Walkthrough by Harry Laudie
You start at the bottom of some steps. Run north and up the steps and loop around to the left. Run to the south wall and drop into a trench. You are in front of a closed gate but you can pick up the shotgun off the ground. Go north and jump over the water. If you fall in, just pull up to the north ledge. Climb the ladder on the west wall. At the top back flip, roll, and grab the east ledge. Pull up and see a swinging blue ball behind a fence. You can do nothing here so jump back and climb down the ladder. Go west and see a floor lever behind a closed gate. Continue west and shoot an empty vase. Look south and see a crevice on the wall on the opposite side of the water. Jump south-west to a ledge and shoot a vase for flares. Go south and see a swinging blue ball behind a fence. Go east and then hop onto the opening in the left wall. Grab the edge and shimmy left with the crevice to a crawl space. Pull and get into the alcove. Push the big button on the wall and get a cut scene of a dog and a door opening.
If you wait there, the dog will appear. The dog can get through the fence so shoot the dog. Get out of the crawl space and drop into the water. Swim to the south-east and pull up to the south ledge. Go south and enter a corridor to the south-west. Follow the corridor to a plaza with four trees. Go to the trees and look to the east. Shoot the vase and pick up flares. The open door is to the north. Go north and enter the room. Climb the black wall ladder on the column. Do not pull up at the top or you will fall down. Shimmy to the left side, and back flip only. You will land on the roof behind you. Go east to the end and turn to the right. Run and jump the columns to the south and pick up Crystal #1 from the pedestal. Turn around and shoot a vulture.
Go north and jump onto the red-sloped roof. Slide down the grab the edge. Shimmy to the left and turn the corner onto a brown roof. Pull up and go south to pick up blue shotgun shells. Go west and safety drop to the ground. Shoot an empty vase and go north into a crawl space. Here is the swinging blue ball you saw earlier. You can use pistols to shoot the blue ball for secret #1. Get out and to the south edge. Dive into the water and swim to the east to pull up back near the four trees plaza. Go up the steps to the south. You enter an area with sloped columns. Shoot two scorpions and go to the south-west column. Pull up, back flip to a slope, and jump forward to grab the top edge of a slope. Shimmy to the right, pull up, and jump with a right curve to grab a crawl space.
Pull up and crawl east to a T-junction. Go left onto a balcony and pick up blue shotgun shells. Return through the crawl space and go straight. Safety drop and the end and go east. Loop around to the left and pull down a jump switch. The door opens to the east near a water pool. Go into the door and drop into a room. You can see a tunnel but it is blocked. Go back to the entrance and light a flare. Stand jump to grab an upper north wall crawl space. Pull up and crawl north until you can stand up. Climb the ladder to a roof. Shoot a vulture and use the floor lever. You hear a gate open near by. Climb down the ladder and continue north in the crawl space. Drop at the end and there is the open gate. This was where you got the shotgun at the start. If you go west in the room and look to the left you will find a wall switch. Using the wall switch raises a block in the tunnel. It lowers the block you saw on the other side. Basically do not touch the wall switch.
Return through the crawl space back to the area with the water. Get into the shallow water pool. Go north to pick up red shotgun shells from the water. Pull up into a west wall alcove and jump to the top of the column. Spikes pop up on the other columns. Wait until the closet spikes pop up to start the run and jump. When you land the spikes are down and the next spikes have popped up and are going down. Continue running and jumping to grab the next column and pull up. Press the big button on the east wall. Turn to the west and see two large blue doors opening.
Go west and enter the doors and shoot two bats. Go to the right and pick up flares from a pedestal. Notice a closed door in the south wall that needs the crystal. You will return here later. The vase is empty. Continue west to see a closed gate in the north wall. To the west is the water. Notice above you head another swinging blue ball. You can shoot the ball now. Go to the edge of the water in line with the blue ball to the east. Take the shotgun and use wide shot ammo. Use the LOOK key to aim the shotgun upwards. When you can see the blue ball between Lara's legs, shoot the shotgun. It may take a few shots, but you get secret #2. Or come back here later when you have a better weapon.
Drop into the water and swim to the west to pull up onto the next building ledge. Go forward and go to the north. The camera view changes and shows you two dogs. When you get control notice a closed door and brazier in the north-east corner. Run through the archway to wake the dogs and shoot them. Before you go up the steps return and go to the column at the west wall. Grab the ladder, shimmy to the left, and climb down to the bottom. Turn around and see a closed roll-up gate. On the north wall is a wall switch. Use it and notice that one gate opens and another gate closes. That wall switch will be useful later. Forget about it for now and climb the ledge in the west wall. Follow the corridor to the end and ignore the room below. There is nothing there. Pull up to the room above and pick up two flares and two red shotgun shells from the pedestals. This room is blocked later so get the items now. Go west and follow the corridor back to the room with the ladder. Climb up the ladder and shimmy to the left before you release.
