Reviewer's comments
"This was a nice level. Not too complicated, fun, and playable. You go around searching for objects and dodging a few traps, as well as dealing with a bull. Even though more cameras would've been helpful, it was easy to figure out what most of the switches did. I didn't need to use the flares during a good portion of the level, but right when I got to one part where I needed them most, the flare bug appeared! Anyway, I had to go through that area the old fashioned way: throwing flares all around. Then just when I thought I would have the chance to ride the bike at the end, the level ended :(. Oh well, it was a good level nonetheless. Found 3 secrets (which were rather easy)." - alan (22-Nov-2022)
"This is a very playable debut (and only) level of the Egyptian style, only in TR1 this time. The surroundings are very well put together and pleasing, only marred slightly by the dark corridors and the irritating flare bug. There's an enjoyable timed run through a spike filled room using a cogwheel, plus a bull sequence which aren't usually my forte, although this one proved quite co-operative. A nice and pleasant level." - Ryan (23-Oct-2017)
"What a shame this builder never made another level; for a debut, this is very decent. It's well made and the gameplay maintains interest - nothing at all difficult for an experienced player, but there's a good balance of timed run/traps/enemies etc., and good use made of the bull, culminating in Lara finding everybody's favourite beetle and escaping towards her motorbike. Very pleasant." - Jay (28-Aug-2016)
"A good looking and fun egyptian level. The textures themselves were standard and common but still the design itself was done nicely and looked realistic so it managed to look different from its egyptian counterparts. After a very familiar entrance you arrive at a well textured courtyard with a pool and then explore a temple. I particularly liked the two-floored hall which had the bull in it. There are good parts gameplay-wise, I found the double timed-run quite nice. It was also tough to make the bull hit at one of the doors. At first plays I manage to miss a secret or two most of the time but this time I found the 4 secrets so I guess they were not hard to find. Unfortunately the flare bug kicks in quite early and when you really need light which is the only real bad thing in this level. A good effort by the builder." - Nomad (09-Feb-2016)
"At last an entertaining level; no great puzzles but entertaining anyway. There are some small defects, like the entrance into the water in the main pool, if you go running and jumping through the corridor from the main pool to the bull room Lara dies (I think there are spikes very near in the adjacent room above) or the button you can't press if you don't run quickly when approaching to the door with the bull. The texturization is very very good, near perfection, but it's a pain the flare bug when you reach the dark (black) passage when you really need the extra lighting. Also there are not camera shots when you press the buttons, so you must figure out what to do or where to go. Where are the musics? With a properly beta testing this level could be much better." - Jose (02-Feb-2016)
"Here's another one-shot from the early years of the level editor. I can't explain the title, as there were no lawyers in sight for the forty minutes I spent here. However, the flare bug kicked in at a most inopportune time, as I was entering a long, dark and twisting passage, so I had to steal some extra flares to flick and toss as I went along. The various tasks are instantly recognizable to anyone who has played a lot of Egyptian levels, but they're put together in entertaining fashion and there are a few surprises along the way. Once you've found the beetle to go along with the wind- up stem, you're able to escape and finish the exercise. A nice little tidbit." - Phil (23-Jun-2015)
"A good old Egyptian temple level, rather bright, well textured, and with reasonable proportions. Enemies are hardly used twice, usually easy to kill. With a variety of little challenges it keeps going, from rope swinging to spikes and the infamous bull. I was missing cameras, because sometimes it was not clear what the button Lara just pressed might have opened. Straight ahead gameplay, never got stuck, and the players only grudge will probably be Lara doesn't get to ride the bike at the end. Noticed one rare bug; Lara can pick up the vraeus placed up on the second floor while standing down on the ground floor, in front of the big door." - Ruediger (01-Aug-2009)
"Despite being rather short, this level is pretty fun. It's linear nature warrants you a flowing gameplay, without any crucial spots to get you stuck on. There is a bull corridor which I thought was nicely crafted and the author has blended in nicely TR1 and TR4 textures in this outdoorsy temple. It's a nice little level to play between other demanding releases. Flare bug appears just when you have to get into dark hallways, but fortunately you get quite a few flares to waste and work your way through. 25 minutes, 4 secrets. 09/07" - Treeble (13-Sep-2007)
"Set in a style reminiscent of the one from the first game's "Egypt" setting this level takes you on a rather imaginative and fast paced journey through its various areas that sometimes interconnect with each other rather cleverly, taking you from temples, to outdoors fountain courtyards, from bright sunlit spaces to places so dark, even your flares are too terrified to shed a ray of light (due to the flare bug). The looks are decent, yet nothing special, but the thing that makes this level worthwhile playing is the approach in gameplay. Most of the ideas here are still quite creative and enjoyable, even in 2006. I wouldn't call any of them extremely difficult, but maybe some (the pushable block, the elusive 3rd button after the boulder) require a keen eye, and the bull-fight might need some prior experience in fighting it to get through relatively unharmed. It takes approximately 30 minutes to master this one, and overall it's a satisfying experience for those who want a breath of fresh air in the tasks the levels can offer, but on the other hand the motorbike at the end somehow left you wanting for more, due to the bike ride the final view promised, but it was good while it lasted, so worthy a recommendation!" - eTux (03-Feb-2006)
