Authorized Walkthrough G&D Productions.

During an expedition to the east in search of the fabled treasures of Hoo Flung Dung, Lara had followed a number of clues that had led nowhere.

One afternoon, Lara was contemplating her next move while walking in the grounds of the Hoo Flung palace when she spotted a dark opening through a dense thicket of shrubs.

Ever the curious one, she just had to investigate. Cautiously, she made her way through the undergrowth and found a small opening in the steep hill beyond. In she ventured and found herself sliding down a steep slope into a hidden, but well tended garden.

Could this lead to the object of her quest? Or would it be another dead end?

The Palace Gardens.

Lara slides into the garden around the Palace, go N and R around the corner to a small building on the corner of the garden, from the higher ground at the palace you can runjump/grab to the roof of the small building, get up and hop into the hole in the roof to get the Jewel of the East. Go runjump/grab SW to the roof of the palace and go over the top to the other side, about halfway to the S is a flat part in the roof and you’ll find Secret#1 there, a ½ MP. Go back to jump to that NE roof again and then head S and do runjump/grabs over all the parasols to the last building on S side, there’s a hole in the ceiling.

The Emperor’s Fan.

Drop in and swim down to get some Flares, then go climb out S and follow the corridor to where a Warrior attacks, shoot him to get the Emperor’s Fan. Go into the passage W and follow to the end (ignore the ladder in that R hand passage) in the n end of the corridor is a hole up in the ceiling, climb up and place the Gem to open the door, go in, shoot the Warriors to get a ½ MP and the Yang. The Crowbar lies on a pedestal in the W, in the E is a MP to be found. Go place the Emperor’s Fan on the table and the door opens N, go in to a Puzzle room.

Puzzle Room.

Pushing the puzzle pieces on the tiles will raise ledges in the floor and the next door n opens up, same story there and one more door opens N, now the Pieces have to go all the way into the N room and on their Tiles (well… that was fun, be sure to Save here). Another gate opens N, go in and to the R is a room with a lever, the lever opens the gate across the room, and in that room is a Timed switch in the far corner.

Timed Run.

The switch will open a gate back in the room with the Fan S (cutscene), so pull and turn L, sprint to the gate R and go slalom through the open doors to the table with the Fan, past it to the S and R into the new room. The lever there will open a trapdoor in the pond in the middle of the Palace garden as the cutscene shows.

The Alpha and Beta Stars.

Leave the room through the SE door, down the hole and follow back to that passage with the ladder L, go up and slide back into the Garden, go to the pond and dive into the hole. Follow through to a big Courtyard, in the SE corner is a small door, open it and go up to a Snake-pit, shoot the Snakes down in the pit and drop in, hop into the alcove E and get the Alpha and Beta Stars from the wall, standjump L out of the alcove to grab the Jumpswitch on the wall (gate opens up) and use the bamboo pole to get onto the upper walkway, from there a runjump/grab back to the exit and go R into the newly opened gate to a staircase.

The Ray of Hope and Crossbow.

Follow up to where you can use the Alpha Star to open the doors. Go in and shoot the Warrior, he will drop the Ray of Hope, go have a look out of the window while you go to the back of the room to use the Beta Star to open the other door at the stairs. Go back and enter those doors L, shoot the Warrior for a MP and get the Crossbow from the pedestal at the window, a lever N will open a gate in the Courtyard below.

The Lasersight and the Yin.

Go back down the stairs to the Courtyard and into the open gate N, past another staircase R and in the room at the end is a switch to open up the staircase, go in and look N under the stairs for a crawlspace, get in and follow up to a small room with the Lasersight on display, get it and go back to go up the stairs, look up in the SE corner and shoot the Target with your new toy (Crossbow+Sight). The door opens and inside is another Warrior to deal with, this one drops the Yin. Go place the Ray of Hope in the shrine SW and a door in the Courtyard will open up. So follow the staircase down to the Courtyard and enter the E door, a deep pit lies ahead, hop back close to one of the walls and grab the edge of the pit, shimmy along the wall to the opposite side and go through a gate which will drop shut behind you.

The 2nd Jewel of the East.