Go back to the archway. Go up the steps and then go north to the sand piled by the wall. Back flip onto the sand and jump forward to grab an upper east wall crawl space. Follow the crawl space and drop on the other side. Follow the only tunnel to emerge into a large plaza. Shoot two scorpions and go east into a tunnel with a window. Turn to the right and pick up red shotgun shells. Return west and stand by the corner of the column. Use binoculars and look up to the north-west and you can see a swinging blue ball. You need a better weapon. Go west and go behind the columns. Enter a south-west short tunnel for a small medipack. Go north to the end and pick up flares behind a column to the north-west.
Return south and enter a central west tunnel. Go to the end and climb down a hole. Follow the tunnel to a large room with a shallow pool. Enter the pool and pick up a small medipack. There are large closed doors and a key lock at the west wall. There are four sets of small doors in the side walls.
Go to the north wall and push open the north-east doors. Follow the tunnel and climb down a ladder. Follow the tunnel to a large dark room. You can see closed roll-up gate at the south wall. Pick up flares in the north-east corner. You can do nothing here so return to the pool again.
Go to the north wall and push open the north-west doors. Follow the tunnel to a closed gate that needs a crowbar. You can do nothing here so return to the pool again.
Go to the south wall and push open the south-east doors. Shoot a large vase and pick up a large medipack. Return to the pool again.
Go to the south wall and push open the south-west doors. Follow the tunnel to a dark room. Pick up Crystal #2 from a pedestal. Return to the pool again.
Go west to the locked doors. Jump over the north fence and pick up flares. You can do nothing else in this room so exit back through the east tunnel. Climb the wall and return to the plaza. Go south to exit back to the sand. Go through the crawl space again. Go up the steps and down the east steps. Return to the water and dive in. Swim north and then east to pull up by the four trees plaza again. You have a choice of routes.
Choice 1: Go up the steps and jump the slopes to get to the crawl space again. Crawl to the right and safety drop again.
Choice 2: Go east and down the steps to the open door. Enter the room and go through the crawl space again.
Run down the steps through the blue door to find the door on the left needing the crystal. Use the crystal to open the door. Use the second crystal to open a second door. Enter the tunnel and the door closes behind you. Go forward and drop into a hole. You fall down a long shaft and land in water. Swim north and pull up onto a ledge. Grab the crawl space on the upper east wall and crawl through. When you stand up, you face a sewer of water. On both sides of you are columns. On the opposite side of the each column is a jump switch. Pull down the two jump switches. Dive into the water and swim out the north underwater door.
Swim north to a T-junction. Swim left and pick up red shotgun shells. Continue to another T-junction. Swim right to pick up a small medipack. Roll and swim back to the take the other junction. Swim to the end and up a vertical shaft for air. Pull up into a dark room. Go north and sprint through or crawl under the steam emitters. Follow the tunnel to a ladder and climb up. Shoot two bats and go around the central block to another tunnel in the north-west corner. Follow the tunnel and drop into water. Swim through the underwater tunnel and pull up. Go south and climb a ladder. Pull up through an open trap door and into an outside area.
To the south and west are closed gates. To the north-west is a building with columns and a closed roll-up gate. Go to the south-west corner and pick up flares. The vase is empty. Go to the north-west and get a cut scene showing many ninjas back at the starting area. Go to the south wall by the closed gates. Use the floor lever and get a cut scene showing the gates opening. The south gates lead back to the starting area. Go south and left to swim the water to the south side. Pull up and go south. Shoot two blue ninjas and one red ninja. The red ninja will drop the Gate Key. Pick up the key and swim back north to the gates and re-enter the area.
Loop around to the left and enter the west open gates. Follow the tunnel to another small area next to the water. Pick up red shotgun shells from a pedestal and then flares at the east wall. Run and jump over the water to grab the red-sloped wall to the west. Shimmy to the left, pull up, back flip, and roll to grab a ledge. Pull up and push the big button. You get a cut scene of trap doors dropping. You have of choice of routes.
Choice 1: Fall into the water, swim through the south underwater opening and continue south until you can go east to pull back up near the four trees plaza. Go east to return to the starting area. Go north to get back to the area with the building with the columns and the roll-up gate.
