Reviewer's comments
"Short level (12 minutes) with the Coastal ruins atmosphere with the addition of the soft wind loop, the gameplay is simple and progression straightforward, once inside the tower the climbing to the top is quickly done. The construction is not without a few imperfections , stretched structures and strange placement for some objects. Enemies pose no great threat here. The camera work is good. What i liked the most here is the hint for the 5 gems (and 4 skeletons). Can't raid too high given the format, but i reasonably enjoyed the short time spent here." - eRIC (16-May-2022)
"This level has not any hard tasks, only some trial and error sequences, jumps and artefact finding. The grenade gun is there to help you kill the skeletons, pigs and crocodiles. Textures are well placed, atmosphere and sound are too. The only secret was easy enough. So, a brief coastal level (10 or 15 minutes) for beginners or if you feel like to play an easy level." - alan (23-Apr-2018)
"A coastal level is a generally pleasant experience for me and this admittedly fledgling attempt is still quite charming. The scenery isn't as attractive as usual, and there were a couple of non-endearing trial and error sequences, but at least you find enough ammo to dispose of the skeletons, and the lone flyby sequence was well executed. A good one for a beginning raider." - Ryan (23-Jan-2018)
"A brief 15 minute (or quite a bit less if you spare the crocodiles) visit to the always pleasant coastal areas. OK, this may not be the best made level in the genre, but it's not the worst either and I always appreciate those soothing sound files. Kill a load of crocodiles, blow up several skeletons and explore inside the tower, picking up the odd artefact along the way. Positively therapeutic, easy gameplay for your coffee break." - Jay (20-Mar-2016)
"If you are a novice playing custom levels, this is your level. Very easy to play with no hard tasks, some enemies to shoot, some items to collect and place, some jumps and climbs and only a puzzle in the boulders room. Only a "but": no hint to choose the safe gem near the top of the tower, I did it by trial and error. Very short level but playable." - Jose (20-Nov-2015)
"For a debut, this brief trek up through a tower filled with enemies and traps that could potentially be around any corner for your latest artifact of the week, was surprisingly quite fun. Enemies, objects and ambiance choices fit about as well as you'd expect and despite some rather flat lighting and odd cases of bad texturing in certain areas, managed to convey a convincing atmosphere on the whole. Worth a look if you're bored and looking for something entertaining to play for a couple of minutes." - Ceamonks890 (18-Jul-2015)
"I found this short level quite fun. There were some flaws like some stretched textures or repeated textures but the gameplay was nice. The textures were from the coastal map and I think the auther made a good tower out of it. Enemies were crocodiles and skeletens. Pickups were crystals and other puzzle items. The lighting was not the best outside but it was good inside. Objects were placed nicely and it was a short level but I enjoyed it." - afzalmiah (19-Apr-2011)
"This tower should have built Nebukadnezar? I cannot believe it, as puny as he is. And if the architect had been sloppy really thus with the textures, it would be received to him certainly bad. After one has done a few crocodiles, one can get the Horsemen-Gem. Then it goes on to the happy tower ascent. However, it lasts only about 10 minutes, then one is already on the top. And, however, one was not happily, but rather bored. Both skeletons were immediately dispatched with the grenade launcher and two wild boars are fast provision for later adventures. Result: One can play it, but it must not" - Scottie (06-May-2009)
"Yes! A level that I could do ... as a very new TR player ... without really getting into too much hot water. (or crocodiles tums spikes or skellies clutches for that matter!) I enjoyed the initial flyby showing a glimpse of what was to come and definitely inspiring me to carry on into the game. 'Deading' the crocodiles with pistols the piggy warthogs and the skellies with the grenade gun caused me intense satisfaction. I can see that an experienced raider may find this level easy ... but I can't see anything wrong with that! If you have a few minutes to spare (or in my case a few hours) do have a try at this fun level." - Mrs rjb (23-Dec-2004)
"Considering that this is the first level of the author is a very good one. Although this is a bit short and too easy it was a good adventure. I found only one Secret on the level. Your objective is to collect 2 Horseman's Gems a Portal Guardian and a Token for getting the Pharos Knot in the end. Interestingly if you don't use the Token an invisible rope appears which you can climb up. The enemies are crocs and skeletons but you can easily get over them with the Grenade Gun. The textures are great but unfortunately there are no added sounds. If you have 10 minutes take a try! :) You can find a Hungarian walkthrough (as we don't have English version) savegames and pictures here: http://www.freeweb.hu/treditor/12/tower_of_babylon.htm " - Obig (11-Jun-2004)
