Kabul, Afghanistan - Escape From Laboratories
You start in a corridor. Shoot the boxes in front of you and go west. Notice two receptacles at the sides of a closed gate. Continue forward and climb a wall. Drop onto a ledge and notice a closed trap door to the south. There is a brown wall to the north that Lara says "No" when you use CTRL in front of it. Go west through the shallow water in the tunnel. Pick up a small medipack in the middle section of the water. Pull down a ceiling trap door and pull up into a dark area. The camera view changes to overhead. Go south into the corner alcove. Shoot a box and pick up flares. Go to the north corner alcove. Climb the ladder on the column and pick up grenade super ammo for secret #1. The inventory ring seems to be extremely slow or stepping pixel-by-pixel when it moves. This is a real annoyance when you need to select anything. However, if you rename or delete the "inventory.bmp" file in the "Screens" sub-directory, this stepping problem goes away.
Run and jump to grab the column to the south. Pull up and pick up Viper SMG poison ammo. Get down and jump over the fire in the trench and into the south wall alcove. Press the big white button on the wall. Jump back to the bridge and go west. Climb the raised block and pull up onto a column. Shoot a box and pick up Uzi ammo. Get down and drop into the trench. I ignored the guard but I guess that you can shoot him. Go north to a dark area with a tubular column. Go behind the fence at the west wall. Shoot a box and pick up flares. Go north and stop in front of a deep pit. Go onto the west ledge and go forward. Grab the climbable wall and climb down into the pit. Go to the south-west corner. Climb the south wall and shimmy to left to drop onto a ledge. Either safety drop or climb down a wall ladder into the next pit.
Shoot two empty boxes and stand on the colorful tile in the south-west corner. A block drops in the pit in the center of the floor. Drop into the pit and time a crawl through a crawl space with a steam emitter. Follow the tunnel to emerge into a large cavern. Safety drop onto the floor. Go east and down the large tunnel. Go to the end and pick up a crowbar and Desert Eagle ammo off the floor. Exit the tunnel and return to the large cavern. Run up the mound of earth as far as possible and stand jump to grab the north ledge. Pull up onto the ledge. Push the middle box to the west and pick up Oil #1. Pull back the east box and pick up grenade frag ammo. Safety drop to the ground. Go to the north-east corner of the cavern and pick up a small medipack. Pull up back into the tunnel in the upper south wall.
Save the game and then crawl past the stream emitter again. Immediately drawn your pistols and shoot a thug. Climb out of the pit and shoot a thug on the high north ledge. Climb the north wall ladder and pull up onto that north ledge. You should find Uzi ammo that was dropped by the thug. Drop into the next pit and shoot a thug for Uzi ammo. Jump and grab the west wall. Shimmy to the left and climb the wall ladder to the top. Shimmy to the right and drop onto a ledge. Go south and shoot a thug. The guard at the far end of the trench did not help at all. Go back to the trench entrance area. Back flip onto a slope and jump forward and grab the edge and pull up. Go east through the shallow water again.
Drop down to the north and use the crowbar to open the door. Enter the room and see a broken sentry gun. Pick up grenade ultra ammo from the water pool. Shoot the boxes and pick up Oil #2 from the floor. Save the game before you exit the room. Exit through the doorway and shoot a thug on the upper east ledge. Climb up then and go east to the two receptacles. Place the two oil cylinders in the two receptacles and the gate opens. Hop back and evade a zombie but do not enter the gate yet. Go west and climb the wall again. This time look down to the south and see that the trap door is open.
Drop into the tunnel and walk forward to get secret #2. Grab the ceiling and monkey swing over the fire pit. The gate opens as you approach. Enter the room and the gate closes. Shoot a rat and go up the ledges to the top. Shoot the boxes and go behind them in one corner for grenade super ammo. Pick up a large medipack in the opposite corner and the gate opens again. Get down the ledges and monkey swing back over the fire pit. Climb the ledges and go east to the open gate.
