[Note] This level is very dark. You can use the binoculars for light until the flare bug starts and the light is not useable. [End note]

You start in a dark street, probably at sunset. You can see a ramp at the side of a building ahead of you. Go to the north-west and pull down the wall switch to open the gate beside it. You get a flyby of the huge area of a walled town with a moat around it. Enter the gate and face a moat. Stand on a bridge and shoot eight crocodiles before you dive into the water. Swim around the moat and pick up a large medipack, explosive crossbow ammo, small medipack, and revolver ammo. Swim back to the bridge and enter the open gate to return to the starting point.

 

Go east, either up the ramp or around it. There is a closed door at the top of the ramp. Continue east and you should pass a closed tall door. Go left and then right in the next opening in the wall. Continue east to an area with a chair-like statue in the middle. Shoot three lions that have followed you. To the east you can see the moat through another opening in the town wall. If you use the light from the binoculars you can see five unlit wall torches in the area. From the statue area, you can go north and find a closed door needing an item and then return to the statue area. Go south-west and climb over a wall. Ahead of you should be a building with a burning pedestal. Go beside the pedestal and shoot the two crocodiles that have appeared in the trench in front of the building.

 

Look into the trench to the west of the building. You should see two dark green squares next to the path towards the building. Follow the trench to the back of the building and you find two large green moveable towers. Push the two towers onto the two squares. They seem to be order specific. Move the south-east corner tower onto the north square. Move the tower behind the building onto the south square. If you are correct, you get a cut scene of a gate opening. If not, exchange the towers. Go west and follow the path to the right side of the yellow building. Two lions will attack you. Go south-west around the high wall and loop around to the north. Jump through the opening in the high wall ahead of you. Turn to the right and you can see the open gate in the corner.

 

Enter the building and use the floor lever near the back wall. You get a cut scene of the fire stopping at the burning pedestal. Return there and pick up a torch from the pedestal. Take the torch and follow the path west and then south-west again. Do not go around the wall but loop to the left and into the yellow building. A wraith will follow you. Go east into the next small room and drop the torch. Pull down a jump switch on the west wall to open the gate in the room. Enter the gate and follow the tunnel to a room. Go west and loop around to the right. Follow the corridor and go past the room with the shallow water pool. Just follow the corridor to a column with a skull on top of it. Crouch down beside the column until the wraith explodes. Go back and get the torch and enter the gate again. Go back to the first room and light the torch on either lit wall torch.

 

Take the lit torch and exit the building. Loop around to the right and follow the path back to the trench with the towers. Go north and stand jump onto the block at the north wall. Jump down and go north to the chair-like statue again. Stand in front of the statue.

 

There is a wall torch on a column to the south.

There is a wall torch on a column to the south-west near the wall opening.

There is a wall torch on a column to the north-west near the wall opening.

There are two wall torches on two columns to the north.

 

Light all five wall torches and you hear a door open. Go west through the opening in the wall. Go left and then right to find the open tall door. Enter the building and you hear a trap door dropping. Follow the steps down to the end. You can see a large room to the north. The floor is deadly and that is where the trap door dropped. Go south and drop into another room. Go east and then north to get behind a column. Pull down the wall switch on the column. You can hear the trap door rise. Look into the room while you are here to see where you should go. You can go back the way you came and slide down onto the open trap door. Or just run and jump to grab the open trap door from where you are.

 

Run and jump to grab the central column. Then run and jump into the next room to the north. As you enter the room, a wall rises in the north-east corner. Shoot four wall panels on the west wall to reveal four wall switches. As you face the openings, number the openings as #1 to #4 from left to right. Pull down the wall switch in the opening #3. This lowers the wall that was raised when you entered. The other switches raise spike traps. Go to the north-east corner and notice an upper crawl space in the east wall alcove.

 

Enter the room in the north-east corner. Back flip onto the slope and jump forward to grab the column. Pull up onto the column and pull down the wall switch. Get down and go west through a newly descended wall section and into the next room. Back flip onto the slope and jump forward to grab the column. Pull up onto the column and pull down the timed wall switch. Get down and exit the room. Climb the timed block in the east wall alcove and pull up into a dark crawl space. Follow the crawl space around and stand up into a room with many fire emitters. The famous flare bug is now in effect so your flares are useless.

