Black Villa

Walkthrough by Harry Laudie
[Note] You start the level with no weapons. I used
the lighter colored needle to give directions. This means that the compass
points are reversed from reality. This level is in black and white. It really
makes it hard to see things. There are some new moves as described in the
author's notes. The roll is replaced by a strange looking rotate. This
walkthrough is for the easy version of the game. [End note]
You get a long
introduction with pictures and narration. Then you slide down a slope to start
the level. Go south through the crawl space and drop down into the house. You
can use the ALT and UP ARROW new move to roll forward from the crawl space. Go
south to a closed door and see a floating red crystal. Look to the west and see
a guard leaning against a wall. Do not approach him. You have no weapons and he
does. Continue south and go up some steps. You can see a corridor to the west.
Ignore it for now. It leads to the tightrope above your head. There is a room
to the east. That is useful at the end of the game. Continue south to a room
with a depressed floor. Go down the steps and pick up Jane’s
Diamant from the pedestal. Many harmless death
figures fly around you and then fly away. You will see many of these death
figures during the game.
There are many
hallways in this room. Get out on the west side of the depressed floor. The
south-west corridor ends in a key lock. Enter the north-west hallway. You can
open the door in the first left alcove and enter a bathroom. You can open
another door to the toilet. There is a small medipack
on the floor. If you pick it up, mice start to attack. Leave it for later.
Go west and see
a door next to some boxes. First enter the north alcove. Pick up a small medipack from the box
at the north wall. Hop onto the west box and push a box twice into the west
wall. Enter the alcove and pick up a large medipack from a pedestal. Exit and return to the
closed door in the south wall. Shoulder force open the door in the south wall.
You enter a room of boxes. There is an opening in the upper north wall. Pull
back two moveable boxes so that the three boxes align with that opening. Go
outside the room and push a moveable box from the north alcove into an opening
between the two boxes at the south wall. Move the upper box at the south wall
into the upper south wall opening and push it south onto the last box of the
line of boxes. From this box you should be able to reach an upper balcony with
a wall switch.
Pull down the
timed wall switch and get a flyby back to the closed door near where you
started the level. Wait until the switch resets and pull down the wall switch
again. Hop back to the floor and turn around. Run out the door and go east down
the corridor. At the depressed floor turn to the right
and run down the steps into the timed door. When you hit the floating red
crystal, the save game menu is activated. Save the game or hit escape to ignore
it. It must be a save crystal. Go east and pick up a Key
from the pedestal. The entrance door has closed. Pull down the wall switch on
the south wall and the door opens to the east.
Enter the door
and push a moveable box. Push it as far as possible to the east wall. Above the
box is a wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and a trap door opens above
your head. But you cannot reach it yet. Pull out the darker box at the lower
north wall. Push it under the upper darker box at the north wall. Pull back the
box from under the wall switch. Move it next to the first box so that you can
pull out the upper darker box out of the wall. Go to the north-east corner and
pull out the lower lighter box. Move it next to previous box so that the three
boxes are in a north-south straight line. Pull out the upper darker box from
the wall. It must be on top of the middle lower box. Move the two side boxes so
that the three boxes are in an east-west straight line. Push the top box to the
east. Hop onto the top box and pull up into the west corridor above you. Go
west and see a hole in the floor. Pull down a jump switch in that hole. You
drop into the corridor below. Go east and climb the box again into the
corridor. Go west, go around the hole, and drop into the hole at the west end
of the corridor. You are outside the door in the starting corridor.
Still ignore
the leaning guard and go south up the steps again. You arrive at the depressed
floor again. This time, run down the south-west tunnel to the end. Use the key
to open the door. Follow the ramp down to a room with a save crystal. Go south
into another corridor and follow it to a balcony overlooking a flooded room.
Now you can get the small medipack
from the toilet. Lead the mice back here and let
them drop into the water. Dive into the water and swim to the north-east
corner. Pull up onto the slope, back flip onto a slope, and jump forward to
grab a climbable wall. Climb to the top and hold down the UP ARROW key. Lara
will grab the monkey swing on the ceiling. That is another new move. The camera
view changes to annoying. Monkey swing to the west and drop into a corridor. Follow
the corridor to an opening overlooking the room. Jump down to the south-east
and land on a ledge. If you have
trouble, you can grab the edge and shimmy to the right onto the ledge. Hop onto
the block and pull down a wall switch on the east wall. Get down and jump onto
the east column. Hop back up into the corridor. Go north and see that a column
has risen in the previous room.
Climb the
column and jump up to grab the higher north ledge. Go north and follow the
corridor to a closed door. Open the door and enter the small room. Search the
cabinet and pick up an Ocular Part. Exit the
room and go back to the upper ledge. Save the game before you enter the west
corridor.
Run down the
west corridor and into the room. Run to the right and go around the aquarium. A
guard follows and shoots at you. Climb the
bookcases on the north wall. At the third bookshelf from the top, back flip,
roll, and grab the aquarium. Pull up out of the range of the guard's guns. Dive
into the water and evade the three fish. Swim to
the bottom and pick up the Ruby Cube. Get out
of the aquarium. Safety drop to the floor and run out
the east corridor onto the ledge. Drop to the floor and you are safe. With luck
you can do this and only use one large medipack to
recover. You will return here later. Go east and exit back to the depressed
floor area.
