INSTALLATION 12

Begin the level in an alcove with an SAS guard patrolling the area directly in front of you. Draw weapons and take him out quickly before he starts taking an interest in you. Take the RESTRICTED CARD he drops, then turn around, shoot the box in the corner behind the jeep, and pick up the rockets.

Go across the room.  The glass door to your left (a portal to Hanger 12 for the jeep) is for later, so open the door S and go down the passageway. You'll see a truck to your left in the room below, and an SAS guard will step out to challenge you. Make short work of him and step down into this room. Note another SAS guard patrolling the glassed-in area above.

Step up to the rear of the truck and pull up to the top. Pick up the small medi-pack, then turn to your right and look around. There's a ladder in the NE corner of this room, but it's protected by an electrified green platform. Avoid it for now.

Jump down off the truck, go around to the front and enter the W passage. Draw weapons and step through the green laser beams (which trigger a silent alarm but won't harm you). Shoot the two SAS guards who appear from your left. Take the GRENADE GUN from the near one and the ATLANTEAN CODE DISK from the other one. Go past the stuffed alien in the glassed cage to your right and go S down the hall.

Go past the caged crocs and use the Restricted Card in the slot on the S wall. Draw weapons, enter the open passageway and shoot the SAS guard who comes out to greet you. Pick up his DESERT EAGLE.

Turn left and go up the stairs. (The bathroom door SW is for later.) Halfway up, turn left and continue up the next flight of stairs. At the top, open the door on your left. Upon entering the room, Lara's attention is drawn to the computer sitting on top of the metal cabinet. Jump up and shatter it with your pistols to ignite some flames.

Pick up the flares on the nearby table, then approach the kitchen N, which is flanked by glassed partitions. (There's a switch on the W wall, but all it does is play music to entertain the kitchen staff.) Shoot a couple of dogs that charge out toward you. Go through the kitchen into the room beyond. On the computer desk to your left is the AQUARIUM KEY. The door to the bathroom seems to be stuck, but hey, isn't that another shootable computer right next to it? Voila! The flames ignite and the bathroom door opens. Go inside, hold your nose, stoop down and pick up the FIRE CARD on the floor in front of the commode.

Exit the bathroom, go back through the kitchen and into the stairwell at the far end of the next room. Go back down the stairs and turn right at the landing. Return to the room where you shot the last SAS guard and run straight ahead to the closed door. Open it and enter another bathroom. Lara's attention is drawn to the camera affixed to the upper right corner of the mirror. Use the Grenade Gun to shatter it. (It's one of three that must be blown away to afford access to a secret.)

Exit the bathroom and turn left. Use the Aquarium Key in its slot by the door to open it. Enter the passage, go through the aquarium and check out the shark tanks on your right and left. There's another camera high up on the far wall. Blast it with the Grenade Gun and exit through the W door, which opens as you approach.

In the next room, take a left and head down the passage. Draw weapons and shoot the dog that attacks from ahead and to the right. Shoot the box in the near corner and pick up the uzi ammo. Then shoot the computer on the nearby metal slab to ignite more flames and gain access to a secret.

Go through the opening where the dog came from and note the inoperative radar station against the wall to your right. Drag it three times across the room, then run around it to push it one time onto the huge computer chip on the floor next to the far wall, which causes the door in the previous room to open. An SAS guard will emerge, so eradicate him and pick up the EXPLOSIVES CARD he leaves behind. Go into the room he came from and pick up the second AQUARIUM KEY on the computer desk. Push the button in the W wall to neutralize the deadly lasers in a room elsewhere.

Exit this room and run down the N passage into the central room and into the opposite passage. Take a left and go through the green laser beams. Shoot the two SAS guards on your left and enter the tunnel from which they emerged to trigger SECRET #1. Pick up the ROCKET LAUNCHER, reverse roll, run toward the glassed-in cage and turn left past the scurrying croc.  The door will open as you approach, so enter the passage ahead. Draw weapons and kill the SAS guard to your right in the next room. Take his small medi-pack. Shoot the box next to the filing cabinet against the N wall for another small medi-pack.

