TR3 Test Levels: Zone Editor Example Level

This is a fun testlevel. Right on your starting point three bears will rush toward you, quickly jump on top of the nearby blocks. You decide whether you want to kill them or not. Make your way through the doorway on the far wall (either by jumping over the blocks or simply running to it) and you'll notice the three bears in this area are always standing on the different textured tiles. These are their zones (boxes, in the LE) and they will never move out of them. They'll simply roam about, but the moment you step on an enemy's zone he'll rush toward you, even if he was facing away. You can keep fooling about with these bears before leaving the game manually.

This is another simple test room level. This one features a spot light effect in the center of what could be called replica of "Lara in a Box".

Albeit a little longer than the rest, this testlevel features diagonal walls which are only possible through the unofficial editor. You can experiment the collision in these walls - you'll see they have the same collision properties as regular slopes. Note this isn't the way

Core did diagonal walls in Tomb Raider Chronicles: Core used static panel objects to cover square corners.

TR3 TEST - MINE CART DEMO by TURBO PASCAL

Use CTRL to get into the mine cart. Then go for a ride. At the end it stops and use END + LEFT/RIGHT ARROW to exit the mine cart. There is no end trigger.

(Unauthorized) Walkthrough

Entering the hall to the left, jump on the lowest slope on the far left and jump to the higher area. Shimmy to the flat spot and take a running jump to the other end of the room, from there, jump to the opening. On this catwalk was a potential switch. Drop down and head to the next room, nothing but an opening you can't reach on the left wall. Heading on, negotiate all the platforming to reach the top, then climb up the rocks and on the next room, head through the corridor on the left side. There's nothing on the yellow room, and on the other end of the corridor is a pond. Dropping down there will take you back to the second room, via the opening you couldn't reach. Nothing else to do here.

TR3 TEST - TREX by TURBO PASCAL

Stay on the brown area and the T-rex (1) does not attack. Go onto the blue area to lure it towards you. Then jump back to the brown area and keep shooting until it dies. If you are suicidal, then fight the T-rex only on the blue area. There is no end trigger.

TR3 TEST - DEMO2 by TURBO PASCAL

Pick up shotgun shells (1) from the dead body on the floor. Pick up the shotgun (2) from near the dead body on the bed. Go to the back wall and pull the switch. Turn and run towards the right corner of the room to enter a tunnel. Run down the tunnel and enter a room and go to the left corner. Pull up to a slope, back flip and roll to grab another slope. Shimmy to the right to pull up onto a flat spot. Turn and kill the two raptors (1,2) that followed you into the room. Get down and go back to the first room and search the two tunnels for two small medipacks (3,4). Then return to the room and climb back onto the flat spot. Jump over the columns by the wall to get into the tunnel in the opposite corner. You are on the second level ledge. Follow the ledge to a switch. Pull the switch and safety drop to the first level. Enter the newly opened door and follow the tunnel.

 

Enter the room and kill five green dinosaurs (3-7). Go to the left and pick up keys (5) from the floor beside the dead body. Go to the back wall and use the keys in the left corner. The gate in the back wall opens. Enter the doorway and run down the tunnel. In the next room, go to the left corner and go up the steps. Pull up to a slope, back flip, roll, and land on the second level ledge. Follow the ledge and pick up shotgun shells (6). Continue and climb some blocks to pull up to the third level ledge. Continue and climb some blocks to pull up to the fourth level ledge. Then hop back to the blocks. Jump up from the safety of the blocks and kill the two raptors (8,9) on the fourth level.

 

Pull up and follow the fourth level to a room with dead bodies and some blocks. Climb the blocks to pull up into another large room. Go left to get flares (7). Go to the right and loop around into a corner for a switch. Pull the switch and then look into another corner for an open gate and a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a T-junction. Go left and you fall into a water pit in a deep room. Pull up and look for an exit. To the right of the exit on the floor are keys (8). Pick up the keys and exit back to the room with all the ledges to climb and them again.

 

At the T-junction, go right and use the keys to open the gate. Enter and the gate closes behind you. Run straight ahead and to the right of the wall to a golden switch but do not use it yet. Notice a closed gate to your right. You hear a T-rex (10) and you can see him rounding the corner after you. Climb the wall to the left of the switch and slide down the other side. T-rex will go back around to get you. Stand by the slope and when T-rex is on the black floor, jump the slope and pull the switch. The floor explodes and takes T-rex with it. Fantastic! If T-rex survives, reset the switch and try again. If T-rex catches you in his teeth, it is game over. The author mentions about the use of flares to attract T-rex, but I did not find the flares very useful. Go back over the slope and pick up keys (9) that T-rex leaves behind. Jump the slope again and go to the closed gate. Use the keys and the gate opens. Enter the gate and the level ends.
