Reviewer's comments
"Great setting here in the icy wilderness, with plentiful use of a snow mobile once you find a key to lower the bridge, The level offers a couple of areas that are very reminiscent of the TR2 level Tibetan foothills but its mostly lots of new large areas and different places to explore. Gameplay is heavy on enemies, tricky platforming, exploring for items for progression and of course fun snowmobile maneuvering and jumps! with the occasional trap to add some adrenaline moments. The aspects missing for me was puzzles and timed runs but yes this level is certainly worth checking out just for all the snow mobile action!" - John (03-Apr-2023)
"A good mountain level with unusual proportions of bike vs pedestrian gameplay. A bit oversized so I spent an hour looking for THAT hole, but once I found it everything whooshed smoothly. A rare case when gameplay is better than looks. The final part was very strong. Advice to the builder to keep this quality everywhere else, because if it happens, we will see a new hall of famer. Recommended." - DJ Full (27-Jul-2022)
"The level was big and I can see the effort that was into it, The story was nice and the level itself was good and related to the storyline, tbh never was a fan of the snowmobile but it can be a snow level without a snowmobile, I hated some jumpes specially when your to cross around that pit and it was impossible to jump over ir because it was so big, I had to save after every jump, I really hate the snowmobile, and if you like me, let me tell you that you need the snowmobile to the end of level, it's your partner on this level. I really can't complain about the enemies objects and secret even tho I only got the jade dragon, the level was too long it took me over an hour - without death time counted- so I didn't bother looking for the other secrets since it was there so many places and pits to look into. My overall rate of this level is 7/10" - p1kaa (06-Sep-2020)
"Hey, what a cool level. I was pleasantly surprised especially since I try not to check the scores before playing levels to make it more exciting. Gameplay is solid and full of action, surroudings are crafted in a realistic way (love the little village with the well) and also accompanied with the lovely atmospheric cold wind sounds, and balance of enemies and pickups are balanced very well so it is challenging without being overly hard. The tasks are quite logical as well, with the main objective being forming paths for the snowmobile so you can escape with it and have a fun ending that is quite similar to action movies. Recommended for everyone, if you like snowy levels you will love it even more. Looking forward to next levels of the designer, if he wishes to make them!" - Nomad (23-Feb-2020)
"This was a refreshing and soothing snowy-level, which sadly doesn't offer much puzzles. It was rather a shooter, combined with all the climbing and key collecting stuff. That new feature that enables the player to see further has been around for a while now, but this level is the best example so far, showing that with an overwhelming big area at the start. We have an amazing snowmobile course, along with some tasks that we have to solve afoot. Somehow the atmosphere in the level was very calm, but became thrilling at the same time with all the fighting and snowmobile action. I would recommend to play this one if you're looking for a relaxing tibetan Foothills-kind of level, you won't be disappointed. These TR2-level builders releasing in the past couple of years really don't disappoint at all, I love their work! Oh and btw: in fact, I AM part of the 5% of people, who did read your readme- file LMAO." - Nuri (15-Jan-2020)
"A solid TR2 inspired level by this author. Textures and sounds are all accurate, including the ring menu. However, the pacing of the level could have been slightly better. I only found the way to go by accident, the snowy ditch was completely hidden and hard to find. Before I did, I explored the lake, found a secret and even a way across the chasm without raising the bridge, but couldn´t find a way to get down to the rocks above water level. Once I got on the snowmobile and explored the rest of the level, it was quite fun. Author has created large vistas, hindered only by the game´s low drawing distance. If it weren´t for the problems with the unclear means of progress at the beginning, I would have scored it higher, but still, it´s an enjoyable level once you get going." - Raina Audron (05-Jan-2020)
"Very well designed, Excellent use of the snow mobile. Congrats TheWolf" - JoeTheCrazyGamer (29-Dec-2019)
"I do not like playing tr2 anymore, but this one excited me with this epic snowmobile race. Many enemies but with all the weapons recovered, we manage to eliminate them. Good texturing and tr2 construction. Excellent." - Drakan (20-Oct-2019)
"A short but sweet level with lots of action and places to explore. The atmosphere was stellar. Objects complimented the environment, especially the well-- that was beautiful. The snowmobile parts were very fun and expanded on what little we got to do in TR2. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a bit more of Tibet adventure (but this time, in Russia)." - dragooncroft (05-Oct-2019)
