Reviewer's comments
"Young Lara's levels are not my favourite ones, but this one is not bad. Astraf is a good builder, but I think he could think about another kind of levels more pleasant for the players. In the starting area I missed the first key (of course I was in a hurry to escape the werewolf) so I was forced to search carefully all the first rooms looking for that damned key, of course without flares. Later, the werefolf magically disappeared (or got stucked somewhere?), so I only had to explore the next areas to find an exit. There are some nasty traps to avoid, and the secrets are not very hidden; the architecture and texturization is OK, but the final timed run was too tight for me so after several tries I had to abandone and this is the reason why I gave a 4 in the gameplay section." - Jose (07-Nov-2020)
"This is a short and adrenaline-filled level where you are most of the time escaping a werewolf, as the title of the level suggests. Environment has a similar visual style as the Ireland levels from TR chronicles and utilizes many textures and audio tracks from TR chronicles nicely. There are also several traps to avoid, some items and switches to find and a fairly long timed run in the end, which isn’t anything exceptional but managed to keep me entertained. Moreover, the fact that you are being chased by the werewolf while avoiding traps, adds an additional challenge to the level. In the readme file, author mentions that you should save your game before starting the timed run in the end, since you can activate the last timed door only once. You could easily make the timed door in such a way that it can be triggered infinite number of times, but this is not a big deal, since author mentioned about it in the readme file. All in all, I liked this level and it offers some nice action-packed gameplay for the player." - Samu (24-Oct-2020)
"Don't trigger the boulder or you lose cameras. And don't save if you fail the final timed run, because it only works once and you won't be able to repeat. Some switches also closed things instead of opening them so I guess I did something out of order. Eventually, I would tone down the blue tint because it's a bit overwhelming. Otherwise this is a short but incredibly sweet level - I loved how the parts were organized and transparency was used to show their alignment. Try it." - DJ Full (23-Oct-2020)
"This is categorically NOT a level for those in the mood for a stress-free raid;as right from the start you have a highly aggravating enemy almost perpetually on your heels and (being a Young Lara level) absolutely no way to kill him. You also have no flares, and very few opportunities to stop and stare. It's run run run, almost all the way. The trap usage is rather aggravating (especially the 'surprise' rolling boulder);and the timed run at the end will sort the men from the boys - especially as it's not even remotely clear where you're supposed to go. Technically, the level is very solidly constructed;with a decent atmosphere and good texturing. At the end of the day, though,Young Lara levels are really not my cup of tea;and I struggled throughout to find much enjoyment." - Orbit Dream (01-Oct-2020)
"And quite an escape it is, with that dratted monster on Lara's heels pretty much the entire way through the level. You do have the opportunity for brief moments of respite, but they are few and far between. Unfortunately I have to say that I found this raid to be a little on the underwhelming side and to have a surprisingly abrupt ending. Apart from evading the eponymous werewolf, the actual gameplay is a little lacking with the only highlights being a few less than challenging trap sequences and a timed sequence that erred in the side of "too tricky". It's certainly possible to overcome it in a few attempts, but the correct route to take is initially not that clear, which seemed a tad unfair. But on the positive side, the surroundings are atmospheric and I've always had a soft spot for the original Black Isle section. Overall though, I found it all a little insubstantial." - Ryan (29-Sep-2020)
"A brief visit to Ireland sees Young Lara mainly dashing past the titular werewolf (ahmet) whilst exploring tunnels. There’s a modicum of trap avoidance, but nothing too taxing until a lengthy timed run at the end, so save frequently on that one and don’t neglect the advice in the readme. I’m extremely fond of Black Isle levels for the wonderful ambience and sound files, but I would have appreciated more of the lovely outdoor scenery and less underground exploration, plus there are some objects that have obviously wandered in from other levels, which felt rather distracting. Overall though, it’s a pleasant raid." - Jay (28-Sep-2020)
"Yes, the level is brief (the glitch-free video covers it all in a bit less than 13 minutes), but brevity is not necessarily synonymous with poorness of quality. The eponymous werewolf (the only enemy you encounter) is on the attack from the starting gate, but there are several areas during the course of your adventure where he can't follow, providing some much-needed respite. The surroundings are dark but atmospheric, and I never had any trouble finding my way. The highlight of the level in my opinion is that marathon timed run at the end, and it's quite tight. There are several points along the way where it's easy to stumble and lose precious milliseconds, but even after I saved in a different slot after getting past each such trouble spot, I tried numerous times before finally making it through the timed gate. If the builder decides to release an update, I suggest that he make it possible to jump across the lake on the way back rather than forcing the player to swim across and pull up. Doing so would make the timed run more accessible to more players. All in all, not a bad raid by any means." - Phil (28-Sep-2020)
"This is the second Young Lara mini-level from this author in few months and, putting them together, it's still a short raiding. This builder is talented but he should be more ambitious than this. There's nothing wrong in this level but it seems to be the trailing part of a game still to be done. There's no need to write long reviews for short levels. That's all." - Teone (27-Sep-2020)
