"A short, but cute, Christmas track to run through in this game. Lara wants to get into the house and turn on the lights on the big Christmas tree. During your search you can collect 5 gift packages. These are the secrets. If you turn on the lights, the camera will take you around and the game is over. There are no enemies, but be careful, because Lara can get cold quickly, and only a hot chocolate can soothe the cold winter :) Hungarian videowalkthrough, and savegames, pictures" - Obig (01-Feb-2022)
"This level, wow the atmosphere, the soft melodic music, the theme all wonderful. It all helps you fall asleep in a good way, ready for Christmas morning. I loved this level, but there were some hiccups along the way. Gameplay and Puzzles - The puzzles were creative, but I had a lot of trouble at the beginning with a switch puzzle and at the end with a little tree, and I felt really silly after not understanding them at the beginning. I did however like the hot cocoa puzzle. Enemies, Objects and Secrets - Objects and Secrets were fun and engaging, but the rope swing was just too difficult for me at points. Atmosphere, Sound and Camera - Was perfect. Love the snow, love the mansion, love the sound. Was just so magical. Lighting and Textures - The lighting was a little stale in places, but the textures were wonderful. The textures elevated the atmosphere ten fold. Conclusion: Brilliant level, with some small issues that don't ruin the level overall." - JimmyBeon (04-Jun-2021)
"ive always found a lot of fun in making and playing mansion levels, and visibly this has to be one of the most original, stunning and beautiful, i got stuck on a couple of occasions but mainly the gameplay is quite simple tasks really, finding keys and objects to progress. there's some platforming, object pushing, rope swinging and swimming and there's a couple of original ideas here which are always welcome. i missed puzzles, missed traps and maybe the odd enemy? the music was sometimes a bit irritating and repetitive for me but that's just personal taste i think its a very relaxed and chilled level and i did enjoy exploring out in the snow and then in the mansion the rooms that were perfectly textured and lit with great objects, btw thanks to the builder for the arrows to point the way out of the hedge maze! if your looking for some light and relaxed gameplay in a gorgeous looking mansion this one is for you" - John (16-Apr-2021)
"A house level but in a completely different style and beautiful in its uniqueness. We do casual Xmas activities but warming up and maze getaway stand out a lot. One stuck error needs a fix: don't jump over the maze gate after drinking the chocolate or the freezing will reactivate to deny progress." - DJ Full (03-Feb-2017)
"Everything looked very nice in this level. The outside and inside were lovely, with the quiet music and furniture in the mansion. The puzzles are entertaining, like some with movable crates, movable trees, the hot chocolate to prevent Lara from freezing. I didn't get lost in the maze, and I didn't follow any instructions. Luckily, I managed to find the opening in the floor only by running and turning to random intersections... I even found the secret gift and it wasn't so difficult, by the way I found 4, so I missed 1... I liked the swimming pool room, it looked pretty nice, I also liked her bedroom, but placing an object above the "roof" of the bed is not a very good idea, I didn't know you could stand there. The pink revolver with its blue lasersight looked so funny, and you have to conserve the 6 bullets because I think there aren't any ammo boxes. The textures, lighting, all this looks fine, nothing I can complain about. It's nice to see the tree with its lights at the end of the level, with Lara's gifts by it. A lovely level, recommended, and if you play it when christmas is about to arrive, well, a better experience in my opinion ;)" - alan (13-Dec-2016)
"Nice little adventure in Lara's mansion. Nice background music and it looked beautiful. Nice idea for Lara to make a cup of hot chocolate to stop freezing. The maze was a bit long winded. Great for the season." - Ryan (25-Jan-2016)
"For a debut level, this was extremely accomplished. For an Advent level,it was a little too aggravating to fully hit its mark of creating an enjoyable seasonal experience. For a start, there are just too many places where progression is allowed to continue even though you haven't yet performed all the necessary tasks, leading to an inevitable impasse far too far down the line. Then there are some thoroughly obscure objectives (a crowbar on top of a four-poster bed that can only be climbed if Lara is placed in a specific position;a remodelled VCI Cupboard heavily disguised as a shelf, entailing the idiosyncratic 'have her take one step back in order to pick something up' manoeuvre). The hedge maze was probably the final straw for me,and ensured that the Finish Trigger couldn't put in an appearance soon enough. Against this,it must be pointed out that there are some charming moments (the warming cup of coffee;the 'Mists of Avalon'-inspired Gymnasium);and the texturing and object placement is delightful.Full marks go also to the Living Room, which is a thing of beauty;and the tasteful use of music and ambient sounds.Camera's are helpful (although a few more wouldn't go amiss),so it's not unenjoyable - it just needed to be a little fairer to the player in order to achieve its objective of generating a suitable festive spirit." - Orbit Dream (08-Dec-2015)
"You have to love Lara's bunny slippers, aren't they cute? They must have been soaking wet by the time I finished this level as I've been running around like a headless chicken at times but it was worth the while to see finally the Christmas tree full of nice lights. Still no fan of mazes and this one was no exception. The way back through the maze was luckily not so difficult thanks to the arrows that helped you out. What stand out are the objects and how they are used, the colour scheme is also great to look at." - Gerty (01-Dec-2015)
