Reviewer's comments
"So, in this dark 'palace' you have to climb up and up till you can't anymore, while facing lots of skeletons in your way. The final platform isn't accesible so you have to fly to get there. And by the way you only find one trident, and not three as the the title says. You can't use it and there's no finish trigger. I kinda liked the greenish lighting but there's not anything impressive here." - alan (18-Feb-2018)
"Not really a palace, but only a series of stacked rooms with skeletons. I was climbing and climbing to the very top but I couldn't reach the last floating platform so I checked the walkthrough and saw that DJ needed to cheat to get the trident at its top so immediately exit the level. It seems that the author thought about build a bigger level but for some reason it was unfinished. That way I think this part should never be released." - Jose (15-Nov-2017)
"This level begins with an (at least in my game) endlessly looping flyby and things don't improve from there. Persistent wraiths and skeletons, the need to DOZY to make much progress and only one of three tridents. Unless you are a completist and/or reviewer. Stay away." - Ryan (06-Dec-2016)
"This is utterly dire. Nobody other than reviewers with a touch of OCD should go anywhere near it. You have been warned! Oh OK then, if you want to blow up a few skellies and find yourself unable to finish the game, even if you cheat, then go ahead." - Jay (16-Jan-2016)
"As is alluded to in the level description for this release, our main goal is to scour this unnecessarily massive and completely empty Egyptian tomb for three tridents that will in some way help, with undead skeletons and wraiths serving as the major irritating hindrances to your progression. Unfortunately however, the builder clearly released this one without any proper testing beforehand, ultimately leaving you trapped with no way out and with only one actual trident available for potential players to collect, making the game(in its current state), unwinnable. So, if you don't want to feel like wasting your time exploring this tediously- designed mess for nothing, best to ignore this one and try out something else of much higher quality on the site." - Ceamonks890 (25-Nov-2014)
"Yet another pointless level in my 'mopping up' quest.Although not badly constructed, this 'get up to the top of a huge room' concept has been done considerably better elsewhere (modesty prevents me from naming any particular author);but it's imperfect in this instance,as you need to DOZY to get to the uppermost platform. Some explodable skeletons and impregnable wraiths (which eventually get bored chasing you anyway)spice things up a little;but it's very clear that there is more to this level than we get to see,as only one Trident was available to pick up;and there was a closed underwater door with an obvious corridor behind it.For all I know there could be a heap of unexplored areas behind it;but,as the builder clearly never tested the level himself, none of us will ever find out. One more level for diligent reviewers only." - Orbit Dream (20-Jan-2014)
"The title of this short level makes you expect a lot more game play than there really is, as all we got here is a short swim to pick up some weapons followed by some platform climbing. There are several skeletons, which can be blasted away with the grade gun or blown of the ledges with the shotgun. Lara encountered multiple wraiths and they are a bit of a pain to get rid off. I ended the level before the final ledge, since there was no legal way to get up there. The green spooky lightning and the texturing looked quite nice; the atmosphere wasn't too bad either. It's a shame that the game play fell short. Play it if you looking for something easy and short during lunch break. (10 min, 0 secrets)" - Blue43 (22-May-2011)
"Not enough flares as for so dark lighting - I kept firing pistols to make things brighter in search for non-existing pickups that might have been hidden in darkness. So the game took me 15 minutes, including at about 10 wasted. Textures - there were at about 5 of them but it doesn't matter, as all of them looks similarly in this ambience. Fighting skeletons coming out of the gloom was the only one good thing. SUMMARY: To me, it's the worst game I've played recently. "Go up and fight." Repeat this 6 more times and you have a full image of this level." - DJ Full (23-Nov-2010)
"Those who like platforming will enjoy this level, as it features a lot of catwalks (and incountable skeletons, but you can get the grenade launcher underwater within 30 seconds into the game). Then, when you see you can climb no further, you can DOZY to the top area and get the first trident. Though the question remains, where have the other two gone? 5 minutes. 01/07" - Treeble (31-Jan-2007)
"After I played for a few minutes and found the Trident I thought I am missing something to open the underwater door. I checked the Stuck in a Custom Level forum and read that there is a bug - pity to quit so soon..." - Yoav (14-May-2004)
"Released in March 2001 and still no revised version tsk tsk. Maybe this is Stripix' kind of joke to make that one trident unreachable. How do I know if there is a trident of course I used the fly cheat to have look. The best thing in this level is to try and take a dive from that last platform into the water hahahahaha 30-12-2002" - Gerty (06-Jan-2003)
