WINTER IN VENICE

As Lara slides down into a snowy alley, two crows greet her. Enter the doorway of the nearby building for a stack of goodies, then go around the snow mound in the center towards the zipline. Don't grab it just yet, instead look to the left, there's a part of the platform without railings and a running jump will get you there. Run across towards the railing and jump over it to a thin metal platform, then get to the other side to claim SECRET #1: a large medipack and ammo. Retrace your steps back to the zipline.

 

Ride it to the end to land inside a building, then explore both side passages to find two packs of flares. Return outside and dispatch one or two crows soaring by. Get some uzi ammo from the thin trellis in the back and go up the small flight of stairs. The way forward is blocked by grates, but you'll notice a ladder to the side, that's your way forward.

 

On the other side, you reach a small plaza with a covered area in the center. Two crows will show up promptly, give yourself some space to explore this place. To the left, beneath a metal balcony, is an alcove with a locked door. You can't do anything about it just yet. From that alcove, run in a straight line to the docked boat — you cannot mount any in this level, but what matters is lying directly beneath this one boat. The water is freezing, so make a quick dip to get the GOLD COLOURED KEY. Continue running clockwise around the perimeter, enter the next building and find flares and a small medipack inside. Get back outside and retreat slightly to find an opening high up on the building you just left, you can pull up there thanks to the snow piled up below.

 

Do a running jump to the top of the central structure, head to the right and jump over the slopes to land in a hole above the parked boats below. Get some ammo in there and climb back out via the ladder in the corner, then turn around and notice a flatter, slightly higher, edge of the structure to the left. Jump there and straight ahead to end up on that metal balcony you saw from below. Hop over the railing and shimmy to the end of the platform to pull up in a corner where SECRET #2 awaits: a large medipack.

 

Drop to the ground and prepare for a longer dip into the cold. Jump into the canal and swim to the end, climbing out into an opening on the right hand side. Get ammo amidst the crates and then use the key in the nearby lock. Beyond the door, find a small medipack on a crate and press the button by the next door. Kill the fella staring the flames and shoot the grate at the top of the steps to retrieve a HAMMER from within. Explore the room to find a small medipack and the UZIS, then make your way back to that door beneath the metal balcony.

 

Use the hammer to crack the door open and run through the narrow corridor. A dog and two armed goons attack. Find a small medipack behind the railing then climb the trellis in the corner to the perimeter above, run around to the other end where you'll find a handy CROWBAR... only to dispose of it seconds later, as the door you can open with it is immediately beneath you.

 

Inside the building, take a left and pull out the bookshelf three times, then run down the corridor and loop around the left wall to enter the passage where the block once stood, run downstairs and mind the two giant rats before diving into the water to get the next GOLD COLOURED KEY. Back upstairs, you will undoubtedly spot the lock on the opposite end of the hallway, use your key and proceed to the next floor. Two dogs later, you get to a corridor with several bedrooms.

 

Starting from the left side, press the far button and enter the bedroom, find some ammo on the cupboard. Open the door straight across for flares and also a button, by the window, which opens a trapdoor elsewhere. Back to the corridor, go up the corridor to a ladder at the top, through the trapdoor you've just opened, and explore this room to find goodies by the window and a BUNCH OF KEYS on top of a stone column in the back (use the nearby wooden crate as an aid). Back downstairs, down to the other end of the hallway open the nearby door for a small medipack, then use the keys to unlock the last door.

 

Just past the doorway, look to your right to spot another of those bookshelf blocks high up. A little further in, there are another three blocks on the ground floor. Line all three of them in a straight line in order to pull out the one above to reveal a button behind it. Time to backtrack for that door, so move the bookshelf out of the doorway, back to the corridor loop left and downstairs. Enter the big room to the right, where you'll find an armed goon by the fireplace, find ammo on the corner cupboards, then press the button if you're feeling nostalgic. Head outside through the open door.

 

The musical hype is cut short as you run through the passage. The sound cue warns you of two armed goons above you, so head left and up a ladder to kill them off. Loot their bodies for ammo and also the SHOTGUN, nice! On the opposite side, jump to the platform over the ornate columns to get across to the other end of the area, from that point a running jump to a high ladder in the center and climb up to the top. You can now reach the far side of the previous ledge and go through the opening to another part of the town.

 

Just as you step past the doorway four armed goons open fire — one is a bit too far away. Once you've reestablished the silence, jump to the platform on the left of the entrance to loot the body for another BUNCH OF KEYS, then hop across to the far end where the fourth guy was (looting the bodies on your way for a small medipack and flares) to take a GOLD COLOURED KEY from his pockets. If you fall, there's a ladder that will get you back on to the rooftops.