"This level starts out with a few tutorial style rooms but soon branches out and has some lovely rooms with beautiful pools of water and fountains. The puzzles are interesting and can be difficult like the timed run and the encounter with the bull plus there is a Golden Vraeus and Guardian key to find spike traps deadly water crocs and scorpions roaming about boulders a dark passage (with the flare bug!) a pool to drain and a few buttons to find. Just when I thought there was going to be a fun bike ride the level ended before I could even get on it. This was a fun level and I hope to see more by this author." - RaiderGirl (16-Jan-2003)
"I had a terrible experience in a black dark area because of the flare bug. This is an easy level you need a vraeus a guardian and the mechanical scarab to finish it but with the flare bug it gets frustrating in one point. A few ninjas scorpions and dogs scattered around and spike traps rolling ball traps to avoid. The bull will give you access to buttons and finally the vraeus mentioned above. A timed door wasn't that hard and in the end you don't even get to ride the bike the loading screen appears while Lara is next to it. I didn't enjoy it." - Kristina (13-Jan-2003)
"45 minutes of hands on TR entertainment featuring a fast paced gameplay a solid setting and a clever course that has you pass the raging bull more times than you care for. I liked the mix of various wads the timed door was quite tricky and my only complaint is that you are not able to ride the motorbike into the sunset. The enemies are placed well the tasks show great variation and the flybys and cutscenes make sure that you won't get stuck. All in all an enjoyable if unspectacular adventure. Try it." - Dimpfelmoser (13-Sep-2002)
"This level is recommended for TR rookies it's fun but not brilliant. But you can see already a big talent of the author for sure a big promise for the future. Enemies are many scorpions a few ninjas crocodiles dogs and bats. The whole environment is standard but not bad the bullfight-part is well done. Your target is to find the mechanical scarab which you need to clear the way from the spikes and finish the level. For beginners recommended but also for the experts a nice game!" - Freeman Porter (26-Aug-2002)
"The title sounds a bit Western-like but it's a pure Egypt level. The level design is nice but it's too dark in some places. That's annoying because of the flare bug. The difficulty level is rather low to medium there are some rollingballs and spike traps and a timed door. Lara has to find the mechanical bug to finish the level. All in all a nice little level recommendable in the first place to beginners." - Sheevah (11-Aug-2002)
"There's a great solid look to this 45 minute level and quite a few things to do but practically the only thing that comes to mind when I think of this level is the bull run where you must tempt the beast into not only busting open 2 gates but also smashing a wall tile while trying not to be pummeled to death by it. Apart from that though there is a tricky spiked timed run a bit of swimming and a fair few enemies to kill while looking for 4 secrets and the mechanical beetle that will let you outside to an awaiting motorbike but ends before you can reach it. This level plays nicely but the only problem I found was that the flare bug kicks in when you most need them in a pitch black set of hallways and this I could have done without." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"This is a very solidly textured and lighted 45 minutes adventure. It only lacks a bit of spirit and originality maybe although the dancing with the bull was well set up. You will meet up also with scorpions dogs crocs and an occasional ninja in your quest for a vraeus and a guardian key that bring you to the mechanical scarab who allows you to exit to your bike. There is actually quite some gameplay variety here with swimmig ropes spikes boulders a timed door and 4 secrets of which I only found three. The big downside is the flarebug which hits yet again and there is a pitch black area to master so this was not funny. Interestingly you can pickup the vraeus standing one floor further down by pressing action against the bull door." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"This was a relatively simple level that became more difficult because you were looking for things that simply were not there. The bull was nice and worked as it should but one puzzle had me thinking for a while. My only complaint was in the pitch dark passages naturally the flare bug was in evidence which for me ruined the level. I really wish the authors would fix these things before releasing their levels." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"A nice level with some well-textured rooms. Lara has to find some objects to go out from a temple with a motorcycle among jumps over the lava passages under water pulsating to activate and enemies to kill ninja and a lot of scorpions. I have ended the level in 40 minutes finding 3 of the 4 secrets to disposition with middle difficulty." - Boris (21-Jun-2002)
"You go through an Egyptian palace with various puzzles - swimming climbing rope-swinging and one of those non-killable bulls. On the way you find the scarab and the key to be able to exit." - G.Croft (21-Jun-2002)
"Must have mentioned it before I know I hate bulls. And why do I keep playing well call it my deformity. Once I am over the initial shock I can manage and let them do what bulls do best smashing doors. In this case 2 gates and a wall tile. The level itself I thought was rather nice apart from the dark corridors with the flare bug sloppy. For the rest there is a timed run some swimming and climbing. Ninja's and scorpions as enemies. All in all I had a good time." - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
"Fairly short level but a very good first attempt by this author. Some interesting music waiting for games to load. Puzzles were fairly easy with most of Lara's skills required to progress. The flare bug appeared in one section of very dark corridors but plenty were supplied so it didn't spoil the game." - Fairy Godfather (21-Jun-2002)
"I've little to add to the comments of the other reviewers except to mention the quite beautiful open area with the fountain; and the cunning timed door which had me puzzled for a while. The flare bug was a major drawback however as was the button to the right of the 'Bull Door' which needed to be activated before the bull emerged as it was impossible to reach afterward." - Orbit Dream (21-Jun-2002)