Look up to see a hole in the air duct. Vault up onto the gray slab underneath the duct. Face N and jump up to grab the leading edge of the duct.  Pull up into the duct, crawl forward and turn right before you reach the screened-in fan. Continue climbing upward, dogleg to the left and continue until you reach a hole in front of a steam blower.

Turn around and drop down into the foliage of a tree. Hop back and you'll drop down on top of a crate.  Draw weapons and shoot the croc running around down below. Jump down to the floor and note the trap door next to the tree trunk. Climb back up onto the crate and use the Explosives Card to open the trap door.

Jump down, go to the opening and drop down to the next room. Take time to deal with an SAS guard and a dog that come out of the adjacent room and pick up the Desert Eagle ammo dropped by the guard. Then turn back to the wall next to the open trap door and throw the switch in the W wall. A brief earthquake ensues, signifying an explosion in the first aquarium.

Turn around and run into the next room, noting the hammerhead shark swimming around in the tank. You can shoot the box in the corner next to the glass, but it's empty. Turn to the wall opposite the glass and use the Aquarium Key to open a trap door in the air duct.

Exit this room and climb back up through the open trap door. Starting at the dirt slope in front of the plate glass window, run up the periphery of this room in a clockwise direction. When you get to the tree trunk, step around to its E face, jump up and grab, hit the crouch key and pull up into the duct. Crawl forward, dogleg to the left and continue downward.

At the bottom, turn left. When you reach the hole, turn around and drop back down into the computer room. Step down off the desk, turn right and run through the passageway and past the door that opens upon your approach. Go through the green laser beams into the next passage. Turn to the right and note that the control room is now flooded.

Wade through the central room and take a left into the large aquarium. Wade all the way through this area and through the passage until you reach the next junction, then take a left just past the flooded alcove. Draw the Desert Eagle and shoot the two crocs that escaped from their cage after the earlier earthquake-explosion. Turn around and go S across the central room, turning right into the flooded bathroom. There's a shower stall to the right with an underwater lever. Pull it to cut off the deadly red lasers in the office, and also to afford access to the ladder near the truck.

Exit the bathroom and take a left. Wade into the aquarium shambles NE where you shot the crocs, go past the stuffed alien, and turn right into the passageway at the far end of this long room. Go through the green laser beams and back into the room with the truck.

Now that the protective laser has been turned off, you can step onto the green platform in the far left corner of this room and climb up the ladder. Near the top, shift right and drop onto the ledge. About halfway down the ledge is an overhead trap door. Jump up to grab the near edge and it'll pop open.

Before continuing, let's pause for another secret. Jump up and grab the top of the duct. Pull up and walk to the intersecting junction, turn left and pick up some uzi ammo at the end for SECRET #2. Go back to where you climbed up and jump down to the ledge. Turn and walk to the edge of the ledge.

Jump up and grab, and pull up into the duct. Crawl forward past the steam blower on your left until you reach the juncture. Turn left and you'll see through the grill that you're over the kitchen. Continue forward past the fanned alcove on your right and you'll eventually reach a gap in the duct. Turn around and lower yourself into the room in front of the kitchen.  Face S (away from the kitchen), jump up and grab the other edge of the duct. Pull up and crawl forward to the juncture. Turn left and proceed over a grill until you reach another open area.

Turn around and lower yourself into the office. You'll hear the sound of a door opening. Take the RESTRICTED CARD from the computer desk against the W wall. Enter the N control room and use the Atlantean Code Disk in the receptacle to open the doors back up in the duct. Use the Grenade Gun to shoot the third and final shatter camera mounted on the wall, allowing access to the last secret. Walk under the duct, face W, and jump and grab the leading edge. Pull up and make the long crawl back to the now-open doors. You'll need to drop into the room next to the kitchen, turn around and pull up into the other side of the duct opening in order to continue. Crawl forward N to the very end of this long tunnel, take a right and continue until you reach a hole in the duct.

An SAS guard will be awaiting your arrival, taking pot shots as you turn around and lower yourself into a control room, so be quick about it. Dispatch the guard and throw the SW wall switch to open the door marked "Restricted Area: Authorized Personnel Only" near the beginning of the level.