Choice 2: Jump back to the slope and shimmy to the right. Pull up, back flip, roll, and grab the ledge. Pull up and exit this area to get back to the area with the building with the columns and the roll-up gate.
Go north and see a high jump switch in the corner. Go around a fence and turn to the left and enter another area. Shoot a dog and you can see the trap doors that dropped. Push open the blue doors to the west. Go across the bridge to pick up blue shotgun shells from a pedestal. Then return to the ladder. Climb the ladder and slide down a slope to jump onto a column. Shoot a vulture and jump to the middle column. Run and jump to grab the crevice in the north wall. Shimmy to the left and pull up into a crawl space. Crawl though but do not drop to the ground. Grab the edge and shimmy to left to pull up onto a column. Then jump to the column in the north-west corner.
Look east and see a tree. Behind that tree is a timed gate. Beyond that is the high jump switch. Save the game in front of the timed wall switch. Pull down the timed wall switch. Roll and turn at a slight angle to the right. Run and jump to grab the column to the right of the tree. Tap the UP ARROW to go forward a little and stand jump onto the near edge of the column with the gates. Run and jump to grab the jump switch and pull it down. You get a cut scene showing the gate rolling up. If the gates close with you inside, reload and try again. Go south and then north between the columns to the open gate.
You enter another area and see four wall switches on the north wall. Go to the east wall and pick up flares. You will also see closed doors in the east wall corners. Go to the wall switches and number them as 1 to 4 from left to right. Pull down switches #1 and #2. The four doors open in the south-east corner. Go there and use the floor lever. You get a cut scene of a gate opening. Return to the room with wall switches and reset the switches. Pull down switches #2 and #4. The four doors open in the north-east corner. Go there and exit out the open gate.
Follow the dark tunnel to a deep pit. Run and jump with a curve to grab the top of a slope to the south. Shimmy to the right, pull up, slide down, and jump with a right curve onto a column. Stand at the north-west corner. Stand jump to the next slope and jump with a left curve to land on a column. Shoot two bats before they push you off. Run and jump to the far side of the south-west sloped column. Land on the slope and jump with a left curve to land on a column. Jump to the grab the ladder and shimmy to the right. Climb up and back flip into a room. Shoot a bat and go to the east wall. Go through the crawl space and onto a roof. Shoot a vulture.
Lara will look at the east wall. Go there and see a well-hidden wall switch. Save the game in front of the timed wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and get a cut scene of a door opening to reveal a swinging blue ball. Run to the south-east corner of the roof and run and jump to a ledge behind a building. Run and jump to the south-west roof. There seems to be an invisible wall there that keeps you from jump into the corner directly. You have to jump further away to land on the roof. You can draw pistols and hope but really you will be back here later when you get a better weapon. Jump back to the wall switch and remember the invisible wall. Go through the crawl space and go to the north-west corner. Drop onto a slope and jump north to a ledge. Pick up a large medipack and use the wall switch to raise some trap doors over the pit. Use the Gate Key to open the gate. Follow the dark tunnel and pick up the crowbar.
Exit and run over the trap doors to exit the back to the room with the four wall switches. Go west to the opening in the wall. Jump over the shallow water to the area with the columns. Shoot two vultures and a scorpion. There are flares between the columns. Use the crowbar to open the north gate. Enter the next area and go to the north-east corner for a small medipack. Go west and see that there is no way possible to jump the water. But do notice an unlit brazier next to the wall to your right. Dive into the water and swim to the south. Go to the south pass a large block and pull up to an area you visited earlier after getting the second secret.
Pull up on the west ledge and go forward to shoot two ninjas. Pick up red shotgun shells from one of them. Go north and up the west steps. Go north to the sandy crawl space again. Drop on the other side and go north. Enter the next area again and go into the middle opening in the west wall. Turn around and shoot two ninjas and pick up red shotgun shells that are left behind. Follow the tunnel and drop down. Continue back to the dark room with the shallow water.
Follow the north-west tunnel again and use the crowbar to open the gate. Enter the room and pick up a torch off the floor. You get a cut scene of the brazier by the water. Exit the room and shoot two blue ninjas and two red ninjas. Watch where they die, as one red ninja will drop a Golden Key.
Go west and use the key to open the double doors. Pick up the torch and bring the torch with you. Go west to a lava pit. Run and jump to a ledge to the north and then onto a small ledge by the north wall. Time a run through the spikes and fire emitter on the next ledges and run and jump into a doorway at the west wall. Run and jump to the right edge of the slope in the water. Jump with a right curve to the slope in the corner. Just keep the jump key down and you will bounce off the slopes and onto the center ledge. Light the torch on the lit brazier. Jump to the nearest corner of the slope in the south-east corner. Slide and jump with a left curve to another slope. Slide, jump to a slope and jump with a right curve into the open door. Exit back to the room with the shallow pool.
