An Icy Winterdream 2

 

You start by sliding backwards down a slope. Grab the edge and safety drop to the ground. Notice the closed gates at the west wall. Turn around and go east to a pit with a narrow ice bridge. Use CTRL to cross the ice bridge as you would for a tightrope. But at the end, just continue walking onto the east ledge. If you use jump to get off the ice bridge, Lara turns around and starts to go back to the west ledge. Go to the south-east corner and pull up onto the roof of the building. Cross the roof and pick up a large medipack. Safety drop down and enter the building. Follow the tunnel to the end and climb the east wall. You pull up into an outside area and face a pit.

 

Drop into the pit and notice a ceiling trap door at the south wall. Go east to another deep pit. Turn around and slide down the slope of the pit to grab the edge. Safety drop onto a triangular ledge. Stand jump south to the corner ledge. Stand jump to the east to grab the ceiling. Monkey swing east and drop onto a triangular ledge. Stand jump down to a lower north-east corner ledge. Safety drop down into the water. Go to the south-west corner and climb the south wall. Pull up into the tunnel and see an ice wall of fish. Just follow the tunnel upwards and pull up into the higher tunnels when required. Eventually you emerge into a room with five closed doors and four key locks. Notice a globe on the ceiling.

 

Climb the blocks at the south wall and enter the tunnel. You are on the ledge on the other side of the pit. Grab the ceiling and monkey west and then south to the south wall. Monkey swing to the right and then left to drop into a tunnel. Go forward and go to the east to see a fish frozen in the ice wall. Continue and follow the branch tunnel south. Drop into a tunnel with water on the floor. Loop around around the lit wall torch and pick up the torch from the pedestal. Light the torch using the lit wall torch. Go east and just follow the left wall around and you will find five wall torches to light. On the last torch, you get an earthquake. Near the last torch, there is a branch tunnel going west. Follow the tunnel and climb a wall. Pull up through the open trap door and into a cave.

 

There are two paths. First go to the south-west corner and follow the crawl space. At the end, safety drop into a cave with water. You can see a pedestal on an iceberg that you cannot reach. Swim to the north-east corner and pull down an underwater lever on the east wall. Swim down into the hole below the iceberg. Swim north through the open gate and into an underwater tunnel. Follow the tunnel north and notice a triangular hole in the floor. If you have trouble, swim to the north wall, and turn around and you can see a pink light in the triangular hole. Swim to the end of that pink light tunnel and pick up the crowbar. It looks like an axe. Swim out and continue following the underwater tunnel until you are able to stand up.

 

Pull up into an east wall crawl space. Crawl north and follow the tunnel to a room with many presents. Pick up a large medipack off the floor. Pick up a large medipack from the south-east pile of presents. Follow the crawl space back to the tunnel. Climb the south wall and pull up onto a ledge overlooking the iceberg. Run and jump to the south to grab the hanging climbable column. Shimmy around the corner to the right. Climb down and safety drop onto the top of the iceberg. Pick up a blue key (called load) from the pedestal. Run and jump to grab the east wall under the crawl space. Climb up and crawl back to where you started.

 

To the north-east is the other branch icy tunnel. First climb down the north ladder to the tunnel with the lit torches. Follow the tunnel back to the wall with the frozen fish. Use the crowbar to pry the frozen fish off the wall. The fish (called load) is invisible in the menu. Return to the tunnel with the lit torches and climb the ladder again. This time follow the north-east branch icy tunnel. The tunnel walls change from ice to bricks. Follow this tunnel to a small room. At the south wall are three doorways. The left doorway is a drop going down into a tunnel. The middle doorway has a ramp going up. The right doorway has a closed trap door.

 

Enter the middle doorway and go up the ramp. You enter an icy room. Get onto the back ledge above the door and pick up a torch from the many torches that are there. Get down and light the torch on the wall torch in the north-west corner. Bring the lit torch with you. Exit this room and go down the ramp.

 

Enter the left doorway and follow the tunnel to a room with a sleeping bear. The camera view changes so you can notice the floor pattern at the east wall. Go there and put your back to the east wall. Place you feet in the footsteps and hit CTRL. Lara places the fish on the fish design on the floor. The bear wakes up and eats the fish. Pick up the torch and enter the tunnel that the bear was blocking. You enter a room with barrels of black powder and a black powder trail on the floor. To ignite the black powder, stand beside it and use END to roll over the black spot at the room entrance. The black powder ignites and the barrels explode to open up a passage in the east wall.

 

Enter the new room and jump up into the south wall alcove. Pick up the bag of magical dust from in front of the owl. You placed it there in part 1. Get down and go to the opposite north wall. Climb the north wall and back flip into a tunnel. Go to the south wall and pick up a small medipack and a large medipack from the floor. Pick up flares from the pile of presents to your right. The flares do not show in the inventory so you cannot use them. Go west to exit the room and jump over the gap to the west ledge. Pick up a large medipack and a small medipack from the pile of presents in front of you. Pull down the hard-to-see wall switch on the south wall of the alcove. You hear a gate open. Drop down to the floor. You may remember the room to the east if you did part 1. Go west and follow the tunnel. Go past the bear and exit this room.

 

Enter the middle doorway again and go up the ramp. You enter the icy room again. Go to the south and enter the open gate. Pick up the yellow key (called load) from the pedestal. Exit this room and go down the ramp. Notice the shield over the middle doorway. That is actually a cleverly disguised jump switch. Pull down that jump switch and the trap door opens in the right doorway.

 

Drop into the trap door into the room below. There are many piles of presents in this room. Examine the piles of presents and pick up three small medipacks and two large medipacks. Pick up the alethiometer or golden compass (called load) from the post in the middle of the room. The gate opens in the west wall. Enter the west wall alcove and pick up the green key (called load) from the pedestal. Pull up through the trap door to exit this room.

 

Go into the north tunnel and follow the tunnel back through the icy tunnel and into the cave. Go down the north wall ladder and follow the tunnel with the lit torches. Go down the ramp to the ice wall of fish. This time take the west tunnel. You reach a cave and a trap door opens. Safety drop and you are back into the cave above the pit. Go to the north-west corner and pull up onto the north wall. Go to the west wall and climb down the long ladder. Follow the tunnel to the starting building. Tightrope walk across the ice bridge again. Go to the west wall and use the crowbar to open the right side gate. Enter the alcove and pick up the red key (called load) off the pedestal.

 

Go east over the ice bridge again. Enter the building and climb the wall again. Go east and drop into the hole. Work you way down the triangular ledges to the bottom of the pit again. Climb the south wall and follow the tunnel to the room with the gates and key locks again. Use the four keys and four gates open. Inside each alcove is a moveable globe. Look at the floor near the middle of the cave. Four snow textures appear smoother than most of the remaining snow textures. Move the four globes onto the four smoother textures. I do not think that the order is important. When a globe is in place, some electrical arcs appear. When the four globes are placed, an earthquake happens and the gate in the east wall slowly opens.

 

Enter the open gate and go to the back wall. Climb the wall and back flip into a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a room with a sun design on the floor. Stand at the east side of the clear center portion and face west.  Use CTRL and Lara places the bag of magical dust onto the clear center. Return through the tunnel to the room below. A hole has appeared in the center of the floor of the room under the ceiling globe. Drop into the hole and follow the tunnel to the east and the level ends.

 

Epilogue

This is one long cut scene of Lara riding away on the bear. Then Lara wakes up in bed and walks towards a stuffed bear in her bedroom. There is an outside flyby of the house and Winston in the snow as the level ends.
