Reviewer's comments
"Short level where you must run through rooms collecting keys and killing some bats and ninjas. There's a short and good bike ride. There's also a room that has been copied from the author's previous level. And there wasn't a single ladder that had ladder textures, so that was a bit misleading." - alan (30-Apr-2023)
"This is a decent enough little level and was probably a breath of fresh air amongst so many regular Egyptian levels from 2001. Although the gameplay isn't particularly complex, the surroundings are pleasing if a tad sparse and repetitively textured with a mix of different texture sets including Scotland and It's a Madhouse. There's also an extremely simple maze and a short motorbike ride to round up this journey." - Ryan (23-Oct-2017)
"An okay level but it was harmed a lot by unmarked ladders. There are many and it is hard to tell where you can climb or not. Especially the ladder after you find the star is very obscure, if I had not (after a couple of them) tried to climb whenever I got stuck I would easily have missed it. Besides that issue, there is not much lighting work and a lot of paper-thin textures. In spite of these it still holds some kind of a charm. The starry underwater tunnels were done good for example so were the main center and the little land with water around it. Custom music is always welcome. Gameplay doesn't have much exciting stuff in it but it pleasantly flows and has over half an hour of playing time. Nothing really special but it is enjoyable." - Nomad (14-Oct-2016)
"I know there are scorpions in Florida and the crocodiles can stand in for alligators, but ninjas? Oh alright then I'll let that pass. This is a decent attempt to create the right atmosphere, which doesn't always work but at least looks fairly pleasant most of the time. The gameplay is simple but the various areas off the main hub come together well as the level progresses. If you're looking for something short (approximately 40 minutes) and not taxing in an older level that's a definite change from Egypt then you could do worse than this." - Jay (29-Sep-2016)
"Nothing interesting in this level: get some artifacts to open doors, shoot some enemies, enough extra guns and ammo, a ride with the bike and few traps. At least there is no much backtracking. Flybys without musics, simple architecture and, except the big flower in the floor, the texturization is often bad, monotonous, the same texture tile applied in big surfaces and with a lot of missing textures. The worst were the numerous unmarked ladders. Playable but not very enjoyable." - Jose (06-Mar-2016)
"What to say about this level? The decor is rather banal and lacks effects of lighting to be nice really to visit. The gameplay is rather simple but some elements what does not seem to be used what complicates research a bit (Doors which never open and a container for star which did not serve me). OK, it remains that it occupies a small instant and the end in motorbike allows to end mildly." - Daffy (17-Aug-2009)
"This was a nice, cozy little village. You end up entering every building after the next lever or puzzle piece to proceed, and it's always very linear and straightforward so you never get to think too much about your next move. The crumbling ceiling and the mechanical scarab bit were nice touches, there are a number of problems though. The end of the world is reachable or visible most of the time, you have a number of unmarked climbable walls, there are some untextured spots, including water, and several wafer thin walls along the way. The double doors by the bike also open up the wrong way. 30 minutes, 1 secret. 04/08" - Treeble (06-Apr-2008)
"This level has a lot of green for sure but doesn't have much to do. The main goal is to get the mechanical scarab and kill some dogs bats ninjas that come in your way. It was longer than I expected about forty minutes or so with a few jumps to perform. A little back track is required but it's not too bad. The one secret I found was like the others the winding key. The textures are very well placed and the areas are rather big and empty. A fun level no doubt just don't expect too much out of it." - Kristina (03-Sep-2003)
"Not the Florida that we come to know and hate from grainy photos depicting rich and famous Germans in the garden of their mansions. Thank God for that; or more to the point thank Nadia for that! You get a great plot around a central area with buildings and doors aplenty. You have to move back and fourth to get all those tasks done and in the process you come across some real surprises like the motorbike or the lagoon. The gameplay is very entertaining if not that demanding alas the atmosphere suffers from the carelessly applied textures and a distinctive lack of an overall concept. The grenade launcher and crossbow with powerful ammo seem a bit wasted on the two mummies. Oh dear when I think of all the times I wished I had some explosives and had to do without. I was surprised to see that I've spend 43 minutes in Florida when I reached the finishing trigger as this is so fast paced I lost all sense of time and that can't be bad can it?!" - Dimpelmoser (14-Aug-2002)
"I liked this level! A fun adventure with lots to do and explore. The basic layout is supposed to be the historic city of St. Augustine Florida and although it's a stretch a good job was done. Of course having been there it was more of a stretch for me but if I can live with it hey - you can too! A good job is done in the city area with lots of places to explore and closed doors you need to figure out how to open. I will admit to riding around and around on that motorcycle until finally reading the reviews and taking Torry's advice. Up until then I had 50 minutes invested and afterwards another 5 minutes and I was done. There are some climbing sequences and swimming with crocodiles to make pickups. There is a swinging chain trap that didn't really pose any problem and a couple of mummies that were harmless. Had all the weapons and ammo and didn't use anything except for my trusty pistols mostly on bats a few scorpions and the crocs. I did hear a dog howling in the distance towards the end but never did encounter it." - Momster (13-Aug-2002)