"Starting with a rather good flyby, this level really doesn't live up to its expectations. The texturing is quite good, even though there are a lot of stretched textures. The lighting is quite good, and it's nice to see a level (with lighting) that isn't too dark. The enemies are skeletons and crocodiles, both of which can be easily avoided. What I hated the most in this level were the"puzzles" where you had to use trial and error to succeed. There was also one secret, which was almost impossible to miss (that means that even I found it). The level takes between five and ten minutes to finish and it may be worth a look, if not just to dive from the top of the tower." - Magnus (29-Jan-2004)
"Another oldie I've played before but had forgotten about. The concept of the whole level is good but the 9 minutes spent here didn't keep me excited wanting for more as many other levels have. The textures are stretched lighting simplistic the tasks like getting the gem or guessing where to put your token in more trial and error alike and disposing of the skeletons isn't exciting as soon as you get the grenade launcher and that's practically at the start of the level where you meet the first one. The puzzle items you need are never far and the level doesn't challenge you much. Maybe it was a nice gem at the time released and I did think of it like that too the first time around when I played it but now it really is nothing special. Play it if you really want to see the tower." - eTux (06-Oct-2003)
"To my surprise this level lasted eight minutes. It has a coastal setting with a poll and many crocodiles skeletons later on but the grenade gun is available so no problem. There is a portal guardian two gems to get that will lead you to the roof you saw at the initial flyby and when Lara picks up the knot the level ends. Two secrets found and in my opinion the setting was wasted the author could have added some puzzles." - Kristina (16-Sep-2003)
"Very nice little level all of which consists of a the tower surrounded by a moat. Crocodiles in the moat skeletons and hogs in the tower picking up blue gems a coin and a mask. The aim obviously is to get to the top. You're path is strewn with traps all the way up. A very short level but I liked it." - CC (10-Apr-2003)
"What is it with those spikes killing Lara all the time? What is the fun of it? I understand that you do it maybe once but several times? Here in this level shown by the initial fly-by you need to get the Knot that is way up the building. In between there are some crocs and skeletons but you find the grenade gun so that should give Lara no headache. The level is luckily very bright a change from the gloom and doom lately. Game-play is very straight forward finding gems and the Effigi along the way. The room with the boulders was stunning. With a bit more effort this could be a great level. 18-09-2002" - Gerty (23-Sep-2002)
"The concept is rather good. Arriving at the tower and getting a fly by that moves straight to the top so you know what the goal of the adventure is. Sadly enough the actual climb only takes a few minutes and as you find the grenade launcher very early the only thrills are the trial and error pickups and slots. True there is a swim a monkey swing a rope and some jumps but that's not going to excite the expert raider. The setting is as costal as they come nothing extraordinary yet I like the room with the boulders at the ceiling. Oh well since this level is so short I guess the review doesn't have to be that long either." - Dimpfelmoser (11-Aug-2002)
"Well it has all been said before: the initial fly-by of the nicely crafted tower really raises the expectations which are then not quite met by the short 12 minute gameplay. On the way up you deal with some crocodiles and skeletons and a few not really serious traps and the bug with the invisible rope has also been mentioned before. The one secret is also kind of hard to miss. Anyway with a bit more work this could become a great level. As is it's just a short bit of fun. - Michael "A short 15 minute level easy but nicely done. Lara must first battle some crocs to find a blue gem and gain entrance to the tower where she is immediately confronted by a skeleton but the author thoughtfully placed a grenade gun handy. Very straightforward gameplay a few skeletons a couple of warthogs. No great thinking needed here just steadily do what needs to be done to get to the top of the tower and thus grab the knot and end the level. Very nicely done boulder ceiling. On your way up you need to find a token another gem and the portal guardian (which isn't needed to end the level). There are a couple of traps involved in using the token and picking up a gem but I won't be a spoiler." - Momster (16-Jul-2002)
