BEACH HOUSE OF A FRIEND

Slide down to a flat surface. You could climb up left and get to the beach area that way, but instead hop down N to the wooden walkway for flares at the far end. There's a crocodile prowling about below, so you may wish to deal with it now rather than later. Go back along the wooden walkway and continue S to a small pool and a closed gate. Just over the pool of the left side is an obscured opening. Take a running jump to grab it and crawl inside (unusual but appropriate animation).  Lower Lara down the other side for SECRET #1 and pick up the shotgun ammo and small medipack. Slide down left, go around and come out near the small pool.

 

Follow the wooden walkway to the beach area W, turn right and find shotgun ammo at the NE corner. Go back S, shoot the wooden barriers and enter the hut for flares and attract the attention of a wild boar. Continue around to the other opening, stop for uzi ammo and go up the path to find a boulder hoisted up by a rope. Get onto the ledge beside the boulder and jump over N to the ledge surrounding the rather Spartan beach house (assuming that's what it is).

 

Go down right (E) and use the rocks to jump onto the roof. Slide, grab and shimmy left until you can pull up at a flat spot. Face NE and side flip left so you land on other side of the roof, the side facing the beach. Slide, grab and shimmy left once again until you reach the flat spot where you can pull up. Pick up the ORNATE HANDLE, hang from the edge and shimmy left until you can safely release.

 

Run along the ledge surrounding the house until you reach an open area where a wild boar attacks from the right. Loop around right into a small alley with shotgun ammo, then go to the S alley where the boar came from for a small medipack at the end. The rear part of the house is for later, so return to the SW corner and jump across S to the flat ledge beneath the suspended boulder. Make your way S along the upper rock ledge and hop down left near the end for uzi ammo.

 

Pull back up onto the rock ledge and go to the W end of the thatched roof. Jump SW onto the slope, slide and grab, shimmy right and pull up in front of a crawl space. Enter and crawl until you can stand, continue around the corner until you reach a closed gate and stoop to shoot the lock. Wait a few seconds and the gate slowly opens. Go on in to find a TOKEN on the raised slab. Go back through the crawl space and safety drop to the ground.

 

Head N and loop around right into the lower hut. Continue up to the suspended boulder and jump across N to the ledge surrounding the beach house. Go around right to the back of the house and note the closed trap door in the floor, together with the nearby pole receptacle. Pull up onto one of the ledges and locate the uzi ammo in the SE alcove. Go back to the thicker part of the ledge, stand at the E edge with the trap door in front of you and two squares to your left, and jump up to grab the small ladder surface.

 

Pull up onto the ledge, hop NE with grab onto the adjacent ledge and take a running jump NW to the central shaft. There are pickups you can reach from here: NE for shotgun ammo, SW to a crawl space for SECRET #2 and uzi ammo, and a shimmy right around the corner to a crawl space with a large medipack. Shimmy back the other way and safety drop from the E end, use the ladder to get back to the central shaft and jump to the NW ledge to find a receptacle for the Token. You hear the sound of a platform rolling open beneath you, so get down to the floor and shoot two wild boars.

 

Go outside and to the S alley where you encountered the first wild boar and picked up the small medipack earlier. Pull up right next to the mounted lantern and look down to find the TORCH. Take it back with you (Lara holds it aloft like a banner) past the closed trap door and loop around left to the back of the room to find a flaming pot you can use to light it (don't get too close to the flames). 

 

Go back around right past the trap door to the SW corner and jump across S to light the rope beneath the suspended boulder. The boulder drops and rolls into the sea, tripping open an underwater trap door. Leave the torch here, safety drop to the beach and wade out to the opened trap door. Take a deep breath, swim into the shaft and loop around right when you reach the boulder. Follow the winding passage to the SHOTGUN, flip turn and swim back the other way, passing an approaching crocodile. Surface, turn around and wade E toward the beach (not in the other direction, or the current will grab you with fatal results), wait for the crocodile to get near and deal with it.

 

For a secret, swim back down the shaft and this time turn left at the boulder and enter the small triangular opening. Follow past a couple of similar openings to SECRET #3 with uzi ammo and shotgun ammo. Don't go back the way you came, but on your way out of this cramped area light a flare and look for a small opening in the right (N) wall. Enter and go through a similar opening, where a burst of action music warns of an approaching crocodile. Turn right at the intersection and continue until you can surface and pull out. Shoot the crocodile, turn around and Lara looks up NE at a closed gate with keys hanging from a hook overhead. Arm yourself with the shotgun before picking up the HATHOR EFFIGY.

 

Two skeletons are awakened, so blast them into the water. Jump into the water, grab the large medipack in the NE corner and swim back through the small openings back to the boulder where three crocodiles are waiting. Continue up the trap door shaft, wade out of the water, turn around, wait for them to arrive and deal with them. Enter the lower hut S and go around to the beach house. Continue to the back area, combine the Hathor Effigy and the Ornate Handle and place the PORTAL GUARDIAN on the pole near the floor trap door to open it.