Evade the zombie again as you enter the gate. Run north down the tunnel and the gate opens at the end as you approach. Loop around to the left and shoot the fuse box. Pull down the switch and the door closes. This should leave the zombie outside in the tunnel. Now follow the other wall to the right side. Follow the wall and go behind an empty bookshelf to pick up the laser sight off the floor. You hear a trap door drop open.
Go to the open trap door at the west wall. Do not press the pushbutton on the console behind you. That raises barbed wire in the tunnel and you cannot enter this room again. Go to the east side of the room and move the black wire cage there to underneath the trap door opening. At some point during the move, the gate opens and the zombie entered the room. The zombie can climb onto the cage, so be careful. Pull up into the open trap door. Go around the pipe and follow the steps up to the west. Go down the steps to the end of the tunnel. Pick up Viper SMG normal ammo from the floor. Face east and lift up the floor trap door from the west side.
Safety drop into a lower room. Shoot the boxes and pick up Desert Eagle ammo. Go north and ignore the closed door for now. Continue north to see a closed tall gate and a key lock. Climb the north wall and shimmy to the right at the top. Drop into a corridor and go west. Get into a crawl space and get a cut scene of a sentry gun. Some wall sections are transparent. You can see but not crawl through them. Crawl north and stand up to shoot three fuse boxes. Pull the switch on the last fuse box and the gate opens. Enter the next corridor and do not shoot the guard. Unless he shoots at you, of course. The woman in the room is in a daze and starting into space. Ignore her as well.
Stand next to the yellow sign on the south wall and jump up to grab a ledge. Pull up into the tunnel and shoot a rat. Crawl under the traveling laser trap and drop into a room. Use CTRL to open a small blue box and pick up Uzi's. Pull up into the tunnel again. Crawl to the end and pick up a small medipack. You can see the sentry gun from the cut scene below you. Crawl back out and safety drop to the floor.
Go west and shoot two fuse boxes to reveal a pushbutton. Press the timed pushbutton on the wall and timed blocks rises in the west end of the room. Pull up into the next corridor and run around to avoid a flock of bats (locusts). First go to the crawl space in the dark south-west corner. Lure out a rat and shoot it. You can also see a pushbutton in the crawl space. Go north around a second pushbutton and find a crawl space in the lower north wall. Crawl through and drop into a room. Pick up grenade frag ammo and grenade super ammo from the floor. Quickly climb back into the crawl space to avoid a herd of mice (beetles). Now return to the pushbuttons for a very tight double timed run.
First press the pushbutton on the column. This opens a timed door in the upper south wall. Get onto the slope near the east wall and jump up to shoot the box in the open gate. Now get into the dark crawl space in the south-west corner. Save the game in front of a very tight timed run. Press the pushbutton, turn to the right, run, crouch, and crawl back into the corridor. A block has risen at the south wall. Run and jump north and press the second timed pushbutton on the column. Back flip with roll, run south, and jump onto the leading edge of the raised block. Stand jump into the timed open gate as it closes on your butt. This seemed to take thousands of tries. There was a savegame in the TRLE forums but the thread has been lost. I have given a savegame after the timed run.
You face some empty bookshelves. Shoot the boxes and go between the bookshelves to pick up grenade ultra ammo. Stay near the west wall and go to the south-west corner. Open the small blue box and get the Viper SMG. Go to the opening in the east wall and shoot the thug below. Drop onto the lower ledge and go the left open gate. There is a pole there that you can grab and slide down to the floor. There is a sentry gun on the ledge behind the column. You need full health for the next maneuver. Run and jump onto the north-east ledge. The sentry gun will shoot at you. Crawl against the wall and go south. Ignore the key for now. Drop to the lower floor. Open the small blue box to get a small medipack and a large medipack. Pull up onto the ledge and the next higher ledge. Go to the south-east corner and shoot the trashcan. You get secret #3 and Viper SMG explosive ammo. Now go back and get the key. Crawl north and stay against the wall. Approach the key straight from the wall and not at an angle. Get into the crouch position and pick up Weaves to Doors key. Crawl back to the ledge wall and the sentry gun will shoot fire that will miss you. I have given a savegame after getting the key.
