Reviewer's comments
"Not sure how this level could have survived alpha testing, let alone beta testing. It requires DOZY to reach the end, it is littered with items that can't be picked up, it suffers from unmarked ladders and monkeyswings, not to mention entire walls remaining untextured. There's no attempt to adjust the lighting or use the textures at an appropriate size...or the rooms themselves, for that matter. The outdoor pyramid area was kind of neat, for what it's worth. 7 minutes." - JesseG (12-Jan-2023)
"It's a mystery that this one has been released at all as it's not even a level , but some sort of project looking completly unfinished where nothing seems to work. You can dozy your way to see all that is in there like artifacts lying on the ground you can not pick up , but don't climb the pyramid as the flyby triggered up there is not a one- shot sequence." - eRIC (30-Aug-2019)
"Just a lot of big and empty rooms to run through, a few enemies to avoid (or kill, if you wish), badly applied textures and buggy. I kinda liked the exterior areas but besides that, there's nothing interesting in here." - alan (24-May-2018)
"Again, I can't understand how an author release a level without previously play it and be sure it can be finished. Nothing to do here except advance until you find a huge pit you can't cross. I saw in the walkthrough that DJ could play a bit more with the dozy cheat, but I never liked to use it so I soon left the game. The architecture and texturization are very bad, so don't bother yourself by downloading this attemp of a level." - Jose (13-Dec-2017)
"Just an utterly dreadful debut level in practically every aspect, containing nothing but massively bloated, unappealing blocky rooms which literally serve no purpose, other than to drag things out & requiring the use of the fly cheat, to even make progression at points. So obviously, avoid this one at all costs." - Ceamonks890 (18-Nov-2017)
"The Ruins of Stretched and Missing Textures. This was a horrible level. Blatant missing and stretched textures and the need to DOZY to make any progress is bad but so are the out of place sound files. Not recommended at all." - Ryan (19-May-2016)
"Oh dear! This really is a bit of a mess from every aspect. The fact that you can't make much progress before needing to dozy is discouraging to say the least, but even with that option available it still isn't possible to progress much. The builder's heart really wasn't in it and even those delightful coastal sound files can't inject much pleasure into the proceedings." - Jay (01-May-2016)
"This is one of those levels (recommended to me,might I add) that you feel dirty and unclean having played. It's a "I never could be bothered to read something so boring as the Manual" level;made by a builder who never got around to constructing anything else, for which I'm glad. One point for the enemies. The remaining categories deserve nothing whatsoever." - Orbit Dream (03-May-2013)
"Oversized. And... urrghh... Invisible walls, invisible portal, a key which we can't get and a slot for it we can't use. A block too high to climb and no ladder to help it. Had to DOZY 2 times. However, +1 point for the author for changing the environment from inside to outside and from outside to inside (and the exterior is built rather fine). SUMMARY: Good climate, but it can't help sad truth that making the rooms bigger doesn't make bigger adventure." - DJ Full (11-Oct-2010)
"I cannot really conceive, that the ruler of Kazak has built such an ugly thing. Such a thing can only be from a levelbulder. The rooms are gigantic. The textures, up to a few exceptions, stretched. It is too light. There is sometimes a lack of textures. A monkeyswing does not function, thus one must use the cheat. There are graphic mistakes. One can swim through grid et cetera. Or in other words: Here is everything in a level, what does not belong in a level. But luckily it lasts only just 15 minutes." - Scottie (30-Apr-2009)
"First attempt, very huge rooms and stretched and repetivie textures, illegal slopes, untextured slopes... blablabla ... just the usual stuff. But nice atmosphere." - Tinka (28-Oct-2005)
"Very poorly textured and very basically constructed level. Outdoors against a plain wall a door opens as you approach. Into an enormous I don't know what, is it a tomb? Well, there are skeletons in there, and the highlight of this level was watching them descend from on high to floor level. You cannot finish this level without dozy as you reach an invisible wall and a wide gap you can jump across. Even the lone skellie can't reach you through the invisible wall. Having dozied across you come across a 'pyramid', on top of which is the knot, and that's where the level ends. Or should I say, the level is supposed to end. But what happens is a looping flyby. This should only be classed as a test level, and only worth looking at if you are 'really' curious." - CC (14-Jun-2005)
"I don't see anything in this level that is characteristic of Kazak a landlocked republic south of Russia and northeast of the Caspian Sea. The original Turkic-speaking inhabitants were overrun by Mongols in the 13th century and this region became an Asian Soviet Republic from 1936 to 1991 (also known as Kazakhstan). This level has a few technical flaws. The textures are stretched the rooms are enourmous there are a few paper-thin walls a fly-by is bugged the water textures are badly placed the lighting is always at R 128 G 128 B 128 some textures are missing some doors are partially buried a few objects cannot be picked up (a golden star and a portal guardian) the author doesn't know how to make a decent monkey swing (therefore the player has to use DOZY in order to finish this level) the pools are un-textured and they cannot be distinguished from dry land. There are a few skeletons some wild boar and two crocodiles. The objective is to climb to the top of a pyramid (why is there a pyramid in this level?) containing a pharos knot which would open two doors the moment you pick it up. Surprisingly you cannot pick up the golden star and its key hole is beyond Lara's reach. The level ends very abruptly." - Sakusha (28-Oct-2004)