"Here we have a promising author. Very good design with all kind of details. All here is pretty, beautiful, marvellous... But what's about the gameplay? Again another typical mansion gameplay, going here and there to pull switches or look for keys. At least there's an interesting crates-puzzle in the maze, and it was a very good idea the flipmap with the arrow tiles to get out; but another times the author lets you advance through the level even if you have not the necessary items => backtracking and dead ends. I missed a camera target giving a hint to know where the crowbar is and some more cameras in certain places (example: a camera when you pick up the crowbar so players can see where the crowbar door is). Well choosen musics and nice environments, but Tomb Raider is not only that. Anyway, looking forward for more levels from this builder; I think there's enough potential to create good adventures." - Jose (18-Mar-2015)
"It is probably known by now that the typical home level gameplay style is not for me, as I find it rather boring and tedious to get through the search for the next switch - and this applies to this level for the most part as well. But - and that is a big BUT - in this instance that is kind of saved by the fact that it is all going on in one of the most beautifully crafted mansions I have seen in custom levels. The objects and how they are used, the choice of colours and lights all makes this a wonderful 40 minute experience, although slightly harmed by the hedge maze, of course. You can find 5 gifts as a bonus and you will feel very much in Christmas spirit by the final flyby - and I say that even though I just played this in the early days of spring... :)" - MichaelP (14-Mar-2015)
"I Couldn't Review The Xmas Levels That I Have Played In December So i'm Review them this month.to start off, this level astonishe me the building and use of objects is simply beautiful the atmosphere is realistic too but the gameplay felt a little weak." - janachorider (05-Jan-2015)
"I found this to be a refreshingly peaceful and atmospheric hour-long raid, perfect for the Christmas season. I encountered none of the issues mentioned by the previous reviewers, undoubtedly because the posted video kept me on the right path at all times. I did find the maze segment to be excessively grueling, however, although the builder considerately provided directional arrows for the player on the way out. You get a revolver about halfway through, not to shoot enemies (there are none) but to shatter certain obstacles that enable you to progress. Not many flares are provided, but you don't need them (I think I used one to locate a wall switch). Recommended." - Phil (04-Jan-2015)
"Gameplay & Puzzles: I liked the timed run and the pushable puzzles but the rest was a bit ordinary, the maze, the mansion, not really much to do, and there is a bad bug with the Xmas tree. Enemies, Objects & Secrets: There are good objects here but those are also a bit buggy, not so serious, but not quite great to see those bugs. Admirable things are plenty though and the secrets were also good except the last one. Atmosphere, Sound & Cameras: The atmosphere is nice and the mansion looks very nice, there are a few thin walls and not so great architecture (you have to drop from a stairway into a room?), the maze is rushed too with many mistakes. The sounds are okay and the cameras nice, especially the last one. Lighting & Textures: The texturing is nice to look at but could need more attention with some misplaced ones and some that look too much the same on all walls (one colour). The lighting is sometimes good and sometimes too bright. Total: 7/10, nice but a little too buggy and with too few highlights." - Rambo (31-Dec-2014)
"Home Xmas levels are one of my faves when it comes to playing. This level comes with an exquisite interior decoration and modern design. It's always a pleasure when such things are there to serve the purpose of comfort and delight, like the bamboo floor in the bathroom and the spiral staircase in the grand living room with the outstanding tree. The hot chocolate puzzle was a nice touch and so was the timed run against the freezing cold. But sadly that's all I could play... because of the invisible walls surrounding the small tree that I had to raise in the library. I'm so disappointed by the glitches that I cannot get pass of a 7 in gameplay." - young Lara Croft (30-Dec-2014)
"A pretty game, with the habitual flaw of the continuous sweet music. There are some very good ideas in terms of gameplay, as the hot chocolate one, for example; and that lighted Christmas tree, in the end, is unforgettable. The exterior scenarios are lovely, but the indoors ones are unconvincing, frankly sketchy, at places. It was hard to divine the hiding place of that crowbar... or how to climb there, for we must approach that bed from the front side in order to grab above it, and at first sight this seems impossible. As to the maze, the map was a very kind idea, and I also liked very much the arrows that appear when Lara comes back, easying her progress. Conclusion: a cute Christmas game that you have to play, and a nice job." - Josey (29-Dec-2014)
"I love home levels, and even more those that are Christmas-themed, so I enjoyed this one immensely. To get the bad points out of the way: I've given 8 points for gameplay as I don't particular like dying in a Christmas level. Having said that, it was an interesting, and once you know it, fun experience to get the cocoa down your throat so you don't freeze to death. I had to reload the game, but that was good, because when I restarted, I found the first cup part which I had overlooked the first time round. I also spent quite some time trying to figure out the yellow key under the bush and still don't know if it is indeed even possible to get, and what it is good for. I had none of the technical problems other players reported, and since I always keep to the right in a maze, I didn't have any problems with any of the mazes. In fact I thought they were fun. :) Found all secrets which is rare for me. There were plenty of pretty objects in the house, I gagged a bit when I saw the pink revolver, but hey! it was fun. The training room was not hard at all as I had feared at first. Overall, the lighting, textures and atmosphere were delightful. The rooms looked lovely and the sound was good, outside and inside. Great level, thank you!" - Manymee (27-Dec-2014)
