See the introducing
cutscenes: a harpy being defeated, the harpy being resurrected, Wiwi being
kidnapped, a man running away shouting “Help! Help!”, and a boy trying to
rescue him saying “Dad! I will save You!”. Admire amount of work put into those
anims, slide down, fall into a cave to lol at Lara in Larson’s clothes, and…
Turn around to find the
dropped binocs.
CHAMBER OF SECRETS
Take the left path and
open the trapdoor at the end. Safety drop down. It is written: Chamber of
Secrets – only for bold and patient. So if You feel like this at the
moment, step on the higher pedestal. The map flips and You can see the just
created way leading into the dungeon. If You go ahead on the junction, You will
see a camera showing You the Golden Snake. Such snakes are secrets in this
game. You can’t pick it up yet. Turn around and go right twice. From the
pedestal, get the 1st SECRET. Don’t mind the falling block. But a
similar one will squash Lara in the third alcove (if You enter it, a sound will
warn You of the danger). To deactivate the trap, push the fireplace closest to
You, and the one at the opposite end of the corridor, then get out of the
dungeon and go through the raised grate to rotate a gem switch. The block is
gone, but You need to press the gem once more to make the item accessible. This
restores the previous room, but without an active trap. So when it’s done,
safely enter the third alcove and collect the 2nd SECRET. Nothing
more to do here. The 3rd Golden Snake awaits You somewhere else, so
press the high fireplace near the exit to make the way out of the place. Climb
back through the trapdoor and return to the starting point.
APOPTOSIS
If You take the right
path, You will get the last secret, but miss a climatic cutscene. So I
recommend You to: save the game, take the middle (W) path, approach the grates
on Your right to see some evil, hooded guys behind the twin slopes, turn the
switch, go through the door, pass the corridor, open the trapdoor and hop down
to get squashed by a boulder. And then…
TWIN SLOPES
Take the right path, hop
on the polerope (You need to do a standing or running jump), climb a little bit
higher and backflip over the fence to land on a platform. See the slopes facing
each other? Grab the N ledge and shimmy to the very end, until You can pull up.
From the raised part of the floor behind the skeleton You’re facing, pick up
the item. It says “Golden Snake (secret)”, however it doesn’t count as one.
Jump on the other side and get through the only accessible corridor to find a
turnable statue. Rotate it to make the way out – a door opens at the edge of
the abyss. Pass it and open the trapdoor.
BOULDER CORRIDOR
Grab the ledge of the
hole and wait until You see a boulder. Safety drop, slide down and escape to
the alcove on Your left. Spot the opposite one. In the right moment (seconds
after the closer boulder rolls away to the left), take a running start to reach
the higher part of the corridor and jump curving left to land in the hole. Go
through the next trapdoor, at the end of this passage, to slide down.
BLADE PLATFORMS
Watch some brutal scenes
and make some space for the run-up: at about 1,5 square from the ledge, and in
a middle of the shelf, would do the thing. Timing: 2 seconds after the knives
do the cut. The sequence: a running jump, the next run-up curved left, and the
next running jump with feign grab (hitting Action lenghtens it) to land on the
safe platform. Jump over the slope, stand in the middle of the tile, face the
next set of knives, make 1 step backwards, 1 step forwards and You should be in
the right spot. Wait 1,5 second after the blades cut the air and do the next
sequence, which is: a standing jump, curved running jump, another curved
running jump and a running jump with grabbing the safe ledge. Pull up and
approach the broken bridge.
GETTING THE 1ST
KEY
Jump on the other side.
See the lonely platform on the S? Face its lower end, standing in the NE corner
of the higher stair. You need to make the distance as short as possible, so
jump up once and You should land in the right spot. Now do the running jump to
grab the platform ledge and pull up. Turn around and make a running jump into
the hole in the wall. Crawl backwards under the grate to drop into the
corridor. Turn another snake and pick up the laser sight (not necessary for
finishing the game, so if You missed it, don’t panic). You saw the door open –
get back on the bridge and enter the passage it leads to. It leads to a chamber
filled with wasted skeletons. One of them “gives” You some flares, another one
– a revolver combinable with the laser sight (also not necessary for finishing
the game, so if You missed it – see the previous brackets). Go through the
raised grate and watch a perfect synchronization of anims and sounds (this is a
WT and I shouldn’t make comments like this one, but as a musician, I just
couldn’t resist). Shoot the skull between Piega’s gargoyle’s feet. Both pistols
and revolver can help You with it. Pick up the Stampers Access Key and get all
the way to the other side of the broken bridge.
SOLVING THE STAMPERS
Place the key in the red
keyhole and get in the corridor. Rotate the gem. Don’t try to time the stampers
– there are invisible spikes as well! You will understand their function soon,
but now just rotate the red gem switch again, in the right moment to stop the
stampers when they are high above the ground. Pick up the tortured knight’s
Swamp Access Key and don’t mind the holes in the floor behind him – You will
understand their purpose later as well.
THE SWAMP
You have the key, use it
in the right keyhole and get through the door to face the swamp. You can do
nothing here, so go back… and face the Invulnerable to bullets guardian! Lure
him behind the stampers, runjump over the first hole, grab/pull up and jump
over the second one. When he does the second jump following You, get back over
the holes, sprint to the switch and kill the guy with stampers (actually, with
those invisible spikes). Stop them again and, from Your once undead, now
completely dead opponent, obtain the Cell Guide Key. Get out of the corridor,
open the middle door and let the guide make a path for You across the swamp.
Jump in and find the Guardian’s Diamond in the SE corner. Get on the new bank
to see the guide saying goodbye.