"This was the most fun I have had in Tibet since the original Tomb Raider 2 offering and this one is longer, harder and much more complex with an added bonus of a lengthy snow mobile ride that will have you reloading the game more times than not. I spent a good hour here and only had to refer to the walk through once right at the start so good level design. This is a tough level however with copious enemies that generally attack en masse and I found myself desperately seeking out med packs constantly and they are few and far between. On too many occasions did I find myself with a flashing health bar but it seemed unavoidable. Only found one secret right at the start. Loved it." - Torry (01-Oct-2019)
"With the extra rendering space provided by Arsunt's awesome patch, the very first thing you see upon loading this level is a massive outdoors area, and the windy background audio just adds that extra bit of layer (really, the only thing that was missing was falling snow, if only this were to be a TR3 level). I'll go on record and say I thought most of the level design was a tad overwhelming, with huge areas connecting into other huge areas with what seemed quite a few branching paths, but ultimately I reached the end on a single sitting without any sort of outside help. Otherwise, it's a somewhat standard Tibetan Foothills style level (maybe make that "on steroids", as the snowmobile section is a tad longer), but a rather engaging one. 55 minutes, 1 secret. 09/19" - Treeble (29-Sep-2019)
"A good mix of exploration, combat, and snowmobile action. I would have liked to see some more puzzles besides the one pushblock moment. Plenty of enemies are ready to fight, which is good except there should be just a few more medpacks to help the player stay alive, especially since the snowmobile is prone to dealing damage to Lara on rough terrain. The lighting is pretty dynamic, and texturing is good overall but they get a bit wallpapered and stretched in certain caves. I appreciated the camera shots used during certain dramatic moments. Not sure why I never heard music, and I didn't see any note regarding that in the readme. A nice TR2 raid overall. 57 minutes." - JesseG (08-Sep-2019)
"Perhaps the best level from this author, enjoyable and with the same own style: a lot of exploration, no puzzles to solve and few objects to ornate the rooms. As usual, enough pickups to finish without problems and this time well balanced enemies. I missed some more musics and flybys, but there's a good atmosphere anyway. Almost all the entire level is based about finding a path for the snowmobile with some tricky jumps, but never too hard. The best: the architecture and texturization. Good job! Recommended." - Jose (08-Sep-2019)
"I guess this one has actually captured the TR2 original feeling and, even though that's not my favourite official game, I rather enjoyed this action-packed trip down memory lane. Having been offered what we've been offered throughout these years it becomes somewhat harder to really evaluate how well it's been crafted but it did seem quite well to me. So, as far as I can see it was very well designed and the atmosphere fits the original and the engine. Baddies all over (as one would expect) made me finish the level with just a tiny slice of health (quite satisfactorily too, I must add) but the main point is exploration and, most of all, a long and thrilling motorbike ride with excellent jumping sequences and a nice set of classic, well chosen traps and a few stops here and there. I couldn't find the PsxAnimBgndEnable file in my download but everything worked perfectly. Recommended." - Jorge22 (07-Sep-2019)
"This is a thoroughly entertaining and action-packed TR2 adventure through a location that is rarely explored within the custom level world: Tibet. I'm fond of this particular setting, although there is admittedly only so much you can do with snowmobile ride and henchmen attacks. Luckily, this level manages to make all that stuff enjoyable. There's no puzzles as such (and it got a bit too much of a shooter near the end for my liking), the gameplay mainly centering around exploration, but the pace generally never lets up and there's plenty to do. The gun battles are fast, frenetic and involving, secrets are very neatly (and at times elaborately) placed, while the snowmobile rides are one hell of an adrenaline rush, especially when combined with enemies and boulder traps). The Tibetan atmosphere and textures are well up to par with the original, and as a whole this is a well done classic adventure. Recommended." - Ryan (07-Sep-2019)
