The Forsaken Monastery

Caves
Slide down the slope and climb the left hand ladder, then backflip on the high
pillar. Curve run and jump to the lower part of the other pillar. [Comment by the author: “There is actually a
monkeyswing that should be used instead”] Head through the passage and
slide down, but jump before you drop onto the spiked floor. Follow the next
passage and kill two leopards. Up the stairs find a Broken Spike (a crowbar) on
the left top, use it to open the door up the stairs in the passage. Push the
block in once and then follow the right crawlspace around the block and to a
junction. Get out of the narrow passage left and push the block once.
Spikes
Follow the spike passage timing the run over the active ones. When you finally
have made it climb the block at the end when the spikes are gone and slide into
a new room. Use the jumplever in this room and look at the painting on the wall
– it seems to be a number code.
Jump on the slope again when the spikes are gone, then jump to the
next slope and grab the crawlspace to pick up the Bronze Bell for Secret 1. Drop down and jump over the slope (standing
diagonally to it works best) in the spike passage and return to the crawlspace.
Outside Area
Crawl left now to the end and get out of the crawlspace again, then jump down
the rocks. Two skeletons appear when heading through the valley; unlike their
“normal” friends they actually can be shot. Jump up two right rocks where you
can stand on to get Secret 2, the Silver Bell.
Slide back down and head to the block passages. Head to the far SE corner to
find the Gold Bell for Secret 3. There is
another symbol number just above.
Pillar Puzzle
Head back W to the start and find on each row some picture numbers. Climb on
the W block and start jumping. You can solve these alone as you just need to
add the symbol numbers, then you will get another number, search for the symbol
and jump on the tile above the symbol. In the first row the right tile is safe
(obviously the numbers don’t give you the right hint here), in both the second
and the third the left one and in the fourth row the middle one. Jump to the
ledge with the object and grab it, it appears to be a Mysterious Axe and you
will slide down so backflip onto the last tile (if you dropped you can climb up
using the S pillar, but remember only the middle tile is safe so shimmy around
until you can climb up). The way back: The fourth row is now the first and as
you stand on the middle tile without dying this is the safe one. In the now
second one the left is safe, in the third the middle one and in the fourth the
right one.
The Escape
Jump on the rocks ahead and drop down. Climb a high S slope and slide down to
where you came from, jump up the slope to the crawlspace. Return all the way to
the room with the door you opened with the spike. Jump backwards onto the slope
and jump to grab the monkeyswing. Turn and swing over the slope, drop down and
drop even further into the gap. Climb the ladder near the spikes and climb up [Comment by the author: "You see that
the spikes are still active, you must climb back to the previous room and move
the pushblock behind the door towards the wall. Now you can climb the ladder
and climb up."] Follow the passage to the starting room again. Drop down and find a wall
is broken here so jump up on the uneven block. Jump to the opposite block,
climb the ladder and shimmy right around the corner, climb up to the top and
shimmy right to finish this level.
