[Note] The game file is called BlackDream.exe and not the usual tomb4.exe. Compass directions are reversed from reality. Directions are given using the red compass pointer. There are also new moves for Lara. [End note]


Level 1: Lara's Home

This is a training area for Lara's new moves. Go forward and climb the ladder and follow the spoken instruction. Run and jump to grab the west slope and shimmy to the right. Tap the DOWN ARROW to turn around and jump to grab a crevice on the east column. Tap the ALT key to jump up to grab the ledge above you. Pull up and go north up the ramp. Run and jump to grab the column to the far north. Use the CTRL and UP ARROW to walk the tightrope. When the instructions say jump, use ALT and CTRL to jump and grab the ledge.

Go forward onto a balcony over a large room with a pool. Run around the balcony to the other side and dive into the pool. Pull out anywhere and go into the north-east alcove. Push the corner block twice into a small room. Go behind the block and pick up a Silver Dragon for secret #1. Exit the small room and go to the south wall. Pull down the switch on the wall labeled Main Menu and the level ends.

You can also use ALT and UP ARROW to roll forward out of a crawl space. It is not mentioned in the author's notes.

Level 2: Black Dream - A Christmas Adventure

The level starts with Lara on a horse drawn sleigh. She falls off and the gates close behind her. Turn around and run north. The icon for the diary appears in the corner of the screen. You can read the diary and it states

"Ohh nee! Me boob has to walk now at home..."

Continue forward and see two signs near the east wall that point downwards to a snowy depression. Continue north up the hill. As you pass a statue, Lara looks at a snowmobile behind a fence. On the other side of that statue is a stable with horses. The diary states:

"Hmm! I could use the snow mobile good."

Continue north and stop at the top of a slope. Open the door in the house to the west. Enter the room and get a cut scene of Lara and a man in front of a fireplace. The author's notes state that he is Lara's biggest fan". I could not get the spoken conversation. Look west and see a old style pre-CD phonograph turntable. Go left into a hallway and pick up a rubber band (Gum) from the floor. Continue west and turn into an alcove and pick up Metal Clad from the floor. Ignore the door and go west to a small cabinet. Take one step back from the cabinet and use CTRL to search the cabinet and get a Slingshot. The side alcove doors do not open so exit this house.

Run south past the snowmobile to the start of a slope. Combine the slingshot and rubber band to shoot the window in the house to the west. Enter the room and pick up the flashlight from the floor. Pull back the tiger rug and pick up the Grey Key from the floor. Notice a Christmas pudding on the central table. Go west down the corridor and go down some steps into the basement. Search the small cabinet and pick up a Disc Record. Ignore the statue in the wall for now. Go up the steps and exit this house. Go north to the first house and enter again. Place the record on the phonograph turntable. There is a cut scene and another conversation. This sets out your mission to light the fire in the fireplace in exchange for the snowmobile. Exit this house and go south and return to the house with the basement.

Go down the steps to the basement again. Pull the statue from the south wall and place it the right light floor tile near the north wall. Step on the left tile and the floor drops under your weight. Face east and see a column through the crack in the floor. Use the slingshot again and shoot that column until it breaks. The column in the east corner descends in front of you. Push the statue into that corner. A gate opens in the south wall. Go there and enter the alcove. Pull the wooden box out into the room. Enter the room and see a closed gate. Shoot the demon statue through the slot in the east wall. The gate opens behind you. Enter the tunnel and pick up Firestone #1 off the floor and return to the basement.

Pull the statue out of the corner. Push the wooden box into the corner in its' place. You can stand on the wooden box. Pull up into an east wall tunnel. Follow the tunnel down to room with a statue and columns. To the right of the statue are two short gates between posts of a stall. Push open the short gates to the stall. Enter the stall and shoot the fuse panel. Pull down the switch and a column drops in the room. Pull back the statue and place the statue on the dropped column. Enter the stall again and reset the switch. Go to the column and hop onto the block beside it. Pull up through the open trap door. You are in the stable. Push the statue forward and south into the rear end of the horse. You get a cut scene of the horse running forward and opening a gate.

Go north to the wall and turn into an alcove to your right. Use the Gray Key in a key lock. Go east to the newly opened gate. Enter the room and pick up the shovel off the floor. Drop down to the lower ledge to the south. Walk the tightrope and jump to grab the ledge to the far south. Go to the south-west corner and pull down the hard-to-see switch on the south wall. This raises a box in the pit that you have just crossed. You can do nothing else yet so just exit this area and then exit the stables.

