NOTE: I have listed no secrets or pickups unless the pickup is in a
secret or is something that the player needs to perform a task. Sorry, but I
feel that the players should not be given everything in a walkthrough and that
they should just use a walkthrough as a guide to get from the beginning to the
end of a level. Everything else in the level should be done by the individual
players.

There is an interesting secret to be found in this level that's not
documented in the walkthrough that follows.
To get that secret, you must find both pieces of the Portal Guardian, and
in the last section of the level, when you place it, you are rewarded by a
visit to the “zoo.”
One piece, the Hathor Effigy, is found at the beginning of the level. When
you place the Scroll, a door opens at the top of the previous high room. You
may want to return there before proceeding with the adventure; otherwise,
after this point it is not possible to backtrack.
The second piece is in the first cave with lava. There is a crawlspace
there, leading to a little room with the Ornate Handle.
After the opening flyby, head toward the opening to your left, but don't
go through it. Instead, align Lara so she is facing south, then
run/jump/grab/pullup onto the ledge. Now head to the opening to your right, go
into passage and up the steps to the ledge above. Next, stand in front of the
closed door and align Lara with the rope. Then run/jump/grab the rope and swing
to the ledge across from you. When you are safely on the ledge, press the tile
button and watch a cut scene of two doors opening. Next, dive into the pool
below, surface, exit the water and either avoid or deal with the croc that is
roaming around the pool.
Once you have made shoes and accessories out of the pesky reptile, head
through the opening and up the steps to the ledge you started this level on.
Next, head to the far door on the right and get the pharao's knot. Once Lara
has the knot in her possession, dive back into the pool, surface and exit the
water in front of the receptacle for the pharao's knot.
Place the knot in its receptacle to open the door to your left. Go into
the next room and get the music scroll off the pedestal, then place it on its
stand next to the closed door in front of you to open it. Go through the open
door and use the floor lever, then go to the open door on the west wall into
the next room. In this room jump/grab/pullup onto the raised block as fires
start in the lower part of the room. Now run/jump/grab/pullup/slide/jump/avoid
the spiked ball/land on the ledge at the other end of the room. (Note: I had a
glitch where the spiked ball came down too soon, so I had to jump toward the
sloping block and land in the fire, which did not outright kill Lara, but I
needed to use a savegame editor to give Lara lots of large medi-packs.) Now
head through the opening to the next room. As you enter the room, the doors on
the left and right open while the big door in front of you remains closed.
So, head into the door on the right and climb the pole to the two ledges
above. One ledge has a floor lever and the other has a tile button, both have
to be used, so use them and head down the pole to the other pole beyond the
other door and repeat what you did here and the big door will open.
Go through the now open big door into the next room and watch a flyby.
After the flyby is finished, drop down the floor below and head to the place
you saw in the flyby, dealing with some jackals that are waiting for you to get
close to the tile button. After you press the tile button, head back to the
closed door you saw when you dropped dow to the floor; it is open now. In the
next room is a gem on a pedestal. After the gem is in Lara's possession, head
out of this room and climb the ladder to your right, back up to the ledge where
you were at when you entered this room.
Now head west to the pole and climb it to the ledge above where there is
a receptacle for the gem. Once the gem is in its receptacle head back down to
the main floor and through the open gate on the south wall into the next room.
As you enter this room, Lara falls down a hole in the floor to a canal below
with a croc swimming around. Surface and exit the water, then look for the
ladder. Once you have found the ladder, climb it to the next room, then head
through the opening to a room with a pool. There are steps leading up to a
floor lever and several moveable columns are in the pool.
First, go and use the floor lever, then head back down the ladder in the
other room. When you reach the canal area, head around the corner to the east
and the open door there. As you enter the room a jackal and two bats will
attack, so deal with them, then head into the dark area of the room around the
corner and use the floor lever. A flyby of the now empty pool with the moveable
columns will play, so after it is over head back there and let's move some
columns around.
The object is to gain access to the opening, so move the columns around
til you can go through the opening. Once you have access to the opening head
down the steps to the next room. In this room there is a big door in front of
you and a tile button on your left and right. Leave the one on the left alone
(it is a trap), so press the tile button on your right to open the big door. Go
through the big door into the next room.
You are now in a room with lava canals. Now turn right and
run/jump/grab/pullup onto the block on the other side of the lava canal. Then
jump/grab the crevice and shimmy to the left til you can pull up and get the
pharao's pillar and you will also hear the sound of a door opening up near by.
Now drop/hang and shimmy back around the corner to the block, then run/jump
back across the lava canal.