THE HADES SECT HQ
Step into the new
corridor. At the end, place the gem in the guardian’s chest and go through the
door. Watch out! For steam emitters just before You enter the cave. Time them
and behold the resurrection machine. Now, just after witnessing her friend’s
death, the only word Lara says is Wow. Stand next to the device to
refill Your health.
SECRET KEY II
You need two Secret Keys
to open the doors. The first one is in the snake’s mouth hanging on the wall to
the left of the central rock (the one with a pentagram on it). Get in the
passage next to it for some more flares (I really love this item).
SECRET KEY I
Get on the other side of
the rock, climb the fireplace and the block above it (another cutscene is
shown), runjump into the nearest passage on the NW to find a skeleton behind
the fire and realize this is the one posessing the second Secret Key. The other
one in the same place has the shotgun with 32 additional normal shells for You
(48 in total). It will become Your main weapon from now on.
SKELETON’S SOUL…
Having both Secret Keys,
use them to open the doors on the other side of the cave (ground floor…???)
Secret Key II grants You access to the left door, behind which You can spot a
not so dead skeleton – his (or her?) soul is still alive and shining. Seems the
author wants You to shatter the skeleton and pick up his soul, but I just
ducked and grabbed the item. In such case, a more atmospheric effect is seen –
the skeleton vanishes from the ground.
…& MAGIC RUBY
With help of Secret Key
I, get through the right door. Welcome to the Cavern of Jumping Crystals. One
of them is pickable – see the pentagram on the ceiling to get a hint!
THE PUSHABLE
Get back to the main
cave. Bounce off the slopes above the Secret Key II door and pull up on the
above platform with a skeleton to watch another cam showing You one more
skeleton on the floor (I can’t understand what it’s supposed to tell me). The
guy You stand next to has its soul already in the right place, so You know You
need to place another one in one of the two remaining skeletons. Watch out! You
will die if You try to place it in the right one! Choose the middle one and
watch the pushable.
PRISON
On the junction, choose
the left corridor. Approach the skeleton from its left side to avoid the blade
and the falling ceiling when picking up Harpy Wings. Ignore the remaining
corridor – there is a reach-through grate, with an item behind it, but trying
to grab the pickup results in being cut by another skeleton’s blade. However,
this particular death looks hilarious, so You can check it – with saving the
game first, of course. But what You need to do is to climb through the hole
created after the ceiling has fallen, and backflip (with a midroll) on the
upper floor. Watch out for little beetles coming out of the hanging guy’s
corpse. Follow the corridor, ignore the second corpse, hop over the slope. The
floor is about to collapse – You can reduce the fall damage by jumping on the
slope right before it happens, and grabbing the ledge. Safety drop, pick up the
Golden Hand and grab the W grate. Keep to its left side while pulling up. This
way, You will avoid the next skeleton’s sword. Hop over the slope and remember
the Hand of Rathmore puzzle from TR3 Gold - The Lost Artifact: Reunion.
This is the same one – place the Golden Hand in the nearest corpse and get the
heck out of here! As the next swarm of beetles bursts out of the PUZZLE_DONE.
MIRAGE SHELVES
Outside, turn around to
see a shelf, save the game and draw the shotgun. Jump on the shelf and shoot
immediately to kill a demon. It’s large, but it shouldn’t push You off the
ledge – anyway, it is recommended to keep Lara close to the wall. When the
mirage dies, hop on the SW shelf and slide down backwards to grab the
ledge. Release, slide, grab again and shimmy right to pull up and jump curving
left to land on the lower roof. Safety drop into the hole.
NO HORROR WITHOUT A
SPIDER
Go downstairs to find a
slot for the Magic Ruby. Place it and get through the door. A skeleton invites
You to the next part, but You need to give him Harpy Wings first, for him to
open the door for You. Enter the cave full of eyes emerging from the ground and
approach (meanwhile, the brave young man fights another Guardian resistant to
bullets!) the grated door. Uh…disgusting – Lara says, seeing a creature
eating a spider. Unfortunately, You won’t be able to fight this monster. But
several steps later, watch out anyway – if there is a cobweb next to You, it’s
obvious a giant spider is about to leap down on You. Several shells should
handle it. Climb its cobweb, and the above plants, go around the right corner,
descend a little bit, release the plants and grab the crawlspace edge. Pull up
and get into the spider’s nest for Knife Blades Access Key. Get out to see Your
ally fighting the Black Harpy. Oh, no… It’s a…
BACKTRACK
Go back down the cavern
and fight another mirage. In the Hades Sect HQ, climb up the slopes to reach
the skeleton platforms again, and pull up onto the ledge above them to see a
fatal result of the just witnessed battle – the young, brave man is dead – this
is rather bad. But he leaves You one big and two small medis, and this is
rather good.
DEATH TO THE HARPY
Its single attack can
kill You. Back in the Knive Blades area, use as many shells as it is necessary
for the Black Harpy to die. And it is necessary to use a lot of them. Don’t
care if You miss – You have twice enough ammo.
INTO THE PORTAL
When it falls, enter the
N corridor and place the Knife Blades Access Key in its slot. Now You can
rotate the gem deactivating blades. Jump on the platform with dead Wiwi on it.
Sometimes, the following cutscene doesn’t activate properly. In such case, just
stand next to Wiwi once again.
Now Lara realizes her
friend is dead for sure… but the guide takes care about poor Wiwi – and the
resurrection machine is used to bring the Elf back to life.
Now go back to the spider
cavern (on Your way there, You will see the guide) and proceed further than You
got for the first time. Watch the guide talk to some head, open the portal and
disappear in it. Follow him and approach the bridge to see the finale.
The Hades Sect members
are imprisoned, both father and his son are resurrected, and the machine is
destroyed.
