ONE ROOM CHALLENGE 2021 - PLEASE, DON'T BREAK

As Lara slides into the hideout, draw your weapons to kill a thug gunning from your right. Facing the dining room behind the windows, find a block you can move next to the lamp on your right and move it towards the hallway threshold on the left side in order to reach an upper ledge. Get ammo from where the block was and the AUTOMATIC PISTOLS past the glass on the ledge above, then climb back down.

 

Ignore the two switches and doors for now and instead drop into the hallway behind the pushblock. Use the switch to open the kitchen, currently populated by two thugs and a dog. Dispose of them for some flares, plus some shotgun shells in the corner. Press all buttons in the room: one opens up a ventilation shaft just out of reach (for much later); the other opens up the walk-in freezer and not Winston, but a meathead and his pet rat rush out. Kill them and claim the GATE KEY plus uzi clips. The last button, next to the furnace, deactivates a fireplace in the bedroom.

 

Return to the initial room and run across to the switch on the opposite side. Guns in hand, enter and take a right at the junction to reach the bedroom. You're not alone though, a thug shoots at you from the inside while two meathead bros will try to flank you. Squeeze through the fireplace and climb up the wall to an opening high up. Save your game.

 

Past the corner, you'll slide into a series of breakaway tiles, so you need to quickly navigate past them. What's more, when you get to the last one, just below a spiked ceiling, you need to jump around the corner to land on a safe spot below. From this spot, quickly turn around and walk through the shattered glass on the floor to claim the SILVER DRAGON (SECRET #1). Quickly walk back, away from the spiked ceiling, and into the tunnel.

 

Just as you reach the junction, a loud noise will announce a ball rolling down towards you. Back off and watch it roll by. Run past it, get some flares in the alcove and then climb up to a ramp. You'll no doubt spot another ball at the very top, so take one step forward and then roll to activate it and immediately run off the edge, angling to the left to steer clear from its course.

 

Get back up, if you turn around you will spot an alcove with ammo, then run to the top of the ramp. Make an U turn at the top, noticing the detonator key just behind the windows, and drop into the hole to find the first DINING ROOM KEY. From the top you can jump to an alcove with more ammo as well, then proceed through the open painting to return to the hideout itself.

 

You finally come to the hallway with the raging traps you've been listening to for a while. To the left, past the metallic discs, you can get a small medipack and M16 clips. On the opposite end, past the wall knives, ignore the side passage for a moment and go through the gnashing doors to find a button to deactivate the frantic traps for some welcome quietness. Oh, and the LIBRARY KEY, of course.

 

Return to the side passage you just ignored and shoot the glass. As you safety drop to the floor, a thug will rush in. Turn around and pull the block back once to reach the wooden ledge above, where the UZIS await. As you drop back down, get the uzi clips behind the block and proceed through the open door where the last thug came from.

 

From the junction, head left to find a few closed doors. One requires two dining room keys, of which we only have one, and the other requires a dragon seal, so make a mental note to return here much later on. Proceed down the hallway and you'll go through the last door from the initial room; jump over the block and into the corridor on the right to use your library key.

 

Kill the meathead and his dog, then press the button by the radio for some classic music. If you look up on the walls, you'll notice several fallen trapdoors. There are two red tiles you must step on, one beneath the couch (near the small medipack) for a secret and the one in the corner. It's not a timed sequence, however, you cannot at any given moment move over the red carpet textures in the center. That is, when you're doing your ascent, you need to bend your jumps from one trapdoor to the next sticking close to the walls. Save before each jump to mitigate possible frustrations.

 

At the top, get the second DINING ROOM KEY, then jump to the trapdoor in the corner before going for the last trapdoor to reach the JADE DRAGON (SECRET #2). If you look on the opposite corner you'll see a TNT crate, but there's nothing you can do from here, so work your way down safely —from the trapdoor in the corner, you can hop back and tap Action for a second, so Lara doesn't grab the edge but rather glides onto the trapdoor below for a small health loss. A thug is expecting you on the ground floor.

 

Return to the entrance hall and take the passage to the left to use both keys and finally enter the dining room. Make an U turn to the right to find a switch, then hop onto the table and use it as a stepping stone to climb onto the stacked crates, behind which lies a large medipack. Hop onto the chandelier, then onto the raised painting and finally to the other chandelier.

 

Grab the top of the walls on the side opposite to the painting and hop across to the next ledge. If you look into this pit, you'll see treasure chests and armor below: climb safely down and move the crates to bring home the TIBETAN MASK. Using the stacked crates, get back to the top of the wall and deal with the thug who might have been pestering you from above. He leaves flares behind, and if you jump to the ledge behind the pillar you can get uzi clips.

 

From the second chandelier, now grab the ledge of the wall above the painting and pull up. On one end, you have the TNT box (no, not yet), and, on the other one, you finally find your way into the ventilation shaft you opened a long time ago. Jump inside.

 

As you step in, the loud fans will make themselves known. Drop into the first opening and follow it to the end to find a switch. It deactivates the first fan, so go back to the entrance and now jump over the gap to the upper ledge and slide past the fan into the dark. Safety drop to the next area, where two rats roam around some M16 clips and a switch. When you arrive at the next deactivated fan, light up a flare to spot a ladder: climb and backflip off the top to find the M16 ASSAULT RIFLE. Drop down safely and run past the fan.

 

Climb the next ladder and you'll come across one running fan. You need a perfect jump to get past it, so slide down and jump about half a second later. You'll suffer a bit of damage in the process, but you should land safely next to two switches. Pull both of them and use the ladder to shimmy sideways. When you get to the central ladder, go up a few rungs and backflip next to a shut-off fan. When you get to the painting, do not drop off but instead do a running jump to a ledge on the right where you can see a small medipack.

 

On the lower end of this tilted ledge, shimmy past the column and get up on the other side. When you pull up, you'll be at the mercy of another thug, so quickly take care of him and use the chandelier to hop back to the other side of the room. Past the treasure pit, find the next open painting in the area with the orange wallpaper. The cobwebs you see before jumping in hint at what's coming.

 

Dispatch all of the spiders, then get the small medipack. As you drop into the lava pit with pillars, use the gate key to clear your way to the detonator. The DETONATOR KEY lies near the glasses on the opposite end, so carefully jump across as some debris will fall from the ceiling as you proceed. Once you have the key, hop back but don't use it yet if you want to get the last secret! (Skip the next paragraph otherwise.)

 

Climb the ladder and another giant spider will have spawned. Once it's dead, it will leave the DRAGON SEAL behind. Remember where it goes? If not, drop to the hallway right beneath the painting, take the side passage to your right to drop down to the floor below, go through the open door and take a left. Inside the bathroom, pick up the GOLD DRAGON (SECRET #3) and get gifted a MYSTIC PLAQUE—more shinies to take home! Now, work your way back to the top: dining room, table, stacked crates, chandeliers, painting to the spider lair, lava room with pillars.

 

Save your gave before using the detonator key, as that TNT crate will finally go off and, as you might remember, we are at the bottom of the Adriatic sea. You have a limited air supply, so don't dilly-dally. Swim out through the painting and stick close to the glass roof, you'll find the exit near where the TNT crate was (on the very opposite corner). Outside the hideout, swim past the two barracudas towards the landed helicopter to finish this adventure.