Next, head to a small mound of rocks, face the other side of the lava
canal, then run/jump to the other side. Once there, crawl under the rock to
another small mound of rock then run/jump to the other side of the canal. Now
that you are safely on the side, you heard the door open; go through it into
the passage.
Follow the passage til you come to the next room and watch a flyby.
After the flyby, align Lara with the rope, then run/jump/grab it, then swing to
the other side of the canyon. Once you are safely across the canyon, head into
the cave and head down to the canyon floor while dealing with some bats along
the way and a couple of wild boars once you reach the bottom.
After all the critters are gone, head to your right and into the small
cave. There is a crawlspace to your right as you enter, so use it to get to
another small cave. There are stacks of crates in this cave and what looks like
a fence attached to one stack of crates. Climb the fence to the cave above and
dive into the pool of water. Swim through a huge opening into a small lake with
two waterfalls. Surface and exit the water at the small waterfall, then head
into the passage. Follow the passage til you come to a ladder, climb the ladder
to the room above. Turn around and head to the tile button and press it, then
wait for the earthquake to stop. Now head back to the first small cave you
entered and see that the lava is now water. There is a crawlspace across from a
waterfall that used to be a wall. Go through the crawlspace back to the canyon.
Once you are back in the canyon, head to the skeleton of Indiana Jones
lying on the ground; there is a small opening in the canyon wall directly
across from it. Go through the small opening toward what looks like a brick
wall (hmmm, strange place for a dwelling), then drop down into the next room.
Head to the fireplace and enter as the fire goes out. Now climb the back of the
chimney to the room above. In this room is a place for a pharao's knot (we'll
come back to that later), there is also a crate. Climb up on the crate face
north, then jump/grab/pullup into the passage. Head into the next passage and
get trapped in this area when a door closes behind you.
In this passage is a closed door to your left, turn right and take the
next right, then the next right and stop in front of a moveable column to your
right. Pull out the column once, then go around and pull it out once more.
Next, go back around and push it all the way to the odd floor tile. Head to
your left, then take the second right and pull out the column there twice, then
go around and push it once. Now go back around and push it once more, turn
around and take the next right past the door you entered this area by, around
the corner then the next corner to the column and pull it once. Next go back
all the way around and push it til you can push it no more, then go around and
push it once onto the odd floor tile.
Once the column is on the odd tile, a door opens behind you.
Go through the open door and press the tile button, then jump into the
waterhole behind you and get the pharao's knot. Surface, exit the water while
avoiding the croc swimming around in this pool and head back down to place the
knot in its receptacle. Then head back down the chimney to the room below and
through the door between the bookcases on your right to the next room. You are
in a lava room with raised blocks, make your way to the huge closed door on a
ledge on the other side of the room. Once you have made it to the ledge, the
door will open giving you access to a hall with unlit torches lining the wall.
The torches will burst into flame as you head down the hall to the closed door
there, which will open as you near it.
Head through the door into the next passage, turn left then head around
the corner and take the next left. Follow this passage to the next room. Lying
on the floor in front of a block is a gate key, pick up the keys and look
through the gold mesh to see where you need to go next. Head to the waterhole
you saw through the gold mesh and fall into the water. Now swim down and
through the underwater tunnel, then up, surface and exit the water in the next
room. In this room is a huge block with a face on it with two tile buttons on
its sides, there is also a closed door to your left. Go press the two tile
buttons, then head through the door into the passage. In the passage there is a
pit to your right, one in front of you and an alcove to your left next to the
pit in front of you. To avoid the spiked ball that will drop when you near the
pit in front of you, run into the alcove and safely watch the spiked ball drop
into the pit. Now you can head on down the passage.
Just past the skeleton lying in the passage is a monkeyswing; use it to
get to the safe area beyond the fires below. Once across the fires below, jump
over the pit and head out through the opening to the grassy area with the
temple in it.
Deal with two ninjas as you enter the area, then take note that you need
two pharao's pillars to open the door to the temple. Since you only have one,
you need to find its twin, so head around to the back of the temple and go in
the back door. In the room you enter is a hole in the floor, fall down into the
water below. Now swim through the underwater tunnel til you can surface and
exit the water in a cave. Bats will attack as you exit the water, so deal with
them then get the second pharao's pillar off the raised block in front of the
face tile. Next, head out through the opening back into the temple yard and head
around to the front. Two ninjas will attack as you make your way around to the
front of the temple, so deal with them then go and place the two pillars in
their receptacles to open the door. Once the door is open, head into the temple
and go towards the sitting statue in the back of the room then the level ends.