"Slightly worse than Palace Of Death this level is not really different from that one. Huge rooms stretched textures untextured spots (climb the invisible!) unmarked tiles (monkey swing at flat ceiling!) and useless items: you pick up the crowbar two tiles away from those where you find two golden stars (the kind you pull off walls with the crowbar). However you can't use the crowbar. Just ignore them. Later on you'll find the slot for the star - but Lara isn't tall enough to reach it so ignore it as well and run to the next room et voilá! You're done with this level." - Treeble (06-Dec-2003)
"Reading the other reviews I didn't expect too much. Huge empty rooms and I also needed the fly cheat to get any further. But this was a quicky and I wanted that and now I am off to see the last flight of the Concorde and the landing at Heathrow on my telly. 24-10-2003" - Gerty (12-Nov-2003)
"Please tell I didn't just waste 5 minutes of valuable time downloading this. The level only lasts 10 minutes and the oddest 10 minutes for a long time. But the author should take pleasure in the fact that he/she has used the most stretched textures in history." - TrueRaider (03-Feb-2003)
"Awful. The textures are missing everywhere you can't pick up objects like the portal guardian a monkey swing is not set properly so DOZY is needed to proceed and a star is on the ground not pick able of course. Luckily another one is near it. While getting the knot a flyby got stuck and I had to try a lot to make it stop. Skeletons crocodiles wild boars will chase you and I couldn't get the crossbow on a block high up I missed something obviously. What else can I say except terrible." - Kristina (10-Dec-2002)
"Of course this is an awful level with textures missing in some places and impossibly stretched in others. But there are worse levels around that are rated considerably higher. At least this is over after 10 minutes. Well you find a crowbar (which -courtesy of dozy- you'll have anyway at that stage) and a slot for the star but before I could set out to find the star itself I stumbled into the finishing trigger. Furthermore I thought the enemies were placed rather well; but yes there are definitely better levels out there." - Dimpfelmoser (09-Oct-2002)
"What a horrid 15 minutes. I wish I had read the reviews before even booting it up. All I saw was 'coastal' and off I went. Things sitting around that you can't pick up terrible textures impossible areas. Don't bother." - Momster (16-Jul-2002)
"This is a level that really was I hate to say it bad! With large empty rooms missing or badly used textures pick ups that either couldn't be picked up were unreachable or that were just useless and a huge dull pyramid that was purely used as a staircase this 20 minute level is just really not worth worrying about." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"This looks like a rushed attempt of a first experiment by a novice author. The rooms are huge and empty with repetitive and stretched textures paperthin walls/floors by the dozen and just a few enemies around. Stairs and potential pick-ups are incorrectly placed and thus unusable there is a looping fly-by camera and I actually had to use the fly cheat to get through the level at all. With that it lasted 15 minutes without much to do." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"This level certainly was a ruin. Pathetic textures that were stretched and paper thin. Illegal slopes that would trap Lara without hope of escape. Objects that were placed in unobtainable positions. Overall a sad attempt and one not to bother with." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"I do not consider this project as a level it seems more a test project than anything else: simple square rooms thin walls horizon and walls that disappears all this sort of things that use to happen when you start to work with the level editor." - Josep (21-Jun-2002)
"It looks like this creator had some good ideas they just didn't know how to actually make them reality. Reminding me of both the tutorial level and the coastal level it looks like your only objective is to collect the Pharaos Knot and put it in its proper place. There are not really any puzzles here just running from large room to large room dodging a few skeletons and hoping the textures in the next room will be better. I got totally stuck at one point and had to use the fly cheat to get across a large room - I'd love to know what I was missing there. I would say this isn't worth looking at unless you're really curious." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a very poor attempt of trying to build a level. There's nothing good in it and you even have to DOZY to get past one point. The texturing is awful and the objects are badly placed. The level took me about seven minutes to finish and I still didn't rush through it. Certainly not worth downloading." - Magnus (21-Jun-2002)
"Argh when I read the reviews I remembered the nightmares of this level. You definitely can't finish it without cheating (using the good ol' DOZY) because the designer of this level didn't set up many things properly like the monkey swing thanks to what this level is really unfinishable without cheating. I had no choice than to give it a 'thousand' sorry. That's what happens when you try to make a level without even trying to understand the manual and making the tutorial. In my opinion this level shouldn't have been released at all and you shouldn't even download this level cause there are A LOT better ones out there..." - eTux (21-Jun-2002)
