The New Atlantis

Start by sliding down a slope. A trap door opens and you drop into a large water filled room. The trap door closes behind you. Swim to the east wall and pull open the underwater door. Enter the underwater tunnel. Swim to the end and pull the underwater lever. Exit back to the large room and swim to the south-west corner. Pull the underwater lever on the column. Now swim into the open door in the south-east corner. Follow the underwater tunnel up and surface for air but do not pull up onto the ledge yet. Return to the large room and pull the underwater level on the north-east column. Pick up a shotgun from the center of the floor and return to the south-east again to surface for air.

 

Dive into the water again and swim into the upper crawl space in the east wall. It can be difficult to get inside. Swim into a room and dive down into the north-west corner to pick up the Star Chip from the floor. Exit and surface for air. Pull up onto the ledge and shoot a flying panther mummy above the lava pit. It is difficult and takes patience. Do not let the mummy get near you, as the mummy is poisonous. Go south to the end of the ledge. Stand a little left of the center of the tile and face east. Run and jump to the east to grab the horizontal pole. Spin around and release to grab the second horizontal pole. Spin around and release to grab the third horizontal pole. Spin around and release and land in a tunnel. The slopes and other poles are a way back in case you forgot to pick up the Star Chip. Go east in the tunnel and place the Star Chip in the receptacle.

 

Enter the open door and follow the new tunnel. Shoot a panther mummy and pick up a Heart. Place the Heart in the receptacle and a trap door opens. Save the game and safety drop into the room with an Atlantis creature. Evade the creature and run to the middle left section of the south wall and pull down the wall switch. Run to the center of the room and pick up a Heart that has appeared. Run to the center of the west wall and place the Heart in the receptacle. Evade the Atlantis creature, centaur mummy and panther mummy and also avoid falling pieces of the ceiling. There is a line that Falstaff says in Henry IV that "He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day". Take the advice and hop onto the raised block at the north wall. The enemies can also climb onto the block with you, so be careful. Pull up back into the entrance tunnel.  Ignore the enemies in the room below and jump over the open trap door.

 

Do not enter the next room yet. Jump up and down at the entrance and shoot the panther mummy at the back of the room. Pull up into the room and pick up the crowbar from the floor. Search the floor area for two Uzi ammo. Pull out the four obvious moveable blocks from the walls and push them aside to get the blocks out of your way. You have exposed four side tunnels and rooms. Sometimes the blocks can only be pushed in one direction and for only just for one tile.

 

The south-east room is empty.

 

Enter the south-west tunnel and follow the tunnel to pick up a Skeleton Key from the floor.

 

Enter the north-east tunnel and follow the tunnel to the end. Use the Skeleton Key in the receptacle. Exit and see an open door in the south tunnel. Ignore it for now and exit back to the main room.

 

Enter the north-west tunnel and push a moveable block to the west. Pick up secret #1 and an Uzi. Before I used the Skeleton Key, this block would not move. Follow the tunnel to the end and use the crowbar to pry an item (???) off the south wall. It appears as three question marks in the inventory and has no picture. Exit back to the main room.

 

Enter the north-east tunnel again and enter the new open door in the south tunnel. Save the game and step on the breakable tiles. Hop back into the tunnel. Look down and see several horizontal poles above the lava pit. Slide down about two tiles and jump forward to grab the first upper horizontal pole. Spin to grab two more horizontal poles and finally land in a tunnel. A lava rock falls behind you as you are sliding down the slope. You can also spin on the lower poles to land on a slope. It may be possible to pull up, back flip roll, and use the lower poles to get back near the start to use the upper poles correctly. But I could never do it. Pick up the revolver and revolver ammo from the floor.

 

Slide down the north slope and land on a ledge. Shoot the two flying panther mummies above the lava pit. At this point, everything will disappear occasionally and will appear black. This makes it hard to see where you are and to find the enemies. Use pistols to jump up and shoot the hanging gong at the upper south wall to the left of the entrance ramp. Look to the east and see that a block has risen in the lava pit. Run and jump to grab the horizontal pole to the east. Spin and release to grab the raised column. Pull up and use another horizontal poles to go north onto a column. Slide down and jump to a block. Stand jump to grab the next column and pull up. Pull down the jump switch in the corner.