This Courtyard was partly covered in sand after a major disaster, dive S into the pool and swim down to go L into the space under that roof and swim E into the small opening, L at the end and R into another wider tunnel. just where the sandy floor changes to a white marble is a tunnel to the R, go in for Secret#2, a ½ MP. You could also decide to swim straight E and up to that Boulder ramp for air first before going for the Secret. Climb out at the Boulder ramp and climb the red lever cage W, stand on the E edge facing E and standjump with a grab in the last moment to catch onto the ladder in the hole in the ceiling. up in the room are 4 pictures of Ancient Warriors, one is facing the other way, climb into a hidden space and get Secret#3, Flares, go back to the room and go into an adjacent  room with a Burning reach-in switch, crawl under the hole, stand up as soon as the burner goes off and use the switch, hold side jump or duck while Lara uses it and you’ll be gone before the burner starts again, go back to the lower room where the cage is now gone, use the lever to release the Boulder and it will drop into the Secret passage, a block will lower in the Courtyard. Swim back there and go into the new tunnel to get to a submerged staircase, swim down and get the 2nd Jewel of the East, swim back to the Courtyard and into the SW corner, climb out at the gate you can open with the Jewel.

Timed Burning Pillar Run.

In the next big Lava pit are 3 pillars with burners on top. On the entrance wall are 3 switches which will stop the Burners, but they are Timed, start with the L hand switch from facing N and quickly get to the switch R of it, then sidejump R to land in front of the 3rd switch and then roll and runjump onto the first pillar (don’t run to the edge of the pit but try to jump one step before that), a running jump/grab to the second pillar and a runjump/grab to the last, then a last runjump/grab to get to the S side open gate. Follow the passage through to another deep pit.

The Jump Pit.

Runjump to the top of the pillar and stand on the NE corner, look down NE and spot the MP, slide about to the first seam in the slope and jump hard R to land on that ledge with Secret#4, a ½ MP. Look down NE and spot a sloped ledge on the side of the big sloped wall. do a sidejump R from facing NW and land on that ledge, grab the edge and shimmy R to a sloped pillar that will allow you to jump/grab forward to the ladder on the wall. climb into the opening in the wall, walk through and drop/hang from the W side, shimmy all the way R to a ledge with the Alpha Star and go back the way you came. At the ladder opening a jump/grab to the pillar R (sloped away from you). Hang in the middle and pull up over the top, now comes a jump sequence, not too hard if you let Lara slide a bit before every jump, in the end you’ll end up on a ledge with a receptacle for that Star. The gate will open (I managed to jump over the block with a L curve to grab the ledge near the E opening, :D) Follow the ledge into the opening in the wall and go up the ladder to come to a steel bridge spanning the high room, a Warrior attacks. Don’t fall off the bridge and get the Ray of Hope after you’ve done him in. On the other side of the bridge you can pry the Beta Star from the wall and go up the next ladder to the top of the room, open the gate with the Beta Star and go in.

Hazard Alley.

Follow in to the second passage L (ignore the wooden floor passage for now) and get through those Rotating Knives (stand real close and hit “roll” when the Knives open up) and come to a Moving pillar, jump past it and turn around to jump back into the L side where a switch will open the N gate beyond the Pillar. Jump to the gate and enter the passage to Knife-traps, runjump past them and in the next room is a MP and a lever to open the gate behind the glass. Go back through that lovely passage and go R into that wooden floor passage you ignored before, follow through to the room with the open gate, get the MP and walk through the painting behind the pedestal, go into a room to get the 3rd Jewel of the East and go back as a raising block went up in the previous room, open the ceiling hatch and make your way through the room carefully, lower a Timed block in the floor opening L and go down, follow through to a room with a transparent floor, shoot a Warrior and to the glass wall W, place the Jewel to open the door and go in L, just L of the door is a grated Tile raising a Timed block in the middle of the room.

Timed Block.

Sprint with a curve over the Tile, starting from the open door and this way you already have speed when the block still has to go up. Jump onto the front side of the block, turn around facing E and grab up to the floor above, runjump/grab into an opening E and light a flare to spot the hidden crawlspace up L, halfway down this passage, get in for Secret#5, a ½ MP. Crawl back out and head E to runjump to the next floor and find the Jumpswitch on the W side of that floor, hop/grab back and the switch will open the E side of the glass cover around the lever, go in and open a gate far W with the lever, cross the rooms to the W. Go up the wooden ramp and end back up in the garden, go S and open the big doors E of the pond by placing the Ray of Hope in the shrine, inside the Yin and Yang should be combined to use the Balance in the receptacle.

The End…

The floor opens up and you’ll drop into the lower passage leading to a Boulder-trap, just slide down and watch the scene, Lara will slide onto the end trigger just before the 2nd Boulder catches up with her…

Could this lead to the object of her quest? Or would it be another dead end?