"Another solid retro offering from Wolf, this adventure should keep you entertained for around an hour or so. This level is a throwback to the Tibetan Foothills, but it offers its own unique challenges and scenery. The TRII engine is put through its paces, and the overall effect is polished and delightful. Wolf always does a decent job with texturing and lighting, given the engine's capabilities. With the exception of a few areas that require you to run, jump and climb around on things, this level is all about the snowmobiles. There's plenty of tricky action sequences with avalanches, boulders and deep crevasses to zip through. Plenty of uzi-toting goons to run over between rockslides, too. That is why you're here, right? :) This is a very combat heavy level. It almost feels like a shooter at times, with waves of enemies popping out of the woodwork and just enough supplies that you have to carefully ration the medipacks and ammo. Some of the combat segments are difficult, so it's worth it to dig around for the pickups and sniff out the 3 dragon secrets for the weaponry cache they add to Lara's inventory. Very pleased with the locations of the secrets! 2 of them were really out of the way, while the 3rd is hidden in plain sight. Enjoyed it, thanks for the adventure." - Chel (06-Sep-2019)
"I really enjoyed this 30 minute romp and the builder has gone a long way since his first releases two years ago. This game could've almost been a replacement of Tibetan Foothills and there are several stunning jump sequences with the snowmobile of which a few are quite challenging and took a few tries. Perhaps, at the end, there's almost too much of the good thing when maybe a bit more variety in terms of gameplay instead of another jump had been the better option IMO, like a few puzzles or timed runs, some areas also feel underused in a way that you only find a key or the like and then exit again. The start of the game was excellent, towards the end the whole thing did feel a bit like a shooter and less gameplay-oriented. Enemies are very well placed, as well as the three secrets and objects in general. Architecture is generally fine, and texturing and lighting are mostly well placed with the exception of the deep pits and a few other walls which felt a bit wallpapered, but nothing serious. The builder has used cameras and sounds very well to add to the excitement and atmosphere. Thus, while a bit too monothematic, this is certainly one of the best TR 2 Tibet adventures out there, if not the best - needless to say that this action-filled romp is well recommended." - manarch2 (03-Sep-2019)
"What a thoroughly enjoyable level! Old School TR adventures can often be tricky to pull off,but this one ticks pretty much every box.A timed run or two would perhaps not have gone amiss, and would have added a little more variety to what is otherwise a "run through every large area with guns in hand" adventure. Indeed, some of these areas (although beautifully laid out) have been designed simply to be negotiated and left behind. Nonetheless, the gameplay is rarely anything less than entertaining;and is never too difficult to accomplish, provided you have a good look around.Enemies are copious, but generally easy (and often fun) to deal with;while the extended action sequence with the red snowmobile is hugely entertaining (big jumps;baddies;snowballs - often all at once). Object placement is detailed enough, without being cluttered;while the atmosphere, sound and cameras are every bit as good as you'll find in the original TR2 Tibet levels.Secrets were so well hidden that I failed to locate any. Best of all are the textures (excellently placed)and lighting (evocative without being excessively dark);and the adrenaline-charged Finale, culminating in the most hilarious snowmobile stunt I've ever experienced (and subsequently replayed numerous times, for the enjoyment factor!) A really fun journey back to the Core Design era of the late 90's." - Orbit Dream (30-Aug-2019)
"An amazing level build with the TR2 engine that I had the honor of playing during its beta-testing. Thewolf has surely pushed himself to the limits with a level that, in the three times I played it, took me forty minutes on average to complete! It's fun, incredibly entertaining and very good looking! It's amazingly detailed - one of the reason why this game went inside a little of development hell - and insanely big for such an old engine, kind of reminded me of the huge hugeness of original Barkhang Monastery. Gameplay consists exploring the surroundings and riding the snowmobile, and it just feels satisfying! Timed sequences would have been cool too, but because of the problems thewolf ran into, it was impossible. Secrets were all pretty interesting and satisfying to take, I love when levels show you some of them behind bars or stuff like that and then you know you HAVE to take it! Atmosphere, as I said quite above, it's great! The textures and the lighting managed to bring a pretty neat looking scenery! It's obvious thewolf has made some big step ups since his previous adventures (the untold adventure to make an example), and I am very looking forward to see another adventure crafted by him. Are you nostalgic of TR2? Are you looking forward to a great adventure? GIVE it a try! AND REMEMBER TO READ THE README otherwise the experience might be poor! Wolfy Regards." - Wolf7 (30-Aug-2019)