Go to the east
side of the depressed floor. Go to the end of the north-east corridor and open
the door. You enter a room of boxes. Enter the door and go to the left. Pull
back a moveable box three times. Push it south into the opening between the
boxes. Go to the north wall. Pull back a box to the east once and then to the
south once. Get onto that box and push the top west box to the east wall. Hop
onto the box and stand jump into the upper right alcove. Pick up a Red Rose for secret #1.
Get down and jump into the upper left alcove. You can shimmy into the south
alcove for a save crystal. There is a wall switch at the end of the alcove. DO
NOT USE the wall switch yet. It is a single use timed run through lasers for
later. If you use the wall switch now, you need to follow the alternate route
as described below.
Return to the
depressed floor. Enter the south-east corridor. A death figures indicates
something important. Go south into a
short corridor and shoulder force open a door. You enter a room of boxes. Go to
the south-east corner and pull back a box from the east wall. Behind the box is
a key lock. You do not have the key yet. But you know where it should be used.
Exit the room and continue down the east corridor. You come to a lamp. To the
south is a closed door. Go north and follow the corridor to a save
crystal. Pick up a large medipack from the
floor. Ahead of you is a pool of water with a wall switch at the back wall.
Save the game. Run and jump to the wall switch. Mice
drop from the ceiling and nibble your feet. Pull down the timed wall switch.
Wade through the water and then sprint, when possible, back the way you
entered. That door by the lamp is open but it is timed.
Enter the door
and it closes behind you. I ran into the save crystal. Go east and turn to the
right. Enter a small room and search the cabinet for a cloth.
Exit the room and go east and right again into another alcove. Pull down the
jump switch on the west wall. Exit the alcove and hop into the new opening in
the south wall. Follow the corridor through the open door. You are back in the
room with the key lock. In the west end of this room is a save crystal and a
climbable wall for later. Exit the room and go west back to the depressed
floor. Go south up the next steps. Another death figure passes in front of you.
To the west is
another aquarium. To the south is a room
of deadly lasers for later. To the east are steps. Go up the east steps and see
two closed doors. Behind one door is a rose. Place the Ruby Cube into the
receptacle on the east wall. The door to the left opens. Go east and save the
game at the save crystal before you run down a slope into the next room. Run
behind the central structure to the south wall. Four
guards start to shoot you. Pull down the wall switch at the middle of
the south wall. You get a cut scene of spikes in the central room. Run around
to the front of the structure and use the wall switch to the left of the door
and the door opens. Use SHIFT to walk into the spikes. You get no damage if you
walk. The guards attempt to follow you into the room and they die. Walk out of
the room again. Reset the south wall switch to get rid of the spikes. You could
also lure the guards into the room and close the door to lock then inside.
Pull out a box
from the west wall. Hop onto the box and pull up onto the roof of the
structure. Move the box from the south-west corner to the north-west corner.
You get a cut scene of a floor of lasers. Safety drop to the floor. Exit the
room up the slope and return west to the corridor in front of the aquarium.
Now
for the timed lasers.
Return north and into the north-east corridor room again. Climb the boxes and
save the game in front of the timed wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and
get a cut scene of the room and the lasers are off. Jump down from the boxes
and sprint down the corridor, up the steps, and sprint through the lasers. A
block rises at the wall switch so that you cannot do this run again. You get a
cut scene of pistols on a pedestal and a laser floor. There is a room to the
east with a deadly laser floor. Search the cabinet at the west wall for a large medipack.
ALTERNATE
ROUTE: If you do not make the lasers, run back to the room with the boxes and
wall switch. You get a cut scene showing that the wall switch is blocked and
you hear a narration. Return south up the steps to the aquarium. Climb the
south wall beside the aquarium to get onto the top of the aquarium. A block has
dropped in an alcove at the east wall. Jump into the alcove and enter the room.
Pick up a large medipack
from the corner. Pull back two boxes from the east wall and place them on the
box texture at the north and south walls. A block drops in the upper east wall.
This gives you access to the room where you use spikes to kill the guards and
is another route around the lasers. It is also used if you went through the
lasers before you did the Ruby Cube section.
However, assume
that you made it through the lasers after doing the Ruby Cube section. Go to
the north corner of the bookcase and climb up into a tunnel. Go east and see
another save crystal. Ignore the alternate route side tunnel for now. Go east
and drop off the right side of the ledge. Be careful of the laser floor. Go
west and follow the corridor to a wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and
get a cut scene of a door opening and trap doors dropping. Exit and follow the corridor to the
south-east corner. Climb the east wall and shimmy to the right onto a ledge.
Pull back a moveable block from the room with the open door. Hop down and use
the wall switch again to close the door and the trap doors. Climb up again and
push the moveable block over the trap doors and into the south-east corner. You
get a cut scene of the corner below you and the blocks are dropping. Drop into
the corridor and pick up the pistols from the
pedestal. Climb the wall again and return to the corridor with the lasers where
you entered.