You cannot exit the way you came in. That would be too easy. Enter the north-east tunnel and drop the lit torch into the hole. Climb down after it and pick the torch up. Follow the tunnel to a room and go to the closed roll-up gate in the south wall Light a brazier and get a cut scene of a dozen deadly traps. The gate closes behind you so you have no choice but to go through the traps. Get pass the spike balls and the next roll-up gate opens. Light a brazier to open the next roll-up gates. I found it easier to throw the torch through the trap. Then run and jump through the hole. Save the game before you do as you can get stuck dancing on the slopes until the spikes kill you. Sprint through the next spikes. Jump the next spikes and the next roll-up gate opens. Carefully get past the four sets of crushing walls and a roll-up gate closes behind you.
You have been here before. Drop the torch and use the wall switch in the north wall. The first gate opens and the second gate closes. Pick up the torch and drop it into the opening between the gates. Go to the east wall and climb the ladder. Shimmy to the left before you release. Go north and up the steps. But this time continue to the west and go down the steps. At the bottom, drop into a hole and use the wall switch to open the gate. Step inside and pick up the lit torch. Hop back to the ledge and follow the steps to the top. Continue east and south and go to the north-east corner of the room. Light the brazier and the door opens. Go through the tunnel and jump onto the platform in the water. Then jump to the east side area.
Use the two wall switches and blocks drop in corners. Move the two statues on the blocks. However, cross the paths so that the statues are on the blocks with their backs to each other. Notice the faces on the back wall that face in opposite directions. Reset the floor levers and the blocks rise. Push the statues onto the red tiles on the ledge and the gate opens in the south wall. Pick up the torch and enter the tunnel. The next gate opens for you. Exit and shoot a ninja. Pick up the torch and go east up the steps.
Enter the north door again and drop to the floor. Enter the north tunnel and drop the torch inside. Go back to the entrance and jump to grab the crawl space again. Drop on the other side and shoot a ninja. Use the wall switch to drop the block. Enter the tunnel and pick up the torch. Go out the open gate and up the steps. Go north and notice the broken door in the west wall. Go north to the water. It is possible to jump the water but go down the west tunnel. There you can easily jump the water. Go back to the area with the building with columns. Go north and through the rolled up gate. Go through the west wall opening and jump the water. Go north through the gate and go to the west. Light the brazier and electrical arcs appear above the water. You can run across the arcs and into the room.
Do not pick up the item at the west wall yet. Go to the south side of the south-west column. Climb the ladder to the top and grab the crevice. Shimmy to the right and pull up into a crawl space. Enter the room and pick up the laser sight and revolver from a pedestal. Now you can go back and shoot those two blue balls. Safety drop to the ground and go back to the water. Swim south to the end and pull up onto the west ledge again. Go north, up the steps and north to the sandy crawl space again. Go to the area with the trees and stand at the base of south column at east wall. Use the revolver and laser sight and shoot the swinging blue ball in the upper north-west columns. Look between the third and fourth orange columns. Shoot the blue ball for secret #3.
Exit through the crawl space again and the steps to get back to the door and block in the water. Jump over to get back to the statues. Exit out the south gate and shoot the blue ball above your head if you could not shoot it with the shotgun. Drop into the water and swim north and east to pull up by the four trees plaza. Go east and north to pass the broken door again. Go north and jump over the water. Go north and back through the open roll-up door in the building with the columns. Enter the room with four switches again. Exit to the north-east and follow the tunnel to the pit. Run and jump to the raised trapped doors. Jump to the central column again. Run and jump to the slope and jump to the column to the south-west again. Jump to grab the ladder, shimmy to the right, climb up and back flip again. Go east through the crawl space to the timed wall switch.
Save in front of the timed switch again. Pull down the wall switch, roll and run to south-east. Jump to a ledge and run and jump to the next roof. Pull out the revolver with laser scope as you are running. Remember about the invisible wall in that area. Try to run high up on the roof so you need little adjustment when you shoot. Use the revolver and laser sight to shoot the swinging blue ball. You get secret #4. Save the game before you fall off and die and have to redo it.
No need to do the pit route again. Just safety drop to the ground and go north through the roll-up door in the building with columns. Go out the west wall opening and jump the shallow water. Go through the north door and go west to run over the electrical arcs again. Run west to the pedestal with the armor and the level ends.