 

Get past the first fire emitter and go to the end of the ledge. Drop down to the east onto another ledge. Jump and follow the ledges around and go north over the deadly floor. Finally drop into a tunnel and enter a gate that opens as you approach. Enter another dark tunnel and go south and east to see a slope in front of you. Jump onto the slope and back flip off as a spike rolls in front of you. Get on the slope and go south. Step on the skeleton on the floor and hop back to avoid another spike ball from the east slope. When it passes, go up the east slope. Jump over a fire trap and go south in a tunnel to see a small pit in the floor to the left. Pull up into an upper crawl space on the wall to your right that is opposite that small pit. Drop down on the other side. You need to throw a flare for light. Search the floor of the alcoves and pick up a crossbow, flares, large medipack and two small medipacks. Crawl back out into the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to the end. You face a deep deadly pit. There are two choices.

 

Choice 1: Run and jump to the west slope and slide down. Grab the edge and shimmy to the left. Pull up, and back flip and jump between slopes with a left curve. You will eventually reach a flat section. Run and jump to land on the ledge with columns in the next room. Go around to the right side and see a wraith stuck on the floor. Do not go east or the wraith is active. Face north and take one step from the edge. Hop back and delay the grab so that you land on the ledge below. You are in front of a wall switch.

 

If you want, you can go to the east end of the upper ledge. This activates the wraith. Run and jump to grab a crevice in the east wall. Shimmy to the left and drop onto a block. Run and jump into the alcove at the west wall. Go north and pick up a small medipack. Go east and drop into the water. Pull up and go east into the next water hole. Swim south and loop around to the right to find the column and skull to get rid of the wraith. Then go back to the wall switch.

 

Choice 2: Run and jump to the west slope and slide down. Grab the edge and pull up. Back flip onto the east slope and slide down. Delay the grab so that you do not grab the west ledge but glide down into the water pool below. Pull out and go south and run and jump over the fires. Go to the right and run around to the south side of the structure. Climb the blocks and you are in front of a wall switch.

 

Pull down the wall switch and get down to the floor. Go north and go over the fires that are now stopped. Climb the west wall ladder and back flip onto a column. Jump to a north column. Go into the east tunnel and save the game in front of a timed wall switch. Pull down the timed wall switch and go west to the column. Run and jump south onto the floor. Go south and turn to the east after the fires that stopped. Go east and then north-east and hop onto a block. Run and jump the blocks to the north. Get onto the timed raised column and through the timed upper open door before it closes.

 

Go north and a gate opens in the north wall. Notice the wall ladder with a trap door at the top. In the next room, run and jump around to activate the blade traps in the floor. Go north and pick up the laser sight from the pedestal. Pull down the wall switch in the south-west corner to open the trap door. Exit the room and climb the ladder. Back flip into a tunnel and destroy two skeletons. Go south and ignore the first branch tunnel. In the next section go south to a T-junction and turn to the west. Go west to a T-junction and go south to exit the maze through the open gate. Pull up to the wall behind you. To the east is the chair-like statue again.

 

Go to the north wall and turn to the west. Follow the wall to the north-west corner. There is a small medipack on the ground in the dark corner. Shoot the approaching crocodile. Go south and climb up the sloped wall. Then drop down the other side of the wall. Go south to return to the starting area. Continue south and jump over a short wall. Go south to a building and shoot the door grate to break it. Shoot three bats and shoot the box at the back wall to pick up the revolver. Exit the building and go east to return to the yellow building with the pool in the basement. Go down the steps into the lower room. Loop around to the right and follow the corridor to the room with the shallow water pool.

 

Go to the west wall and pick up revolver ammo off the floor. Combine the revolver and laser sight to shoot a dark blue tile in the pool. It is below the ceiling tile with the cracks on it. Dive into the water and pick up the Golden Vraeus from the hole. To exit the water, stand near the side. Use JUMP and the UP ARROW to get onto the ledge. A simple pull up always threw Lara back into the pool. Exit the building and go east and climb over the north wall again to get back to the chair-like statue again. Go north to the next building. Use the Golden Vraeus in the receptacle to open the closed door.

 

Enter the building and see a closed gate ahead of you. Climb the pole that is to the left of the door. Back flip onto an upper floor. Go west and destroy two skeletons. Avoid the steam emitters and climb another pole. Back flip onto a higher floor. Go east to pick up a small medipack and destroy two skeletons. Return to the second pole and be careful of the spike trap. Jump onto the north-west ledge. Grab the edge and shimmy to the left as far as possible. Release and drop to grab a lower unseen crevice. Shimmy to the left and around the corner. Drop onto a safe part of the floor.

 

Get pass the three swinging chains. Drop into a corner hole and land in the room below. Pull down the wall switch on the west wall. You get a flyby back to the open door at the top of the ramp near where you started. Go east over the floor and through the open gate. Exit the door and go south to the chair-like statue. Go east through the opening in the wall. Go left and then to the right. Continue west up the ramp and enter the open door. Go forward and the level ends.