Open the door
in the south wall and follow the corridor to a large room. The camera view
annoys you again. Enter either south wall corridor and just follow the ramps
down to a wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and the trap door open under
you. You fall into water. Swim down to the west and pull up into an alcove.
Pull down another wall switch. Swim back and pull up onto a raised block. Climb
the wall and follow the corridor back. Before you enter the room, notice that a
block has dropped in a corner and revealed an urn. Shoot the urn and get a cut
scene of the doors opening back at the rose. You have to get close to the urn
to shoot it.
Exit this room
back to the corridor with the lasers. Climb the bookcase again. Enter the side
tunnel to the north. You enter a room of many boxes. Hop over the boxes to the
east. Look for a wall switch between two boxes at the south wall. Continue east
under an archway. Climb the boxes to the north. Drop into a hole to the right
side and pick up a large medipack.
Hop into the north tunnel and turn around. You can see a medipack
on the box to the south. Jump onto the box to pick up the large medipack and return
to the north tunnel. Go towards the wall switch that you see to the north. Turn
around and run off the boxes and evade three guards.
Run to the wall switch at the south wall. Pul down the wall switch to raise spikes in the middle of the floor. The guards, that you have attracted, walk
into the spikes and die. Reset the switch to get rid of the spikes. If you used
the alternate route, you would have already done this task. If you have the pistols,
you can shoot the guards. Or just leave the area and forget them.
Return to that
upper north tunnel again. The tunnel to the west is the alternate route. Pull
down the wall switch. A block lowers to the north. Go there and drop down onto
a ledge for a small medipack.
Jump across the gap and climb down a wall. Drop into a room that you visited
earlier. Go north over the boxes to exit the room. Go west and then south up
the steps to the aquarium again. First go up the east steps and pick up a Red Rose and secret #2.
Return to the west and jump over the fence at the aquarium. Climb the south
wall and get onto the top of the aquarium. Shoot the three
fish and dive into the water. Pick up a Key
and a large medipack
from the floor. Surface and notice a save crystal and a blocked alcove in the
east wall. The blocked alcove is the alternate route around the laser traps. It
is only open if you used the alternate route.
Safety drop to
the floor. Go north to the depressed floor. Run down the south-east corridor
and enter the first south corridor. Enter the room and jump the boxes to the
south-east corner. Place the key in the key lock. Go west and climb the white
wall near the save crystal. Back flip into a room. Pick up the chloroform from the pedestal. Safety drop to the
floor. Run to the east to exit the room as mice
run after your tail.
Return to the
depressed floor and go north back to where you started the game. Sneak up behind the leaning guard and use the chloroform and cloth. Do not use
pistols. Pick up the Key that the guard drops.
Run out of the room and go up the steps and into the small west corridor that
you ignored at the game start. Run up the ramps and into a balcony. Tightrope walk across the rope. Enter the small room and
place the key in the key lock. A block drops in the east wall. Enter the tunnel
and just climb over the boxes and reach an apparent dead-end.
Push the box in
front of you to the north. Turn to the right and push the box to the west. Hop
up into the tunnel. Drop into a pit and climb up into another tunnel. Look
south and see a jump switch. Grab the ceiling and monkey swing to the south.
Pull down the jump switch and get a cut scene of a block dropping to reveal an
opening in a wall. Pull out the second box from the west wall and push it to
the north. Pull up onto the box to reach the ledge again. Run and jump over the
pit and follow the tunnel back to the room with the key lock. Safety drop from
the column back into the starting corridor. The opening is in the east wall near
where you drop. Hop into the tunnel and go to the end. Pick up an Ocular Part from the pedestal and exit back to the
starting corridor. Face the tightrope column at the east wall. The opening that
you exited is to the right. Notice the room in the east wall to the left of the
column. That is for later. First, you have to back track for more items.
Go south to the
depressed floor. Go to the south-west corridor back to the open door again. Run
down the ramp back to the room with the raised column. Shoot two guards that have appeared. You can go to the
flooded room to drop any mice over the edge. Use the column and pull up onto
the south side of the upper ledge. Turn around and stand jump to the north to
grab a climbable wall. Climb up into a tunnel. Go to the end and pick up a stick from the pedestal. Run out of the tunnel to
land on the ledge. Go into the west tunnel to the first aquarium again. Shoot
the guard and pick up the star from the dead body. You can shoot the fish for
revenge.
Get down from
the ledge and return back to the depressed floor. Go north-east and enter the
room to the left of the tightrope column. Combine the Ocular Pieces to make the
Smaragd Ocular and use it on the post in the middle
of the room. Stand at the north side and face south to place it. Turn around
and see that a north wall section has dropped. Go into the north alcove and
combine the stick and star to make the star. Place it in the receptacle in the
corner. You get a cut scene of a door opening. Exit the room and go north down
the steps towards the starting entrance. The door at the north wall is open.
Enter the door and run north and the camera view changes. Run north into the
next door and the level ends with a cut scene of Lara sleeping on a sofa.