"Lara running around in her jammies and bunny slippers is pretty cute, even if the biting cold does mean she's in urgent need of a restorative hot drink. In a Christmas level with no enemies as such, battling the cold is an inventive idea. There are some nice touches in this level and it certainly looks good - the mansion has some rather imposing architecture and is quite unlike its usual incarnations. I also really appreciated the map for the maze, not to mention the direction arrows that appeared on the return journey. It's very atmospheric, with effective sound files and music and turning on the lights on the enormous tree makes for a most satisfying conclusion to approximately an hour and ten minutes of gameplay. Certainly I found this impressive for a debut level." - Jay (27-Dec-2014)
"G&P= This level is quite interesting and easy, some pushable to move on the right place involving rising bloc, a bit of "fire" puzzle, (you need to make ice to melt for instance), there is a labyrinth, at a moment there is "a frozen bar", you need to hurry then. I found a bug about this bar, if you go up the wall where you activate the bar the first time, then you'll re-activate it, but you cannot desactivate it twice. The level involves a bit of exploration and a bit of backtracking, but I never lost myself in this level. The only bad point with this gameplay is the bug with the frozen bar, and maybe the placement of some key (the one up the bed (sorry for the small spoil). E,O&S= the level is nicely decorated, a lot of objects are well made, well placed. Secrets were nice, I searched a lot for the one you need the jumpSwitch. And it was really cool. No enemies and sometimes objects are disappearing, or have no collision box (in the kitchen I found one)You need to change the "visibility box" under strpix to avoid the disappearence of these. A,S&C= Atmosphere is really nice, it remember me a bit the level of sheevah, sheevah's Home that I really appreciated. Sounds were quite nice, with some "ambiance" sounds. The camera was nice (flyby) but the way she did could have been crowded by pushables. L&T, it was nice for me. I did not found problems with textures. This level is one of theses I really enjoy to play, quite easy but not too much, really beautiful and without too much bugs. Highly recommanded and merry X-mas to everyone !" - Lara_Fox_Croft (25-Dec-2014)
"Despite some more serious problems with this level I want to give this level credit for being a quite wonderful Christmassy experience. The thing that stands out most here is the object design - there are many very nice home objects to admire here and those are the main reason why the atmosphere worked quite well here. On the other side, textures and lighting (although chosen well enough for the most part) have a quite bland appearance and often could need much more attention, the maze suffers most in this regard - which albeit is way too confusing and really destroys a bit of the fun here, although the "external help" on the way back was most cute. Still, the gameplay positively surprises with a few quite nice puzzles, a timed run against the cold and quite a few nice room connections that enhance the exploration factor of this level. It still feels like a rather simple home level at most and could have been enhanced with much more puzzles and other tasks - especially not another (thankfully small) underwater maze following the hedge one. I also found a serious bug in which I couldn't move the christmas tree off the raising block after a save/reload as an invisible wall was blocking it, and generally this level should have had more camera clues, I especially felt lost after using the lever in the machinery room. Overall a rather enjoyable and festive level that could have tried more to stand out from the standard home levels. Found 5 nice secrets in 30 minutes." - manarch2 (24-Dec-2014)
"Nice puzzles, wonderful atmosphere and the home is gorgeous. The level really got the xmas spirit. But I think some challenges were very difficult. For exemple, Lara running against time to drink a chocolate was too frustrating for me. The maze was very extended and at some point I got tired from running inside of it even knowing the right way. Some switches animations are not correct, and this is bad since I stepped out of the floor before the animation of the switch could finish and the trigger didn't work, so I had to go back, stepping on the trigger again to work. Some players may have problems with this. But except for these issues I loved the level!" - Gabriel Croft (24-Dec-2014)
"It's Lara's house, which in a way means you've seen it already, but this Christmas version is quite nicely decorated and full of a few surprises. Unfortunately some of those surprises were more nasty than others. A game-stopping issue I encountered was the tree that gets lifted into the library - each time the lift was raised, it was surrounded by solid invisible walls so you could not grab at the tree inside. Additionally, saving/loading after this causes the tree to disappear. Thankfully a fellow raider shared a save so that I could finish this level. Another issue is the spiral staircases, which look great but don't function very well with the archaic game engine, and the bed that you can only climb onto from a specific direction. Like many holiday levels the gameplay was a little on the skimpy side, but consists of a timed-run against mother nature, doing some tumbling in the gym and navigating several mazes. It was a nice way to break myself back into raiding, but some areas should have had more attention before the release." - SSJ6Wolf (24-Dec-2014)