Crawl back to the south corner before you stand up. Jump down to the floor. Climb the pole and back flip into the upper room. Go north and the gate has opened again. Safety drop into the corridor. Drop into the lower corridor and go east to find the entrance tunnel. Return through the crawl space again and climb down the wall.
Go south and press a pushbutton on the panel to open the door in the west wall. Go to the end of the tunnel and pull back a wire cage #1 as far as possible. Exit back to the corridor. Use the key in the key lock to open the tall gate. Enter the tunnel and pull back wire cage #2 at the end. Jump over wire cage #2 and push wire cage #3 to the south into a tunnel. Go west and press a pushbutton to open the gate beside you. Enter the tunnel and pull back wire cage #3 once. Go around the cage and enter the same tunnel to push wire cage #1 to the east. Return and push wire cage #3 east up against wire cage #1. Push back wire cage #2 to its original position. Hop over the cage and pull wire cage #2 south into the long tunnel. Loop around through the open gate and pull wire cage #2 west once. Loop around through the open gate again and push wire cage #2 west to the end of the long tunnel.
Hop onto the cage and pull up onto a high ledge. Crouch down and shoot a rat in the lower crawl space. Go through the crawl space and drop at the end. Slide down the slope and into a long room with vending machines and empty bookshelves. There is a closed gate in the west wall. Go between the bookshelves and pick up Viper SMG explosive ammo. Press the two pushbuttons on the north wall to open two doors.
Enter the left door and open a small blue box. Pick up Uzi's, laser scope, Desert Eagle ammo, and Desert Eagle. A fence opens beside you. Enter the gate and go north into the tunnel. Weave between the traveling laser traps. Pull up onto a ledge and drop into the next room. Go forward and get a flyby of the room. The guard ignores you unless you shoot him. Go east and open the small blue box for grenade ultra ammo. Go to the south-west corner for Uzi ammo. Go to the north-west corner and save the game in front of the timed pushbutton. Press the pushbutton and jump onto the timed raised block in the middle of the room. Jump up to grab a climbable wall to the north. Climb up, back flip, and roll to grab a south ledge. Pull up and go south to shoot a rat. Crawl under a pipe and pick up a large medipack. Crawl back and press the pushbutton on the east wall to open the door beside you.
Enter the open door and down the steps. Pick up Uzi ammo and shoot a dog. At the bottom, press another pushbutton to open a door. You get a cut scene of a thug leaning on a wall. Turn around and shoot a thug on the steps and pick up Uzi ammo. Shoot the leaning thug and pick up Battery #1. Go to the north-east section of the room and pick up a small medipack from the floor. Exit the room, go up the steps and climb down the wall. Drop into the room below and shoot a robot. Go south and evade the traveling laser traps. Return to the room with the vending machines.
Enter the right door and pick up Viper SMG explosive ammo on the left side of the entrance. Climb the north wall and pull up onto a ledge in a large cavern. There is a pit with a water pool in the middle and a second leaning guard. Go north and shoot an empty box. Grab the edge of the north slope and shimmy to the right. Shimmy past the box before you pull up. Go south into the bush in the corner. You get secret #4 and pick up grenade ultra ammo. Drop into the pit and shoot the leaning thug to pick up Uzi ammo. Dive into the water and swim into the north-east corer. Pick up a small medipack off the bottom. Swim west and pull down the timed underwater lever to open the timed trap door beside you.
Swim into the open trap door and swim west. Swim up near the ceiling to avoid the small propeller. Swim into a large pool with a current. Swim to the right or left and stay near the wall to avoid a large propeller. Pull up onto a ledge and shoot a thug. Turn around and shoot the two fish in the pool that attacked you. If you go north the view changes from the other side of the wall. Go behind the broken sentry gun at the south wall. Open the small blue box and pick up Uzi's. There is Viper SMG normal ammo in the alcove at the south-east corner of the water pool. Shoot the fuse box in the west wall. Pull down the switch and hear a trap door open.