 

Don't go down just yet, but instead go towards the sloped rooftop ahead of you and shimmy all the way to the flat edge on the left. A couple of jumps later, do a running jump to grab the gold colored (...coloured?) wall beyond the slope and get the large medipack from a hole in the corner, that's SECRET #3. Drop to the ground floor and follow the frozen canal to the end, where you'll need to brace the chilling water again as you swim to an opening around the bend.

 

Gun down three rats at the end of the twisting corridor. In the next room, get some flares in the back end and pull up onto the nearby crate. A long running jump will get you to the very thin trellis in the center of the room, pull up and you'll find the GRENADE LAUNCHER. Drop back to the floor below and unlock the door with both keys in your possession.

 

Outside, two crows are soaring around the chapel. Find a crawlspace hidden behind two blocks near the small frozen pond, crawl in for the next GOLD COLOURED KEY, then back out and look towards the church: the top of the middle support column is slightly less inclined than the others, use the mound of snow below to climb onto it. Run around the perimeter, make a quick stop over behind the railing for goodies, then jump around the top of the chapel. Slide down the rooftop and jump to grab the opposite ledge and pull up quickly as two armed goons (plus a stray crow, which may or may not have shown up earlier) will be taking cheap shots at you. Enter the covered area and use the key to open the nearby trapdoor.

 

Climb down the ladder for another round of McCree as you reach the next plaza. Go left and get some goodies behind the pillar, then cross the frozen canal to the locked gate on the other side. Find a small medipack to the left, then run up the snow piled up on the right side to reach the top of the arches surrounding the area. Mind the two crows. You can shimmy over the entrance to the opposite side and drop to a column in the corner for supplies, if you like, then go back and find a ladder on the upper level, near the locked gate below.

 

Climb to the top and drop into the trench behind it to an opening in the far corner for another BUNCH OF KEYS. Make a series of safety drops to the locked gate and dispose of your newly found keys. Kill the dog in the circular tunnel and an armed goon perched atop the small terrace in front of you. Loop around to the left for flares, then find a ladder in the corner to loot that last baddy's dead body for goodies.

 

Around the bend, where the snow is highlighted by a street lamp, jump over the snow. A fella and his dog step forth, you can take a CROWBAR from his cold hands. Jump back over the snow and find a locked door nearby, you can now open it and get a sizable stack of supplies. Jump back over the snow and now go to the dark corner in the back, up the tall block to find a button. It opens a door to the left of the crowbar door but it's on a timer, so quickly drop back and jump over the slopes of snow to get there in time!

 

Through the pathway, you end up on another outside area where two armed goons emerge from the darkness. Loot their bodies for a matching pair of GOLD COLOURED KEYS. In the back end of the alley, jump over the snowy slope, kill a dog and use the keys to open the gates. Save your game! Keep moving until you arrive at the doorstep of a building from which an eager armed goon opens the door to get the drop on you. When you walk in, the door closes behind you.

 

WARNING: Some people have reported a game crash while entering this building. Should you encounter this issue, try shooting the goon from outside, then holstering your weapons and slowly walking in. Once past the bogus door tile, it should be safe to resume playing normally.

 

Follow down either set of stairs and retrieve goodies on both window sills, then head further downstairs. Go left around the longboat on display and kill two armed goons in the back. There are two pushblocks in the corner, you could pull back the one on the left once, if you take Lara's position and the desk placement into account, for some goodies hidden in an alcove behind it, but what's important is that you push the block into that alcove. You'll hear a door open, said door is right hidden behind the other block, and this one you can easily drag out into the wide room.

 

Climb the ladder to the attic, go through an opening in the bricks and get on top of the crate. Do a long running jump to the opening above, whence you can jump to a crevice in the opposite wall. Shimmy all the way left so that you can pull up and over it, then keep climbing the blocks of bricks. On your way up, you'll step on the ANCIENT LEATHER POUCH, when you pick it up a camera shows a door opening in the main hall, and directly opposite it is a crawlspace with goodies in the end. Retrace your way back down to the floor below where you last moved the blocks, it's now populated by four armed goons so make quick work of them.

 

Beyond the fireplace is that door which opened when you took the pouch, inside you'll find a large medipack flanked by a pair of GOLD COLOURED KEYS. At some point you've certainly noticed the locks, which are now right in front of you, so go open that door and step outside. On the balcony you'll face a dog and an armed goon, get the ammo he leaves behind and jump on the slope to slide all the way down to the alley below where another three armed goons anxiously await for you. One of them drops the DETONATOR KEY, and it looks like he was almost done too as the nearby detonator is already primed. Use it to blow open a gate at the end of the wire, then go through and follow until you find an helicopter standing by, ready to take you to your next assignment...
