, also some places remained unvisited which I thought there were different ways to accomplish this level. All in all an entertaining level which took me about 25 minutes to finish" - Gonxii (02-Oct-2013)
"Lara has discovered a temple and explored this structure inside and outside, until she is after less than one hour in the destination. The riddles are very easy here. In the rule, one bumps almost automatically into the request things. The doors open either by themselves, or by lever, or by Item. A few easy diving actions are also present. Opponents are bats and Baddies who already appear sometimes in the herd. However, enough ammunition exists, also one finds one or other Medipack. The textures reach from wonderfully to wonderfully slovenly. The architecture also reaches from very nicely, to not so good." - Scottie (17-Apr-2009)
"I don't really know where to start with this one. Most of the time I spent wondering whatever I was doing, yet I never got stuck - most of the time you have two paths to follow and neither seem to be a dead end ever. You get to pick up lots of Golden Vraeus throughout the level to open more doors and proceed, killing ninjas as you go. Texturization is a mess for the most of the time, the mix fails to create a convincing atmosphere and lighting is plain boring. 20 minutes, 3 secrets. 01/07" - Treeble (29-Jan-2007)
"I have nothing much to add to the other reviews; except to say that I DID try the alternative route, but came unstuck without a Vraeus. This leads me to suspect that this aspect of the gameplay is a bug, rather than an intended bonus. Other than that I found the construction of the rooms to be sound enough, although a touch uninspired; while the flybys really let the whole thing down. I loved the 'door breaking open' moment, though." - Orbit Dream (31-May-2005)
"A simple level with a lot of vraeus and a guardian key or two didn't count them. The doors were opening and I was hearing the sound of a bull smashing them but it only fooled me a couple of times then I got used to the idea and of course there was no bull. The textures are stretched at times especially the ladders. A bit of swimming and killing ninjas luckily you get the Uzi. I didn't open a couple of doors but I was able to finish so I guess there were secrets behind them. Give it a try but don't expect too much." - Kristina (23-Dec-2002)
"This is another one of those annoying levels that drops you to the desktop every time Lara dies or you try to load a save game. Simply unacceptable. This level was plagued with those bloody annoying red ninjas and I must say that the gameplay is bland and uninteresting. I have read that there are alternate paths to take in this level but it matters zilch as boring is boring no matter which way you choose to go." - Torry (11-Aug-2002)
"An easy level where you have to find a few artifacts (guardian keys and golden vraeus) and switches to progress. The rooms look good the author has used textures from TR1 TR3 TR4. I did not kill all the ninjas I found more funny to trap some of them behind closing doors. The mystery is: what happened to the bulls of the Guard wad? The level ends after 33 minutes on a fly-by showing the entrance of a beautiful temple but unfortunately Lara can't enter. I don't like to be stuck but this one is too much easy. Nevertheless pleasant." - eRIC (11-Aug-2002)
"A level built with the guard WAD but it does not feature a bull. Instead it is actually a very linear adventure picking up several vraeus' and guardian keys on your 25 minutes journey through rather large rooms with colourful texturing and some twenty ninjas and a few bats along the way. The flybys could use some work as they go through walls the one slicer dicer is probably the most difficult element and I found one secret (Uzi) and probably missed at least one other as I had three doors which never opened for me. Even the underwater maze was rather tame in this one - let your kids play it." - Michael (19-Jul-2002)
"Considering the name of the level this wasn't what I expected at all but actually it was even better as I'm not really into the city levels too much. One of the first doors scared the holy snot outta me when I walked in front of it and it opened with a loud crack. In fact it seems like a lot of doors magically opened by themselves though some were opened by a guardians key or vraeus. Apparently there is more than one path to take as I left some unopened doors but I couldn't go back and look as the doors often close behind you blocking your path. I'm curious where the alternate route started though. The level is good looking though nothing spectacular and interesting to play though some of the puzzles could have been a bit tougher. Like I said the doors either opened for you or the key was in the room beside where you use it. Definitely worth replaying to check out the other route." - RaiderGirl (10-Jul-2002)
"Here again is a level that relies on the generic 'opening gates and doors to progress with levers and key pick ups and no other type of puzzle' theory but with a twist as you find there are two different middle adventures to get to the end giving the level re-playability but although there is that aspect I still couldn't rate it higher game play wise because it was still very easy and there was nothing spectacular about it. Both variations of the level take around 30 minutes to play with 3 secrets each and both have quite a few ninjas to battle but one has a few nice 4th person camera angles. Also near the end in a large grassy outdoor area there was one gate I couldn't open up high in an inaccessible area so being curious I DOZYed up to it and could see over the top of it a picture of either the creator at a young age or his son which was a nice idea. As I said this is an easy and not so thrilling level but if you're looking for a more challenging and exciting level then I recommend checking out one of this creator's other works Eldorado." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a very simple level with no real puzzles. The one twist is that there are two routes to the end one of which yields an extra secret. On the upside some (but not all) of the interior rooms are nicely designed textured and lighted. And I did get a bit of a heart attack when passing a door which usually hides a bull and having it suddenly burst open with a loud crack - but no toro in sight." - Tombaholic (21-Jun-2002)
"With as many twists and turns as this level has when you do finally find the ending it catches you by surprise. I'm going to have to go back and play it again simply because it appears that the paths branch off and you have different ways of getting to the end. My only complaint about this level would have to be that the textures were a little boring at times." - Scott (21-Jun-2002)
"After finishing this level I felt I was missing something as there were some doors that still were closed. So I played it again and as Sash already wrote the middle part you can play different. Reading her review I had to use the flycheat to see that picture myself and ooooooh what a cute boy. Main thing is getting 4 or was it 3 Vareans (or hands of Orion the level called them) and I found two other pointy things (keys) you only need one though. Lots of room all brightly lit. Main enemies are ninjas ninjas and bats. Don't know what was wrong with the ninjas as in one room they ran into a wall and kept running and in the big outdoor open area they all stood in one corner probably having a conversation so it was just a matter of pulling Lara's trigger finger and the fight was over. Very strange. In other rooms they did give me a fright as they kept on sneaking upon Lara. In the end I had to swim the moat but that was just for fun. I had to rename the tr4 file as my mac wouldn't want to play the level but after that it worked OK. 29-04-2002" - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"Not much evidence of a city in this level, but maybe that's the mystery. This is your standard find and place items, push levers to open doors adventure. You go from room to room, one step at a time and everything that has to be done is pretty obvious. The atmosphere is convincing enough, and textures and lightning well done. However, that wouldn't justify the download. I found two really remarkable things here. At one stage you come to an abyss you have to jump over and you see Lara from a distance with a fixed camera angle while she is attacked by a swarm of bats (is it a swarm of bats? no, a flock of bats, or a bevy of bats, a school of bats maybe?) but as your viewpoint is so far away and it's fairly dark you don't see the bats, only this red mist around Lara and that makes this moment really scary. Usually the bats are just laughable and here I immediately started to panic. Great moment. The other highpoint comes near the end when you get attacked by five ninjas on something that resembles a football ground. I replayed this battle three times cause you could practice the jump and twist, while drawing and undrawing guns without constantly bumping into walls. That was great fun." - Dimpfelmoser (21-Jun-2002)