See that room blocked by the grate? You can now get to it, thanks to your work with the shatter cameras. Face E and jump up and grab the leading edge of the duct. Pull up and crawl forward, turning to the left at the juncture. At the hole, turn around and lower yourself into SECRET #3. Shoot the box and pick up the UZIS. Go back to the control room the same way you came.

Turn around and cross this room, enter the red-tinted tunnel E, take a right and throw the wall switch to your left at the end. The door ahead will open to reveal an elevator shaft. Take a standing jump and grab the far wall. Climb up to the top. When you reach the crawl space, Lara will get "set" so that she can't pull into the crawl space. What you need to do is release the action key for just an instant, forcing Lara to grab the edge again. Immediately, before she has a chance to get "set" again, hit the crouch key and the up arrow. Lara will now obediently pull into the crawl space.

Crawl forward a short distance and pick up the SHOTGUN. Then crawl back out and climb down the elevator shaft. There's a button to push down at the bottom, which surely must do something. Turn right and pull up into the short tunnel leading to the room with the truck. Splash down into the semi-submerged room, turn left and wade up into the newly-opened area. Run down the wide tunnel, exit through the open door, and keep running straight ahead through the open door beyond for a brief visit to Hanger 12.

HANGER 12

Go through the tunnel into a wider area and open the door at the end.  (The wall switch to your right is for a bit later.) Draw weapons and shoot the SAS guard inside and to the right. Open the door in the W wall and shoot the crate to reveal two boxes of shotgun ammo. In the near left corner of the room behind you is a slot for the Fire Card. When you place it, a cut scene shows the hall outside and the room below being flooded. Go outside into the hall and pull down the wall switch to your left, opening a trap door in the middle of the hall.

Drop down into the hole and pull the underwater lever on the E wall to open a hanger door elsewhere. Then surface and pull back up into the hall, re-enter the control room and find an opening area in the far right (SW) corner next to the door you opened earlier. Turn around and lower yourself down the ladder. There are three SAS guards down there, eagerly awaiting your arrival, so draw weapons and kill them quickly. Retrieve their desert eagle ammo and the Grenade Gun.

There are several shootable crates in this room, but all are empty save the one against the E wall to the right of the open hanger door.  Shoot it to reveal the PATROL UNIT KEYS.  If you venture too close to the hanger door you may entice another SAS guard inside (although I didn't encounter him when I replayed this level). If so, just shoot him and take his large medi-pack.

Pull down the wall switch in the NW corner of this room, next to the row of computers, to open a door in front of the ramp in the area outside. Climb back up the ladder in the N wall and return to the control room above. Run across this room, down the wide tunnel N (avoiding the open hole) and into the red-tinted tunnel for a brief return to Installation 12.

INSTALLATION 12

Turn right, run toward the jeep and use the Patrol Unit Keys to operate it. Take a hard left and drive the jeep into the narrow tunnel, past the door that opens as you approach it, to return to Hanger 12.

HANGER 12

Drive the jeep down the tunnel, doglegging to the right, until you reach the ramp. Drive down the ramp, and don't worry about the SAS guard standing on the box in front of you. Take a right into the hanger room and drive straight ahead and up the sloped boxes to the right of the closed hanger door. (Be sure to avoid the square hole further to the right; if you fall into it you won't be able to drive back out.)

At the top of the boxes you'll ram into and shatter some wooden supports, allowing a trap door to fall. Back the jeep down the slope, get out, run around to the box on the right and climb up the two boxes. Turn right and climb up the ladder, shifting to the left when you pass the ledges on either side, and drop down to the ledge. Turn around and walk to the end of this ledge. Take a running jump to the next ledge and run forward to throw the floor lever, opening another set of doors.

Take a running jump back to the previous ledge, angle Lara to the right and take a standing jump and grab to the ladder. Climb back down and get into the jeep.

Turn the jeep to the left and drive it down the ramp leading toward the S wall. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right, get out of the jeep, and throw the wall switch on the right to open the door below.

Get back into the jeep, turn it to the right once more and drive down the ramp. At the bottom, turn left, then right again to run into the SAS guard waiting on the platform. Get out of the jeep, vault onto the platform and run through the green laser beams, alerting two more SAS guards. Kill them and take the small medi-pack from one of them.

