Reviewer's comments
"Here we have another attemp to build a level following the tutorial from the official manual. Not bad, but the unmarked climbable ladders ruined the gameplay. Nothing special or interesting things added. Many rooms are pretty dark and I never found enough flares to light my way. Well placed enemies, no secrets to find, no cameras or flybys except some fixed cameras; there are many defects in the small texture surfaces and many rooms are very dark. Good attemp, but no interesting for me. Sorry." - Jose (17-Dec-2017)
"This is a close-knit remake of the original Tutorial layout, complete with the statue room and the rolling boulder room. There's a few unmarked ladders, plus a short maze, but it's otherwise pretty mundane." - Ryan (05-Dec-2017)
"This is basically Tut1 with a bit of a tweak here and there. There's the addition of a small maze and a simple push puzzle, but mainly it's familiar fare with nothing much to recommend a look." - Jay (05-Aug-2016)
"There are far worse debut levels than this on the Level Index, but there can't be very many players who would want to replay the hoary old Tut1 Tutorial yet again, particularly when the only additions are weak ones (untextured climbable walls which were nevertheless obvious by their gameplay importance;a plethora of easily killable scorpions;an unclear pushable object puzzle);and the texturing is often ragged. At least the construction is generally solid and inoffensive, and it provides 20 harmless minutes for the completists out there." - Orbit Dream (14-May-2013)
"We can be grateful that only a few builders have released their first attempt at level building when redoing the tutorial project. This one is a replica of this tutorial level with only a few changes, and obscure climbable walls in the second part. Not worthy that you waste your time on that one." - eRIC (11-Jan-2009)
"Ever wanted to play a Tut1-WAD level in a true Tut1 environment? If yes, then this is the level you should go for. Most of the rooms draw from the original but they've all been changed and visually, there was a great loss as now the textures are either repetitive or misapplied (stretched). You collect a lot of items, too, and the pushable puzzle in the end was somewhat obscure, but rather easy when you realize the one different pattern in the middle of the other blocks. 15 minutes, 1 secret. 08/07" - Treeble (12-Aug-2007)
"At first I thought this level would be another copied tutorial level but it was to prove me wrong. There are a few elements from the original tutorial level (like room structure) but there were a few new puzzles to crack and it uses the Cleopatra texture set. This level will provide you with a good 20 minutes of enjoyment worth downloading." - Lil Kid (28-Oct-2002)
"You're right of course over large parts this is just a faithful copy of the tutorial wad as it is provided by the Level Editor and the new areas tend to have stretched textures but I enjoyed the 20 minutes I spent here all the same. You get far too many medi packs and all the weapons you don't need while the many scorpions never pose a threat. My favourite bit comes in the room where you place the Eye of Horus. To open the final gate you have to push one of the statues on a special tile all the while two mummies are attacking you (No I never found the crossbow). Thing is when you push the statue the mummies somehow don't realise that you're moving along and happily punch the air at the spot where Lara started pushing. Or when she drags the object the mummies beat on the statue which looks pretty hilarious." - Dimpfelmoser (18-Sep-2002)
"What can I say other than this is a retextured and slightly remodeled tutorial level which I wasn't so surprised at going by the name. That is obviously the reason I have given this such low scores but I assume this is Nadia's first attempt at using the Editor so I expect that any future works should show more originality and be much worthier to play." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"This is quite an obvious first attempt at level building following the advice of the manual to rebuild and expand the tutorial level. It offers a little above 15 minutes of gameplay with only a few modifications in the texturing and object placement many more scorpions than in the original and unfortunately some of the climbing walls are not textured as such." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"Well I don't understand the low scores here as this is a pretty damn good first attempt. Maybe not being an author and having played with the tutorial wad 100 times makes this a better experience for me but I liked it simple as it was. Except for the last door past the eyepiece door that one took almost as long as the level proper to figure out how to get open LOL. Bloody frustrating." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"It's Nadia's first attempt to build a level I think. And she did well! Ok it's just one of those boring "Tutorial Level Remakes" with nothing else than a few more rooms with simple puzzles and traps. But maybe Nadia's next levels can be much better. Playing this level I think you'll agree it's a good first level." - Leandro (21-Jun-2002)
"It looks like she can follow instructions assembling a level. I believe this to be a waste of bandwidth." - Scott (21-Jun-2002)
"The first three rooms here are pretty much just remakes of the first three rooms of the tutorial level (as she says in the read me that comes with the download). After that I thought she did a great job of branching out and making the rest of the level her own. Your objective is to find the two eyepieces while fighting some ninjas scorpions and facing some deadly traps. I found one secret some good pickups scattered around and had a good time getting to the door to use the two eyepieces. It took me a while to figure out how to open the next door but after that there's not much left of the level. I had a good time." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"As a first level from Nadia it is a very good one. I have seen much worse so: very well done Nadia. It starts the same as in the tutorial level and then expanded on it. Your objective is finding the 2 eyepieces and open some doors. There is even a dud thrown in for good measure. Enemies are ninjas some mummies and scorpions Gameplay is simple but I didn't expect much as a first try. 19-05-2002" - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"This is just the tutorial level with a couple of new rooms and changes. The texturing is a little different too. This level isn't that good but it's okay for a first try. What I didn't like was the huge amount of pickups (it can't be good for Lara to bend down that many times in such a short level!)." - Magnus (21-Jun-2002)
"What if I told you that I liked this one better than the original? It isn't so dark in fact the lighting is good and the textures are great. It is a replica not quite though some parts are changed and a little green makes the environment pleasant. It has some climbable surfaces that are nicely combined with the walls but also it has a lot of pick ups not necessary because the mummies and baddies are not much of a threat scorpions a lot of them are there too. The title says it all like the original one you do have to get the Eye of Horus and end the level. As for guns the grenade gun shotgun and crossbow I didn't find a revolver. It was really fun although it didn't last long." - Kristina (21-Jun-2002)