Go south down the slope and approach the signs near the east wall. Lara started to dig when she landed on the snowy depression near the signs. When finished, pick up Firestone #2 off the ground. Go north and up the hill. Continue north to the house with the man and the fireplace. Go near the fireplace and get a cut scene of Lara lighting the fire. There is another conversation that I could not understand. Check your inventory and notice that the firestones are gone but you have the Garden Key. Exit this house and go south to a key lock. Use the Garden Key and the gate opens. You can now get the snowmobile. Just drive the snowmobile outside the gate and get off for now.

Enter the snowmobile area again and pick up a torch (tree twig) off the ground in the south-east corner. Return to the house with the man. Stand in front of the fireplace and light the torch. Exit this house and return to the stables. Return to the room with the tightrope. Drop into the pit and stand jump onto the box and then onto the south ledge. Stand in front of the wire-mesh door and light the door with the torch. The door descends (melts?) into the floor. Enter the room and pick up the crowbar (sword) off the floor. The diary states:

"A sword? Maybe I can switch something with it..."

Crawl through the green curtain on the south wall and into a lower crawl space. Crawl to the end of the crawl space and pick up Mistletoe off the floor. Crawl back out and exit this area. Go back through the stables to the outside area. Go south and west through the broken window again. Stand on the north side of the central table and face south. Place the mistletoe on the Christmas pudding on the table. You hear the music for secret #1. Although you seem to get nothing for your effort.

Exit this house and return to the snowmobile. Drive north down the slope and follow the snowy valley. Go west and drive over trapdoors. If you drive at an angle, you can open the doors and not fall into the pit. But it does not matter if you do fall into the pit. Get off the snowmobile and safety drop into the pit. Run west towards a mound on the floor. The diary states:

"This face on the ground. Somehow the mouth is well opened."

Stand on the south side of the mouth and face north. Use the crowbar on the mouth as if it were a broken floor lever. You hear something open. Pull up out of the pit. Go west and enter the open glass doors. You get a flyby of the area showing the demon in the cage from Black Dream part 1.

Go west and stop just pass the horse statues. Look to the north wall and see a small blue statue. Shoot the statue to break it. Pick up Golden Eye #1 off the floor. Continue west to the end of the cave. You can see a closed gate in a south tunnel. Go north and drop down the ledges into a lower area. Continue north into a room with moveable blocks and a ledge. Pull out a moveable block from the west wall. Push the block into the north-west corner. Push the block on the ledge onto that block. Pull out the second lower block and push it beside the first lower block in the corner. Climb the blocks and pull up into a large cave area.

Go west and pass an icicle gate and a receptacle to the north. Continue west into a room with electrical arcs between columns. To the north is a closed icicle gate. Behind it you can see a Santa Claus statue and elves skating on the ice. To the south is a closed icicle gate leading to a tunnel. Continue west into an outdoor area. There is a water channel next to a temple structure with a statue. The statue is moveable but you cannot move it yet. The diary states:

"This river... if it wouldn't be so wet..."

Go south and see a closed gate in the wall. Dive into the water channel under the gate and swim down. Follow the underwater tunnel to the end and surface near a closed underwater gate. The camera view changes to an overhead view to make things difficult. Grab the south wall crevice and shimmy to the left. Use the DOWN ARROW to turn around and grab another crevice. Use ALT to jump up to grab the higher crevice. Use the DOWN ARROW to turn around and grab the top of a ledge and pull up. Go forward and drop into the underwater tunnel on the other side of the closed underwater gate.

Follow the underwater tunnel and surface in a large room. In the middle is a large blue statue. In the north-east corner is a pull chain. There are three openings in the walls. Each opening leads to a large room with a large horizontal obelisk.

Enter the north opening. Climb the ladder on the west wall and back flip into a higher room. You can see a turntable. Rotate the turntable once counter clockwise. Shoot the small blue statue at the east wall. Pick up Golden Eye #2 off the floor. Safety drop to the floor. The obelisk should point to the statue room. Return to the statue room.

Enter the west opening. Shoot the small blue statue at the south wall. Pick up Golden Eye #3 off the floor. Climb the ladder on the north wall and back flip into a higher room. You can see a turntable. Rotate the turntable twice counter clockwise. Safety drop to the floor. The obelisk should point to the statue room. Return to the statue room.

Enter the south opening. Climb the ladder on the west wall and back flip into a higher room. You can see a turntable. Rotate the turntable once clockwise. Notice a closed gate in the corner. Safety drop to the floor. The obelisk should point to the statue room. Return to the statue room.

