Reviewer's comments
"Another average adventure here, although enjoyed the whole plot, despite being told that the plot is funny and doesn't make any sense. I managed to finish this within 10 minutes and I have to say that it was a nice Cleopatra's level, which if you are interested, should definitely give it a try. Thanks!" - Mehrbod (08-Jul-2019)
"I thought the look of this level was very pleasing and the pool rooms had a certain calmness to them (at least until the enemies appeared). It's a shame that the gameplay doesn't match up to the visuals so well. It's not that it's tedious, but there's no real puzzles or much variation in the tasks you have to complete. There's just a few simple gymnastics and a few artefacts to (easily) locate. The only enemies are a couple of harpies and demigods, but by this time you should have found enough ammunition to dispose of them without much trouble. Not bad, but nothing exciting either." - Ryan (06-Nov-2018)
"This is a colorful, good-looking level, and I'm a sucker for colorful, good-looking levels. Just for fun, I tried it on my own to see how far I could get, and it wasn't long before I found myself resorting to Harry Laudie's walkthrough. I missed the part about shifting over to the unmarked ladder near the beginning, I missed the stockpile of goodies on the way back and had to replay that section, and I had no idea what to do in that final room to bring it all to an end. With all that I spent about 25 minutes here, which is a short raid by anyone's standards. There are no enemies until near the end, but by that time you have sufficient armament (provided you were playing with your eyes open) to deal with them. Not a classic, not even memorable, but an example of why Tomb Raider has endured and thrived over the years." - Phil (06-Aug-2018)
"Short raid in an egyptian setting where Lara is looking for her golden clone. There is some backtracking to go to different doors. There is a quite hard battle with 2 demigods in the end, as I only had the shotgun and pistols. Some spike traps, bugs and deadly water to avoid, killing harpies, finding puzzle items. I liked the final area with water, a fountain and plants." - alan (17-Oct-2017)
"Nice but quite short level from year 2001. I liked textures and lighting. Atmosphere and cameras are good. Puzzles are quite easy so this level is for beginners. Recommendable level for beginners." - vienna (22-Jun-2017)
"This short level certainly looks good, which is always a plus point, but the gameplay is a bit repetitive and not much of a challenge in any respect. There aren't many enemies to deal with - a couple of harpies and demigods and some beetles to run away from - no puzzles and just a bit of swimming, climbing and monkey swinging. I think it's another one to file in the 'blameless but boring' section." - Jay (16-May-2015)
"This small level is well builded, good lightened and textured, but as usual the rooms are empty of objects and there are not puzzles. A couple of harpies, some scarabs and a couple of demigods; several jumpswitches to pull and a couple of artifacts to use. That's all. In the pool room with the shotgun, could be a hint so the players go to the left doors and they don't waste the time with trials and errors with the other closed doors. There's a good atmosphere but a tedious gameplay." - Jose (28-Apr-2015)
"Level with rather easy and short gameplay. I didn't like part with climbing when you had to come back every time past that pool room. Textures are rather okay but they didn't impress me much. All in all it's nice shortie for around 15 min play." - Casual Raider (30-Jul-2013)
"A great little level a rejig of the original playable tutorial level. We've seen all these textures but they are used very well here. There was an unnecessary long flyby halfway through but the final flyby when Lara reaches the golden version of herself is great. Not that many things to do really mainly climbing and monkey swinging and enemies are golden harpies beetles and demigods." - CC (12-May-2003)
"With a title like that I was expecting a much larger level but nonetheless this is an extremely good little adventure. The gameplay has been well thought out and many of the puzzle elements are quite original. The flybys are well handled the pace is fast and (although not an all time classic) this will keep you happily entertained for around 25 minutes. Great fun." - Orbit Dream (07-Mar-2003)
"This is built with the cleopal WAD so one can imagine what it looks like. There are some bugs with the textures but nothing major. You get to monkey swing a lot to reach each one of the three double doors and enter a new area. The pharos pillar and the portal guardian are the necessary items to find what you're looking for. After some annoying beetles a few switches and killing two demigods you find the golden Lara and the level finishes with the flyby showing you the room. As simple as that." - Kristina (20-Dec-2002)
