TR3 - THE

Walkthrough by Harry Laudie
This can be run using the TR3 South Pacific demo.
Check the author's read me file for installation. There seems to be problem when Lara exits
water. Sometimes she seems to fall from great heights. If she does, try another
place to exit the water.
Lara on the moon in a space suit starts in a slime
tunnel. Walk on the edges and go to the left at the end. Stop at a small hole
in the right wall. Go in and walk submerged to the end and pull up. Pick up a large Medi pack (1), a shotgun
(2) and Uzi clips (3). Pull the lever
and climb the ladder to the right. At top, turn around and jump to climb
another ladder. At the top, get off and notice the boulder above you. Sprint
down the corridor, drop at the end and crawl into the crawlspace before the
boulder hits you. When you make it, you are inside a large room and Lara looks
up to a hole in the left wall near the ceiling. Go forward and kill a guard (1) who drops a small
Medi pack (4). On the right wall is a movable block. Pull/push it to
beside the grate in the floor below the hole that Lara looked at. Go to the end
of the room and drop down a hole. Use the crawlspace to get into another room.
Jump on a shelf for some MP5 clips (5) and a robot (2) shoots
at you from a ledge. Go there and kill him and find a switch on the wall. Pull
it to open a trapdoor beside you. Now go to the far end and pull out a movable
block. Go back through the crawlspace to the large room. Drop into the trapdoor
and pull the block towards the trapdoor. Get out, go back into the second room
and push the block to the end underneath the open trapdoor. Back to the top
room and push the upper block onto the lower block. Now Lara can reach that
hole to find a lever. Pull the lever and a door opens below in the far corner
of the room.
Go there and dive into the water. Swim until you
emerge into a large open area. There is a crane behind you, a second water pool
in the right, a slime poll on the left and an opening in front. Go to the front opening and kill a guard (3) by a keycard reader. This is a spaceship
apparently. Go to the far left of the ledge with the fuel sign and look down
towards a crawlspace on the other side of the slime. Jump to it and crawl in
until you find some Uzi clips (6) and secret #1. Climb
the wall behind you, back flip near the top to a ledge and run/jump back to the
first ledge. Go back to the pool where you entered the area. Go to the RX Tech
building past the second water pool. There are some harpoons
(7) in a hole on the left side of the building. Pull up to the roof and
see a crawlspace on the left cliff. Crawl in and at the climb a wall to pick up
a small Medi pack (8).
Get down and up forward to the slime pool and jump
the slime to land of a flat ledge. Turn left, climb a block and monkey swing to
a crawlspace to your left. Follow the crawlspace to the area above the crane.
Jump on the rusty block in the corner and turn around to see a crack in the
wall ahead of you. Run/jump to the crack, shimmy to the right to pull up into a
crawlspace. Go through to get to an open area above the slime. The tunnel you
pass is empty. Look left and run/jump to a rusty pillar. Go the right to reach
a rusty platform with a lever. Pull the lever to raise a metal platform on the
building opposite you. Jump to the far shore, climb a blue box to get to the
platform. Jump into the building to get a Blue Keycard
(9). Get down, jump over the slime and follow the left wall to a
crawlspace. Crawl through and get back to the main area.
Go back to the second water pool. Jump in and the
first hole to the right is empty. So swim to the end with a closed door to the
left. Swim up to the right in a narrow channel to an underwater lever. Pull it
to open that door. Swim back past the door and pull up into a room with some
pipes, barrels, and a robot (4) that shoots at
you. Kill him and pick up some shotgun shells (10).
Go left to a room with a wall ladder and another guard
(5) attacks. Kill him and climb the ladder to face a lever. Pull the
lever and the door to the outside opens while a robot
(6) shoots you in the back. Kill him and go down a small ramp and turn
left. At the end of the room, jump up to the left into a room with a movable
block and a keycard reader on the wall. Move the block under the keycard reader
and use the blue keycard. The front door to the RX Tech building opens so go
there and enter.