"Well what a strange little place Florida has turned into nowadays. In this 35 minute level you will find a handful of different looking locations that seem to have no real connectedness but that still somehow seem to work together really nicely. The gameplay is fairly straightforward but that made this ideal as a level to play when you want something light and not oppressive like some dark and difficult tomb levels. So if you just want to unwind with Lara after a hard day then this one is a good pick." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"This 45 minutes level does not really resemble Florida at all except maybe for the quite nicely done beach area and the many palm trees. The custom WAD features a variety of enemies which pose no major threats (bats dogs scorpions ninjas mummies crocodiles). I found a secret which is key for progression on this level (the key for the mechanical scarab). The main large area suffers from the disappearing horizon issue and the mix of textures is interesting but a little wild and often applied very repetitively in the huge rooms. Gameplay keeps you quite entertained throughout with some jumping a few levers a little maze and a short but nice course for the bike. I thought the Italian flag at the end was a nice touch - but why in Florida?" - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"A nice little level that will take around 45 minutes to complete. It is reasonably difficult with a couple of red herrings to put you off but the thinking player should have no difficulty in solving this one. I loved the bike ride but a word of advice. At some stage get off the bike and look around." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"I never visited Florida but I don't think that it may look like this! I don't think I'll find Cambodian statues in the middle of the city or even Indian textures in the buildings. But this isn't the real problem of the level. The architecture is very weird for a city and has a lot of bugs. I can say the same to the textures. The puzzles and traps aren't bad they're just simple. Anyway after spending a good time downloading a 7MBs file I expect something better." - Leandro (21-Jun-2002)
"One of the most important things to me is a level that looks interesting and is fun to play - and this is both. You'll find yourself in a small town in Florida containing different buildings including a small hotel. Your objective is to find different items needed to progress further into the level and your search will take you through all of these buildings. The textures used are almost perfect and really help make the level so great. Although textures from many sets are used including some new some Egyptian and some from the India levels they are used very well together along with the music to create a truly inviting atmosphere. You'll find a mix of enemies here which include ninjas crocs scorpions dogs bats and mummies. Don't worry though - you'll find just enough weapons and ammo scattered around to take care of them and they are very well placed in the level. The puzzles in the level weren't very hard but they were a lot of fun and included firetraps spikes a short maze underwater tunnels and a swinging chain. My favorite part was the obstacle course for the motorcycle which included firetraps and spikes. This is my kind of level - looks great fun to play and not too hard. I'll definitely play this one again." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"Florida? Orlando?; theme park?? Maybe that's the connection? It doesn't matter I had great fun. Main goal is to gather the mechanical beetle and key the cartouche and a star. The key is a secret and it's the only secret I found and it's in the exactly same place as Nadia used in her first level (if you played her first level you know what I mean). The place looks huge as there is a main grass field and the buildings that are surrounding the place are those you need to enter. Enemies are ninjas pesky bats mummies and a hyena or two some crocs and scorpions. With more than enough ammo you don't need to worry. There is one place in this level that had a wow effect. I just sat there and looked. I call it the daisy room and when you see it you'll know what I mean. Although at times you could reach the end of the world and it suffers from a disappearing horizon I liked what I saw. The bike ride was fun and you only need it to ride through a wall and of course flatten some ninjas at the same time. 20-05-2002" - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"Quite easy level. Nothing difficult to jump. No health packs used." - Fairy Godfather (21-Jun-2002)
"This is an exploration level set within a large and fairly open environment. The puzzles are all the 'pull lever open a door somewhere 'variety but the gameplay is enlivened with a short motorbike ride and some pleasant and original (as far as I could make out) textures. There's one well-hidden door (atop an angled climbable wall) and plenty of weaponry; although why you need it is a mystery as there are very few enemies." - Orbit Dream (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a short level without logic. Some rooms too big for doing almost nothing. Textures aren't good some extended some shorted. There aren't any shadows there aren't any lights. I would like to know how this level can be an autobiographic level? (author says)" - Lorena (21-Jun-2002)
"Why Florida? - I couldn't see an orange tree. A lot of running - no real difficulties (the key to the mechanical scarab perhaps) - not even nitro for the bike. Only a few mummies. No new touch!" - Emeritus (21-Jun-2002)
"A good level with different enemies and nice textures. This level was not hard but nice to play. I had play one hour and 10 minutes and I had a lot of fun. I saw all enemies from the Tomb-Raider-Games. This level was not so dark. I like this." - Andi Croft (21-Jun-2002)
