Bridge
Surroundings.
In the
starting room, go to the NE ladder and take a running jump from the grassy
mound to grab it. Shimmy right and around the corner, climb to the middle of
the ladder and jump back with twist to grab the jumpswitch behind you and open
the exit door. Push the moveable objects to clear the way and pull the
jumpswitch in the small cave to raise a block in the starting room. Return
there, climb the block, jump to grab the crack in the wall and shimmy right
till you can go no more. Jump to grab the edge above (Alt) and hoist up. Avoid
the rolling stone traps and slide down the ramp to the bridge area. In front of
you is the exit door, but you'll open it at the very end of the level; also
there is a hole at the bottom of this lake, but you need a key first. There is
nothing to do here at the moment so, shoot the blue parrot and go E to an area
with a very deep pit and a lake at the bottom.
The
Deep Pit.
Take a
running jump from the border of the abyss so you can fall into the waters of
the lake below after a very long fall. Go out of the water from the E side and
take notice of the closed grated door: you'll be back here when you retrieve an
artefact in another area later. For now, turn around and climb the grassy ledge
in SW corner, follow the green path and at the end take a running jump to grab
the ledge in E wall, another jump to grab the S ladder and climb to the top.
Continue going up and at the end another running jump to grab the rope. Now you
can see the entrance of a dark cave in N wall; you must take a very long swing
from the rope so you can land in the sloped ledge over that entrance, slide,
grab and safety drop in front of the cave.
The
Dark Cave.
From
the very NW corner, move Lara a few sidesteps to the right and use Ctrl + Up
arrow so she can grab the high crack. Shimmy to the left and around the corner
and jump to grab the next crack; shimmy to the very right side and jump back
with twist (this time only with the Down arrow key) to grab the edge of the
ledge behind you; hoist up and climb to the top. Take a running jump to the W
ledge and continue climbing to find yourself again in the deep pit.
The
White Key.
Continue
and from the high ledge where the small plant is, take a running jump to the
crack in N wall; shimmy right and jump to grab the crack above, shimmy right
again and jump to grab a third crack; crawl into the smal cave to pick up the
White Key. Return outside and go down dropping/grabbing the cracks to return to
the corner you came from. Shimmy left around the corner and drop on a small
ledge below. From here, take a running jump to the next E cave.
To
The Very Top.
Go up
the ramp and shoot a bat; near the top beware the deep trench. From the right
side of the pillar in NE corner, jump to grab the crack (again Ctrl + Up
arrow), shimmy left and around the corner, jump to grab the next crack above
and from the very right side jump back with twist (again Down arrow) to grab
the crack behind you; shimmy left till you can go no more and jump back with
twist to grab the ladder behind. Climb to the top. Go up the steps and continue
till you arrive at another pit. Take a running jump to grab the crack in the
central structure (right side), shimmy left and around the corner, from the
very left side jump to grab the crack above; shimmy again all the way to the
right and jump to grab the top of this stone pillar. Slide down the ramp in W
side and jump in the very last moment to grab a new crack in the opposite wall,
shimmy to the very left and finally drop to safe ground near the corner. Follow
the path through the caves and at the end a door opens automatically. You are
again at the top of the deep pit.
Another
Deep Pit.
Make
your way to return to the lake with the bridge, jump into the water and look
for an opening in the bottom of the lake. Continue diving and in the first
junction turn left to pick up some flares. Take the other path now and
eventually you'll pick up a large medipack and reach a small room with a closed
door. Use your key to open it and find yourself at the bottom of another deep
pit. Climb the white ledge to your left or jump from the very right corner to
reach the first crack, as desired; from the left side jump to grab a second
crack above, shimmy to the very right side and jump to grab a third crack,
shimmy to the very left side and jump back with twist to grab another crack
behind you; shimmy all the way to the left and enter into the crawlspace near
the corner to get the shotgun. Return to the crack and this time shimmy all the
way to the right, jump to grab the next crack (how many cracks in this game, my
God!) and shimmy left to reach a safe ledge. Jump to grab the ladder and shimmy
around two corners; from the top, jump back to land on the ledge behind you.
Climb the white pillar from its N side and finally take a running jump to the
SW ledge, you are at the top of the pit.
The
Mask.
Pull
the cage in W wall out and aside (S) so you can reach the high S ramp. Go up
the ramp and from its top take a running jump to the SE opening. Now make your
way to move the new cage all the way to the end of the S corridor. Now, from
the top of the cage you can take running jumps E and W to pull two high
jumpswitches to open the door outside. Go there and from the bottom of the ramp
jump to grab the rope and use it to reach the high open door. Safety drop to
the bottom of the room and go up the steps to get a sort of Mask or Idol.
To
leave this room, climb the SE pillar from its E side, take a running jump to
the crack in N wall, shimmy left and jump back with grab to reach the next
pillar. From here a single jump to the S pillar, a running jump to grab the
edge of the final W fat pillar and shimmy right to the NE corner where you can
stand up. From the NW corner you can drop and grab a crack below, then shimmy
all the way around the structure till you are in front of the door and finally
a jump back with grab to reach the ledge.
The
Long Way Back To The First Deep Pit.
Do you
remember where the receptacle for the mask was? Sure, at the bottom of the
first deep pit, so you must make your way to go back there.
Only
two notes:
- To go
down in this first pit, approach to the S side. Look down to see the small
ledge to the right of the wooden ladder. Position Lara in front and run off the
edge; Lara will slide and safety will land on the ledge with no harm.
- In
the lake with the bridge, there is a flat ledge with a ramp in front so you can
climb to the top, but it's too high so you can grab it with a standing jump
trying to grab the edge from its very right side.
Now
return to the first deep pit and jump to the lake below as you did before.
Place the mask to open the grated doors.
The
Way To The Pyramids Area.
Run up
the ramp and climb the next wall at the end. Climb the NE ledge and turn around
to do a standing jump to grab the ladder. Shimmy left around the corner and
jump back with twist to grab the crack behind. Shimmy to the very left and jump
to grab the last edge; hoist up and climb the ladder in E wall. In the next
outside area with the small lake go up the SE grassy mound and use the crack
there to climb to the top. Now there's a junction with two ways. Choose the
left way first and follow the path till you arrive at an area with a big
pyramid.
Big
Pyramid.
Go up
the ramp and run around to its E side (2nd floor) to find a floor lever; pull
it to raise a block near the entrance ramp. Now go to the W side and this time
climb to the top of the ramp. Drop into the hole to land in the pool below; go
out of the water and shoot the natives there; when they have died, a door opens
in the pool (if it happens that the door doesn't open, reload and kill the
natives again). Swim there and at the end you'll find yourself inside another
smaller pyramyd.
Small
Pyramid.
Pull
the floor lever there to raise a second block in the big pyramid area. Return
there (the door opens as you approach) through the only way you'll find to the
previous junction.
Opening
The Last Doors.
Go up
the ramp only to the first floor and to the N side. Take a running jump to the
ledge with the moveable column and push it all the way to the marked tile at
the end: you'll see the door at the other side of the bridge opening.
Now you
"only" need to take the long way back to the bridge near the
beginning of the level (first return to the bottom of the first deep pit and
then climb to the top as I explained in the "the deep pit", "the
dark cave" and "to the very top" sections), cross it and enter
in the new room to discover the secret of the Mayas.