Walkthrough
-----------

At the bottom of the slide, Lara finds herself standing on some grass at the rear of a large building. Take a little time to explore this pleasant garden and see the sights. The shelters, the magnificent arch, the small pond with a grating in the bottom, two smaller stone buildings and a large, double doored structure.

We will be going through the double doors much later but first, Lara must find the means to open them.

Head over to the Northeast corner of the large building and, standing on the sloped stonework, jump up and grab the roof of the nearest smaller stone building. From here, Lara can jump to the roof of the large building to collect secret #1, a small medi-pack, from the rear of the roof.

Run back and jump back to the roof of the smaller building. At the top of the roof there is a recess which contains a Jewel of the East. Collect this and climb back out of the recess.

Make your way, in a Southerly direction, across the roofs of the three shelters until you reach the small building on the other side of the garden. The last jump is the trickiest but is possible.

On the roof of this building there is another recess but this time, much deeper, with water in the bottom. Jump in and swim to the bottom to collect some flares.

Climb out of the water and arm yourself immediately. You are attacked by a guard. Dispose of him quickly and he will drop an Emperors Fan. Take this, you will need it soon.

Run up the passage and around the corner. Follow the West passage to the end ignoring the North passage half way along - you don't need to go there yet. Into the wider passage at the end and head North. At the end of this passage, there is an opening in the ceiling. Climb up and into the entrance chamber of the large building.

Place the Jewel of the East and a screen door will open. Enter with guns at the ready - you will be attacked by two more guards. Dispose of these - they will drop a small medi-pack and a Yang. Collect these and then pick up the large medi-kit and the crowbar from their respective plinths.

An exploration of this room will reveal a closed gate leading to a room with a lever within, a closed screen door and a table-like structure with two fans on it and a space for a third. Place the Emperors Fan and the screen door opens.

In the next section of the room is another closed door, two tables with coloured cubes upon them and two pits. Pull and push the tables onto the floor tiles with dragon markings. When both tables are on marked tiles, the floor of the pits rise and the door opens allowing access to the next section.

Once again, pull and push the tables onto the marked tiles to open the last door and raise the floor in the pits.

Lara may now enter the Red Room. In here, you will find four more dragon-marked tiles of differing colours and a closed exit gate. Pull the tables into the Red Room and place them on the dragon tiles so that the colour of the cube on the table matches the colour of the tile.

When all four tables are placed correctly, the exit gate will open. Go through. There is another closed gate to your left and an open doorway to the right. Go through here and operate the lever. This will open the last gate you passed.

Go into the room to the West and find a wall mounted lever. The first time you operate this lever, a camera will show the gate by the entrance opening. Wait for the lever to reset as this gate/lever is timed. Subsequent operation of the lever will not activate the camera so you will have plenty of time for the run.

Throw the switch and run as fast as you can back to the southern end of the building. If you were quick enough, you will get through the gate and be able to operate the lever within. A camera shows a view of the pond and you will notice that the grating, in the bottom of it, has now retracted allowing passage through it.

Head back out to the entrance chamber and drop back down into the passage below. Make your way back to that North passage which we ignored earlier. Follow this to a ladder and climb up. At the top, run forward and slide back down to the garden.

Head to the pond and swim through the drain into a pool with water cascading from the roof of an ornate building. A gate will close behind you barring a return through this tunnel.

Head over to the Southeast corner of the courtyard and kick the door open. Within, there is a closed gate to the left and a pit directly ahead. Go to the pit and shoot the snakes that slither around on the floor below. Jump to the pole and slide down.

From the floor, you will see an alcove and, high on the wall, a jump switch. You cannot reach the switch from the floor so, firstly, jump into the alcove and collect the Alpha Star and Beta Star from the wall using the crowbar.

From the door of the alcove, do an angled jump and grab to the jump switch. This will open the gate that you passed on the way in.

Climb back up the pole, backflip to the ledge and, from here, jump back to the passage and enter the newly opened doorway. Climb the stairs.

At the top, place the Alpha star. A door opens. Draw your weapons, enter the door and dispose of the guard within. Pick up the Ray of Hope that he drops then place the Beta Star. The other door on the North of the landing opens.

Once again, draw your guns and go into this room. Dispose of the guard and collect a large medi-pack that he drops. Operate the lever to open the gate into the North staircase and collect the crossbow that is lying on a plinth by the window.