 

Stand jump to the west to grab the horizontal pole. Spin and grab a second horizontal pole and finally land near a moveable block. Shoot the flying panther mummy above the lava pit. Push the moveable block to the west. Pull down the wall switch on the north wall. Use the raised south column to move the moveable block onto the colorful center floor tile. Run and jump to the west to grab a horizontal pole. Spin and jump forward to land on a sloped block. Jump south to grab the horizontal pole. Spin and release to grab the edge of a large column. Pick up a large medipack. Stand jump to grab the south horizontal pole. Use the next two horizontal poles and land in a tunnel.

 

Follow the tunnel and slide down a slope into a large room. You best hope is to run east to climb the short ladder into a tunnel. From here you can patiently shoot two panther mummies as they run around the floor of the room. Notice the two large water wheels in the room. Follow the tunnel to the east. Slide down a slope and pick up revolver ammo and two shotgun wideshot ammo. Go east and enter a maze. This is hard because the walls occasionally disappear. Go north and then east to the end of the tunnel. Go south one tile and then east into a small alcove to pick up the Cog Wheel off the floor. Return to the room with the water wheels. Stand jump over the entrance slope to get back to the ladder.

 

You see a closed timed door in the south wall. Go to the west wall and then go south to climb a ladder onto a ledge. You find another receptacle. Climb down the blocks on the other side and land in front of a gear train. Save the game for a timed run. You have two choices.

 

Choice 1: Place the Cog Wheel and climb the blocks back up onto the ledge. Jump down the other side and loop around to the left into the open door.

 

Choice 2: Place the Cog Wheel and just run through the moving water wheel. Loop around to the left and into the open door.

 

You enter a maze and the door closes behind you. Ignore the wall switch that you see. Again the walls disappear but this makes it easy to see the location of the item that you need. Go south to a T-junction Go west and make a small jog and go west to a moveable block. Push the block once to the west. Return east to the jog and follow the south tunnel. You reach a junction with two blocks. Pull back the west block once to the east. Return to the first block and follow the tunnel south. Just follow the tunnel and go left to the end and pick up the Gold Idol. Return to the wall switch that you ignored earlier. Pull down the wall switch and reset it again to open the closed door.

 

Exit back into the room with the water wheels. Climb the ladder to the receptacle on the ledge. Place the Gold Idol and drop to the floor. Go east and climb the long ladder and pull up into a tunnel. I do not think this door was timed but the door will close behind you. Pick up six small medipacks, three large medipacks, revolver ammo, Uzi, five Uzi ammo, and shotgun normal ammo. Save the game before you enter the room.

 

It is difficult to give reasonable directions because the room kept blacking out.  Inside the room is an Atlantis creature and five centaur mummies. There are five wall switches on five columns around the room. The blackouts help here because you can see the locations of the five wall switches. East of the entrance is a shotgun on the floor. Continue east to kill a centaur mummy and pull down wall switch #1. Continue east into the corner for Uzi ammo. Go south a little to kill a centaur mummy and pull down wall switch #2 on a corner column.

 

Go south into the corner for a large medipack near the closed door. Kill two centaur mummies and pull down wall switch #3 on the nearby column. Go west to the wall to kill a centaur mummy. Pick up three Uzi ammo and go north to pull down wall switch #4 on a column. On the other side of that column you can find a revolver on the floor.  Wall switch #5 is on a column near the same corner area of the Uzi ammo.

 

You can pick up more medipacks and ammo as you run around the center of the room to evade the Atlantis creature. But watch out for pieces of falling ceiling in the central area. I do not know if the creature can be killed. It bleeds but it must take a long time as I ran out of powerful ammo and had to use the pistols. After pulling all five wall switches, run into the south-east corner. Enter the open door on the right side. On the left side, the ceiling falls on your head. Run south and jump into the blackness and the level ends.