"Set in a solitary tall tower surrounded by a crocodile infested moat this was simply a too easy level that took me just over 15 minutes to play. The aim here is to reach the top of the tower after making your way through quite a few floors though you don't spend more than a minute on each while collecting some key pick ups sometimes booby trapped and killing a few enemies with the grenade gun though this is no challenge. I have to say I did like the look of the tower with a special mention going to the room with the boulder lined ceiling but again there was so little time spent in each area that you never got time to fully take it in." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)

"This is a relatively short and simple level that will not tax the regular player. Time taken is around 10 to fifteen minutes." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"A short net gaming time is enough to complete this level. It's set in a tower where you have to climb up to find an amulet. It has cool textures and some impossible to preview traps! First you will lose health while finding the correct coin-up for the token and after you will die trying to get the right horseman's gem. That's why I recommend for saving a lot of times even if this level is easy!" - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"I played this level in less than 15 minutes. Why? Because the gameplay is linear with no surprise (apart maybe from the stone-covered ceiling?) and short. Some walls are paper-thin or not textured. One irritating thing is the spikes coming out of the ground with no warning! Ok I'm sorry to sound a bit harsh. I suppose this is the first attempt to build a level. And God knows it is not an easy task! So I shall encourage the author to put all his skill to do better next time. Just a last remark: The mummies give a rather comic effect to the game. If it was intended don't overuse them though!" - Jbc21 (21-Jun-2002)
"This is brilliant fun you must play this its fantastic! You have to climb to the top of a tower playing through various puzzles including a terrifying one involving boulders! One superb moment made me jump towards the end. It's the gameplay that stands out most in this level. It is fun all the way through just the right amount of enemies skeletons not over-used fun puzzles and exploration. The objective is to reach the top of the tower to collect an artifact. It is very simple and only lasts 10 minutes but I enjoyed myself playing this! Lighting is just right and suits the inside of the tower. The only secret is not very secretive shortening the level even more but still you need to play this!" - TrueRaider (21-Jun-2002)
"This is quite a short level and I expected it to be a lot harder. Overall it took about 10 minutes to complete. Nice ideas with the slot machines etc but the rope from the basket could be climbed before the token was deposited (it's just invisible!)." - David (21-Jun-2002)
"I was left wanting more when I finished this level. I did not do it in 17 minutes probably because I kept trying to find things but apparently I got everything. My only criticism is concerning the rope trick. It can be used without the token and you have to jump off the rope with your head below the ground level in order for it to work. I was quite satisfied with this level." - Scott (21-Jun-2002)
"This level started with a fantastic fly-by that frankly had me expecting more than was delivered. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the enemies were not too hard. The few puzzles in the level were not hard at all usually just a game of chance and the one secret I found was too easy to be considered a secret. This is great for a first level and fun if you're looking for a short easy level. I'm looking forward to seeing more levels from this creator." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"It was just great to play a level with normal light. There were some nice objects in this game like the mummy in the coffin. Every room has different textures the enemies were good to kill the flyby was great. Every room was different no repeating of same rooms the stone chamber is great and also the room with the 5 horseman's gems." - Henk (21-Jun-2002)
"I'm very late reviewing this level but anyway: Puzzles were either far too simple or too unfair. How is the player supposed to know which Diamond (e.g.) is resting on a safe square and which is not? And one spike trap descended from above! (The 'rope problem' has been mentioned quite enough). The enemies (mostly skeletons) are easily disposed of with the handily placed Grenade Launcher. Surely only providing a shotgun would have made the task of luring out the skeletons more challenging? The textures are fine but too often stretched (a simple fine-tuning would have easily resolved this). But the Tower itself is a beautiful piece of construction and simply gorgeous to look upon. And I couldn't resist (on reaching the roof) taking the plunge (literally) into the moat and playing the whole level over again!" - Orbit Dream (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a short easy level. Some skeletons and pigs are coming. The light is good and the textures too. But it is a little bit lonely nothing to do. But it's nice to play." - Andi Croft (21-Jun-2002)