There is a ladder in front of you. In a hole to the
right is a mutant (7) who hisses green gas at
you. Kill or ignore him, as there is nothing else there. Climb the ladder and
go right through a crawlspace to a monkey swing. Swing across and grab a
climbable wall. Go left to drop to a flat area in from of a crawlspace. Go in and
come out into a hole overlooking a green crane. Run/jump/grab the crane towards
the left side. Run/jump forward to land on a mine car track. Go to the right,
but keep to the right side as the left side of the track is deadly. Just before
the steep incline is an alcove containing a lever. Pull it to open the door in
the mine car shed at the other end of the track. Go there and pickup shotgun shells (11) on the way. You can jump to a
beam and onto the roof to the far right but I found nothing there. Go in and
kill the robot (8) shooting at you from the
right side. Inside notice that a grate in the floor has open to give access to
the bottom area. There is also a mine car. Go behind the boxes on the right
side of the room to get some Desert Eagle clips (12).
Get in the mine car (CRTL key) and go for an easy short trip. There is a jump
over a gap and a ride over some slime. Near the end, a robot
(9) shoots at you. Duck in the car and run him down. The mine car stops
automatically, leaving Lara humped over in a strange position. If you forgot
(as I did), you exit the mine car by using the END + left/right arrow keys and
wait a few seconds for Lara to exit the car. Lara is not very fast here.
You are overlooking a large area with water that is
safe and not deadly. Back along the track, near a keypad is a deep hole you can
get into but not get out (a dead end). Forward down the track is an alcove
where you can get flares (13) and a gate you
have to open. A little forward of the mine car to the right side is a ladder so
climb down. All doors here cannot be opened yet. Jump into the water and swim
to the other side. Near the far waterfall in the pool floor is a hole where you
can pick up Desert Eagle clips (14). Get out
and in a blue corner is a padlocked door for RX Tech. Can not do anything yet;
I just want to point it out for later. Go back to where you descended from the
track to find a movable block. Pull/push it to the far right so that you can
run/jump/grab into a corridor. At the end, push a button that raises two metal
platforms nearby. Go back and jump to them. From the second platform, jump onto
a ledge with a lever. Pull it to open the gate on the top track. Climb back up
there. From the open gate, jump to a ledge and then to the harmless waterfall.
Go through a crawlspace to the other waterfall. Here drop backwards, grab, and
shimmy to the right. At the end, drop down and shimmy another crack to the
right. Pull up and crawl to a ledge on the right. From here jump to the
building with the open door.
Go into the empty building and out a door to the
right onto a ledge. Do a standing jump to the ledge with the barbed wire, grab
and pull up to climb the ladder. Jump up to grab a monkey swing, go around the
corner and drop into a crawlspace. Go though and at the end stand up to another
monkey swing. Use the monkey swing and carefully go through a bank of drills in
the wall to drop to a ledge with a ladder. Climb the ladder and see a boulder
waiting for you. Sprint down the passage and fall to a slide. The boulder stops
at the top. Another boulder starts to roll from the side. Wait until it is almost
on you then back flip onto the slide. It passes in front of you as you slide
back down. I found nothing where it came from. Go left, slide down and jump up
to grab the rusty metal monkey swing. Swing across the slime to drop onto a
block with the Spaceship Access Keycard (15). Pick it up and jump to the track. On one side you can see
boulders that will crush Lara against a closed door. Go the other direction
under some pipes. After the first pipe, climb the wall to a ledge and a short
tunnel. Arm yourself and go down the tunnel to draw out a mutant (10) who poisons you with
gas. Kill him quickly and go down the tunnel and pick up a small Medi pack (16). Use
it if necessary and safety drop the track below. Go back to the mine car and
get in for an exciting ride.
Go up the incline and slow down for a
right turn. Drop and duck under three pipes and jump the gap where you got the
key. Down the incline with the boulders you saw before. Duck under four pipes
and immediately use the brake (ALT) to slow down for a sharp right turn. Do not
slow down too much. If Lara is too slow going over the track before the next up
incline, she will catch fire. At the top, start down and break for a sharp left
turn. Go up another incline. Duck under three pipes and a door opens. Use the
brake again for a sharp left turn. Do
not slow too much as you have to jump another gap in the mine car. As you
approach the door opens and you are back in the mine car shed. If you think
that was fun, you get another chance to do it again later.
Get out of the car, go down the
trapdoor and open the spaceship door. Go in and down the ladder. Pull the
movable block on the left into the room on the right. Push it all the way so
you can climb up into a space above. A mutant (11) hisses green gas at you and dies.
Climb up and pull the switch to open a door that was behind the movable block.
Ignore the ladder beside you for now as it is the exit and needs something you
don't have yet. Go down the open door into a corridor with two doors and two
pushbuttons on the right. A closed door and a keycard reader are at the end.