Head back down the stairs and go to the North staircase. As with the South staircase, there is a closed gate but straight ahead, is a small room with a lever. Note that there is another room above with something collectable in it.

Operate the lever and open the gate to the stairs. Before climbing the stairs, take a look under the staircase to the North. You should find a crawlspace. Enter and follow the passage to the room above the lever. Collect the laser sight - you will need this at the top of the stairs.

Head back to the stairs and go up. At the top, have a look around and spot a target up a sloped alcove to the East. Combine the crossbow and laser sight, shoot the target and open the door to the final room in the house. Draw your guns and enter the room, dispatching another guard and collect the Yin that he drops.

Place the ray of hope in its holder in the Southwest of the room. A camera shows the exit door opening.

Make your way back down to the pool area and go through the door. You will find Lara in a large room with a deep pit. Notice the bricks at floor level. Drop and grab the edge of the pit then shimmy to the other end. Pull up and go through the gate into another house area. This one is flooded, though. As you stand and survey what is to come, a gate drops behind you, barring a return.

Looking around, you will see a closed gate to the South. For the moment, Lara does not possess the key to open it so; some exploration of the flooded house is required.

Dive into the water and swim to the bottom. Swim under the roof of what was the pool area into the Southeast. There is a small gap between the sand and the roof. Go through here and into the gap in the wall to the North. Turn East and follow the passage. There is air at the top of the sloped section if you need it.

Just before the floor starts to slope up, though, notice an alcove in the South wall. Within this alcove, there is a passage heading South. At the end of this passage is secret #2, a small medi-pack. Head back to the alcove, turn right and follow the passage up the slope to the air.

The slope continues up, out of the water, past a fire to a dead end with a rolling ball resting in it.

The ball will not roll just yet - Lara must trigger it by using the lever, which is, currently, sealed into a box by the water edge.

Climb out of the water and onto the box. Look up and notice a hole in the ceiling with a short section of ladder attached to the wall. You will need to do a tricky little jump and grab to catch hold of the ladder. Jump forward and only press the grab key about halfway through the jump or else Lara will miss it. Climb up into the room above.

Before going through one of the two doors in the South wall, take a look at the pictures on the wall. You will see that the Samurai are all pointing the same way bar one. Check out the different one. Hidden behind him is secret #3, some flares.

Now, head through one of the two South doors. Get your timing right and activate the switch inside the fire hole. This will remove the box from the lever in the room below.

Go back and drop back down to the water below. Climb out and activate the lever. A flyby camera will show the events unfolding and where to go next.

Jump back into the water, swim back to the main pool and grab some air. Next, swim into the opening, revealed in the flyby and into the stair well. Swim down; collect the Jewel of the East and then back to the main pool once more. Swim over to the path that leads to the closed gate you saw earlier, pull out of the water and place the Jewel of the East in its holder. The gate next to you will open.

Run through the passage in the water pipe to a long room with a deep, lava filled pit, fire-topped pillars and three wall-mounted levers.

These levers turn the flames off on the three pillars. Each lever is on a timer and all three have different timings. If you activate them in the correct order, you will have just enough time to do a series of run/jump/grabs and pull ups to get to the other side. Do try and work it out for yourself before reading on.

.

.

.

.

.

.

As you stand facing the levers, operate the furthest left one first. Next, operate the middle lever. Do a sideways jump to the right and activate the third lever. Roll, run and jump, grab the nearest pillar and pull up. Run/jump/grab and pull up onto the second pillar then run/jump/grab/pull up onto the third. Immediately run/jump/grab/pull up onto the platform at the other end of the room. As the flames have all come back on by now, there is no going back this way.

Exit through the door - a gate closes behind you - follow the passage to another large room with a lava pit and lots of sloped blocks.

Jump to the nearest column. You will see that there is a slide that ends just next to where another slide starts. Just before the second slide is a flat platform with a small medi-pack on it. This is secret #4. To get to it, you will have to do a curved jump from just the right spot to land on the platform. Too soon, and you will plummet to the lava below. Too late, and you will land on the second slide. Having got the secret or not, you need to slide to the bottom of the second slope and jump to the flat platform at the end.

Jump down to the flat column to the east then turn to face South. Jump to the first sloped block then to the next, and again to the third. From this one jump and grab to the ladder on the wall and shimmy round the corner to the left to drop onto the floor of the alcove.