Open the door on your right and shoot the SAS guard patrolling the launch room. Then turn around and go to the NW corner of the previous room. Use the Restricted Card to open the door to the pool room on your right.

In the pool room, shoot the two dogs to your left. Continue a short way down the ledge along the south wall until you're opposite the rope. Save your game here, because if you fall into the water you'll be sucked down by the current into a death-dealing fan. Take a running jump and grab to the rope. Angle Lara slightly to the left, facing the platform. You can lower her into the water, but if you go all the way to the bottom of the rope she'll fall off and you'll have to reload. Then swing over and release onto the platform (grabbing and pulling up if necessary).

Hop down to the lower platform and throw the switch to open another access door for the jeep. Return to the far ledge of the pool room via the rope, and run back to the jeep beyond the green laser beams. Drive back up the ramp and take a right into a new area out in the open air.

Turn right at the end of this overpass and drive the jeep up the ramp and down into an area where a truck is being consumed by flames. (Be careful not to drive over the truck, or Lara will be set aflame as well.) Get out of the jeep and jump E through a break in the fence to find a small medi-pack a little to your right next to the tree. Then turn around, jump back through the break and run across this area. Vault into the W doorway and open the door to a small office. Pick up the LAUNCH CARD from the computer desk ahead. If you're in a particularly foul mood, turn to the right, open the bathroom door and shoot the dog that was inside minding its own business.

Get back into the jeep, drive it back up and over the ramp, and take a left and drive back E along the fenced-in overpass. Inside the tunnel, take a left and drive down the ramp. Get out of the jeep, vault up and run past the green laser beams into the control room. Turn right into the launch room. Turn left, vault up N and use the Launch Card in the wall slot. You'll be treated to a rumbling and a brief flyby through the hanger room.

Go back to the jeep and drive it back up the ramp. At the landing take a hairpin turn to the left and return to the hanger room. Get out of the jeep and use the boxes as before to climb up to the ladder on the W wall. Climb up, and this time shift to the right and drop down to the ledge. Turn right, walk out to the N edge, and jump up to grab the higher platform. Pull up, turn right and walk up several steps until you reach the end.

Turn left and jump up to grab the next higher platform. Pull up, turn right and walk forward a few steps. Then turn around to face W, and jump up and grab the edge of the highest level. Pull up and draw weapons immediately. Turn to face S and shoot two SAS guards who were waiting for you.

In the adjacent room is a floor lever. Push it to turn off the deadly fan in the pool below. Tarry, if you wish, to savor the starry skies and a full moon, then make your way back down to the jeep. Drive down the ramp toward the S wall and take a hairpin turn to the right and down the ramp leading to the launch area.

Get out of the jeep, run through the green laser beams and straight ahead into the pool room. Dive into the now placid waters and swim into the hole at the bottom. Continue down the tunnel to the N, turning right at the juncture. When the water becomes shallow enough for Lara to wade, draw weapons and wait for the two dogs and the SAS guard to arrive. After eliminating them, pick up the shotgun ammo dropped by the guard.

Turn right into the dark area, then right again into a sparsely-furnished room where there's nothing to do. Return to the darkened hallway and locate a ladder against the W wall.

Climb up to the top and quickly shoot two SAS guards who come at you from the left. Then turn around and shoot the box against the E wall to reveal a small medi-pack. Either climb up and over the short wall to your right, or run around it to the right. Throw the floor switch near the E wall to open the door leading to the exit.

Climb back down the ladder and return to the tunnel leading back to the pool. Swim back to the pool, pull out S and run back to the jeep.

Drive the jeep back up the ramp and make a hairpin turn to the left to return to the hanger room. The door next to the sloped boxes W is now open, so drive up the long and steep ramp. Veer to the right or left when you reach the top, or you're liable to drive right into a water hole.

Get out of the jeep, jump into the water hole and swim W along the tunnel. In the subterranean chamber you come to, pull up onto the ledge and survey the scene before you. Draw the Desert Eagle and shoot the statue on your right, releasing an ahmet that slithers toward you over the flames. Shoot it as well. When you do so, some of the burners ahead will be extinguished, allowing Lara to zig and zag her way across this room, through the short tunnel W, and on to a flyby ending this level.
