Another
Venice Level

This is a TR2 level. Although called
Another Venice Level, the load/save passport shows The Cold War.

Try not to use the flares until you reach the dark machine room. It helps to
play this level in a dark room. I saved the game, used a flare to see what to
do, and then reloaded the save game to work in the dark. This way I kept the
two flares until I really needed them to see. [End note]
You start on a balcony. Go through
the only open doorway and shoot a thug and a dog. Enter the room and do not go into the alcove to
the immediate right. There are no flames but it seems to be a deadly fireplace.
Go straight into the room with the bookcases. Enter the next room through the
doorway in the corner. Pick up P1 (fuse) from
the floor near the back window. Notice an item on the floor of the room behind
the window mesh. Return to the bookcases. Go behind the sofa and climb the only
climbable bookcase in the corner. Run and jump onto the opposite wall bookcase
and pull down the wall switch in the corner alcove. You get a cut scene of a
door opening. Get down and exit this room.
Go left through the open door and
shoot a dog. Go down the steps and shoot another
dog. Exit into the plaza that you may have saw
from the start. Go behind the statue and pick up the Guardroom
Key from the ground. Return back up the steps and go straight to the
large double doors at the end of the room. Use the guardroom key to open the
doors. To the right you can see a counter and a tunnel behind it. To the left
is an area with a statue and a closed trap door. Go straight and left to pick
up a small medipack
in front of a closed door.
Return to the area with the counter.
Go up the right steps to find Automatic Pistol Clips.
Up the left steps is a closed door. Jump over the counter and enter the tunnel.
Drop down to a second tunnel. At the end, climb down a wall ladder to a lower
tunnel. Follow this tunnel and be careful to jump over the holes filled with
broken glass. At the end, climb a ladder up into another area. Go straight and
notice a closed door to your left. Continue and enter a room with a receptacle
and a red curtain at the right wall. Walk through the red curtain and go down
some steps. Walk through another red curtain and enter the room behind the window
mesh. Pick up the Automatic Pistols from the
room floor.
Return to the previous room and
place the fuse in the receptacle. You get a cut scene of a trap door dropping
open. Turn around and shoot three thugs. The
thug with shotguns is the most dangerous and drops M16
Clips. Pick up a small medipack
and Automatic Pistol Clips from the bodies of
the other two thugs. Exit this room and enter the open door that was closed
earlier. Pull down the wall switch just inside the door to the left. You get a
cut scene of another door opening. Now climb down the ladder and return through
the tunnels back to room with the counter.
Go straight into the next room. Go
behind the short brick wall and find the open trap door. Climb down a very long
ladder into a tunnel. Go to the end and drop into a sewer with water. It is a
short drop as you exit by this same route. Follow the sewer and dive into the
water. Swim left, surface and pull up onto a ledge. Follow the tunnel until you
reach a T-junction. Ignore the right branch and go left. You will reach a dark
flooded room. Swim down into a hole in the far left corner and pick up the silver dragon for secret
#1.
Swim to the opposite wall and look
for an underwater tunnel near the wall bottom behind a column. Swim through the
tunnel and surface in another dark flooded room. Pull up on the only possible
platform. Run and jump to the next platform in the corner. Run and jump to grab
the next corner platform and pull up. Go to the other end of the platform. Run
and jump to grab a short column across the water towards your right. It is hard
to see because all the bricks look the same and the column is not obvious to
immediately notice in the dark. Turn left and pull up onto a ledge. Follow the
ledge to the end. Run and jump across the water to another ledge. Jump around
the corner to a ledge. Go to the raised platform at the end. Turn around and
pull up onto a higher ledge.
Follow the short tunnel, in either
tunnel branch, to the top of a slope. Stand jump to the middle of the slope and
pick up a large medipack.
Stand jump over the broken glass and you are on a ledge over a water pool. Jump
in and surface. Find a platform where you can pull up. That is the exit for
later. In the opposite wall is a wide tunnel. Save the game and swim there.
Follow either side branch tunnel. Pull up onto a platform and shoot two thugs. This was actually hard as the thugs push
you into the water and shoot you. But you cannot shoot back while in the water.
Pick up P2 (circuit card) from one dead thug.
Swim back to the exit platform and pull up.
Follow the wide tunnel and drop into
the water. Follow the watery tunnel to a T-junction. Straight ahead is the
route you took earlier. Take the left branch and dive into the water. Swim
straight and take a right branch tunnel. Stand up at the end and pull up to the
left to exit the sewer. Climb the very long ladder and you are back at the open
trap door. Exit through the large double doors. Go straight and pass the
bookcases room. Enter the door and go down the steps to the area where you
found the first key. The door in the wall is now open.