Push the button to open the first door and go in. Dive into the water and into
the hole in the floor and you see a machine guarding the required keycard. Swim
back to the surface, noticing an underwater lever in the wall. Climb up the
other side of the pool to see a closed trapdoor. Get out into the corridor and
push a button to open the second door. Go into the second room that you saw
through the pool's glass wall. Climb down a ladder and kill a guard (12). Pull the movable block on the left
and push it into the end of the room. Climb on it and pull out another block.
Now go back to the first room. Jump in and pull the lever to open the trapdoor.
Go in and push the movable block at the end. You are in the second room. Climb
the blocks, back flip to an incline, jump forward and grab. Pull up into a
corridor with a lever at the end. Save the game before the lever. When pulled
you get a cutscene of the device over the keycard stopping. After a few tries,
the device will stop in a vertical position above the keycard. Now go and get
the Blue Keycard (17). You could have just got the keycard earlier but the machine
causes damage to Lara so stop the machine first.
Back in the corridor, use the keycard.
Immediately hop back and start shooting as a mutant (13) attacks you. After
his death, go into the corridor, climb up at the end and pick up some flares (18). To the right side
you can pick up a small Medi pack (19). Now run/jump/grab across the slime into the cave on the other
side. Crawl into a cave with a crane above a deep hole and a mutant (14) to kill. Go into the
crawlspace at the back of the cave to get shotgun shells (20). Get out and go the
right side of the hole and drop down. You slide and the boulder follows you. If
done right, Lara is on the right and the boulder passes her on the left and
misses her. At the slide's end, safety drop into a room with dead aliens on beds.
Go around the room to pick up Uzi clips (21) from the floor and a Desert Eagle
(22) from a bed. On the floor near the far window
you see something. Pick up the Unlocker Door Gun
(23) and get a cut
scene of two creatures (15) attacking. I just ran back to stand on the block at the opposite
end of the room so I could easily kill them with pistols. Climb behind the bed
with steam and climb up a ladder through an open trapdoor. At the top, release
and grab and shimmy right to avoid damage from the machine there. Avoid the
other machine as well to get into a crawlspace in front of it. Stand up and
climb a ladder. Pull a switch and the door opens. Go into the corridor where
you started. The Unlocker Door Gun is used on the locked door in the area at
the first mine car stop. Climb the ladder, go up through the outside trapdoor
into the mine car shed, get in the mine car and go back there.
Unlock the door and a soon as it opens
a guard (16)attacks you. Kill him and go inside. Nothing on the right so slide
down the hole on the left. Enter a room and kill the robot (17) that attacks you. Use the Desert Eagle
so you suffer less damage. There is a pushbutton and door to your right. Go to the far end and push the button to open
the door. Inside on the left is a floating green thing behind a fence. To the
right are shotgun shells (24) on a ledge. Beside it is a ladder to another room. If you go
there you will find a door needing a keycard you don't have yet. Go back to
open the other door which leads to a huge outside area. Go straight until the
end of the track and turn left. To the left is a closed door. To the right are
an open gate and something in a pool of water.
Go to the gate and pick up a small Medi pack
(25) (I was running low) and then return to take
the track in the other direction.
At the bottom of the hill, go right
until you see a guard (18) by an elevated building. Kill him. In the floor of the building
is a closed trapdoor. To the left is a crawlspace in the rock wall. Enter it
and climb up until you have a choice to go up or down to two areas. First go up
and kill a robot (19) and a guard (20) who drops a small Medi pack (26). Take
notice of the radio telescope for later and then back into the lower room. Go
into a corridor and kill a creature (21) that attacks. Continue to a room with boxes and a mine car
in the far corner. Above you is a metal door and on the other side an alcove
with a switch. Go to the back right corner to pick up some shotgun shells (27). Go to
the left side of the room, crawl over a box to get into the corner where you
pull back a movable block. Climb out and climb the block left of the incline.
On the left block are some Desert Eagle clips
(28). In front is a hole. Go in the hole and
go through a crawlspace to a pushbutton. Press it and the door outside opens.
Go back there and monkey swing to the alcove with the switch. Pull the switch
and get a cut scene of the door near the pool opening. A guard and a creature
also attack you. Kill them and the guard drops a large Medi pack (29). Do not use the mine
car. It will not stop and Lara crashes into a wall and dies.