Walk West to the edge of the block then drop and grab off the end. Shimmy right as far as possible then round a corner to drop into another alcove near the lava. Crowbar the Alpha Star from the wall then shimmy back up the way came. Sometimes, Lara sticks at the corner. If this happens, just go back to the alcove, drop to the floor and start again. She will make it eventually.

Once back on the platform, you may either use the ladder on the South wall or just do a standing jump onto the sloped block to the right. Another series of slide/jumps will bring you back to the lower flat block from which you started this section.

From here, jump toward the gate on the North platform and place the Alpha Star in its holder. The gate will open.

Follow the path and enter the door in the east wall. Follow the short passage to a ladder and ascend to the top. You will see that you are at the Eastern end of the bridge. Cross it but beware of a guard who will attack.

Once he has been dispatched, pick up the Ray of Hope that he drops and proceed to the Western side of the bridge. Collect the Beta Star from the wall then follow the passage to another ladder. Climb up and follow the passage to the platform at the Northern end of the long room.

Place the Beta Star and the exit gate will open. Follow a short passage to the East and, near the end, you will find two passages that head North. For the moment, ignore the first one you come to and, instead, enter the one at the far end.

There are traps galore in this passage but they must be overcome to progress. First, you will need to get through two stargates. Once through these, you come to an area with a large, spiked moving block. You can see that a gate blocks the passage beyond but a quick look to the right will reveal a wall switch behind a glass partition. This switch will open the gate.

To get to it, you will need to run toward the gate, turn, and then run back into the alcove with the switch both times avoiding the moving block. Having operated the switch, run back to the now open gate and on to the next hazard.

Two sets of low blades must be passed to get to a room with a large window, a large medi-pack and a lever. Operate the lever and see the gates open through the window. Make your way back through the various blades and blocks and head for the passage that we ignored earlier.

Run up the slope. At the top, there is a lattice through which you can see back into the flooded house area. Continue along the passage, down a slope and into the room with the open gate. Go through.

Enter the final part of this room and notice a trapdoor in the ceiling. It is too high to reach at the moment. Pick up the large medi-pack and notice that the wall behind the plinth is transparent. Go through and follow the short, dark passage into a pyramid shaped room with a shiny floor.

On a plinth in the centre of the room is a Jewel of the East. Take it and a camera shows a block rising in the gate room. Head back here, climb onto the block and open the trapdoor.

Climb into the room above and make your way to the lever at the other end, avoiding the swinging chains. Activate the lever and a block lowers to your left giving access to a hole in the floor.

Go down and follow the passage down a slope into a large pyramid shaped room with a shiny floor, an area with a lever enclosed in a strange forcefield and a guard running toward you with hostile intentions. Dispatch him quickly.

Strangely, the forcefield is not reflected in the floor like everything else. This is not important - just odd. On the Western side of the forcefield area, you should see a jump switch way up at the top. It is far too high to reach by jumping so there must be some other way of getting to it.

There is a partition wall to the west with a closed door leading to another pyramid shaped room similar to the one Lara is currently in. And way up in the roof, above the partition wall, you can see a passage.

On the wall by the partition, there is a holder for the Jewel of the East. Use it here and a door opens allowing passage to the next pyramid room. In here, there is a platform held up by a red pillar and another ramp exit leading to a closed gate.

Back near the partition there is a darker section of floor. Standing on it causes a block to rise near the platform in the centre of the room. It is tightly timed so stand on the pad then sprint toward the rising block. Jump up onto it, turn and jump/grab the upper platform. If you have done it right, you can pull up onto the high platform.

Straight ahead of you, to the east, is the entrance to the high passage you saw earlier. Run jump to this passage.

In the North wall of this passage is a crawlspace. Enter to get secret #5, a small medi-pack.

Continue to the end of the main passage and run/jump to the platform in the East pyramid. From here, you can simply drop and grab the jump switch. This turns off one of the forcefield walls allowing access to the lever inside.

Activate this lever and a camera will show the gate opening in the exit of the West pyramid. Go here and through the gate. Follow the passage until you slide down, once more, into the garden we started in.

Head over to the structure with the double doors and place the Ray of Hope in its holder. The double doors open revealing a small room with a black and white receptacle in its East wall.

If you haven't already done so, combine Yin and Yang to achieve Balance and place it in the receptacle. The floor beneath you opens and you drop to a lower passage. Follow the passage North and slide to the end of this adventure.

It seems that it was, once again, a dead end in the hunt for the treasures of Hoo Flung Dung.