Stand at the side of the open door
at an angle. Stand jump to grab the ladder inside the door. Climb down to the
bottom. Go behind the ladder and stand jump with grab over the water to glide
into a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to three moveable boxes. Push the left box #1
once. Push the middle box #2 twice. Follow the new tunnel and push box #1 into
a dead-end alcove to get it out of your way. Move the right box #3 into the
entrance tunnel to reveal a small room. Enter the small room and place the
circuit card in the receptacle. You can ignore box #4. Now pull back the middle
box #2 twice. Go behind the box into the new tunnel and climb the ladder.
You pull up into another room. Go
straight into the next room and then left into a room with a table and chair.
Pull down the switch on the wall to open a door at the top of the stairs. This
seems to be a shortcut back near the start. I do not know why it is used. Turn
around and shoot two thugs.
Return back to the room where you
entered this area. Be careful of the hole in the middle of the floor. Go out either exit doorway and go left to find a ladder on the
wall. Pull up into an area with stacks of boxes. There is a closed door behind
you. Go forward and to the right to push a moveable box. Pick up shotgun shells and a small medipack that was underneath the box. Go to the
column in the corner and press the pushbutton. Go to where you climbed up and
notice that the door is open. You can also hear machinery.
From the front of the open door, run
and jump with a right curve to reach the area with the boxes that is behind the
fence. Push the first box, forward twice, and pull it between the two brown
boxes. Stand on that box and push the top moveable box forward. Pick up the Guardroom Key from underneath the top box. Run and
jump back to reach the open door. Follow the tunnel to a very dark area. I hope
you saved your two flares. Go through and opening in the wire mesh and follow
the tunnel around the fans to reach a dark room. Drop into the room and hop
into an alcove in the opposite wall. Use the guardroom key to open the trap
door in the floor. Hop back onto the floor and hop back again to grab the edge
of the trap door. Safety drop into the room below.
There are four tunnels leading from
this room. As you land from the hop backs noted above, you should be facing one
tunnel.
Turn to the right and jump into that
tunnel. Go behind the block and climb the wall over the mesh and back flip near
the top. Pick up much needed flares and climb
down. Return to the room.
Turn to the right and jump into the
next tunnel. Go behind the block and climb the wall over the mesh and back flip
near the top. Pick up shotgun shells and climb
down. Return to the room.
Go straight across the room and jump
into the next tunnel. Go behind the block and pick up a small medipack. Return to the room.
Turn to the left and jump into the
tunnel. Go behind the block and see a M16 behind the mesh. Climb the wall over
the mesh and back flip near the top. You are in a tunnel. Go straight, right,
and right again. You should find an opening in the wire mesh. Turn left into
the tunnel near the opening. Go to the end and to the right to fall into a
hole. Pick up P2 (circuit card) and return to
the opening in the wire mesh.
Jump at an angle through the
opening. It may take a few tries to find a place where you do not land on the
broken glass. Climb a brick wall and climb down on the other side. Go up some
steps and hop over a railing. Pick up the M16
off the floor. You can pull up through the railing. Pull up and return to the
room with the broken glass. Walk through the glass to avoid damage. Climb the
wall back up to the top. Go to the right tunnel to the end to find a hole.
Climb down an unmarked wall into a tunnel.
Go to the right around the boxes and
see a mesh wall with a dark band in the middle. Hop up into that dark band and
into another tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a slope and save the game. Hop onto
the slope and slide down. Jump and grab the top of the next slope. Pull up and
slide down and jump to grab another slope. Slide down to a flat area. You may
have seen the exit tunnel between the two slopes. From the flat area, hop up
into the next opening and shoot a thug. Pick up flares from the body.
To the right are some moving fans.
There is also an open door back to the beginning area of the level. Behind the
fans is a jade dragon for secret #2. I could not get through the fans to get
the jade dragon. I still have a circuit board but did not find a receptacle
anywhere to turn off the fans. I never found the gold dragon that was the TR2
third secret either. I gave up trying to get the item.
Climb the boxes opposite the fans
and drop down near the wire mesh with the dark band. Go to the slope again.
This time, grab the first slope, pull up and jump with a right curve into an
open tunnel. Go to the end and climb the back wall. Pull up into an outdoor
area. There are closed doors at the other end of the pool. Jump into the water
and swim to the bridge. Under the bridge and near the top is an underwater
tunnel on the right side. Swim into that tunnel and go to the end. Pull down
and underwater lever and swim back to the pool. Pull up out of the pool and
shoot two thugs and a dog.
Go to the open doors and enter the room. Loop around to the right and press a
pushbutton to end the level.
