LARA NEVER HAS A REST
5:
GONE WITH THE WATER

Note: Secrets worth to
find so as to take your hands on new weapons because baddies just won't give
theirs to you - and why? I tell you: they don't have any. Moreover, enemies are
not even human beings. Remember this? Oh yes, previous levels had the same. Of
course, those who are done with those won't feel a pressing need of searching
for weapons for he/she already has them. Nonetheless. it is still okay to take
a look around for ammo because levels to come predict using your weapons
intensively - so, keep your eyes open.
Some vases can be shot
to pieces, sometimes doing harm to the raider.
As you can probably
tell of the title, you will have to swim a lot, so take a deep breath and let's
go adventuring!
Took my advice of taking a deep breath? Okay, you start underwater. Be alert,
water is drifting away... Lara. And in the stream you should pick up the
crowbar. No problem if you miss it, you will need it to an elevator at the
beginning making your progress easier. Having arrived to the hall just keep on
searching, don't give a fig to the artifacts 'cause you will have to destroy
them to get a few extras. Paying due attention will pay off by finding the way
to the first secret. Still you have to keep on searching, it is not
self-evident. Discover the hall because if you succeed to acquire the crowbar,
you will have to use it in time, otherwise you won't get any help. Look for the
star that will get you high when you need it. After that swim underneath the waterfall
into the next hall.
A little bit of jumping around awaits here if you missed the star. If you did,
use the elevator. Go up high and pulling the lever will show you the way to
follow. Be determined and just keep on jumping even if you fall sometimes.
There are places where it is better to jump near a wall and there are places
where at the ledge. Should you come across some ammo do not hesitate to pick it
up for you might be in need of them later.
Arriving to the next
hall take a look around. It is two halls in one. In one of them you can catch a
glimpse of a switch at a decent high you can't reach. Maybe next time. Take a
look around in the one with pillars but paying attention not only to the
possible pickups right in front of you. Shoot if you like but remember, you may
pull the tough end of a wishbone.
If you reach the high place you needed, you will face a grid and see a scroll.
Well, that is the goal but there is a long way ahead. Take what you are able.
You have triggered a quake, so get back into the hall with the switch, maybe
now ... Having used the switch run for your life. The pic on the right helps
you to figure what to do. (This and other screenshots can be viewed here:
http://treditor.freeweb.hu/english)
As you could see it at the switch, a waterfall starts running at another site
too and there are no obstacles before you anymore. In the hall you have to jump
two thingies attack. It won't be long before you shoot them dead if you have by
then the crossbow and the explosive ammo. If you missed it, run. You can return
into the hall with the spring and reach the next level through the other
doorway. For now there is only one way to go, the door can only be opened by
the Pharos pillar. In a room you can see vases. In your right is the 2nd secret,
where you can get the crossbow if missed previously. To that you will have to
work a bit but I think it pays off.
The left room is full of switches. Here you will have to have a couple of tries
instead of running to the lever for a simple pull. In this room is the Pharos
pillar you need to open the door you just saw. Don't look for it, it is locked
up. Let your curiosity be excited more by the locked door in the room with vase
and see what's behind. Oops, it is the Pharos loop, isn't it! Well, you can go
now. Still: remember a place you can visit in the hall of vases, even if not
now but a little later. To that you will have to have your head in the clouds.
Well, used up the Pharos pillar and arrived in this huge hall. A nice pool, for
now, without water. But as you can tell from the title, in this level your task
is to get everything wet. To that end, be prepared.
Explore the area to
find the key to the third secret.
You will find the Kentaur diamond handy in this level, too, because it gets a
waterfall running. Use the Pharos loop up right to the entrance, then you will
have to enterprise to find another Pharos pillar.
Notice the two torches. Near them you can peep into the place where you can
find the nice handles of the Hathor head and the Pharos pillar. Entering the
door go down and there you will have to look for places that lead upstairs. It
is too dark at places, so use your matches. Find the Pharos pillar first but
you can't proceed. Going back and using the pillar you will see a cut scene
that shows the way to follow.
You can either proceed
or try to get to the 3rd secret (See below). Having chosen the latter, keep on
looking here. If you decide to get moving, go back through the entrance. That
area is under water as well, so you can reach now the hall above. But before
proceeding, think carefully of what you have seen meanwhile. Recollecting
everything you will find the 4th secret and reach it with the help of the
water.
Having poured every
place you will be able to get to the 3rd secret, where another great weapon is
the price: a grenade launcher.
Leaving the upper room arrive into another and see a door. You can't enter yet
but a mummy attacks so think fast. There are vases in the wall-space. Shoot
them and you can find a laser. How do you think you could use it? Run back to
the previous room and look around. Let the animal part of you rule and destroy.
Enter the door and look around. There are blinking lights in a small chamber on
the right - might be useful later. You can also see a switch you can't reach
yet. Might use it later ... On the left you arrive in a hall containing another
door. Watch carefully and you will see scarabs on the wall. Does it mean
anything ? If you have collected the crowbar at the very beginning of the level,
use it now. If you haven' ... okay, don't panic, you won't have to start it all
over again. Find another one on this level - look thoroughly.
Use the crowbar and be sly enough. Not being that ... do you think scarabs are
up to some torchlight and electro shock ?
Having released the scarabs you will see a cut scene and you will know
what to do. After the door has opened (3 scarabs needed) you will see three
wall spaces. In the middle one you can find the key of the mechanic scarab. Looking
down you can see the crossbow of the first secret if you missed it. If you
don't have it yet it worth going to get it in the first hall with waterfall
because it will be extremely useful at the beginning of the next level. From
the right pit you get into a dark tunnel. Use your torches if you can't see
where you have to direct your steps. Pull yourself up and climb into the gap.
There is a scroll holder in the room. Well, you only have to retrieve the scroll
that fits here. So now you can leave the place. :-) Jumping down into the left
pit you can hear a mummy. If you hold a grenade launcher or explosive ammo, end
it up and look around. Here is the 5th and also the last secret.
Through the gap opposite the entrance you arrive at a place with two pillars.
Having realized there are two switches behind both do I really have to explain
what to pull ? The rest is self-evident. After that you arrive into a spike
room. If you look around you find out how to get through to the scroll. Pick it
and go through the rift back to the pit hall. Now you can go to the scroll
holder. Put the scroll in place, experience a little earthquake and you can
enter the next level.