Go to the open door by the pool and
carefully go up the ramp watching out for boulders. Go to the end of the ramp
and into a corridor on the left. Climb a ladder and kill a robot (22). Go through a crawlspace in the far
corner and come out on a ledge overlooking the track. Jump over the track and
grab the ledge on the other side. Shimmy right and pull up near a yellow block.
Jump around the corner and then run/jump to a rusty block in a far corner. You
can here go right and jump the fence into the far yard but I don't think the
author meant to do it that way. Go down the left hole using a ladder. Run down
the corridor to pull a lever that opens a trapdoor in the elevated building. On
the way back go left to get a large Medi pack (30). Go to the entrance and pull up into a crawlspace. Go in to get
the green thing (31) (half Medi pack used immediately) and
secret #2. Go back out and up the ladder and go to the building with the
trapdoor. Carefully pull up and kill a robot (23). Go to a ledge and pull a switch. A
door on the opposite wall opens and you get another Blue Keycard (32). Now go back to the
building from where you entered this area, go to the end door and climb the
ladder.
Go behind the fence to the door needing
the keycard. Use it and the door opens. Go inside to a room with a switch on
the back wall. Outside a robot (24) is running in circles. Pull the switch and the radio telescope
moves. On the way there, kill the robot. Remember, it is the upper area in the
crawlspace in the rock wall. When you get there, climb the ladder and jump to
the radio telescope. Fall down the hole in the middle into some water. Swim
through a square pipe and emerge into the area behind the fence. Go into the
first building to the right and kill a robot (25) that drops shotgun shells (33). Notice the
padlocked door in the far left corner. So exit this building and continue to
the right. Kill another robot (26) hiding under a rusty tower. Notice the closed gate and follow the
track to an upper crawlspace on the right side. Get in, find nothing, and get
out. Continue to follow the track to a building where you kill a guard (27). This is the building above the mine
car that I noted should not be used. Going in, you see a crane on the left
holding a closed door. On the right, a ramp down to the mine car that should
not have been used. In the middle is a mine car you use when the gate is
opened. Go into the far left corner and drop down to a crawlspace. Go in and
drop to a hole with a pushbutton at the end. Press it and a metal platform
rises on a building outside. Get out of the hole and exit out of this building.
Go straight to a climbing ladder. In the alcove at the base, a creature (28) attacks and must be
killed.
At the top of the ladder is an empty
room. Use a monkey swing there to drop to a column in the middle and run/jump
to a blue box near a rock wall. Jump to another blue box and to a ledge on the
left. Finally jump to the metal platform you raised earlier. Climb on top of
the building. Go to the back of the brown block to find a switch that opens the
trap door on the building roof. Go inside to pull a lever that causes the door
to rise by the crane in the other building. Get out, carefully jump down and go
to the hole to pick up another Unlocker Door Gun
(34). Go back to the first building you entered to
unlock the door. Go inside to pull a switch that opens the gates. Go back to
the building with the crane and ride the mine car to the end over the pool
area. Get out and from the ledge jump up to lever on the right hand wall. Pull
it and an underwater trapdoor opens. Drop from the lever to the trapdoor, dive
in and follow to a ladder. Climb up and claim the Twilight Zone Gate Key (35) and get a cut scene of the space ship doors so you know you have
to go back there. Go back to the mine car landing. The crawlspace on the
sidewall just leads to the same lever you have already pulled. Forget the mine
car and just run back to the first building.
As you enter you see a door has opened
in front of you. Behind the door is some water. Dive in, swim to the end and
pull up into a red colored room. Pull the switch on the wall and the door
opens. You get a cut scene of a creature (29) running for the attack. I found it best to run outside and jump
to a pillar in the water. From there you can kill the creature with pistols.
When the creature is dead, go to the room it came from to get some shotgun shells (36). Climb back to the
mine car and do that thrilling ride again. At the end, get out and go down the
trapdoor and into the space ship. Down the ladder and go to the right. Down the
other ladder and pull the switch to open the doors. Inside, go the room on the
right and to the back to pick up a small Medi pack
(37). Use the key in the device on
the wall and the door back in the opens. Get a cut scene of a rotating sphere.
Go into the hall to kill a creature (30). Jump into the door and slide down to the level end. Time
taken was 8:31:12 on the second play and I still only found 2 secrets.