Go to the north-east corner and pull the pull chain once. You hear a noise. Turn around and see yellow beams from the three obelisks. The large blue statue breaks. Enter the south opening and climb the west wall again. Back flip into the higher room. The gate in the corner is open. Go there and enter the room. Pick up The Gold Dragon for secret #2. Get down and return to the room with the broken statue. There is another face on the ground where the statue stood. Stand on the south side and face north. Use the crowbar on the mouth. The water channel has frozen. Enter the north opening and cross the room. Hop onto the north ledge and exit through the open gate.

Go to the temple structure and pull out the statue. Pull the statue east into the room with electrical arcs. Place the statue onto the circular design in the middle of the room. You get a cut scene of the icicle gate opening in the south wall behind you. The icicle gate in the north wall also opens. Enter the south gate and follow the tunnel to a large room with two statues and a central pedestal. There is a closed gate in the north-east corner.

Go to the blue howling wolf-shaped statue at the east wall. Place a Golden Eye and two icicle gates open beside it. Inside the alcoves are statues and wall switches. Go to the blue howling wolf-shaped statue at the west wall. Place a Golden Eye and two icicle gates open beside it. Inside the alcoves are statues and wall switches. There are two statues in the room. Pull down the wall switches in the alcoves pointed to by the statues. That is, the north-east and south-west alcoves only. More statues appear in the room and there are electrical arcs. Hop onto the central block and pick up the Washer for Nothing from the pedestal. The corner gate is still closed so exit this room.

Go east and south to drop into the entrance cave area. Go south and climb the ledges. Go across the cave and into the south tunnel. Place the washer in the middle of the gate and the gate opens. Enter the gate and jump forward to grab the top of a slope. Pull up, slide down and jump to land on a slope. Slide down and jump to land on a flat ledge. Save the game. If you fall into the water, there is a long ladder at the room entrance. Stand jump to grab the south column. Shimmy to the left and use the DOWN ARROW to turn and grab the middle column. Shimmy to the other side and use the DOWN ARROW to turn and grab the last column. Release and grab the crevice below. Use the DOWN ARROW to turn and grab the middle column. Shimmy to the other side and use the DOWN ARROW to turn and grab the first column again at a lower position. Shimmy to the left around the room and pull up into an opening.

Go through a crawl space and enter a room with ramps. The overhead view makes the movements harder. Once you manage to get onto the first ramp, the camera view returns to normal. As you go up the ramps, there are many side tunnels in the corners. Go to the top of the ramps and enter the tunnel. You get a flyby of a trapdoor and a wall switch somewhere. Enter the room and push the statue north onto a grate. The grate opens and the statue drops into the room below.

Safety drop into the room. Push the statue south twice onto a tile with an arrow symbol. The door should open in the south wall. Enter the room and notice a closed icicle gate in the east wall and a central pedestal. Go to the west wall and pull up into a crawl space. Crawl through and drop onto a ledge. Do not use the tightrope yet. Go north and pull down the wall switch. You get a cut scene of the icicle gate opening in the previous room. Return to that previous room and go north back to the statue. Push the statue to the north wall. The door closes in the south wall.

Exit this room by the east wall tunnel. Go down the ramp and enter the tunnel in the south wall. Go through the open icicle gate and return to the room with the crawl space and pedestal. Go through the crawl space again and drop onto the ledge. Now cross the water on the tightrope. Pull down the wall switch on the west wall. Dive into the water and swim back to a ladder. Climb up to the ledge and go through the crawl space again. Go out the tunnel and up the slope into the room with the statue. Approach the statue and it drops into the room below. Safety drop into the room. Pull back the statue onto a wooden tile in the middle of the room. You get a cut scene of the pedestal in the room with the crawl space. Exit this room by the tunnel in the south-east corner.

Go up the ramps and enter the first tunnel. Return to the room with the pedestal. Pick up the Golden Ball off the pedestal and leave the room. Go down the ramps and enter the first tunnel. Enter the room with the statue. Go north and use the wall switch to open the icicle gate. Enter the room where you have been before. Cross the room and enter the corner tunnel. Continue to the cave with the statue and electrical arcs. Go east and place the ball in the receptacle to open the icicle gate in the north wall.

Enter the gate and go north to the demon in the cage. Go behind the demon and pick up Christmas Star off the floor. The diary states:

"I've found the star, my dream is about to be realised.
Now I've to bring it on its place."

Exit the room and go west and north into the room with the Santa Claus statue. Place the star on the statue. You get a final cut scene and statistics as the level ends.