"Well this was over pretty quick but nevertheless fun. Finding the knot was easy but to get the Portal Guardian is another story. Went for the wrong doors with the monkey climb and was a bit stumped but the doors opened at last and Lara was on her way. Some nice jumping and finding jump levers and after that you will encounter the enemies some of the fiercest ones and then there is a nice fly by when Lara is standing next to the Golden Lara 30-11-2002" - Gerty (01-Dec-2002)
"This was a very pleasing 20 minute level made with the Cleo wad and nicely done. Although very straightforward and an immense amount of climbing and monkeyswinging the level was still fun to play. Some decent sliding over spikes traps. Lots of jumpswitches and a large amount of ammo to be picked up. You will face the dreaded scarabs a couple of banshees and 2 demigods in your quest to find the stolen golden Lara." - Momster (13-Aug-2002)
"A pity that this is so short and comes in the cleo wad which isn't my favourite. The first half is completley enemy free and I think we could have done with a couple of skeletons here. Otherwise it's a nice little gem of a level with beautifully textured rooms and a nice variety of things to do and the fly by that brings you to the finishing trigger is very nice. I don't know what else there is to say. Go there and look for yourself. You won't regeret it." - Dimpfelmoser (11-Aug-2002)
"There are three main rooms that emanate from a central starting point in the first room Lara gets to use some of her special moves perfectly monkey swinging has never been executed more purposefully or on such a beautiful organic wooden structure be sure to explore this room as I having just replayed this level came across a well hidden secret that had eluded my clutches the first time through after this room the last two don't hold that much but some very mean enemies and of course the much sought after Golden Lara there are a couple of camera fly bys one midway through the level that was a little slow in spots and one that ends the level texturally this has a very well put together look and in some places it is just lovely." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"Rather standard Cleopal level with a nice sliding jump sequence and one very long but well designed flyby. Quite a bit of monkey swinging and climbing to do and I found one secret on the roof of the big water room. After 20 minutes two banshees beetles and two demigods it quickly ends when you find the Golden Lara." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"Well I liked this level. Had to play it twice before I managed to get through it as the first time I ran out of health. Lara's trickier moves are used to good advantage here and the textures are stunning." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"As the name says Lara is in a quest for a golden Lara. The 20 minutes adventure will give you a lot of fun. The level is set in the lower chambers of Cleopatra's Palaces and there are two rooms that visually were gorgeous. One of them was where Lara got the Ornate Handle and the other was the final room. Textures were well applied but the lighting was simple." - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"A simple little runaround with few major puzzles but a tricky-ish battle at the end. There are no real enemies here just some scarab beetles and two baddies at the conclusion but the textures are nice and the ideas sound." - David (21-Jun-2002)
"Although you won't find many difficult puzzles here you will get to use some of Lara's trickier moves with some interesting jumps some performed with beetles nipping at your heels. I like the textures used - the rooms were quite nice to look at and the lighting was just perfect. I found one secret in a very interesting place that would be easy to overlook though I wish there had been a few more pickups for the baddies at the end of the level. Overall an interesting and clever though short level." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"Obviously Lara didn't care what happened to her in Tomb Raider 4 since she decided to go back to Egypt to get the golden statue. I don't know what she wanted it for though it's not like she could sell it to get money. If she had had it in Tomb Raider 2 when the enemies came into her house and they had found it she would have had big problems since the statue is like a voodoo-doll. Oh that's right this is supposed to be a review of the level! Well it's short (ten minutes) but still quite enjoyable. The texturing is nice but don't expect anything spectacular. The gameplay is easy and the level is very linear. There aren't many enemies and I didn't care to waste time killing them. Overall a quite fun level but nothing special." - Magnus (21-Jun-2002)