 

First, retrieve your torch (you left it on the ledge beneath the suspended boulder) and toss it into the opened trap door hole. Climb the ladder down after it into the area where you acquired the Hathor Effigy. Light the lantern on the right side of the NE gate and the GATE KEY magically appears at your feet. You may have discovered earlier that similar lanterns scattered about the beach house area can also be lighted, but it's apparently unnecessary to do so.

 

Open the E gate with the Gate Key, retrieve your torch, go inside and stand jump N over the spike tiles onto the slanted block. Walk forward and stand jump NE to the next slanted block. Turn and jump up SE onto the jutting platform and take a running jump slightly SW toward the ladder (note the closed trap door above). Light the nearby lantern (retracting a nearby window screen), drop the torch, hop back and drop down to the safe sandy area below. Walk forward and pull up into the crawl space for the CROWBAR. Get back out, pull up to the lighted lantern and retrieve your torch.

 

Carefully run off NW onto the safe sandy area, take a running jump NW onto the slanted block and hop up W into the now-accessible window. Light the lantern to retract another window screen, get back to the slanted block, jump NE to the next slanted block and repeat. Do the same with the third lantern in the E window, turn around, hop to the platform, drop your torch and open the gate with the crowbar. Pick up the HORSEMAN'S GEM inside and hear the nearby trap door dropping. Jump there and climb up to a different section of the beach.

 

Shoot three crocodiles and grab the nearby flares. Run counterclockwise around the huge structure to find 3 x uzi ammo at the end. Go all the way around to the other end of the structure to find a SW opening. Pull up into the W passage, jump the gap and go around to an underground pool where you'll encounter another crocodile. Jump into the water, swim S, avoid the E side passage and pull out past the waterfall. Note the boulder and the spike trap ahead. Pull up W onto the sloped block and back flip to a higher ledge. Face N and take a running jump with grab into the waterfall. Walk forward and pick up the UZIS for SECRET #4.

 

Jump back to the previous ledge and safety drop to the floor. Hop down next to the spike tiles, triggering them harmlessly, run underneath the boulder and continue W up the ramp. Turn around at the wall and jump forward to grab the ladder. Pull up into the passage, get past the spike gauntlet (not at all difficult) and continue to a crowbar gate. Open it and do battle with another crocodile. You're back in familiar territory, so follow the wooden walkway back to the beach, enter the lower S hut and go back up to the beach house area.

 

Pick up a new TORCH in the same place you found the first one (in the rocks SE of the beach house), light it at the flaming pot (this is where you would have found it convenient to light all those other lanterns earlier) and go all the way back to the previous crowbar gate. Follow the passage past the spike gauntlet, pause to deal with a skeleton at the end, hop down into the passage below and carefully walk forward until the boulder you saw earlier is triggered. Hop back against the wall where you'll be safe, wait for the boulder to come to a complete stop and go down to jump over it.

 

Go up to the spike trap, back flip onto it when the spikes are up and jump off immediately into the waterfall area. Hop onto the NW block, stand jump onto the corner of the slope and jump off to land on the upper ledge. Go through the hanging vines, jump E up the slope, stand in a corner and light the pot to open underwater trap doors. You're done with the torch, so drop it and get back down. Jump into the water and this time go through the E side passage.

 

Allow the current to carry you down to the opened trap doors. Swim down until action music warns you of approaching danger, surface, wade out of the water and wait for a horde of crocodiles (I think I counted six) to arrive. When all is quiet again, jump back into the water and follow the passage to an opening. Pull out S, pick up the flares, hop NE and stand right facing S. Jump up to grab the slope, pull up and back flip onto a ledge. Jump up to grab the ceiling and monkey swing S, turn left and release to grab the corner ledge. Pull up and jump W to grab the ladder.

 

Climb up to a higher passage, turn right and climb the N ladder until you're near the top, back flip into a higher passage and hop up onto a triangular platform. Pull up left onto an outdoor patio and deal with the awakened skeleton. Pick up the nearby shotgun ammo to awaken a second skeleton, then place the Horseman's Gem in the E wall receptacle to open trap doors somewhere. Slide down W and hop down on the S side if you wish to engage three wild boars. Get over to the N side and find the opening in the W wall.

 

Pull up into the passage, jump over the hole and go around to the underground pool you visited earlier. Jump in, swim S and pull out at the waterfall. Turn around, stand right and jump to grab a hidden opening in the waterfall. Pull inside to find the opened trap doors. Back flip onto the slope, jump off to grab the facing slope, shimmy left and back flip onto a ledge. Turn around and hop over or around the obstacles until you reach the E opening that overlooks the beach. Take a running jump NE onto the walkway and continue until you trigger a dizzying flyby. When it stops, continue along the walkway as Lara's theme music begins to play and you finally run into the finish trigger.