Dive into the water hole beside the fuse box. Swim down the underwater tunnel and enter a large underwater tunnel. Weave between the traveling laser traps or swim near the ceiling to avoid them. Swim into a small room and swim around in a counter clockwise direction. You should find Uzi ammo and Battery #2 on the ledges. Avoid a fish and laser traps again. Pull up into the room again. Shoot two thugs and pick up two Uzi ammo from the bodies. One thug and ammo fell into the water hole. Dive into the large water pool and swim east. Avoid the large and small propellers again. Swim to the east wall and pull down an underwater lever to open the trap door above your head. I had to pull the underwater lever twice. It may have been timed and I was just too slow the first time. Swim up and pull up back into the pit. Go to the middle section of the south ledge and pull up onto the ledge. Go west to climb down the ladder. Return to the room with the vending machines.
Use the Viper SMG explosive ammo to destroy a zombie. Go to the west wall corners and place the two batteries in the two receptacles on the side walls. The gate opens in the west wall. Enter the gate and the gate closes. In the next room, pick up grenade super ammo from the shallow water with the dead bodies. Return to the east ledge and press the two pushbuttons on the side walls. The gate opens in the west wall. Pull up into the tunnel and destroy a zombie. Follow the tunnel and destroy another zombie. You enter a room with boxes.
Drop down and press the pushbutton on the box to your left. Go around the boxes and press a pushbutton on the south wall. Climb on a box and jump onto the upper south-west ledge. Press the pushbutton on the south wall. Now use the box again to get onto the upper east ledge. Press the two pushbuttons on the north and south walls. The gate opens in the east wall. Before you enter the gate, safety drop to the floor. Go west into a tunnel. Press a pushbutton on the wall to open the gate at the end. Enter a small room and pull back the two barrels from the south wall. Pick up Desert Eagle ammo and Viper SMG normal ammo. Exit the room and get onto the east ledge again.
Enter the open door and slide down a slope. A fire starts on the floor. Put your nose to the south wall and side jump to the right and over the fire. Follow the tunnel to a water pool with traveling laser traps. Dive into the water and swim south. Swim behind and down behind the structure. Be careful of a traveling laser and pull down an underwater lever. The trap doors open above you. Surface and be careful of the steam emitters when you pull up onto a ledge. Go south as the gates open. Jump into a south alcove and pick up Desert Eagle ammo. Use the Desert Eagle and laser sight to destroy the sentry gun that you can see through a slot to the south-east.
Drop to the floor and go to the south side of the structure. Shoot a fuse box on the wall. Pull down the switch and a gate opens above and behind you. Stand on the block and run and jump to grab the south wall opening. Pull up and go forward to a slot. Shoot the yellow light that you see at the far end of the slot. Jump down to the alcove where the sentry gun was located. Stand jump to the grab the upper east ledge. Pull up into a corridor. Pull back the body of the dead guard and pick up Viper SMG normal ammo. Go west to the entrance. Run and jump to pull down a jump switch on the west wall. You get a cut scene of a creature running around in a room. Use the blocks and alcoves again to return to the upper tunnel. You can see the creature running behind the closed gate in the north wall.
Go east to the open gate. Safety drop into the room with the shallow water. A flock of bats start to attack. You can shoot the empty trashcan in the corners of the room. I found it better to go around the sides of the room. If you go through the center, the camera view changes to disorientate you. Pull up into a wide tunnel in the upper east wall. Shoot a thug at the far end. You can safely run under the traveling laser trap. Run east and get a cut scene of a creature. When you get control, shoot the creature in the tunnel. Pull back the dead body of a guard in the dark south-east tile and pick up the Uzi ammo.
Go to the south-west corner and pull out a block from the south wall. Push the block under the door in the upper east wall. Go into the south-west alcove and press the pushbutton on the south wall. The door opens above the block. Either destroy or ignore two zombies. Hop onto the block and pull up into a tunnel. Go east to the end of the tunnel. Pick up the grenade gun and the gate opens in front of you. Jump over a hole and slide down a slope. You land in a corridor and a gate closes behind you. Shoot a dog and a robot. Follow the corridor south and shoot another robot. Follow the corridor to a ledge over a parking garage. Jump down to the floor and the level ends by crashing to the desktop.