"I didn't finish this level not because of its difficulty but because there was nothing else to do except picking up a trident. I am guessing that the certain action should have triggered the underwater door to open but it didn't so what we have is wraiths that can't be extinguished because the eagle statues are not properly placed it seems that they are two pieces not combined well. A lot of skeletons which you can blast with the grenade gun but there are too many and not enough ammo. Unfortunately one more level not tested." - Kristina (03-Dec-2002)
"This seems like a demo really. It's just one big multi levered room with a trident at the unreachable top and a door that stays closed at the bottom. You find the grenade launcher and meet some skeletons but as there is nothing to do on your way up to the top of the room you can just jump past them. Somewhere along the way you come across some bird statues and shortly afterwards a wraith attacks so you dutifully crouch near the statue and wait for the wraith to explode which he does but for everyone that explodes a new one pop up from somewhere. After 30 of them had perished over Lara's she got bored with it stood up to explore further and the elementals mysteriously vanished. The big room itself is done very well despite some stretched textures but one single room with not much to do in it can't be considered as a proper level." - Dimpfelmoser (18-Oct-2002)
"Well this palace was two tridents short of a level full. From the ridiculously dizzying initial flyby to the impossible leap to the final platform in the tall room being chased by wraiths with more lives than an alley cat the level fails on all counts. There is no way to get to the trident the wraiths will not die as the eagle statues are incomplete the underwater door fails to open and I as my fellow reviewers before me was simply unable to continue. Then just to add the final insult the game also crashes to the desktop. Don't bother folks." - Torry (01-Oct-2002)
"I don't usually review a level unless I have finished it but it seems nobody else can finish it either so I assume there may be a bug in it. The entire game play is spent in one huge multi-layered room with walkways everywhere and a large pool of water at the bottom the problem is you can climb to the second last platform from the top but the last with a trident sitting on it is unreachable without cheating and in the pool there is a door that seems to have no trigger so progress it halted. It's a shame that the level is basically unplayable because the atmosphere and lighting is perfect and the enemies skeletons and ghosts are placed well. Hopefully one day I will be able to play this level all the way through but as it is the level is quite a let down." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"Maybe it is just me but I did not quite find the end of this level. The atmosphere with a multi-layered and quite moody interior that you can climb up and around the skeletons you can blast away with grenades and the wraiths in the upper part provide a few minutes of fun but I never managed to get up to the top level and the first trident without cheating and certainly did not find the other two tridents which the level name seems to suggest should be there. So as I may have missed something you better try it for yourself and if find anything more then please send me an eMail." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"From a very promising start, this level just seems to reach a dead end ... such a shame. Ascending various platforms through a vast room, Lara encounters skeletons and ghosts. Save your ammo though as there's none to be found, and you'll need the grenades on the upper levels. The ghosts don't seem to be killed by the one complete icon thing, and when you get to the top, there's nowhere else to go. There's a closed door in the pool at the bottom but it doesn't open. As I say, a shame it seems incompletable as what's there is good." - David (21-Jun-2002)
"In this level you find yourself in a large tall room made up of many different levels presumably to make your way to the top. Along the way you'll be confronted by many skeletons and very little ammo. I never made it to the top though a few levels up I ran into a large number of wraiths and could find nothing to do about them. I found the bird statue actually there were a few but none of them did anything to help. I never found any tridents and after I got to a certain height found that I could no longer even climb any higher. With a lot of work this level has some possibilities but as it is it's not worth playing." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"I don't know if this level is only a demo or if it has a bug or what. As the title suggests I think you have to find 3 tridents in those catacombs and you can see one trident at the top of the very huge and high room with many floors you have to climb attacked by a horde of skeletons (do not forget the grenade gun) and spirits. There is only one place where you can get rid of the spirits behind one the statues surrounded by spikes they do not explode but they will not follow Lara so I left them alone and moved on climbing to the upper levels. Unfortunately the highest floor is too high and Lara said: I'm sure that picking up this trident will trigger the opening of the underwater door but how can I go there?" - eRIC (21-Jun-2002)
