CASTLE OF THE MOON

Young Lara slides down in the dead of night near the front of the eponymous castle. Head SE away from the small pond and hop up left at the corner. Enter the nearby crawl space for a small medipack and get back out. Continue N along the rock ledge, go through an opening and on the other side jump W into a water hole. Swim forward past a closed gate and pull out W.

 

Head S toward a small cave and pick up the small medipack near the entrance. Continue to the next water hole, jump in and swim to a shaft leading upward. Grab the CATHEDRAL KEY before surfacing and pulling out into a small courtyard within the castle. Push the nearby floor lever to open the N gate for a later shortcut. Go up the stone ramp to the next higher level, loop around right to find a small medipack at the end of the corridor, then return to go through the N opening.

 

Follow the wooden walkway in a counterclockwise direction, jumping gaps as necessary, past an open S gate, until you reach a small platform with a large medipack. Return to that open S gate, enter a courtyard and use the Cathedral Key to open the next S gate. Hop the gap and go to the SW corner to find a small medipack. Safety drop from there to land near a floor lever. Push it for a cut scene in the E area ahead. At the same time a wraith is released, so quickly enter the E area, turn right and pull down the wall switch to open the S gate.

 

Enter to find a large medipack in the SW corner and a wall switch in the NE corner that opens an E gate leading outside. Run toward the far wall, loop around right and hop up to the ledge, step forward and jump over the slope, jump to grab the W ledge and pull up. Run forward and jump over the obstruction into a water hole, where the wraith will follow and be destroyed. The current will carry you over the edge to a shallow pool below. Pause for a small medipack, surface and wade out onto the steps.

 

Push the NE floor lever to open a gate in the N alcove. Pull up and over, then loop around right past the floor lever into the S room you opened with the wall switch, turn left into the outdoor area and hop onto the middle N block for the small medipack you were too busy fleeing from the wraith to look for earlier. Note the eye panels on either side of the block. Go back W and N to the corridor, turn right and cautiously approach the sleeping bull. You need its help shattering one of those eye panels you saw in the previous area.

 

First, go around the bull, giving it a wide berth, and pick up the HYMN OF THE MOON LIGHT on the floor directly behind it. Now awaken the bull and lure it to the outdoor area. Only one of the two eye panels can be shattered by the bull, the one on the right as you face it. Use your body as a red flag, standing in front of that eye panel and jumping over the bull at the last instant (made necessary by the blocks on either side of you) as the bull comes charging toward you. A door opens inside the castle, so return to the corridor, turn left and go outdoors through the W gates, turn right and run clockwise around the castle (pausing for a small medipack on the N ledge if you like) until you reach the S entrance you opened much earlier.

 

Go up the ramp to the second level, loop around right at the top and go through the W gate to a corridor you explored earlier. Turn left through the gate you opened with the Cathedral Key. Jump the ledges and windowsills toward the ceiling flames, pausing for a large medipack in the SE windowsill. Take a running jump NE past the flames to a ledge in front of the opened E gate. Go inside and look left to see a suspended boulder at the top of the ramp. Hop backwards up the ramp until the boulder is triggered, then run down and to your right as it rolls by.

 

Go back up the ramp, pull up left and jump NW to the platform where you'll find a music stand on which to place the Hymn of the Moon Light. A gate opens below and to your left. Drop from the W end of the platform to find the opened gate. Go inside and drop down to find a floor lever that opens another gate somewhere. Use the ladder in the NE shaft to climb back out. Go straight across the small courtyard into the opened W gate to reach a previously explored corridor.

 

Turn left, go through the S Cathedral Key gate and safety drop to the ground floor where you can hear the bull still trampling about. Go into the outdoor area with the eye panels and use the S ledge once more to jump and grab the higher W ledge. Pull up onto the veranda and hop onto the NW platform to find a small medipack at the corner. Jump into the water hole again and allow the current to sweep you over the side. Wade out of the water and squeeze past the S wooden bars.

 

Jump into the small water hole and follow the winding passage into a larger open area. Swim N and locate the ceiling air hole (right above a small medipack you'll find on the floor). Pull out S, hop N and follow up the ramp to a floor lever. Push it, go back the other way and jump back into the water. Swim S a bit, turn left and go into the small E opening and past the gate you opened with the floor lever. Swim down the shaft and follow to the end for the TOWER KEY. Return for air at the N ceiling hole if necessary, then exit this area via the S opening until you can pull out at the end.

 

Squeeze past the wooden bars once more, go across to the N opening and return to the outdoor area where the bull might be waiting for you. Run clockwise around the castle to the front entrance, go inside and up the ramp. Loop around right at the top once more, go through the W gateway, turn left into the Cathedral Key gateway and hop to the ornate tile. Pull up W onto the tall block, jump to the NE ledge and use the Tower Key to open the gate. Step forward into a fixed camera that you can break with the look key. Run forward to the plinth and take the golden artifact to end the level.
